This paper evaluates the performance of an underlay cognitive relay network under imperfect channel state information (CSI) where a secondary user (SU) transmits using a secondary relay (SR) based on decode and forward scheme. The outage probability (OP) of SU is investigated in a scenario where the decode and forward relay harvests energy from radio frequency signal of SU. The relay uses a fraction of time for harvesting in time switching–based relaying (TSR) while a fraction of received power is used for harvesting in power splitting–based relaying (PSR) scheme. The SU and relay control their transmit power using a scaling factor, based on CSI of the interfering links (ie, links from SU transmitter and SR to the primary user [PU] receiver) to protect the quality of service of PU. The available CSI at the SU and SR are imperfect due to practical limitation. Analytical expressions of the OP are derived for TSR‐ and PSR‐based schemes. The impact of harvesting time, power splitting ratio, imperfect CSI, PU outage constraint and interference threshold on the OP of the SU network, and average transmit power of SR is indicated. Further, the impact of multiple SRs is also shown.  相似文献

In order to provide privacy provisioning for the secondary information,we propose an energy harvesting based secure transmission scheme for the cognitive multi-relay networks. In the proposed scheme, two secondary relays harvest energy to power the secondary transmitter and assist the secondary secure transmission without interfere the secondary transmission.Specifically, the proposed secure transmission policy is implemented into two phases. In the first phase, the secondary transmitter transmits the secrecy information and jamming signal through the power split method. After harvesting energy from a fraction of received radio-frequency signals, one secondary relay adopts the amplify-and-forward relay protocol to assist the secondary secure transmission and the other secondary relay just forwards the new designed jamming signal to protect the secondary privacy information and degrade the jamming interference at the secondary receiver. For the proposed scheme,we first analyze the average secrecy rate, the secondary secrecy outage probability, and the ergodic secrecy rate, and derive their closed-form expressions.Following the above results,we optimally allocate the transmission power such that the secrecy rate is maximized under the secrecy outage probability constraint. For the optimization problem,an AI based simulated annealing algorithm is proposed to allocate the transmit power.Numerical results are presented to validate the performance analytical results and show the performance superiority of the proposed scheme in terms of the average secrecy rate.  相似文献

Two novel spectrum access schemes, a hybrid spectrum access scheme (HSAS) and a modified HSAS combining underlay mode and overlay mode, are proposed for a relay based cognitive radio (CR) network. The CR employs the underlay mode with imperfect channel state information of the interfering link between CR transmitter and primary user receiver if primary user is sensed to be present else it employs overlay mode. In both the schemes, transmission of CR is assisted by relay working in amplify and forward scheme by maintaining interference below an interference threshold in underlay mode and a collision constraint in overlay mode. In HSAS, CR transmits either in underlay mode or in overlay mode only during the transmission slot of a detection cycle, whereas in modified HSAS, the CR transmits for the entire frame including the sensing time. The outage probability of CR user is considered as the performance metric. Novel expressions of outage probability for both the schemes have been developed. Impact of several sensing parameters such as sensing time, correlation coefficient, and tolerable interference threshold has been investigated. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

This paper considers a cognitive radio network where a secondary user (SU) coexists with a primary user (PU). The interference outage constraint is applied to protect the primary transmission. The power allocation problem to jointly maximize the ergodic capacity and minimize the outage probability of the SU, subject to the average transmit power constraint and the interference outage constraint, is studied. Suppose that the perfect knowledge of the instantaneous channel state information (CSI) of the interference link between the SU transmitter and the PU receiver is available at the SU, the optimal power allocation strategy is then proposed. Additionally, to manage more practical situations, we further assume only the interference link channel distribution is known and derive the corresponding optimal power allocation strategy. Extensive simulation results are given to verify the effectiveness of the proposed strategies. It is shown that the proposed strategies achieve high ergodic capacity and low outage probability simultaneously, whereas optimizing the ergodic capacity (or outage probability) only leads to much higher outage probability (or lower ergodic capacity). It is also shown that the SU performance is not degraded due to partial knowledge of the interference link CSI if tight transmit power constraint is applied.  相似文献

This paper analyzes the performance of a cooperative nonorthogonal multiple access (NOMA) in an underlay cognitive radio network aided by an energy harvesting relay. A secondary source transmits signal for two users, where a near user acts as a relay for the far user. The far user applies the selection combining (SC) approach on the signals which were relayed by the near user and received via direct path from the secondary source. We analytically derive the outage probability (OP) of each user separately, the overall system OP, and the throughput of the system. The impact of the power allocation coefficient of NOMA and energy harvesting parameters on outage is indicated. Further, the performance of the network is investigated with imperfection in successive interference cancellation (SIC), maximal ratio combining (MRC) at relay, and Nakagami-m fading. The results derived analytically are supported by simulation in MATLAB.  相似文献

This paper investigates the performance of an underlay cognitive relay system where secondary users(SUs) suffer from a primary outage probability constraint and spectrum-sharing interference imposed by a primary user(PU). In particular, we consider a secondary multi-relay network operating in the selection decode-and-forward(SDF) mode and propose a best-relay selection criterion which takes into account the spectrum-sharing constraint and interference. Based on these assumptions, the closed-form expression of the outage probability of secondary transmissions is derived. We find that a floor of the outage probability occurs in high signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) regions due to the joint effect of the constraint and the interference from the PU. In addition, we propose a generalized definition of the diversity gain for such systems and show that a full diversity order is achieved. Simulation results verify our theoretical solutions.

In this paper, we analyze the performance of cognitive amplify‐and‐forward (AF) relay networks with beamforming under the peak interference power constraint of the primary user (PU). We focus on the scenario that beamforming is applied at the multi‐antenna secondary transmitter and receiver. Also, the secondary relay network operates in channel state information‐assisted AF mode, and the signals undergo independent Nakagami‐m fading. In particular, closed‐form expressions for the outage probability and symbol error rate (SER) of the considered network over Nakagami‐m fading are presented. More importantly, asymptotic closed‐form expressions for the outage probability and SER are derived. These tractable closed‐form expressions for the network performance readily enable us to evaluate and examine the impact of network parameters on the system performance. Specifically, the impact of the number of antennas, the fading severity parameters, the channel mean powers, and the peak interference power is addressed. The asymptotic analysis manifests that the peak interference power constraint imposed on the secondary relay network has no effect on the diversity gain. However, the coding gain is affected by the fading parameters of the links from the primary receiver to the secondary relay network. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Recently, cooperative relaying techniques have been integrated into spectrum‐sharing systems in an effort to yield higher spectral efficiency. Many investigations on such systems have assumed that the channel state information between the secondary transmitter and primary receiver used to calculate the maximum allowable transmit secondary user transmit power to limit the interference is known to be perfect. However, because of feedback delay from the primary receiver or the time‐varying properties of the channel, the channel information may be outdated, which is an important scenario to cognitive radio systems. In this paper, we investigate the impact of outdated channel state information for relay selection on the performance of partial relay selection with amplify and forward in underlay spectrum‐sharing systems. We begin by deriving a closed‐form expression for the outage probability of the secondary network in a Rayleigh fading channel along with peak received interference power constraint and maximum allowable secondary user transmit power. We also provide a closed‐form expression for the average bit‐error rate of the underlying system. Moreover, we present asymptotic expressions for both the outage probability and average bit‐error rate in the high signal‐to‐noise ratio regime that reveal practical insights on the achievable diversity gain. Finally, we confirm our results through comparisons with computer simulations. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Cognitive radio network is an emerging solution to deal with spectrum scarcity and to utilize the radio spectrum in opportunistic and efficient manner. Secure data transmission is one of the important issues in these kind of networks. This work studies the secrecy outage performance of a multiple-input multiple-output underlay cognitive wiretap radio network system over Rayleigh fading channel with delayed channel state information. This work considers that the secondary transmitter is equipped with multiple antennas and confidential information is transmitted from to multiantenna receiver in the presence of multiantenna eavesdropper. Further, the transmit antenna selection scheme is considered at secondary transmitter to reduce the complexity of antenna selection and to make it more practicable. To improve the quality of signal, this work considers maximal ratio combining (MRC) at secondary receiver, while selection combining and MRC techniques are utilized at the eavesdropper. The closed form expression for exact, asymptotic, and intercept secrecy outage probability has been derived, and the simulation is done for the validation of analytical results. The derived results reveal deterioration of channel secrecy performance with outdated channel state information, and the eavesdropper with outdated channel state information has also an adverse effect. Moreover, the diversity order that can be achieved in underlay cognitive radio network with outdated channel state information is unity.  相似文献

This paper evaluates the outage performance of cognitive relay networks with mutual interference between secondary users and primary users under the underlay approach, while adhering to the interference constraint on the primary user. A network path selection criterion, suitable for cognitive relay networks, is provided, from which we derive the outage probability expression of cognitive relay networks. It is shown that the outage probability considering the interference to secondary user from primary user is higher than that without considering the interference to secondary user from primary user. In addition, the outage probability is affected by key network parameters. We analyze network path selection method based on outage probability and prove that the interference to secondary user from primary user has a significant effect on the network path selection and can not be ignored in practical wireless communication environments. Simulation investigation is also provided and used to verify the theoretical analysis.  相似文献

The security in cognitive radio networks (CRNs) has been attracting continuously growing attention due to the open and dynamic nature of cognitive radio architecture. In this paper, we propose new relay selection schemes to improve the physical layer security in CRNs. A trusted decode-and-forward relay is selected to help the secondary user (SU) transmission and improve the secrecy rate in the presence of multiple eavesdroppers and multiple primary users (PUs). The secrecy rate of the SU is characterized under both its own transmit power constraint as well as a set of interference power constraints imposed at each PU, in order to preserve its quality of service. The performance of the proposed schemes is analyzed in terms of the achievable secrecy rate and the intercept probability. Closed form expressions for the asymptotic intercept probability at high source-relays channel variances are also derived. Moreover, new derivations of some existing traditional schemes are presented and compared. The performance comparison of the proposed schemes with the schemes proposed in the literature reveals the superior of the proposed schemes.  相似文献

This paper studies optimal precoder design for non‐regenerative multiple‐input multiple‐output (MIMO) cognitive relay systems, where the secondary user (SU) and relay station (RS) share the same spectrum with the primary user (PU). We aim to maximize the system capacity subject to the transmit power constraints at the SU transmitter (SU‐Tx) and RS, and the interference power constraint at the PU. We jointly optimize precoders for the SU‐Tx and RS with perfect and imperfect channel state information (CSI) between the SU‐Tx/RS and PU, where our design approach is based on the alternate optimization method. With perfect CSI, we derive the optimal structures of the RS and SU‐Tx precoding matrices and develop the gradient projection algorithm to find numerical solution of the RS precoder. Under imperfect CSI, we derive equivalent conditions for the interference power constraints and convert the robust SU‐Tx precoder optimization into the form of semi‐definite programming. For the robust RS precoder optimization, we relax the interference power constraint related with the RS precoder to be convex by using an upper bound and apply the gradient projection algorithm to deal with it. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed schemes. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

This paper investigates the performance of energy harvesting (EH) relay-based interweave/underlay cognitive radio network. The relay employs amplify and forward (AF) technique along with time-switching relaying protocol (TSR) for EH. Based on sensing accuracy, we derive an expression for optimisation of charging duration TSR parameter and sensing duration for maximising throughput of interweave cognitive radio (CR). Based on sensing efficiency, throughput and outage probability for underlay CR is analysed considering the interference temperature constraints and optimal power distribution parameter at secondary user (SU) terminals. Variations in the sum-rate and detection probability are considered in terms of cumulative distribution functions (CDF) of the terminal Signal to Noise Ratios (SNRs). We prove that erogodic sum-rate is maximised in underlay CR case, when interference power distribution parameter is half across the SU terminals. The optimised values of switching-time ratios have been derived analytically for both interweave and underlay CR. The results thus obtained are compared by taking symmetrical and asymmetric channels between SU terminals. Analytical results are validated through Monte-Carlo simulations to confirm the accuracy of the derived expressions.  相似文献

Spectrum sharing cognitive radio aims to improve the spectrum efficiency via sharing the spectrum band licensed to the primary user (PU) with the secondary user (SU) concurrently provided that the interference caused by the SU to the PU is limited. The channel state information (CSI) between the secondary transmitter (STx) and the primary receiver (PRx) is used by the STx to calculate the appropriate transmit power to limit the interference. We assume that this CSI is not only having channel estimation errors but also outdated due to feedback delay, which is different from existing studies. We derive closed-form expressions for the ergodic capacities of the SU with this imperfect CSI under the average interference power (AIP) constraint and the peak interference power (PIP) constraint. Illustrative results are presented to show the effects of the imperfect CSI. It is shown that the ergodic capacity of the SU is robust to the channel estimation errors and feedback delay under high feedback delay. It is also shown that decreasing the distance between STx and secondary receiver (SRx) or increasing the distance between STx and PRx can mitigate the impact of the imperfect CSI and significantly increase the ergodic capacity of the SU.  相似文献

A three‐dimensional continuous‐time Markov model is proposed for an energy harvesting cognitive radio system, where each secondary user (SU) harvests energy from the ambient environment and attempts to transmit data packets on spectrum holes in an infinite queuing buffer. Unlike most previous works, the SU can perform spectrum sensing, data transmission, and energy harvesting simultaneously. We determine active probability of the SU transmitter, where the average energy consumption for both spectrum sensing and data transmission should not exceed the amount of harvested energy. Then, we formulate achievable throughput of secondary network as a convex optimization problem under average transmit and interference energy constraints. The optimal pair of controlled energy harvesting rate and data packet rate is derived for proposed model. Results indicate that no trade‐off is available among harvesting, sensing/receiving, and transmitting. The SU capability for self‐interference cancelation affects the maximum throughput. We develop this work under hybrid channels including overlay and underlay cases and propose a hybrid solution to achieve the maximum throughput. Simulation results verify that our proposed strategy outperforms the efficiency of the secondary network compared to the previous works.  相似文献

Efficient spectrum utilization is a promising technique for a prolonged unused radio frequency (RF) spectrum in a wireless network. In this paper, an adaptive spectrum sharing cognitive radio (CR) network has been proposed consisting of a primary user (PU) and secondary user transmitter (SU ? Tx) that communicates with secondary user receiver (SU ? Rx) via multiantenna‐based proactive decode‐and‐forward (DF) relay selection scheme. In our model, strategically an adaptable joint venture on underlay/overlay protocol is defined based on channel occupancy using spectrum sensing technique. Here, secondary transmitters (i.e., source transmitter) continuously sense the PU activities by energy detector and can simultaneously transmit to secondary receivers. Depending on sensing result secondary transmitters automatically switches in underlay mode if PU is active otherwise operates in overlay mode. The advantage of this scheme is that the joint mode of transmission allows the SUs to maximize their transmission rate. The outage performance at SU ? Rx and closed‐form expressions of joint underlay/overlay protocol has been evaluated. The power control policies at different transmitter nodes are taken care of. With the same diversity order, a trade‐off between multiantenna and multirelay is shown. This comparison shows improvement in outage behavior when the count in relays surpasses the number of antennas. Finally, the analytical model of smart efficient spectrum utilization without harming license users in CR is validated by MATLAB simulation.  相似文献

This paper explores an end-to-end outage probability experienced in a bidirectional relay assisted communication where the relay is assumed to be equipped with an RF energy harvesting circuit. First, the closed-form expression for the outage of the system is derived. This is followed by the formulation of an unconstrained optimization problem to achieve minimum outage probability with respect to the relay placement and consequent time allocation for energy harvesting. The system model is further extended in an underlay cognitive radio framework to study the impact of a primary user outage constraint on the end-to-end outage performance of the two-way communications. The accuracy of analytical results is validated through simulation results. The impact of various system parameters like relay position, time allocation factor, target rate of transmission on the outage probability is also observed. In addition, it is also shown that spectral efficiency of the communication system using hybrid power-time switching relaying protocol is much superior to similar one-way and two-way relay assisted communication system with power splitting relaying protocol.
