A dual-diode millimeter wave harmonic power combiner in which two radial line transformers are used is modelled by a field analysis technique based on Galerkin's method combined with collocation technique. The external circuit impedances looking outside from each of two active devices are computed at both fundamental frequencies and the second harmonic frequencies. Numerical results of the impedances with respect to various structural parameters are presented. Some important characteristics of the harmonic power combiner are revealed. A number of useful conclusions have been deduced for practical design and adjustment. 相似文献

Linear amplification using nonlinear components (LINC) is a method of vector summing two constant amplitude phase-modulated signals to achieve power amplification. The theoretical efficiency of the LINC power amplifier has been reported as 100% since highly efficient nonlinear constant amplitude amplifiers can be used. However, the 100% efficiency performance is only possible at one or two loads along the power output curve. The bulk of the papers regarding LINC has focused on clever implementations of the signal vector decomposition as well as methods to achieve highly linear signal separation. There has been little regard in the literature to the signal combiner implementation necessary to achieve the high power-added efficiency (PAE) of the LINC radio frequency (RF) power amplifier. Efficiency is not an intrinsic property of the combiner implementations, however, the combiner method is the single biggest contributor to efficient performance of a LINC RF power amplifier. This paper develops an analysis method that determines the efficiency of the LINC power amplifier as a function of the amplitude modulation statistics. Five-element spatial power divider/combiners have been realized at 150 GHz. Holography is applied to couple the field pattern of an in-line rectangular horn antenna array to a pseudoplane wave. The hologram is realized as periodic phase grating. The transformation of the pseudoplane wave to a Gaussian beam is performed by phase modulation with a dual-offset reflector on the one hand, and a system of Fresnel lenses on the other hand. Both setups have been extensively examined. The analysis has been enhanced by a vector near-field measurement system. The comparison of the simulated and measured efficiencies, as well as field distributions shows good agreement. 相似文献

A power combiner for three active two-terminal devices located under a common resonant cap is presented. An equivalent circuit with lumped elements describing the coupling between the devices is derived from a numerical finite-element simulation of the resonator. The applied monolithically integrated mounting technique for the active devices minimizes parasitic elements and gains high reproducibility and symmetry. Experimental results with GaAs IMPATT diodes on diamond heatsink of up to 500 mW at 91 GHz with a dc to RF conversion efficiency of 9.0% and excellent combining efficiency demonstrate the capability for power generation in the mm-wave region 相似文献

A simple and novel theoretical analysis for an exponential two-way power combiner/divider is developed. The proposed power combiner/divider's parameters, such as input impedance and reflection and transmission coefficients, are determined. The capacitance effect due to the finite thickness of the coupled-line conductor for both uniform and nonuniform transmission lines is found. GaAs Gunn diodes were fabricated for pulse source application at 8 mm wave band and operated with pulsewidths of 0.05 to 2.0 microseconds and duty cycles of 0.001 to 0.01. Peak pulse output power levels of 0.8–1.2W are achieved and the maximum available power is 1.6W with the highest efficiency of 6.5 percent. This paper describes an algorithm which can determine a neighborhood of the global optimum of an objective function and an estimate of the global optimum.
