In designing cognitive radio systems, one of the most critical issues is handling the channel handover process (CHP). The CHP consists of spectrum sensing, spectrum decision, negotiation on the common control channel, and adjustment of frequency and modulation settings, and such, it can be a time‐consuming process. Consequently, initiating the CHP after each detected user activity (UA) can decrease the aggregate spectrum utilization. To alleviate this problem, we introduce a novel handover strategy to find the optimal trade‐off between the durations of the CHP and UAs. With the use this model, secondary users (SUs) track only local information on their current data channel to make the decision to initiate the CHP or to wait for the termination of the ongoing UA. The system adapts to the dynamic conditions of the data channels and reduces the frequency of handovers to increase throughput and decrease access delay. We give analytical utilization bounds for SUs and also compare the performance of our model to those of other channel handover strategies by using extensive simulations. Our results for channels with heterogeneous loads and dynamic environments show that this model can clearly decrease the frequency of handover and consequently increase the aggregate SU utilization. Commercial, multideployed cognitive femtocell base stations (CFBSs) with cognitive capabilities are envisioned as a promising approach to meet the requirement of the higher data rate in today's wireless communications with nomadic users. However, random deployment of CFBSs results in interference between primary links, ie, the link between a macrocell base station (MBS) and macrocell user equipment (MUE), and secondary links, ie, the link between a femtocell base station (FBS) and femtocell user equipment (FUE). In this research paper, different analytical expressions for statistical measures such as cumulative distribution function of outage probability (Fout) and probability distribution function (Pout) have been proposed for the CFBS system. The fading channel for the secondary and primary links is taken as mixture gamma (MG) and Rayleigh distribution, respectively. It should be noticed that MG fading is one of the most generic fading channels and has not been included for analysis of the CFBS system to date. In addition, this paper presents average detection probability ( ) for cognitive radio (CR)–enabled femtocells or the CFBS system. The numerical analysis presents the effects of various parameters such as spatial density of CFBS nodes (λ), interference tolerance threshold (βth), and transmitting power of MBS (p) and fading parameters of the channel on Fout, Pout, and . Also, the numerical analysis shows perfect agreement with the theoretical background .  相似文献

Satellite system architectures based on geostationary or Low Earth Orbit (LEO)/Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) constellation suffer from their intrinsic limitations in terms of coverage or flexibility. Traffic requirements concerning broadband services are expected to be very uneven both in time and space. To match this requirement and to improve coverage an innovative satellite system architecture, composed of a LEO/MEO segment to complement a Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO) segment, has been proposed. In this scenario, to achieve interworking and to make it possible to hold the call while switching between the two segments, efficient intersegment handover (ISHO) procedures must be identified. The paper, after introducing the classical ISHO schemes, aims at defining and analysing an ISHO procedure developed to perform handover in case of hybrid constellations based on the use of both GEO and LEO/MEO orbits. Performance evaluation will be carried out for different system configurations utilizing a dynamic satellite constellation simulator in the time domain. The execution delay and its complementary cumulative distribution have been evaluated for different constellation geometry at different distances from the gateway. The integration of 5G networks with cognitive radio (CR) technology enables the software‐defined networking (SDN) infrastructure to support emergency applications. In future, CR can be integrated with 5G and many wireless networks like Wi‐Fi, WSN, and MANET for efficient spectrum utilization with higher data rate and lower latency. This CR technology allows unlicensed users to access the licensed spectrum, whenever it is free. In this paper, an efficient SDN architecture with cognitive ability for emergency network is proposed in which the SDN controller prolong communication between disaster victims and first responders and so the first responders can arrive at the spot directly and rescue the victims. The SDN controller has cognitive ability so that the victims can utilize the vacant licensed band to communicate with the first responders, thereby improving the spectrum utilization of the network. Another two main challenges during emergency are the occurrence of interference and link failure. The proposed dynamic handover algorithm with interference cancellation (DHAIC) cancels the interference between the nodes inside the network and performs dynamic handoff, whenever link failure occurs between the cluster head (CH) and the controller. An optimum throughput and minimal delay is achieved to ensure the network performance.  相似文献

Next generation mobile networks will provide seamless mobility between existing cellular systems and other wireless access technologies. To realize a seamless vertical handover (inter‐radio access technology handover) among these different access technologies, a multi‐interfaced mobile station (i.e., multihomed) is a good approach to provide better handover performance in terms of packet loss rate and handover latency. In this article, we propose a novel layer 2 multihoming approach for inter‐radio access technology handover between Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) and Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) in both integrated and tight coupling architectures. This layer 2 multihoming approach has the ability of enabling either soft handover or make‐before‐break handover to adapt to mobility scenarios for the sake of a lossless and short latency handover procedure. Our simulation results show that, in case of handover from UMTS to WiMAX for transmission control protocol (TCP) traffics, the layer 2 multihoming approach can achieve a lossless and zero latency handover procedure by enabling soft handover. In case of handover from WiMAX to UMTS, because of the fact that the performance gain of soft handover is more affected by the differences of bandwidth and transmission delay between these wireless links, the make‐before‐break handover is preferred to achieve lossless and short latency handover procedure. Cognitive femtocell has been considered as a promising technique that can improve the capacity and the utilization of spectrum efficiency in wireless networks because of the short transmission distance and low transmit power. In this paper, we study the win–win solution of energy‐efficient radio resource management in cognitive femtocell networks, where the macrocell tries to maximize its revenue by adjusting spectrum utilization price while the femtocells try to maximize their revenues by dynamically adjusting the transmit power. When the spectrum utilization price is given by macrocell, we formulate the power control problem of standalone femtocells as an optimization problem and introduce a low‐complexity iteration algorithm based on gradient‐assisted binary search algorithm to solve it. Besides, non‐cooperative game is used to formulate the power control problem between collocated femtocells in a collocated femtocell set, and then low complexity and widely used gradient‐based iteration algorithm is applied to obtain the Nash‐equilibrium solution. Specially, asymptotic analysis is applied to find the approximate spectrum utilization price in macrocell, which can greatly reduce the computational complexity of the proposed energy‐efficient radio resource management scheme. In realistic scenarios of cognitive radio (CR) systems, imperfect channel sensing may occur due to false alarms and miss detections. Channel estimation between the secondary user transmitter and another secondary user receiver is another challenge in CR systems, especially for frequency‐selective fading channels. In this context, this paper presents a study of the effects of imperfect channel sensing and channel estimation on the performance of CR systems. In particular, different methods of channel estimation are analyzed under channel sensing imperfections. Initially, a CR system model with channel sensing errors is described. Then, the expectation maximization (EM) algorithm is implemented in order to learn the channel fading coefficients. By exploiting the pilot symbols and the detected symbols at the secondary user receiver, we can estimate the channel coefficients. We further compare the proposed EM estimation algorithm with different estimation algorithms such as the least squares (LS) and linear minimum mean square error (LMMSE). The expressions of channel estimates and mean squared errors (MSE) are determined, and their dependencies on channel sensing uncertainty are investigated. Finally, to reduce the complexity of EM algorithm, a sub‐optimal algorithm is also proposed. The obtained results show that the proposed sub‐optimal algorithm provides a comparable bit error rate (BER) performance with that of the optimal one yet with less computational complexity.  相似文献

For improving Transfer Control Protocol (TCP) performance in mobile environment,smooth handover with buffer management has been proposed to realize seamless handovers. However in our simulation, even if smooth handover in Mobile IPv6 (MIPv6) is implemented, TCP can not always achieve better performance due to packets forwarding burst. Based on the study of buffer management for smooth handover, this paper proposes an enhanced buffer management scheme for smooth handover to improve TCP performance. In this scheme, a packet-pair probing technology is adopted to estimate the available bandwidth of the new path from Previous router (Prtr) to Mobile Node (MN), which will be used by Prtr to control the buffered packets forwarding. The simulation results demonstrate that smooth handover with this scheme can achieve better TCP performance than the original scheme.  相似文献

This paper analyzes the performance of a cooperative nonorthogonal multiple access (NOMA) in an underlay cognitive radio network aided by an energy harvesting relay. A secondary source transmits signal for two users, where a near user acts as a relay for the far user. The far user applies the selection combining (SC) approach on the signals which were relayed by the near user and received via direct path from the secondary source. We analytically derive the outage probability (OP) of each user separately, the overall system OP, and the throughput of the system. The impact of the power allocation coefficient of NOMA and energy harvesting parameters on outage is indicated. Further, the performance of the network is investigated with imperfection in successive interference cancellation (SIC), maximal ratio combining (MRC) at relay, and Nakagami-m fading. The results derived analytically are supported by simulation in MATLAB.  相似文献

针对5G时代小基站的密集部署带来的复杂干扰问题,对下行的认知无线电超密集网络下的资源分配进行了研究。为减小网络干扰,提高次用户吞吐量,提出了一种改进的基于用户分簇的资源分配算法。基于基站的覆盖范围,选出用户的强干扰基站,以用户-基站干扰关系建立用户-用户干扰图,按用户受到的平均弱干扰划分优先级对用户分簇,再为簇集群预分配频段,为每个簇分配对应频段中效用最大的信道。该资源分配算法能准确反映用户间的干扰关系,保障资源分配公平性。仿真结果表明,当用户密度与基站密度均较大时,与相同场景的已有算法相比,该改进算法有较好的抗干扰能力,能有效提高次用户的吞吐量。  相似文献

Channel assignment is a challenge for distributed cognitive networks due to spectrum mobility and lack of centralized entity. We present a dynamic and efficient algorithm via conflict shifting, referred as Shifting-based Channel Assignment (SCA). In this algorithm, the system was modeled with a conflict graph, and users cannot assign the channels that primary users (legacy users) and neighbors already occupied. In order to eliminate the conflicts between neighbors efficiently, secondary users (unlicensed users) try to transfer them through a straight path to the boundary, where conflicts are easier to solve as there are less neighbors for boundary users. Actions in one shift are executed in slots, and users act in a synchronous and separated manner. As a result, some of the conflicting channels are avoid from directly abandoned, and for this, utility of the entire network can be improved. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can provide similar utility performance while obviously reducing the communication cost than bargaining-base algorithms. In small scale networks with low user mobility (under 20%), it reduces 50% of the communication overhead than the later.  相似文献

Mobile IP has been developed to handle mobility of Internet hosts at the network layer. Mobile IP (MIP), however, suffers from a number of drawbacks such as requirement of infrastructure change, high handover latency, high packet loss rate, and conflict with network security solutions. In this paper, we describe and evaluate the performance of SIGMA, a Seamless IP diversity‐based Generalized Mobility Architecture. SIGMA utilizes multihoming to achieve seamless handover of mobile hosts, and is designed to solve many of the drawbacks of MIP, including requirement for changes in infrastructure. We first evaluate the signaling cost of SIGMA and compare with that of hierarchical Mobile IPv6 (an enhancement of Mobile IP) by analytical modeling, followed by comparison of handover performance of SIGMA and Mobile IPv6 enhancements. Criteria for performance evaluation include handover latency, packet loss, throughput, and network friendliness. Our results indicate that in most cases SIGMA has a lower signaling cost than Hierarchical Mobile IPv6. This paper studies the fairness among the primary users (PUs) and the secondary users (SUs) for resource allocation in cognitive radio systems. We propose a novel co‐opetition strategy based on the Kalai–Smorodinsky bargaining solution to balance the system efficiency and the fairness among users. The strategy formulates the spectrum sharing problem as a nonlinear and integral sum utility maximization subject to a set of constraints describing the co‐opetition among the PUs and the SUs. Then, we solve the maximization problem by proposing a heuristical method that consists of four steps: multi‐PU competition, PU's subcarrier contribution, multi‐SU competition, and SU's subcarrier contribution. Extensive simulation results are presented by comparing the co‐opetition strategy with several conventional ones, including the Kalai–Smorodinsky bargaining solution, sum rate maximization as well as the Max–Min. Results indicate that the co‐opetition strategy can jointly balance the system efficiency and fairness in multiuser resource allocation, as it is able to support more satisfied users and in the meanwhile improve the utility of those unsatisfied. 随着认知无线电网络(CRN)技术的不断发展,安全问题日益受到重视。模仿主用户(PUE)是一种典型的易于实现且对CRN影响巨大的攻击行为,根据产生的原因、目的和过程的差异,可以分为恶意不端次用户PUE和自私不端次用户PUE 2类攻击。已有文献大多针对前者进行了分析,而对后者分析极少。重点对两者进行了区分,提出了四维连续时间马尔科夫链分析模型,详细地分析了自私不端次用户PUE攻击对正常次用户通信性能的影响,并对比了几类典型的PUE攻击检测技术。通过仿真结果可以看出:PUE攻击检测技术引入自私不端次用户检测机制极为必要,可以有效地改进检测效果。  相似文献

提出一种自适应免疫遗传算法,设计自适应免疫遗传算子。该算法利用交叉率和变异率自适应调整策略,既防止交叉变异中的个体退化,又保证种群的多样性,并能快速收敛到全局最优解。仿真分析表明,与遗传算法等其他算法相比,该算法具有收敛速度快、平均适应度高、稳定性好等优点,能满足认知引擎参数优化的需要。  相似文献

When a mobile network dynamically changes its point of attachment to the Internet, the various types of movements by a mobile router require handovers, and network mobility (NEMO) is concerned with the management of this movement of mobile networks. Accordingly, this paper investigates the mobile router movement patterns in NEMO network environments, and defines fast hierarchical NEMO handover scenarios based on classified movement patterns. Due to unexpected link breakdowns during the handover procedure, the NEMO handover requires additional latency and packet delivery costs depending on when the breaks occur. For the various handover failure cases, it is also essential to analyze these overhead costs to evaluate and compare the performance of a fast handover. In this paper, the overheads associated with a NEMO fast handover include the latency, buffering cost, and packet loss cost, all of which are formulated based on a timing diagram.

—In this paper, we present a coordinate rotation digital computer (CORDIC) based fast algorithm for power-of-two point DCT, and develop its corresponding efficient VLSI implementation. The proposed algorithm has some distinguish advantages, such as regular Cooley-Tukey FFT-like data flow, identical post-scaling factor, and arithmetic-sequence rotation angles. By using the trigonometric formula, the number of the CORDIC types is reduced dramatically. This leads to an efficient method for overcoming the problem that lack synchronization among the various rotation angles CORDICs. By fully reusing the uniform processing cell (PE), for 8-point DCT, only four carry save adders (CSAs)-based PEs with two different types are required. Compared with other known architectures, the proposed 8-point DCT architecture has higher modularity, lower hardware complexity, higher throughput and better synchronization.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the detection of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing with timing and frequency offset for cognitive radio over fast time‐varying multipath channels. By making different assumptions on the availability of the timing and frequency offset at the secondary user, we derive two algorithms based on likelihood ratio test and generalized likelihood ratio test, respectively and theoretically obtain the detection performances of them. The proposed algorithms jointly utilize energy of observations and correlation of the cyclic prefix (CP) data. The extensive simulations show that the two algorithms outperform the other CP‐based methods, perform well at very low signal to noise ratio (SNR) and are robust to the CP ratio. Seamless handover is an essential feature of cellular networks. For small‐cell networks, effective handover becomes particularly challenging. If some cells may be activated and deactivated dynamically, effective handover handling will become even more difficult. A key factor of good handover performance is “handover timing,” that is, making handover decision at a right time. If handover is executed too early or too late, users will experience temporary link disconnection, called radio link failure (RLF). Handover timing is controlled by handover parameters, which are set by the network. RLF prevention is directly related to the proper configuration of these parameters. In this paper, we propose a self‐optimization scheme that adjusts the handover parameters to minimize RLFs for dynamic small‐cell networks. Our scheme first detects the types of RLF and then adjusts the handover parameters according to the types of RLF. Unlike most existing schemes, our scheme adjusts both system common parameters and cell‐specific parameters together. In certain situations, such as when two adjacent cells do not have sufficient coverage overlap, RLFs may not be reduced to a satisfactory level by the handover parameter adjustment alone. To deal with such a case, our scheme adjusts the cell coverage in conjunction with the handover parameter optimization.
