We address the problem of nondata aided frequency offset estimation for noncircular transmissions over frequency-selective channels in a linear precoder-based communications context. Linear precoding is representative of a downlink direct-sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) system or of an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system. We observe that twice the frequency offset is a cyclic frequency of the received signal. We thus introduce an estimator relying on the maximization of the empirical cyclocorrelations. We analyze its asymptotic behavior and obtain a closed-form expression for the asymptotic covariance. This enables us to design relevant system parameters. Numerical illustrations are provided and confirm our theoretical assertions. Comparisons with existing methods are also reported.  相似文献

This paper introduces a blind (i.e., data independent) algorithm for carrier frequency offset recovery in an orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) receiver operating over frequency-selective fading channels. The main idea behind this algorithm is to exploit the time-frequency-domain exchange inherent to the modulation scheme. Due to this feature, a carrier frequency offset has a similar impact on OFDM as a clock timing offset has in a quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) system. The scheme we propose is a variant of Oerder-Meyr's (1988) feedforward clock recovery. Its performance is assessed by simulation, and the results are compared to those obtained from Van de Beek-Sandell-Borjesson's (1997) frequency synchronizer, which bears comparable complexity. The new scheme is shown to outperform the latter over frequency-selective fading channels, notably at medium to high signal-to-noise ratios. We also evaluated the efficiency of two different (time domain and frequency domain) offset correction strategies embedded in a particular OFDM receiver.  相似文献

This paper deals with the problem of joint symbol timing and carrier-frequency offset (CFO) estimation in orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) systems with noncircular (NC) transmissions. Maximum-likelihood (ML) estimators of symbol timing and CFO have been derived under the assumption of nondispersive channel and by modeling the OFDM signal vector as a circular complex Gaussian random vector (C-CGRV). The Gaussian assumption is reasonable when the number of subcarriers is sufficiently large. However, if the data symbols belong to an NC constellation, the received signal vector becomes an NC-CGRV, i.e., a CGRV whose relation matrix (defined as the statistical expectation of the product between the vector and its transpose) is not identically zero. Hence, in this case, previously mentioned estimators, termed MLC estimators, are not ML estimators. In this paper, by exploiting the joint probability density function for NC-CGRVs, ML estimators are derived. Moreover, since their implementation complexity is high, feasible computational algorithms are considered. Finally, refined symbol timing estimators, apt to counteract the degrading effects of intersymbol interference (ISI) in dispersive channels, are suggested. The performance of the derived estimators is assessed via computer simulation and compared with that of MLC estimators and that of modified MLC (MMLC) estimators exploiting only ISI-free samples of the cyclic prefix.  相似文献

A procedure for selecting a training sequence (TS) is developed for frequency estimation in frequency-selective channels. An expression for the unconditional Crame/spl acute/r-Rao bound (UCRB) is obtained by averaging the CRB for frequency estimation over the probability density function of Gaussian random channels. In addition, a necessary and sufficient condition for minimizing the UCRB is derived. Based on these results, a procedure for selecting a TS is developed. Through a computer search, binary TSs up to length 24 are found and tabulated. It is observed that periodic TSs tend to be selected when the TS length is twice the channel duration. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed TSs can enhance the performance of the maximum likelihood (ML) frequency estimate.  相似文献

This paper addresses an optimal periodic training signal design for frequency offset estimation in frequency-selective multipath Rayleigh fading channels. For a fixed transmitted training signal energy within a fixed-length block, the optimal periodic training signal structure (the optimal locations of identical training subblocks) and the optimal training subblock signal are presented. The optimality is based on the minimum Cramer-Rao bound (CRB) criterion. Based on the CRB for joint estimation of frequency offset and channel, the optimal periodic training structure (optimality only in frequency offset estimation, not necessarily in joint frequency offset and channel estimation) is derived. The optimal training subblock signal is obtained by using the average CRB (averaged over the channel fading) and the received training signal statistics. A robust training structure design is also presented in order to reduce the occurrence of outliers at low signal-to-noise ratio values. The proposed training structures and subblock signals achieve substantial performance improvement.  相似文献

This article proposes a new algorithm of joint channel and carrier frequency-offset OCCFO) estimation for multi-user multi-input and multi-output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) systems. A least square (LS) channel estimation and a carrier frequency offset (CFO) correlation estimation are combined in this contribution. CFOs are generally estimated using training sequences in a special synchronization timeslot. In this contribution, CFO estimation is further improved by taking advantages of channel estimation based on pilot symbols in traffic timeslots. The CFOs can be first obtained from the primary channel estimation. And then, with the knowledge of the CFOs estimated, channel estimation can be enhanced greatly. Computer simulation results indicate that the proposed JCCFO scheme is of good performance. Besides, the computational complexity is low.  相似文献

The problem of blindly estimating the parameters of a Doppler channel for noncircular transmissions in multiple-access communication systems is addressed. A nondata-aided algorithm based on the cyclostationarity features of the received signal is proposed to estimate amplitude, phase, time delay, and frequency shift of each user. Under mild assumptions on the disturbance and user signals, the proposed method provides estimates of the unknown parameters that are mean-square consistent. Moreover, the proposed algorithm is asymptotically near-far resistant, and is not based on the usual assumption of white and/or Gaussian noise.  相似文献

We study space-time block coding for single-carrier block transmissions over frequency-selective multipath fading channels. We propose novel transmission schemes that achieve a maximum diversity of order N/sub t/N/sub r/(L+1) in rich scattering environments, where N/sub t/ (N/sub r/) is the number of transmit (receive) antennas, and L is the order of the finite impulse response (FIR) channels. We show that linear receiver processing collects full antenna diversity, while the overall complexity remains comparable to that of single-antenna transmissions over frequency-selective channels. We develop transmissions enabling maximum-likelihood optimal decoding based on Viterbi's ( 1998) algorithm, as well as turbo decoding. With single receive and two transmit antennas, the proposed transmission format is capacity achieving. Simulation results demonstrate that joint exploitation of space-multipath diversity leads to significantly improved performance in the presence of frequency-selective fading channels.  相似文献

针对正交频分复用(OFDM)系统,提出了一种低复杂度、高性能的载波频偏盲估计 方法。该方法充分利用载波频偏估计代价函数在一定区间内的单谷特性,采用黄金分割法搜 索载波频偏估计代价函数极值,从而大大降低其计算复杂度。最后对该方法和Tureli′s MU SIC-like(TML)载波频偏估计方法在加性高斯白噪声信道和多径信道环境下进行了仿真,结 果表明, 在同等条件下该方法的计算复杂度大大低于TML载波频偏估计方法。  相似文献

Most of the blind Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) Carrier Frequency Offset (CFO) estimators necessitate large number of samples to ensure the estimation accuracy. However, the number of samples can not be selected too large because of the carrier offset drift. In this letter, a new closed form algorithm for blind OFDM CFO estimation in frequency-selective channel is proposed. This method utilizes the propagator obtained from data matrix and the diagonal loading technique, thus it has better performance even only using one or two OFDM blocks. Furthermore, the range of the CFO estimation which can be handled is overall transmission spectral. Simulation results confirm its effectiveness.  相似文献

In code-division multiple-access (CDMA) transmissions, computing the multiuser minimum mean-squared error (MMSE) detector coefficients requires the inversion of the covariance matrix associated to the received vector signal, an operation usually difficult to implement when the spreading factor and the number of users are large. It is therefore interesting to approximate the inverse by a matrix polynomial. In this correspondence, means for computing the polynomial coefficients are proposed in the context of CDMA downlink transmissions on frequency-selective channels, the users having possibly different powers. Derivations are made in the asymptotic regime where the spreading factor and the number of users grow toward infinity at the same rate. Results pertaining to the mathematics of large random matrices, and in particular to free probability theory, are used. Spreading matrices are modeled as isometric random matrices (spreading vectors orthonormality is a natural assumption in downlink) and also as random matrices with independent and identically distributed (i.i.d.) elements.  相似文献

The paper introduces and analyzes the asymptotic (large sample) performance of a family of blind feedforward nonlinear least-squares (NLS) estimators for joint estimation of carrier phase, frequency offset, and Doppler rate for burst-mode phase-shift keying transmissions. An optimal or "matched" nonlinear estimator that exhibits the smallest asymptotic variance within the family of envisaged blind NLS estimators is developed. The asymptotic variance of these estimators is established in closed-form expression and shown to approach the Cramer-Rao lower bound of an unmodulated carrier at medium and high signal-to-noise ratios (SNR). Monomial nonlinear estimators that do not depend on the SNR are also introduced and shown to perform similarly to the SNR-dependent matched nonlinear estimator. Computer simulations are presented to corroborate the theoretical performance analysis.  相似文献

This paper provides an approximate closed form solution to the problem of data-aided joint maximum likelihood estimation of the carrier frequency offset and of the channel impulse response in an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing transmission over a multipath fading channel. This results in a novel pilot-aided feedforward estimator, that can be employed for pilot-based receiver training. It is also shown how the novel joint estimation strategy can be exploited in an iterative (turbo) receiver structure to track the fast channel and frequency offset changes occurring during the transmission of information symbols. The performance of this structure is assessed by computer simulations and is compared with that provided by other estimation/detection strategies.  相似文献

In this paper, space-time block-coded transmission over frequency-selective fading channels is investigated. A lower bound for the pairwise error probability for optimum detection is given. Also, an approximation for the bit-error rate is derived and compared with simulation results for maximum-likelihood sequence estimation (MLSE) for the GSM/EDGE (Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution) system. Furthermore, a novel design rule for space-time block codes (STBCs) for frequency-selective fading channels is provided. A corresponding code is designed and shown to yield higher performance than Alamouti's code. It is demonstrated that for fading channels with L independent impulse response coefficients, STBCs designed for the flat fading channel can achieve at most a diversity order of (N/sub T/+L-1)N/sub R/ if N/sub T/ transmit antennas and N/sub R/ receive antennas are used. In this letter, we evaluate the symbol error probability of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) with M-ary (M>4) phase shift keying (MPSK) impaired by carrier frequency offset (CFO). A signal space decomposition (SSD) approach is proposed for additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channels, and then the symbol error rate (SER) performance is expressed as the sum of an infinite series with the Beaulieu series. 针对正交频分复用系统频偏估计问题,提出了一种基于遗传算法的高精度盲频偏估计器。该算法首先将带载波间干扰的正交频分复用系统视为正交码分多址接入系统,将载波间干扰系数视为码分多址接入系统的扩频码,利用估计的载波频偏构造扩频码,进而重建接收信号;然后利用重建信号跟实际接收信号最小重建误差原则构造了盲频偏估计的代价函数,并设计了对应于遗传算法的适应度函数;最后利用遗传算法强大的并行搜索和全局寻优能力,通过最小化代价函数求得最佳频偏估值。仿真结果表明,所提算法具有较高的估计精度,低信噪比下性能显著,有效降低了时间复杂度,且不受频偏估计范围和信号调制类型的限制。  相似文献
