Location-based services (LBSs) have long been identified as an important component of emerging mobile services. While outdoor positioning has become strongly established, systems dealing with indoor positioning in urban environment are still under development. The upcoming LBSs require positioning systems (PSs) that are available ubiquitously, which requires the integration of the PS available in an outdoor environment with the PS available in indoor environment. Global navigation satellite systems (GNSSs) such as GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and QZSS are some of the prominent systems that provide outdoor positioning. Indoor positioning systems (IPSs), however, are undergoing rapid development, and these systems can be supplied using short-range wireless technologies such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, RFID, and Infrared. Among these technologies, intense research is being conducted into Wi-Fi-based positioning systems due to their ubiquitous presence. This paper presents a model and results for a ubiquitous positioning system (UPS) that integrates a novel WLAN-based IPS and GNSS. The IPS is developed using cascading artificial neural networks, which are further optimized using genetic algorithms. The systems were thoroughly investigated on an actual Wi-Fi network at Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand. The IPS demonstrated a mean accuracy of 2.10 m and the UPS demonstrated a mean accuracy of 3.26 m, with 89% of the distance error within the range of 0–3.5 m.  相似文献

3-D Networks-on-Chip (NoCs) have been proposed as a potent solution to address both the interconnection and design complexity problems facing future System-on-Chip (SoC) designs. In this paper, two topology-aware multicast routing algorithms, Multicasting XYZ (MXYZ) and Alternative XYZ (AL + XYZ) algorithms in supporting of 3-D NoC are proposed. In essence, MXYZ is a simple dimension order multicast routing algorithm that targets 3-D NoC systems built upon regular topologies. To support multicast routing in irregular regions, AL + XYZ can be applied, where an alternative output channel is sought to forward/replicate the packets whenever the output channel determined by MXYZ is not available. To evaluate the performance of MXYZ and AL + XYZ, extensive experiments have been conducted by comparing MXYZ and AL + XYZ against a path-based multicast routing algorithm and an irregular region oriented multiple unicast routing algorithm, respectively. The experimental results confirm that the proposed MXYZ and AL + XYZ schemes, respectively, have lower latency and power consumption than the other two routing algorithms, meriting the two proposed algorithms to be more suitable for supporting multicasting in 3-D NoC systems. In addition, the hardware implementation cost of AL + XYZ is shown to be quite modest.  相似文献

The content addressable memory (CAM) based solutions are very useful in network applications due to its high speed parallel search mechanism. This paper presents a novel Ternary CAM (TCAM) based NAND Pseudo CMOS–Longest Prefix Match (NPC–LPM) search engine. The proposed system provides a simple hardware based solution using novel 11T TCAM cell structures and NPC word line technique, for network routers. The experiments were performed on 256 × 128 NPC–LPM system under 0.13 μm technology. The simulation result shows that the proposed design provides low power dissipation of 5.78 mW and high search speed of 315 MSearches/s under 1.3 V supply voltage. The presented NPC–LPM system meets the speed requirement of Optical Carrier (OC) 3072 with line-rate of 160 Gb/s in Ethernet networking and IPv6 protocol. The experimental results also show that the proposed system improves power-performance by 65%.  相似文献

室内电力线通信PLC和可见光通信VLC融合系统的设计需要对融合系统的参考模型进行研究。传统的电力线通信和可见光通信融合信道的分析模型没有对融合系统的信道模型参数进行确定,因此模型只能定性地描述融合信道的一般特性。通过对典型场景下融合信道的实际测量,提出了电力线通信和可见光通信融合系统的参考模型,该模型由一小组参数决定。基于最小二乘法对模型参数进行拟合,进而得到融合信道模型参数,继而增加了融合信道模型的实用性。 搭建的融合系统验证了参考模型的正确性,结果表明所提出的融合信道模型能很好地描述实测的融合信道传输特性。  相似文献

This paper presents a low power and low phase noise CMOS integer-N frequency synthesizer based on the charge-pump Phase Locked Loop (PLL) topology. The frequency synthesizer can be used for IEEE 802.16 unlicensed band of WiMAX (World Interoperability for Microwave Access). The operation frequency of the proposed design is ranged from 5.13 to 5.22 GHz. The proposed Voltage-Controlled Oscillator (VCO) achieves low power consumption and low phase noise. The high speed divider is implemented by an optimal extended true single phase clock (E-TSPC) prescaler. It can achieve higher operating frequency and lower power consumption. A new frequency divider is also proposed to eliminate the hardware overhead of the S counter in the conventional programmable divider. The proposed frequency synthesizer consists of a phase-frequency detector (PFD), a charge pump, a low-pass loop filter, a VCO, and a frequency divider. The simulated phase noise of the proposed VCO is −121.6 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset from the carrier frequency. The proposed frequency synthesizer consumes 13.1 mW. The chip with an area of 1.048 × 1.076 mm2 is fabricated in a TSMC 0.18 μm CMOS 1P6M technology process.  相似文献

In this paper, a new approach for multiyear expansion planning of distribution systems (MEPDS) is presented. The proposed MEPDS model optimally specifies the expansion schedule of distribution systems including reinforcement scheme of distribution feeders as well as sizing and location of distributed generations (DGs) during a certain planning horizon. Moreover, it can determine the optimal timing (i.e. year) of each investment/reinforcement. The objective function of the proposed MEPDS model minimizes the total investment, operation and emission costs while satisfying various technical and operational constraints. In order to solve the presented MEPDS model as a complicated multi-dimensional optimization problem, a new two-stage solution approach composed of binary modified imperialist competitive algorithm (BMICA) and Improved Shark Smell Optimization (ISSO), i.e. BMICA + ISSO, is presented. The performance of the suggested MEPDS model and also two-stage solution approach of BMICA + ISSO is verified by applying them on two distribution systems including a classic 34-bus and a real-world 94-bus distribution system as well as a well-known benchmark function. Additionally, the achieved results of BMICA + ISSO are compared with the obtained results of other two-stage solution methods.  相似文献

In this paper, a hybrid wireless sensor network (WSN) system is considered and implemented for the building energy management systems. Characteristics of the radios, which are based on the 2.4 GHz and 400 MHz bands, respectively, are analyzed for the building environments. For battery-operated portable sensors, narrow-bandwidth radios of the 400 MHz band are employed in a star connection between their parent nodes. Between the parent nodes, a mesh network is constructed for an efficient and fast data transmission based on the wide-bandwidth radios of the 2.4 GHz band. The hybrid WSN system is implemented and tested for a building environment and provides a reliable wireless communication link for gathering sensing data.  相似文献

Various sensory and control signals in a Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system are closely interrelated which give rise to severe redundancies between original signals. These redundancies may cripple the generalization capability of an automatic fault detection and diagnosis (AFDD) algorithm. This paper proposes an unsupervised feature selection approach and its application to AFDD in a HVAC system. Using Ensemble Rapid Centroid Estimation (ERCE), the important features are automatically selected from original measurements based on the relative entropy between the low- and high-frequency features. The materials used is the experimental HVAC fault data from the ASHRAE-1312-RP datasets containing a total of 49 days of various types of faults and corresponding severity. The features selected using ERCE (Median normalized mutual information (NMI) = 0.019) achieved the least redundancies compared to those selected using manual selection (Median NMI = 0.0199) Complete Linkage (Median NMI = 0.1305), Evidence Accumulation K-means (Median NMI = 0.04) and Weighted Evidence Accumulation K-means (Median NMI = 0.048). The effectiveness of the feature selection method is further investigated using two well-established time-sequence classification algorithms: (a) Nonlinear Auto-Regressive Neural Network with eXogenous inputs and distributed time delays (NARX-TDNN); and (b) Hidden Markov Models (HMM); where weighted average sensitivity and specificity of: (a) higher than 99% and 96% for NARX-TDNN; and (b) higher than 98% and 86% for HMM is observed. The proposed feature selection algorithm could potentially be applied to other model-based systems to improve the fault detection performance.  相似文献

The cuff-less continuous blood pressure monitoring provides reliable and invaluable information about the individuals’ health condition. Conventional sphygmomanometer with a cuff measures only the value of the blood pressure intermittently and the measurement process is sometimes inconvenient. In this work, a systematic approach with multi-parameter fusion has been proposed to estimate the non-invasive beat-to-beat systolic and diastolic blood pressure with high accuracy. The methods involve real-time monitoring of the electrocardiogram (ECG) and photoplethysmogram (PPG), and extracting the R peak from the ECG and relevant feature parameters from the synchronous PPG. Also, it covers the creation of the topological model of back-propagation neural network that has fifteen neurons in the input layer, ten neurons in the single interlayer, and two neurons in the output layer, where all the neurons are fully connected. As for the results, the proposed method was validated on the volunteers. The reference blood pressure (BP) is from Finometer (MIDI, Finapres Medical System, Netherlands). The results showed that the mean ± S.D. for the estimated systolic BP (SBP) and diastolic BP (DBP) with the proposed method against reference were −0.41 ± 2.02 mmHg and 0.46 ± 2.21 mmHg, respectively. Thus, the continuous blood pressure algorithm based on Back-Propagation neural network provides a continuous BP with a high accuracy.  相似文献

This paper presents a new bi-side gate driver integrated by indium-zinc-oxide thin film transistors (IZO TFTs). Our optimized operate method can achieve high speed performance by employing a lower duty ratio (25%) CK2 with its pulse located in the middle of the pulse of CK2L to fully use the bootstrapped high voltage of node Q. In addition, the size of devices is optimized by calculation and simulation, and the function of the proposed gate driver is predicted by the circuit simulation. Furthermore, the proposed gate driver with 20 stages is fabricated by the IZO TFTs process. It is shown that a 2.6 μs width pulse with good noise-suppressed characteristic can be successfully output at the condition of Rload = 6 kΩ and Cload = 150 pF. The power consumption of the proposed gate driver with 20 stages is measured as 1 mW. Hence, the proposed gate driver may be applied to the display of 4K resolution (4096 × 2160) at a frame rate of 120 Hz. Moreover, there is a good stability for the proposed gate driver under 48 h operation.  相似文献

Wireless communication over LTE (long term evolution) brings several design challenges to industry and academia, due to its high throughput demand. Specially in the case of hand held mobile devices where the power budget is very limited and high throughput requires more computation power. On the other hand, the industry is struggling for flexible hardware solution, a Software Defined Radio (SDR), to amortize huge costs of hardware changes to suit the continued evolution in wireless standards. In this article, an MPSoC design has been presented for the baseband processing of a 20 MHz LTE system. Transport Triggered Architecture (TTA) has been preferred over conventional DSPs/VLIW architectures as processing element (PE) of MPSoC. Processing tasks are statically scheduled. Synchronization among the PEs is based on polling of a shared memory space. In addition an approach is presented to organize I/O buffer in such a way that the stalling probability of a PE should be reduced to exploit efficiently data and task level parallelism. The total power consumption by all the PEs synthesized on 130 nm technology at 200 MHz and 1.5 V is 105.04 mW. The total energy consumption to process one subframe including carrier recovery is 0.0767 mJ. Our study shows that TTA architecture brings several improvements in conventional SIMD/VLIW architectures. TTA as contrary to other run time designs has a guaranteed performance and lower energy consumption due to the fact that all the data dependency/independency issues are resolved at compile time. Further, it is also true due to the fact that TTA has a reduced register file (RF) traffic, number of RF ports and lower overall cycle count for a given task. To the best of author’s knowledge this article is among the first few published articles on LTE receiver implementation with published figures like time, frequency, power and perhaps the first article explaining further in detail about data access pattern to process an LTE subframe, memory organization, subsystem interconnection, and synchronization.  相似文献

In this study, the effect of the illuminance of LED lamps on long term memory is verified in the conditions of 400 lx, 700 lx, 1000 lx according to the standards of study room illuminance between 400 lx, the minimum and 1000 lx, the maximum suggested by KSA 3011. Word fragment task is used to measure the long term memory. As a dependent task, 90 words made up of 7 letters are selected among 2700 words which have low frequency provided by sesame word. According to the experiment result, the rate of long term memory is 60.42% under the condition of 400 lx, which is the most effective, 59.38% under the condition of 700 lx, and 52.68% under 1000 lx. In addition, the p value between 400 lx and 1000 lx is 0.028, which is statistically significant. The significance of this study lies in that the effect of the illuminance of LED lamps on long term memory, rather than the existing issues such as attentiveness or work memory is searched, suggesting the possibility that the lower, rather than lighter the illuminance of LED light is, the more effective long term memory is.  相似文献

This paper gives an overview of 60 GHz indoor wireless channel characteristics and an effect on phase noise. The performance of OFDM system is severely degraded by the local oscillator phase noise, which causes both common phase error (CPE) and inter-carrier interference (ICI). In this paper, the phase noise suppression (PNS) algorithm in order to reduce the phase noise in OFDM-based 60 GHz WPANs is considered. The PNS algorithm is very simple and easily designed to realize system but it requires more effort to reduce the IC.  相似文献

Common projection optics use Köhler illumination to achieve a required lighting. These systems always prevent the realization of a compact optical configuration along with a high lumen output. Based on conventional Köhler illumination, a modified Köhler illumination system for LED-based projection display is presented in this paper, which can significantly reduce the system volume while allowing for adequate and homogeneous illumination. Equipped with the proposed system, a pocket-sized CF-LCoS projector with a physical dimension of 27.4 mm × 19.4 mm × 9.6 mm is designed, simulated and analyzed. Compared to conventional approaches, this design could offer an average 43% volume reduction with acceptable tolerance. To the best of our knowledge, the screen uniformity of 90.2% and the light efficiency of 56.5% are competitive as compared with those of the currently commercialized pocket-sized CF-LCoS projectors.  相似文献

In this paper, the energy consumption of high speed access services up to 1 Gb/s per customer is estimated for different passive optical network (PON) technologies. While other studies on PON power consumption typically assume a fixed split ratio, we also consider a greenfield approach, where the split ratio can be optimized for each technology, taking full advantage of its capacity and reach. The split ratio optimization takes into account Quality of Service (QoS) in terms of bandwidth availability and packet loss for triple-play services (voice, television and Internet). This paper includes an in-depth discussion of our split ratio dimensioning approach and our power consumption model for an optical access network in a major city. The obtained results show that statistical gain provided by dynamic bandwidth allocation as well as power splitting ratio optimization in PONs are key factors for achieving energy efficiency. For access rates up to 900 Mb/s, XG-PON1 turns out to be the most energy efficient option. For higher access rates up to 1 Gb/s, the optimal technology depends on split ratio restrictions. If an existing optical distribution network (ODN) with split ratio 1:64 is used, XG-PON1 remains the most energy efficient technology. If higher split ratios up to 1:256 can be achieved, TWDM PON becomes the most energy efficient solution for access rates up to 1 Gb/s.  相似文献

The power transfer capacity of an underground power cable is limited by high-temperature regions that occur along the cable. It is very difficult to determine and control these ‘hot spots’. Optimum use and temperature profile control of power cables before and during load transmission can be achieved with real-time processing of temperature data. There are various methods developed for this purpose such as conventional point temperature measurement method, where a large number of sensors and connectors are required, and methods based on mathematical models which can only approach real values by approximation.In this study, temperature detection in an XLPE insulated 154 kV power cable is performed using a distributed sensing method where the optical fiber itself behaves as a sensor. Therefore, there is no need for the devices of conventional method. Moreover, contrary to methods based on mathematical models, where it is difficult to predict environmental variations, this method considers the variations with a temperature resolution of ±1 °C. Distributed temperature sensing (DTS) method, detection system configuration and required system parameters are explained in the paper. Experimental results obtained for 126 and 412 m cables show a temperature resolution of ±1 °C and a spatial resolution of 1.22 m. Simulations for a 10 km cable are also given. Results show that DTS is a reliable method for both short and long range cable systems.  相似文献

A search based heuristic for the optimisation of communication networks where traffic forecasts are uncertain and the problem is NP-complete is presented. While algorithms such as genetic algorithms (GA) and simulated annealing (SA) are often used for this class of problem, this work applies a combination of newer optimisation techniques specifically: fast local search (FLS) as an improved hill climbing method and guided local search (GLS) to allow escape from local minima. The GLS + FLS combination is compared with an optimised GA and SA approaches. It is found that in terms of implementation, the parameterisation of the GLS + FLS technique is significantly simpler than that for a GA and SA. Also, the self-regularisation feature of the GLS + FLS approach provides a distinctive advantage over the other techniques which require manual parameterisation. To compare numerical performance, the three techniques were tested over a number of network sets varying in size, number of switch circuit demands (network bandwidth demands) and levels of uncertainties on the switch circuit demands. The results show that the GLS + FLS outperforms the GA and SA techniques in terms of both solution quality and optimisation speed but even more importantly GLS + FLS has significantly reduced parameterisation time.  相似文献

In this article, artificial neural network (ANN) is adopted to predict photovoltaic (PV) panel behaviors under realistic weather conditions. ANN results are compared with analytical four and five parameter models of PV module. The inputs of the models are the daily total irradiation, air temperature and module voltage, while the outputs are the current and power generated by the panel. Analytical models of PV modules, based on the manufacturer datasheet values, are simulated through Matlab/Simulink environment. Multilayer perceptron is used to predict the operating current and power of the PV module. The best network configuration to predict panel current had a 3–7–4–1 topology. So, this two hidden layer topology was selected as the best model for predicting panel current with similar conditions. Results obtained from the PV module simulation and the optimal ANN model has been validated experimentally. Results showed that ANN model provide a better prediction of the current and power of the PV module than the analytical models. The coefficient of determination (R2), mean square error (MSE) and the mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) values for the optimal ANN model were 0.971, 0.002 and 0.107, respectively. A comparative study among ANN and analytical models was also carried out. Among the analytical models, the five-parameter model, with MAPE = 0.112, MSE = 0.0026 and R2 = 0.919, gave better prediction than the four-parameter model (with MAPE = 0.152, MSE = 0.0052 and R2 = 0.905). Overall, the 3–7–4–1 ANN model outperformed four-parameter model, and was marginally better than the five-parameter model.  相似文献

In this study, we developed a thin plasmonic color sheet (TPCS) embedded with Al subwavelength gratings for use in flexible optical transmission filters, and experimentally demonstrated its transmission characteristics. Al subwavelength gratings were formed in a freestanding thin poly-para-xylylene (parylene-N) film less than 1-μm thick by using electron beam (EB) direct writing and sacrificial etching. The fabricated TPCS contained Al subwavelength gratings with periods ranging from 400 nm to 600 nm, and succeeded in shifting the transmission peak wavelength from 510 nm to 650 nm in the visible range. The freestanding thin parylene-N film deposited by room-temperature chemical vapor deposition provided enough flatness to the TPCS with a height difference of 900 nm in a whole filter area, resulting in uniform transmission spectra. The experimentally obtained peak shift dependent on the grating period agreed well with theoretical calculation results.  相似文献
