The coordination architecture and mechanisms are proposed for the goal-balancing process (GBP), which is one of the components of goal-formation process (GFP) in the fractal manufacturing system (FrMS). Since each agent in the FrMS generates, achieves and modifies its own goal autonomously during the coordination process with other agents, it is necessary to develop a systematic methodology for the goal-formations in a manufacturing system: GFP takes charge of this methodology, which enables the formation of and the changes in goal through coordination between agents in real-time in the distributed and dynamic systems. The GFP is composed of three sub-processes: the goal-generating process (GGP), the goal-harmonizing process (GHP), and the GBP. The GGP makes and propagates goals for all fractals. The GHP then eliminates or reduces possible conflicts and interferences between goals generated in GGP. The GBP is the post-process of GHP; it refines the fractal's goal, which has been ridded of conflict during the GHP to enhance the global performance of the system, rather than maximizing the performance of each fractal. For the development of the GBP we proposed a mechanism for unit goal-balancing process (UGBP), which is the basic process of GBP that adopts the, fuzzy decision-making, and distributed problem solving approaches.  相似文献

Assuring the process capability in nonlinear profiles to meet the requirement is a very important task. This paper aims at evaluating the process yield for nonlinear profiles in manufacturing processes. We present the statistical properties of the estimated SpkA and obtain its lower confidence bound. This index provides an exact measure of the process yield for nonlinear profiles. A simulation study is conducted to assess the performance of the proposed method. The simulation results confirm that the estimated SpkA value is close to the target value and has the smallest standard deviation. Zero defection manufacturing (ZDM) is the pursuit of the manufacturing industry. However, there is a lack of the implementation method of ZDM in the multi-stage manufacturing process (MMP). Implementing ZDM and controlling product quality in MMP remains an urgent problem in intelligent manufacturing. A novel predict-prevention quality control method in MMP towards ZDM is proposed, including quality characteristics monitoring, key quality characteristics prediction, and assembly quality optimization. The stability of the quality characteristics is detected by analyzing the distribution of quality characteristics. By considering the correlations between different quality characteristics, a deep supervised long-short term memory (SLSTM) prediction network is built for time series prediction of quality characteristics. A long-short term memory-genetic algorithm (LSTM-GA) network is proposed to optimize the assembly quality. By utilizing the proposed quality control method in MMP, unqualified products can be avoided, and ZDM of MMP is implemented. Extensive empirical evaluations on the MMP of compressors validate the applicability and practicability of the proposed method. Two indices Cp(circular) and Cpk(circular) based on the functional method have been proposed to measure the process capability of circular profiles. However, these two indices only provide potential capability and a lower bound on the process yield, respectively. In this paper, we develop a new yield index Spk(circular) for circular profiles. This index provides an exact measure of process yield. The asymptotic normal distribution of the estimated index is derived. The statistical inferences such as hypothesis testing, confidence interval, and lower confidence interval can be easily constructed. A simulation study is conducted to assess the performance of the proposed method. The simulation results confirm that the estimates are close to the true value and the coverage rates of the confidence intervals are greater than the 95% lower limit of the stated nominal in most cases. A multiple stream process consists of several identical process streams. We present the process yield index for multiple stream processes with individual observations. An approximate distribution of the estimator of is derived. A simulation study is conducted to evaluate the performance of the confidence interval using the proposed method and the existing method. The simulation results show that the proposed method outperforms the existing method regarding interval length. We extend this process yield index for the case of subsamples. An approximate distribution for the estimator of is also derived. Two real examples are used to demonstrate the performance of the proposed approach. The fractal manufacturing system (FrMS) is based on the concept of autonomously cooperating agents referred to as fractals. A fractal is a set of self-similar agents whose goal can be achieved through cooperation, coordination, and negotiation among the agents for themselves. A fractal has fractal-specific characteristics (e.g. self-similarity, self-organization, self-optimization, goal-orientation, and dynamics), and it also has the characteristics of an agent (e.g. autonomy, mobility, intelligence, cooperation, and adaptability) at the same time. In the FrMS, a goal can be regarded as the status which the system aspires to be in. The goal-formation process (GFP) in the FrMS is a process of generating goals and modifying them by coordination between agents. In the GFP, conflicts may occur between goals, which can drive a system to become inefficient. In this paper, a conflict resolution mechanism via agent-based negotiation is proposed for facilitating the GFP. The scheme deals with non-fixed goals. The mobile agent-based negotiation process (MANPro), in which a mobile agent is used for information-exchanging and problem-solving, is used for negotiations in this scheme. The proposed mechanism is illustrated with a goal formation scenario in an exemplary FrMS.  相似文献

In manufacturing applications, we often encounter process transitions due to a changeover in the production or perhaps an unknown perturbation. The main process improvement goal is to shorten the transition time by monitoring the process in order to quickly identify the start and end of the transition period and by actively adjusting the process during the transition. To address these issues, we propose a transition monitoring and adjustment methodology. A polymer process is used to illustrate this methodology. Using simulation, we characterize the impact of the transition adjustment on the effectiveness of monitoring. We show that the adaptive monitoring procedure is robust to small transition adjustments, thus supporting a complimentary application of process monitoring and process adjustment to improve process transitions. In recent years, additive manufacturing technologies have been playing an important role in the global economy. Consequently, low-cost 3D printers rose in the domestic environment, accelerating the development of startup companies and new market segments. Nevertheless, with regard to 3D printing based on fused filament fabrication, several challenges still need to be overcome, such as those related to surface finishing and mechanical strength. Moreover, 3D printing in the domestic environment also generates untreated plastic waste, which can cause environmental problems. For these reasons, the main goal of this work is to introduce and characterise 3D printing surface finishing post-processing using recycled plastic waste. As the main results of this work, the proposed recycling process was confirmed to improve object properties. Whereas surface roughness was reduced from 27 to 3?µm, while mechanical strength was increased in 20 times. The application of recycled material for chemical welding was also seen to be feasible.  相似文献

To meet the rapidly changing customer needs in the manufacturing environment, future manufacturing systems must be dynamically and flexibly reconfigured. The fractal manufacturing system (FrMS) is one of the new manufacturing paradigms that can meet such requirements. The basic component of the FrMS is referred to as a fractal. Consisting of self-similar agents, each fractal autonomously cooperates and negotiates with others to coordinate its tasks. Dynamic restructuring process (DRP) supports reorganization of the system configurations so that the FrMS can be adapted to dynamically changing environments. Although traditional approaches have endeavoured to demonstrate reconfigurability of a manufacturing system, they are not accurate enough to meet the requirements of circumstances such as high-level autonomy in reconfiguring the system architecture. In this paper, therefore, the DRP, which embodies self-reconfigurability of a system, is proposed focusing on the FrMS. To check the effectiveness of the DRP, we have developed the FrMS test bed and conducted the experimentation on the DRP. A simulation study has been conducted to show the effectiveness of the DRP under an illustrative situation.  相似文献

In recent years, several process capability indices have received considerable research attention and increased usage in evaluating process performance and purchasing decisions in manufacturing industries. In particular, the third-generation capability index Cpmk is constructed by taking process yield and quality loss into consideration. Unfortunately, the sampling distribution of the estimated Cpmk is complicated, making the establishment of the exact confidence interval very difficult. Thus, this study applies the concept of the generalised pivotal quantity (GPQ) to derive the generalised confidence interval (GCI) for the index Cpmk. To examine the performance and the effectiveness of the GCI approach, a series of simulations is undertaken. Three types of bootstrap methods are also implemented and compared with the proposed GCI approach. The results reveal that the proposed GCI approach is superior to the three bootstrap methods since the obtained coverage rates are very close to the nominal confidence level in most of our studied cases even for small sample sizes. Therefore, this article recommends the GCI approach for evaluating process performance in real applications.  相似文献

In many industrial applications, the quality of a process or product can be characterized by a function or profile. Owing to spatial autocorrelation or time collapse, the assumption of the observations within each profile that are uncorrelated is violated. This paper aims at evaluating the process yield for linear within‐profile autocorrelation. We present an approximate lower confidence bound for SpkA when the observations within each profile follow a first‐order autoregressive AR(1) model. A simulation study is conducted to assess the performance of the proposed method. The simulation results confirm that the proposed method performs well for the bias, the standard deviation, and the coverage rate. Binary capacitated two-terminal reliability at demand level d (2TRd) is defined as the probability that network capacity, generated by binary capacitated components, between specified source and sink nodes is greater than or equal to a demand of d units. For the components that comprise these networks, reliability estimates are usually obtained from some source of testing. For these estimates and depending on the type of testing, there is an associated uncertainty that can significantly affect the overall estimation of 2TRd. That is, an accurate estimate of 2TRd is highly dependent on the uncertainty associated to the reliability of the network components. Current methods for the estimation of network reliability and associated uncertainty are restricted to the case where the network follows a series-parallel architecture and the components are binary and non-capacitated. For different capacitated network designs, an estimate on 2TRd can only be approximated for specific scenarios. This paper presents a bounding approach for 2TRd by explaining how component reliability and associated uncertainty impact estimates at the network level. The proposed method is based on a structured approach that generates a α-level confidence interval (CI) for binary capacitated two-terminal network reliability. Simulation results on different test networks show that the proposed methods can be used to develop very accurate bounds of two-terminal network reliability.  相似文献

This article proposes a discrete event simulation (DES) framework to analyse the impact of disturbances, their parameter values, and their interactions, on production line efficiency. The framework is demonstrated by means of a case study of a manufacturing process in an Indian automotive manufacturer. Various scenarios are generated and studied using design of experiment (DOE) to investigate the effects of changes in product, technology, cycle time, and worker competency, and to derive the optimal set of process and decision parameters.  相似文献
