Performance of nickel-loaded lignite char catalyst on conversion of coffee residue into synthesis gas by catalytic steam gasification was carried out at low reaction temperatures ranging from 500 °C to 650 °C in the two-stage quartz fixed bed reactor. The effects of steam pressures (30, 36 and 50 kPa corresponding to S/B = 2.23, 2.92 5.16, respectively) and catalyst to biomass ratios (C/B ratio = 0, 1, 3) were considered. Nickel-loaded lignite char was prepared as a catalyst with a low nickel loading amount of 12.9 wt%. The gas yields in the catalytic steam gasification process strongly depended on the reaction temperature and C/B ratio. The total gas yields obtained in catalytic steam gasification was higher than that of catalytic pyrolysis, steam gasification and non-catalytic pyrolysis with steam absence by factors of 3.0, 3.8 and 7.7, respectively. To produce the high synthesis gas, it could be taken at 600 °C with total gas yields of 67.13 and 127.18 mmol/g biomass-d.a.f. for C/B ratios of 1.0 and 3.0, respectively. However, the maximum H2/CO ratio was 3.57 at a reaction temperature of 600 °C, S/B of 2.23 and C/B of 1.0. Considering the conversion of coffee residue by catalytic steam gasification using the nickel-loaded lignite char catalyst, it is possible to covert the coffee residue volatiles into rich synthesis gas.  相似文献

In this study, different char based catalysts were evaluated in order to increase hydrogen production from the steam pyrolysis of olive pomace in two stage fixed bed reactor system. Biomass char, nickel loaded biomass char, coal char and nickel or iron loaded coal chars were used as catalyst. Acid washed biomass char was also tested to investigate the effect of inorganics in char on catalytic activity for hydrogen production. Catalysts were characterized by using Brunauer–Emmet–Teller (BET) method, X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyzer, X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA). The results showed that the steam in absence of catalyst had no influence on hydrogen production. Increase in catalytic bed temperature (from 500 °C to 700 °C) enhanced hydrogen production in presence of Ni-impregnated and non-impregnated biomass char. Inherent inorganic content of char had great effect on hydrogen production. Ni based biomass char exhibited the highest catalytic activity in terms of hydrogen production. Besides, Ni and Fe based coal char had catalytic activity on H2 production. On the other hand, the results showed that biomass char was not thermally stable under steam pyrolysis conditions. Weight loss of catalyst during steam pyrolysis could be attributed to steam gasification of biomass char itself. In contrast, properties of coal char based catalysts after steam pyrolysis process remained nearly unchanged, leading to better thermal stability than biomass char.  相似文献

The steam gasification characteristics of coal char produced two sub-bituminous coals of different origin have been investigated through modelling and experiments. The gasification experiments are carried out in an Isothermal mass loss apparatus over the temperature range of 800–900 °C using a gas mixture of 65% steam and 35% N2. A fully transient single particle gasification model, based on the random pore model, is developed incorporating reaction kinetics, heat and mass transport inside the porous char particle and the gas film. Stefan-Maxwell equation and Knudson diffusion are incorporated in the multi-component diffusion of species and pore diffusion. The model is validated with the experimental data of the present authors as well as that reported in the literature. The particle centre temperature is found to increase, then decrease and increase again to reach the reactor temperature finally, and the trend is more prominent for the larger particles. The pore opening phenomenon is more evident in SBC2 char, leading to a final char porosity of 0.65 vis-à-vis 0.52 in SBC1 and making it more reactive. Temporal evolution of contours of carbon conversion and concentration of other gaseous species like steam, H2O, H2, CO and CO2 in the particle are computed to investigate the gasification process. A higher temperature is found to favour both the rate peak and the total production of H2 for both the chars. The total H2 production from SBC2 char is found to be 0.0189 mol and 0.0236 mol at 800 and 850 °C, while the same for SBC1 char is0.0232 mol and 0.0290 mol respectively. The reaction follows the shrinking core model at the outset, shifting to the shrinking reactive core model subsequently.  相似文献

Research on hydrogen production from coal gasification is mainly focused on the formation of CO and H2 from coal and water vapor in high-temperature environments. However, in the process of underground coal gasification, the water gas shift reaction of low-temperature steam will absorb a lot of heat, which makes it difficult to maintain the combustion of coal seams in the process of underground coal gasification. In order to obtain high-quality hydrogen, a pure oxygen-steam gasification process is used to improve the gasification efficiency. And as the gasification surface continues to recede, the drying, pyrolysis, gasification and combustion reactions of underground coal seams gradually occur. Direct coal gasification can't truly reflect the process of underground coal gasification. In order to simulate the hydrogen production laws of different coal types in the underground gasification process realistically, a two-step gasification process (pyrolysis of coal followed by gasification of the char) was proposed to process coal to produce hydrogen-rich gas. First, the effects of temperature and coal rank on product distribution were studied in the pyrolysis process. Then, the coal char at the final pyrolysis temperature of 900 °C was gasified with pure oxygen-steam. The results showed that, the hydrogen production of the three coal chars increased with the increase of temperature during the pyrolysis process, the hydrogen release from Inner Mongolia lignite and Xinjiang long flame coal have the same trend, and the bimodality is obvious. The hydrogen release in the first stage mainly comes from the dehydrogenation of the fat side chain, and the hydrogen release in the second stage mainly comes from the polycondensation reaction in the later stage of pyrolysis, and the pyrolysis process of coal contributes 15.81%–43.33% of hydrogen, as the coal rank increases, the hydrogen production rate gradually decreases. In the gasification process, the release of hydrogen mainly comes from the water gas shift reaction, the hydrogen output is mainly affected by the quality and carbon content of coal char. With the increase of coal rank, the hydrogen output gradually increases, mainly due to the increasing of coal coke yield and carbon content, The gasification process of coal char contributes 56.67–84.19% of hydrogen, in contrast, coal char gasification provides more hydrogen. The total effective gas output of the three coal chars is 0.53–0.81 m3/kg, the hydrogen output is 0.3–0.43 m3/kg, and the percentage of hydrogen is 53.08–56.60%. This study shows that two-step gasification under the condition of pure oxygen-steam gasification agent is an efficient energy process for hydrogen production from underground coal gasification.  相似文献

The formation of HCN and NH3 during pyrolysis in Ar and gasification in CO2 and steam/Ar was investigated. Vitrinites were separated and purified from different rank coal from lignite to anthracite. Pyrolysis and gasification were carried out in the drop-tube/fixed-bed reactor at temperatures of 600–900°C. Results showed that with increase of reaction temperature the yield of HCN increased significantly during pyrolysis and gasification. Decrease of coal rank also increased the yield of HCN. Vitrinite from lower rank of coal with high volatile content released more HCN. The yield of NH3 was the highest at 800°C during pyrolysis and gasification. And the yield of NH3 from gasification in steam/Ar was far higher than that from gasification in CO2, where the hydrogen radicals play a key role. Nitrogen retained in char was also investigated. The yield of char-N decreased with an increase of pyrolysis temperature. Vitrinite from lower rank coal had lower yield of char-N than that from the high rank coal.  相似文献

Catalytic steam gasification of char derived from low-rank coal possesses substantial potential as a source of hydrogen energy and syngas feedstocks, and its performances are largely associated with the employed catalysts. Therein, ion-exchangeable Na or Ca species are always regarded as excellent in-situ catalysts in low-rank coal. In this paper, gasification of Na-Char, Ca-Char and a Na/Ca-Char mixture with different partial pressures of steam was performed within a temperature range of 700–900 °C using a micro fluidized bed reaction analyzer. The results indicate that Na and Ca species could accelerate the gas release rate during gasification and even significantly increase H2 production, in sharp contrast to non-catalytic gasification. Variations in the product gases during Na-Char and Ca-Char gasification were completely different, which associated with the different deactivation pathways and catalytic reaction mechanisms of Na and Ca catalysts. With an increasing gasification temperature, the decreasing trend of H2 production for Na-Char gasification was mainly due to the loss of Na during gasification. Conversely, the enhancement of Ca activity promoted the H2 production. The H2/CO ratio of Ca-Char gasification at 700 °C approximately ranged from 1.0 to 2.0 as a function of the partial pressure of steam, which suggested catalytic gasification can be suitable for hydrogen-rich production and subsequent synthesis reactions. In addition, gasification of Na/Ca-Char mixture produced a higher hydrogen content in the product gases than that of Na-Char or Ca-Char gasification alone, particularly for the 30%Na/70%Ca-Char mixture. It implies that the high H2 production of 70%Ca30%Na-Char mixture was attributed to the cooperative effects of the Na and Ca species on the catalytic activity. This study provides comprehensive information regarding the effects of ion-exchangeable Na, Ca and a Na/Ca mixture on the hydrogen production and syngas composition during steam gasification, which provides new insight into the utilization of low-rank coal.  相似文献

Hydrogen-rich gas production from catalytic steam gasification of coal was investigated in the presence of iron ore in a vertical fixed bed reactor. The addition of iron ore significantly promoted the H2 yields. The effects of operation parameters (upper zone temperature, lower zone temperature, steam concentration, and iron to coal ratio) on the yield of selected gaseous products (H2 and CO) during catalytic steam gasification, were studied using Taguchi method. The results of signal-to-noise ratio indicated that steam concentration and iron to coal ratio were the most important parameters in determining the yield of H2 and CO, respectively. Semi-quantification X-ray diffraction analysis of iron ores indicated that increase in steam concentration intensified the oxidization of low valence iron compounds to Fe3O4. In addition, formation of Fe3O4 was also favored with increasing reaction temperatures (600 °C–900 °C). However, the formation of Fe3O4 was inhibited at higher reaction temperature (1000 °C) due to the destruction of porous structures of the iron ore.  相似文献

Hydrogen gas production from eucalyptus by catalytic steam gasification was carried out in an atmospheric pressure of two-stage fixed bed. The gasifier was operated with the temperature range of 500–650 °C and steam partial pressure of 16, 30 and 45 kPa; nickel-loaded Thai brown coal char was used as a catalyst. The yields and compositions of the gasification products depend on the operating conditions, especially, the reaction temperature and the steam. The yield of H2 increased at elevated temperatures, from 26.94 to 46.68%, while that of CO dramatically decreased, from 70.21 to 37.71 mol%. The highest H2 yield, 46.68%, was obtained at the final gasifying temperature of 650 °C. Eucalyptus catalytic steam gasification indicated that the maximum H2/CO ratio reached 1.24 at the gasification temperature of 650 °C and the steam partial pressure of 30 kPa. It can be concluded that eucalyptus is appropriate for synthesis gas production from eucalyptus volatiles by catalytic steam gasification while using nickel-loaded brown coal char as a catalyst.  相似文献

The investigation on evolution of coal char structure during pressurized pyrolysis can reveal the combustion reactivity of coal char in thermal utilization at elevated pressure. In this study, Zhundong subbituminous coal was demineralized and a pressurized drop tube reactor (PDTR) was used to prepare coal char under different temperature and pressure conditions. The physicochemical structures of raw and demineralized coal chars were characterized by the application of nitrogen adsorption analyzer, automatic mercury porosimeter, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The change mechanism of char infrared structure with pyrolysis pressure is revealed on the molecular level in this paper. The results show that the N2 adsorption quantity of raw coal char increases with the increase of pyrolysis temperature, while that of demineralized coal char decreases. Because of the difference in molecular volume and steric hindrance between aliphatic and aromatic structure in char, the increasing pressure has less inhibition effect on the escape of the former than the latter. With the increase of pyrolysis pressure, the combustion reactivity of char is related to the infrared structure at 700 and 800 °C while to macropore structure at 900 and 1000 °C.  相似文献

Using Aspen Plus simulations, exergy analyses of hydrogen-rich syngas production via biomass staged-gasification are carried out for three configurations, namely, staged-gasification with pyrolysis gas combustion and char gasification (C-1), staged-gasification with pyrolysis gas reforming and char gasification (C-2), and staged-gasification with pyrolysis gas reforming and char combustion (C-3). The results show that, for the gasification and reforming processes, the exergy loss of pyrolysis gas with tar reforming is less than that of char gasification. As for the system, it is conducive to generating hydrogen by making full use of the hydrogen element (H) in biomass instead of the H in water. The benefits of C-1 are that it removes tar and produces higher yield and concentration of hydrogen. However, C-2 is capable of obtaining higher exergy efficiency and lower exergy loss per mole of H2 production. C-3 theoretically has greater process performances, but it has disadvantages in tar conversion in practical applications. The appropriate gasification temperature (TG) are in the range of 700–750 °C and the appropriate mass ratio of steam to biomass (S/B) are in the range of 0.6–0.8 for C-1 and C-3; the corresponding parameters for C-2 are in the ranges of 650–700 °C and 0.7–0.8, respectively.  相似文献

For oxy-combustion with flue gas recirculation, elevated levels of CO2 and steam affect the heat capacity of the gas, radiant transport, and other gas transport properties. A topic of widespread speculation has concerned the effect of gasification reactions of coal char on the char burning rate. To asses the impact of these reactions on the oxy-fuel combustion of pulverized coal char, we computed the char consumption characteristics for a range of CO2 and H2O reaction rate coefficients for a 100 μm coal char particle reacting in environments of varying O2, H2O, and CO2 concentrations using the kinetics code SKIPPY (Surface Kinetics in Porous Particles). Results indicate that gasification reactions reduce the char particle temperature significantly (because of the reaction endothermicity) and thereby reduce the rate of char oxidation and the radiant emission from burning char particles. However, the overall effect of the combined steam and CO2 gasification reactions is to increase the carbon consumption rate by approximately 10% in typical oxy-fuel combustion environments. The gasification reactions have a greater influence on char combustion in oxygen-enriched environments, due to the higher char combustion temperature under these conditions. In addition, the gasification reactions have increasing influence as the gas temperature increases (for a given O2 concentration) and as the particle size increases. Gasification reactions account for roughly 20% of the carbon consumption in low oxygen conditions, and for about 30% under oxygen-enriched conditions. An increase in the carbon consumption rate and a decrease in particle temperature are also evident under conventional air-blown combustion conditions when the gasification reactions are included in the model.  相似文献

The release mechanism of Ca during coal pyrolysis and char gasification in H2O, CO2 and their mixtures was studied. Sequential chemical extraction was used to determine the modes of occurrence of Ca in coal and char. The released Ca from coal pyrolysis and char gasification were captured and analyzed by activated carbon adsorption and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Model compounds CaS and CaSO4 were adopted to further reveal the released form of Ca under different atmospheres. The results indicate that Ca in coal is mainly released as CaCl2 during the pyrolysis process, and the possible migration mechanism of Ca during pyrolysis was proposed. Ca in coal is mainly released in the form of CaCl2, CaCO3, and CaSO4 during the gasification, and Ca is released as CaCl2 under all conditions. In addition, Ca will be released as CaCO3 under CO2 atmosphere, as CaSO4 under H2O and H2O/CO2 atmospheres at 800 °C and 900 °C, released as CaSO4 under all conditions at 1000 °C. This is closely related to the formation of CaO2 intermediates during the gasification process.  相似文献

To utilize low-rank coal and biomass in a highly efficient and environmental-friendly manner, a co-pyrolysis system coupled with char gasification is investigated. This system has five main units, namely, the drying and mixing, pyrolysis, cooling and separation, combustion, and gasification units, which are simulated by ASPEN plus based on experimental data. Results show that 37% of the pyrolysis char is burned to supply heat for pyrolysis and drying processes based on cascade utilization of heat energy, whereas the rest is sent to a gasifier. The sensitivity analysis is performed to investigate the impacts of steam and O2 injection on gas composition, gasification temperature, carbon conversion efficiency, heating value of gas during gasification, and gas production efficiency. The fractions of H2, CH4, CO, and CO2 demonstrate diverse variation tendencies with an increasing equivalence ratio and steam-to-char (S/C) ratio. However, carbon conversion efficiency reaches its peak of 99.91% when the equivalence ratio is approximately 4 regardless of S/C ratio. An equivalence ratio of 4 and S/C ratio of 0.15 are used as decent examples to calculate the mass balance and to simulate the overall system. Results show that 1000 kg/h coal and 500 kg/h biomass can produce 285.83 m3/h pyrolysis gas and 2580.78 m3/h gasification gas with low heating values of 8.20 and 9.746 MJ/m3, respectively.  相似文献

In this research, canola meal was densified using bio-additives including alkali lignin, glycerol, and l-proline. The fuel pellet's formulation was optimized. The best fuel pellet demonstrated relaxed density and mechanical durability of 1015 kg/m3 and 99.0%, respectively. Synchrotron-based computer tomography technique indicated that lack of water in pellet formulation resulted in a twofold increase in pellet porosity. Thermogravimetric analysis showed that ignition temperature (240 °C) and burn-out temperature (640 °C) for fuel pellet were smaller than those for coal. Impacts of process parameters were evaluated on the quality of the gas product obtained from pellet's steam gasification and hydrothermal gasification. The gasification experiments showed production of untreated syngas with a suitable range of H2/CO molar ratio (1.3–1.6) using steam gasification. Hydro-thermal gasification produced a larger molar ratio of H2/CO (1.8–51.2) for the gas product. Modeling of pellet's steam gasification showed an excellent agreement with experimental results of steam gasification.  相似文献

Supercritical water gasification of coal is a clean and efficient method for coal utilization which can convert coal into H2 and CO2. In order to further reduce costs, a novel two-step cascade utilization method was proposed in this study: conducting traditional pyrolysis first and then gasifying the pyrolysis char in supercritical water. The influences of different pyrolysis operating parameters on gaseous products and char gasification in supercritical water were investigated. Quartz tube reactors were used to ensure the complete collection of gaseous products in pyrolysis process. The experimental results showed that both carbon and hydrogen conversion efficiency increased with temperature, and the increasing trend became not obvious after reaction for 5 min. The thermo-gravimetric curves showed that volatilization removal process was completed at the pyrolysis time of 5 min and higher pyrolysis temperatures were beneficial to the subsequent gasification process. The result also showed that residual weight was 15%–20% of the initial weight. Hydroxyl radicals kept stable during pyrolysis process with the absorption peak intensity increasing first and then decreasing, and mineral substance disintegrated gradually as time increased. As pyrolysis temperature increased, the peak of CC double bonds decreased, turning into stable functional groups and carbonyl group increased. Dispersive pores occurred at the surface of coal as residence time increased with particle size decreasing, specific surface area and reactivity increasing. The results might be used for the design of a cascade utilization system based on coal gasification in supercritical water.  相似文献

Biomass gasification is a prevailing approach for mitigating irreversible fossil fuel depletion. In this study, palm empty fruit bunch (EFB) was steam-gasified in a fixed-bed, batch-fed gasifier, and the effect of four control factors—namely torrefaction temperature for EFB pretreatment, gasification temperature, carrier-gas flow rate, and steam flow rate—on syngas production were investigated. The results showed that steam flow rate is the least influential control factor, with no effect on syngas composition or yield. The gasification temperature of biomass significantly affects the composition of syngas generated during steam gasification, and the H2/CO ratio increases by approximately 50% with an increase in temperature ranging from 680 °C to 780 °C. The higher H2/CO ratio at a lower gasification temperature increased the energy density of the combustible constituents of the syngas by 3.43%.  相似文献

In this work, we study the gasification of pellets produced, after densification, by blending olive mill solid wastes, impregnated or not by olive mill waste water, and pine sawdust under different steam/nitrogen atmospheres. The charcoals necessary for the gasification tests were prepared by pyrolysis using a fixed bed reactor. The gasification technique using steam was chosen in order to produce a hydrogen-enriched syngas. Gasification tests were performed using macro-thermogravimetric equipment. Tests were carried out at different temperatures (750 °C, 800 °C, 820 °C, 850 °C and 900 °C), and at different atmospheres composed by nitrogen and steam at different percentages (10%, 20% and 30%). Results show that the mass variation profiles is similar to the usual lingo-cellulosic gasification process. Moreover, the increase of temperatures or water steam partial pressures affects positively the rate of conversion and the char reactivity by accelerating the gasification process. The increase of the gasification yields demonstrates the promise of using olive mill by-products as alternative biofuels (H2 enriched syngas).  相似文献

A series of wet sludge samples with different moisture contents were pyrolyzed in situ steam in a bench-scale fixed bed reactor in order to examine the influence of moisture and temperature on product distribution and gas composition. The results demonstrated that inherent moisture in wet sludge had a great effect on the product yield. The pyrolysis of wet sludge (43.38% moisture content) at 800 °C exhibited maximum H2 yield (7.76 mol kg?1 dry basis wet sludge) and dry gas yield (0.61 Nm3 kg?1) and H2 content of 42.13 vol%. When the moisture exceeded 43.38%, H2 yield and gas yield both tended to decline. It was also shown that the elevated temperature exhibited a significant influence on gas content increase and tar reduction; at the same time, H2 yield and H2 content were increased from 1.83 mol kg?1 dry basis wet sludge and 16.67 vol% to 9.15 mol kg?1 dry basis wet sludge and 45.67 vol%, respectively, as temperature increased from 600 °C to 850 °C. LHV of fuel gas varies from 15.49 MJ Nm?3 to 11.65 MJ Nm?3 because of decrease in CH4 and C2H4 content as temperature increasing. In conclusion, hydrogen rich gas production by pyrolysis of wet sludge which avoided pre-drying process and utilized in situ steam agent from wet sludge is an economic method.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to enhance the suitability of Lu’an coal for gasification in large entrained-flow gasifiers currently used by the Lu’an Group Mining Company in its 1.8 million ton per annum coal-based oil synthesis demonstration project. The effect of coal blending and flux addition on the ash fusion temperature (AFT) and gasification reactivity was investigated. CaO, Fe2O3, and MgO decreased the AFT of Lu’an coal by 150°C, 73°C, and 68°C, respectively, by a flux addition of up to 7%. Within the range of the experimental investigation, the AFT of Lu’an coal decreased by 3°C for each 1% of Shenmu coal addition. The gradual reduction of mullite and the formation of fayalite and hessonite in blended coal ash decreased the AFT. The addition of a fluxing agent significantly increased the reaction activity of the char, with Fe2O3 exhibiting the largest catalytic effect on char gasification. Blending with Shenmu char significantly increased the gasification reactivity. The random pore model best describes the gasification process of Lu’an char, and a kinetic equation for the process was developed on the basis of this model.  相似文献

Coal pyrolysis and gasification reactions were carried out in a fluidized-bed reactor (0.1 m i.d. by 1.6 m height) over a temperature range from 1023 to 1173 K at atmospheric pressure. The overall gasification kinetics for the steam–char and oxygen–char reactions were determined in a thermobalance reactor. The compositions of the product gases from the coal-gasification reactions are 30–40% H2, 23–28% CO, 27–35% CO2 and 6–9% CH4 with heating values of 2000–3750 kJ m−3. The heating value increases with increasing temperature and steam/coal ratio but decreases with increasing air/coal ratio. Our kinetic data derived from the two-phase theory on coal gasification in a thermobalance reactor and coal pyrolysis in a fluidized bed may be used to predict the product-gas compositions.  相似文献
