Knowledge management facilitates the capture, storage, and dissemination of knowledge using information technology. Methods for managing knowledge have become an important issue in the past few decades, and the KM community has developed a wide range of technologies and applications for both academic research and practical applications. In this paper, we propose a knowledge engineering approach (KMKE) to knowledge management. First, a knowledge modeling approach is used to organize and express various types of knowledge in a unified knowledge representation. Second, a verification mechanism is used to verify knowledge models based on the formal semantics of the knowledge representation. Third, knowledge models are classified and stored in a hierarchical ontology system. Fourth, a knowledge query language is designed to enhance the dissemination of knowledge. Finally, a knowledge update process is applied to modify the knowledge storage with respect to users’ needs. A knowledge management system for computer repair is used as an illustrative example.  相似文献

Tacit knowledge, which refers to the know-how, is critical to understand and reuse since it is located in the human heads. It represents the foremost element for human and team evaluation. Seeking for tacit knowledge is achieved only by communicating with the concerned persons, which makes losing it axiomatic if people leave their work without documenting their know-how. Thus, providing a collaborative environment based on a common conceptualization of the domain to formalize the experts’ knowledge and to share their outcomes is required. However, some barriers pertaining to cultural and social factors such as personality traits impede capturing the conceptual model. To cope with these issues, we have proposed a generic two-step methodology that copes with human barriers when capturing the domain experts’ tacit knowledge, their skills, and seeds terms in order to converge to a common knowledge representation. Considering the scientific research management as a use case, we followed the proposed methodology to formalize our scientific research knowledge in the context of network and communication research field. Based on the generated ontology, we have developed a semantic web platform that allows collaboratively annotating experts’ knowledge in a computer interpretable format that can be shared and reused by human and machines. Our evaluation is based on end users’ quality of experience and feedbacks.  相似文献

For the knowledge management of product design, knowledge innovation is the foundation and motivation for the independent innovation and enhancing the core competitiveness. Most of the product knowledge exists in the brain of designers. How to obtain the required knowledge accurately in massive knowledge database becomes the key to knowledge innovation. However, the design knowledge based on consumer’s requirement has not been extensively studied. There is no consensus on the reasonable and effective implementation of the knowledge management framework to select the optimum design knowledge based on the consumer’s requirements. In this study, to efficiently realize the knowledge acquisition and knowledge selection, a requirements-oriented knowledge management model is established, with the advantage of Kansei engineering in knowledge acquisition and multi-objective decision-making in knowledge selection. Finally, the outdoor leisure chairs design is used as a case study to explain the implementation of the knowledge management framework. To reveal the advantages of the framework, it was compared with other frameworks. The results show that the proposed knowledge management framework is more efficient and provided a method of designers to acquire design knowledge based on the consumer’s requirements.  相似文献

Recently, enterprise systems have been extensively adopted to boost enterprise competitiveness. The development and implementation of enterprise systems is a knowledge intensive procedure, being related to enterprise processes and involving information, system and software engineering technologies. Consequently, knowledge management is required to enhance the effectiveness of enterprise system development and implementation, thus helping to increase industrial competitiveness. This study aims to develop a distributed knowledge model for knowledge management, capable of supporting the collaborative development and implementation of enterprise systems. This objective can be obtained by performing the following tasks: (1) modeling and characterization of the collaborative development and implementation process, (2) identification, analysis and modeling of involved knowledge, and (3) development of a distributed knowledge model for knowledge management related to the collaborative development and implementation of enterprise systems.  相似文献

Expert systems have traditionally captured the explicit knowledge of a single expert or source of expertise in order to automatically provide conclusions or classifications within a narrow problem domain. This is in stark contrast to social software which enables knowledge communities to share implicit knowledge of a more practical or experiential nature to inform individuals and groups to arrive at their own conclusions. Specialists are often needed to elicit and encode the knowledge in the case of expert systems, whereas one of the (claimed) hallmarks of social software and the Web 2.0 trend, such as Wikis and Blogs, is that everyone, anywhere can chose to contribute input. This openness in authoring and sharing content, however, tends to produce unstructured knowledge that is difficult to execute, reason over or automatically validate. This also poses limitations for its reuse. To facilitate the capture of knowledge-in-action which spans both explicit and tacit knowledge types, a knowledge engineering approach which offers Wiki-style collaboration is introduced. The approach extends a combined rule and case-based knowledge acquisition technique known as Multiple Classification Ripple Down Rules to allow multiple users to collaboratively view, define and refine a knowledge base over time and space.  相似文献

One of the most significant positive effects on product and process development in recent years has been the application of data management techniques. Engineering data management or product data management is the most promising one. The implementation of engineering data management is heavily dependent on the engineering process and involves the technologies of management, engineering, and information. However, as there is no commonly acceptable approach and methodologies for implementing engineering data management, it’s implementation becomes a bottleneck. This paper presents a structured methodology for the implementation of engineering data management. The approach consists of a series of steps, from business and engineering process analysis, modeling and reengineering, through system design and modeling, to system realization. This research will facilitate engineering process improvement and the planning, design and implementation of engineering data management. Consequently, it will help increase product development capability and quality, reduce development cycle time and cost, and hence increase product marketability.  相似文献

In today’s competitive global marketplace and knowledge-based economy, user requirement becomes an important input information for enterprises to develop new product and a critical factor to drive product collaborative design evolution. Meanwhile, there remains no consensus on how best to support knowledge activities and significant challenges to establishing design information management facing to rapid collaborative product development with dynamic user requirement. This paper introduces solutions for designer to deal with dynamic user requirement information through requirement evaluation and prediction method. In this study, we propose a user requirements-oriented knowledge management concept that is based on a four level hierarchy map model with special regard to knowledge collaboration and information communication. Furthermore, a novel distributed concurrent and interactive user requirement database was constructed, and the framework driven by user requirement was put forward to support collaborative design knowledge management. Finally, the service robot design project of a start-up company is used as a case study to explain the implementation of proposed framework.  相似文献

The Web-based technology is a potential tool for supported collaborative learning that may enrich learning performance, such as individual knowledge construction or group knowledge sharing. Thus, understanding Web-based collaborative learning for knowledge management is a critical issue. The present study is to investigate learners’ attitudes toward Web-based collaborative learning systems. Based on this research, the results of factor analysis show that five attitude factors (system functions, system satisfaction, collaborative activities, learners’ characteristics, and system acceptance) should be examined at the same time when building a Web-based collaborative learning system. The results also provide an acceptance model for understanding users’ behavioral intention of facilitating Web-based collaborative systems.  相似文献

A decision support system for product design in concurrent engineering   总被引:4,自引:1,他引:4
Compared with the traditional sequential design method, concurrent engineering is a systematic approach to integrate concurrent design of products and their related processes. One of the key factors to successfully implement concurrent engineering is information technology. In order to design a product and its manufacturing process simultaneously, information on product features, manufacturing requirements, and customer demands must be processed while the design is concurrently going on. There is an increased understanding of the importance of the correct decisions being made at the conceptual design and development stages that involve many complex evaluation and decision-making tasks. In order to promote the efficiency in concurrent product development, appropriate evaluation and decision tools need to be provided. In this paper, the characteristics of fuzzy, multi-stage evaluation and decision making in concurrent product development process are analyzed and a decision support system for product design in concurrent engineering is presented. An example is given to illustrate the application of the system.  相似文献

Engineering design is a knowledge-intensive process, and includes conceptual design, detailed design, engineering analysis, assembly design, process design, and performance evaluation. Each of these tasks involves various aspects of technical knowledge and experience. Whether this technical knowledge and experience can be effectively shared is key to increasing product development capability and quality, and also to reducing the duration and cost of the development cycle. Consequently, providing engineering designers various query methods for retrieving engineering knowledge is one of the most important tasks in engineering knowledge management. The study develops a technology for functional requirement-based reference design retrieval as a decision support mechanism, which can assist engineering designers to retrieve relevant design and associated knowledge for reference in conducting functional requirements of a product. This study involves the following tasks: (i) designing a functional requirement-based reference design retrieval process, (ii) developing techniques related to the technology for functional requirement-based reference design retrieval, and (iii) implementing a functional requirement-based reference design retrieval mechanism. The retrieval process includes the steps of functional requirement-based query, case searching and matching, and case ranking. The technology involves (i) a structured query model for functional requirements, (ii) an index structures for historical design cases, (iii) functional requirement-based case searching and matching mechanisms, (iv) a functional requirement-based case ranking mechanism, and (v) a case-based representation of designed entities. Finally, the experimental example with indexing and retrieving similar designed entities is conducted to demonstrate the proposed techniques worked efficiently.  相似文献

Collaboration is not only an issue for geographically or temporally dispersed engineering teams jointly working on the development of products or manufacturing facilities. It is also an important issue for the operation of production lines. One task that requires close collaboration is the setup of the configuration data for the production line—the manufacturing specification data. They lay the foundations for automation scenarios on all levels of the automation hierarchy, starting from the single production equipment up to the complete production line. Even complex business rules and logistics strategies are supported by corresponding configuration data. Typically, these data are distributed over a large number of IT systems. Groups of people from different departments account for the correctness and completeness of these data. A complete, correct and consistent set of manufacturing specification data is an important precondition for production lines to run in the optimal working point. This is especially true in highly automated environments that provide a high level of flexibility. Within this paper a new, minimal-invasive approach to configuration management is presented that helps to overcome the collaboration issues.  相似文献

A cooperative tool for facilitating knowledge management   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Nowadays, we can find systems and environments supporting processes of ontology building. However, these processes have not been specified enough yet. In this work, a real environment for integrating ontologies supplied by a predetermined set of (experts) users, who might be distributed through a communication network and working cooperatively in the integration process, is introduced. In this environment, the (expert) user can check for the ontology that is being produced, so he/she is able to refine his/her private ontology. Furthermore, the experts who take part of the ontology construction process are allowed to use their own terminology even for requesting information about the global-derived ontology until a specific instant after the integration.  相似文献

The use of product configurators has produced a range of benefits for several companies, such as minimizing the use of resources and shortening the lead times in product specification processes. When developing a product configurator, two kinds of models are often created, namely analysis models and design models. Since the task of describing product knowledge in analysis models involves domain experts, the analysis language has to be easily understandable in order to avoid the need for extensive training. For this task, the so-called Product Variant Master (PVM) diagramming technique is often applied. With regard to the design model, the requirements for the language focus more on a formalized and rich language, which is why class diagrams are often applied. To avoid the use of different modelling languages in the analysis and design phase, this paper proposes the layout technique ‘Vertically Aligned Class Diagrams’ (VACDs), which incorporate the usability of PVMs into class diagrams. To validate the usefulness of the VACD technique, the paper compares VACDs to PVMs and class diagrams in a utility analysis and a usability experiment. These investigations strongly indicate that VACDs maintain to a great extent the combined advantages of PVMs and normally drawn class diagrams. Thus, the use of VACDs in configurator projects has the potential to increase efficiency, improve communication and reduce errors.  相似文献

Security is an important topic, but is it important for Knowledge Management (KM)? To date, little mainstream KM research is coming through with a security focus. This paper asks why, and proposes that security be integrated into KM success models. The Jennex and Olfman (International Journal of Knowledge Management 2(3):51–68, 2006) KM success model is used to illustrate how security, specifically risk management, and the National Security Telecommunications and Information System Security Committee (NSTISSC) security model can be applied to KM management support and governance and KM Strategy. Finally, two case studies are provided that illustrate the application of risk management through governance to KM.  相似文献

Knowledge is a critical resource that organizations use to gain and maintain competitive advantages. In the constantly changing business environment, organizations must exploit effective and efficient methods of preserving, sharing and reusing knowledge in order to help knowledge workers find task-relevant information. Hence, an important issue is how to discover and model the knowledge flow (KF) of workers from their historical work records. The objectives of a knowledge flow model are to understand knowledge workers’ task-needs and the ways they reference documents, and then provide adaptive knowledge support. This work proposes hybrid recommendation methods based on the knowledge flow model, which integrates KF mining, sequential rule mining and collaborative filtering techniques to recommend codified knowledge. These KF-based recommendation methods involve two phases: a KF mining phase and a KF-based recommendation phase. The KF mining phase identifies each worker’s knowledge flow by analyzing his/her knowledge referencing behavior (information needs), while the KF-based recommendation phase utilizes the proposed hybrid methods to proactively provide relevant codified knowledge for the worker. Therefore, the proposed methods use workers’ preferences for codified knowledge as well as their knowledge referencing behavior to predict their topics of interest and recommend task-related knowledge. Using data collected from a research institute laboratory, experiments are conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed hybrid methods and compare them with the traditional CF method. The results of experiments demonstrate that utilizing the document preferences and knowledge referencing behavior of workers can effectively improve the quality of recommendations and facilitate efficient knowledge sharing.  相似文献

The current competitive industrial context requires more flexible, intelligent and compact product lifecycles, especially in the product development process where several lifecycle issues have to be considered, so as to deliver lifecycle oriented products. This paper describes the application of a novel product relationships management approach, in the context of product lifecycle management (PLM), enabling concurrent product design and assembly sequence planning. Previous work has provided a foundation through a theoretical framework, enhanced by the paradigm of product relational design and management. This statement therefore highlights the concurrent and proactive aspect of assembly oriented design vision. Central to this approach is the establishment and implementation of a complex and multiple viewpoints of product development addressing various stakeholders design and assembly planning points of view. By establishing such comprehensive relationships and identifying related relationships among several lifecycle phases, it is then possible to undertake the product design and assembly phases concurrently. Specifically, the proposed work and its application enable the management of product relationship information at the interface of product-process data management techniques. Based on the theory, models and techniques such as described in previous work, the implementation of a new hub application called PEGASUS is then described. Also based on web service technology, PEGASUS can be considered as a mediator application and/or an enabler for PLM that externalises product relationships and enables the control of information flow with internal regulation procedures. The feasibility of the approach is justified and the associated benefits are reported with a mechanical assembly as a case study.  相似文献

As the latest stage of learning and training evolution, e-Learning is supposed to provide intelligent functionalities not only in processing multi-media education resources but also in supporting context-sensitive pedagogical education processes. Towards providing an integrated solution for intelligent multimedia e-Learning, this paper presents a context-aware knowledge management framework named ConKMeL. Proposed framework features a semantic context-based approach for representing and integrating information and knowledge in e-Learning. Requirement analysis in university e-Learning environments shows that knowledge communications are usually in a hybrid mode across different conceptual levels. Based on the fact, a multi-layer contextual knowledge representation model called KG (knowledge graph) is presented. Corresponding key issues in development such as context-based knowledge retrieval and logical knowledge interpretation are discussed. On the application side, a scenario-based learning case study is shown to demonstrate the concepts and techniques developed in the ConKMeL framework.

In this era of knowledge economy, appropriate management of the rapidly evolving knowledge is a real and urgent issue for factories and enterprises, in order to maintain the competitive edges. However, facing the onerous analysis required for understanding the long-term knowledge evolution, especially the evolving of empirical knowledge in the engineering field, effective and comprehensive modeling methods for knowledge evolution are absent. In this paper, a novel knowledge evolution modeling method is proposed for portraying the long-term evolution of empirical engineering knowledge (EEK) and assisting engineers in comprehending the evolving history. Three phases, EEK elicitation and formalization, EEK networks foundation, and family-tree evolution model construction, are included in the modeling method. This method is developed using natural language processing, semantic similarity calculation, fuzzy neural network prediction, clustering algorithm, and latent topic extraction techniques. To evaluate the performance of the proposed modeling method, an evolution model of empirical knowledge in computer-aided design (CAD) is constructed and then verified. Experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms the former approaches in feasibility and effectiveness, and hence opens up a better way of further understanding the long-term evolution course of EEK.  相似文献

In the previous years, the evolution of the telematics technology has introduced a new scenario of human–computer operation where the achievement of an adequate level of user–system interaction has become a key aspect. This issue is specially relevant in real-time management scenarios where the system is intended to provide an intelligent support to human operators in the decision-making task. This paper proposes the use of advanced knowledge-based models to support human–computer interaction in the context of real-time decision for management problems. The approach is mainly based on endowing intelligent systems with an introspection capability that makes possible an adaptive performance to the characteristics of the interaction. This capability is supported by a reflective architecture where a metalevel layer dynamically configures reasoning strategies to generate the required answers by looking into a structured collection of problem-solving components. The approach was developed and applied within the FLUIDS project, an European Commission Telematics Applications research project. The proposal is illustrated with an example in the domain of real-time private traffic management in the city of Turin.  相似文献

Architecture for knowledge discovery and knowledge management   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
In this paper, we propose I-MIN model for knowledge discovery and knowledge management in evolving databases. The model splits the KDD process into three phases. The schema designed during the first phase, abstracts the generic mining requirements of the KDD process and provides a mapping between the generic KDD process and (user) specific KDD subprocesses. The generic process is executed periodically during the second phase and windows of condensed knowledge called knowledge concentrates are created. During the third phase, which corresponds to actual mining by the end users, specific KDD subprocesses are invoked to mine knowledge concentrates. The model provides a set of mining operators for the development of mining applications to discover and renew, preserve and reuse, and share knowledge for effective knowledge management. These operators can be invoked by either using a declarative query language or by writing applications. The architectural proposal emulates a DBMS like environment for the managers, administrators and end users in the organization. Knowledge management functions, like sharing and reuse of the discovered knowledge among the users and periodic updating of the discovered knowledge are supported. Complete documentation and control of all the KDD endeavors in an organization are facilitated by the I-MIN model. This helps in structuring and streamlining the KDD operations in an organization.  相似文献
