Multiplexed holographic structures have been suggested to provide large capacity and parallel access as three-dimensional storage media. One of the most widely used techniques in the literature for analyzing such structures has been the coupled-wave analysis and its variations. Another approach that is becoming increasingly popular because of the ease with which it can be implemented is the beam propagation method (BPM). The BPM is quantitatively compared with the rigorous coupled-wave analysis for the cases of single and multiplexed gratings. Normal and off-normal incidence as well as TE and TM polarizations are considered for single (slanted and unslanted) and multiplexed gratings. It is shown that the BPM, even in its most rudimentary form, is a powerful and accurate calculational method that is especially suited for analyzing the many multiplexed grating diffraction problem.  相似文献

What is believed to be a novel holographic optical encoding scheme has been developed to enhance the performance of laser sensors designed for the measurement of wavelength and angular trajectory. A prototype holographic imaging diffractometer has been created to reconstruct holographic cueing patterns superimposed in the focal plane of wide-angle scene imagery. Based on experimental pattern metric measurements at the focal plane, a theoretical model is used to compute the laser source wavelength and its apparent propagation direction within the sensor's field of view. The benefits of incorporating holographic enhancements within an imager-based sensor architecture are discussed.  相似文献

We present a spatio-temporal operator formalism and beam propagation simulations that describe the broadband efficient adaptive method for a true-time-delay array processing (BEAMTAP) algorithm for an optical beamformer by use of a photorefractive crystal. The optical system consists of a tapped-delay line implemented with an acoustooptic Bragg cell, an accumulating scrolling time-delay detector achieved with a traveling-fringes detector, and a photorefractive crystal to store the adaptive spatio-temporal weights as volume holographic gratings. In this analysis, linear shift-invariant integral operators are used to describe the propagation, interference, grating accumulation, and volume holographic diffraction of the spatio-temporally modulated optical fields in the system to compute the adaptive array processing operation. In addition, it is shown that the random fluctuation in time and phase delays of the optically modulated and transmitted array signals produced by fiber perturbations (temperature fluctuations, vibrations, or bending) are dynamically compensated for through the process of holographic wavefront reconstruction as a byproduct of the adaptive beam-forming and jammer-excision operation. The complexity of the cascaded spatial-temporal integrals describing the holographic formation, and subsequent readout processes, is shown to collapse to a simple imaging condition through standard operator manipulation. We also present spatio-temporal beam propagation simulation results as an illustrative demonstration of our analysis and the operation of a BEAMTAP beamformer.  相似文献

全息术是一种三维成像技术,它已经被应用于多种实际场景。随着计算机科学与技术的迅猛发展,计算全息由于其方便和灵活的特性,已经成为一种广泛应用的全息成像方法。本文回顾了我们近期基于超表面的太赫兹计算全息研究进展。其中,作为全息板的超表面展示出了超越传统光学器件的独特性能。首先,利用超表面实现了对于全息板每个像素的相位振幅同时且独立的调控,进而实现了高质量全息成像。这种新的电磁波操控能力也带来了新的全息成像效果,如利用介质超表面实现了全息像沿传播方向上的连续变化。其次,对超表面在不同偏振态下的响应进行设计,分别实现了线偏振态与频率复用、圆偏振态复用、以及基于表面波的偏振复用超表面全息术。此外,本文提出了依赖于温度变化而主动可控的超表面全息术,为今后计算全息术的设计与实现提供了新的方案,也推动了超表面在实际应用方面的发展。  相似文献

Digital holography enables a multifocus quantitative phase microscopy for the investigation of reflective surfaces and for marker-free live cell imaging. For digital holographic long-term investigations of living cells an automated (subsequent) robust and reliable numerical focus adjustment is of particular importance. Four numerical methods for the determination of the optimal focus position in the numerical reconstruction and propagation of the complex object waves of pure phase objects are characterized, compared, and adapted to the requirements of digital holographic microscopy. Results from investigations of an engineered surface and human pancreas tumor cells demonstrate the applicability of Fourier-weighting- and gradient-operator-based methods for robust and reliable automated subsequent numerical digital holographic focusing.  相似文献

We report on a fast and experimentally easy technique for measuring the beam propagation ratio M(2) of light guided by optical fibers. A holographic filter enables us to determine amplitudes and phases of the excited fiber eigenmodes. The coherent superposition of modes allows the reconstruction of the optical field. With this information at hand, we are able to simulate the free-space propagation of the beam and to perform a virtual caustic measurement. Associated beam propagation ratios M(2) accurately agree with ISO-standard measurements.  相似文献

We have used a computer-generated holographic optical element (HOE) with electronic speckle pattern interferometry to calculate the interference phase corresponding to the deformation of a test object from a single TV frame. The HOE is a modified crossed phase grating that introduces a known phase change between the +/-1 diffracted orders, without being translated. The progressive propagation of transient mechanical waves was measured with an rms precision of 2pi/30.  相似文献

The diffraction effects induced by a thick holographic grating on the propagation of a finite Gaussian beam are theoretically analyzed by means of the coupled-wave theory and the beam propagation method. Distortion of the transmitted and diffracted beams is simulated as a function of the grating parameters. Theoretical results are verified by experimentation realized by use of LiNbO3 volume gratings read out by a 1550-nm Gaussian beam, typical of optical fiber communications. This analysis can be implemented as a useful tool to aid with the design of volume grating-based devices employed in optical communications.  相似文献

We demonstrate the experimental generation of a fractional Bessel beam by holographic means. Such fractional modes of Bessel beams possess an intrinsic opening gap across concentric intensity rings on propagation. We also show that the opening gaps within the fractional modes are diffraction free for a working distance while a fractional helical wave front is maintained.  相似文献

We describe the implementation of the automatic spatial-frequency-selection filter for recognition of patterns obtained with a digital holographic microscope working with a partially coherent source. The microscope provides the complex-optical-amplitude field that allows a refocusing plane-by-plane of the sample under investigation by numerical computation of the optical propagation. By inserting a correlation filter in the propagation equation, the correlation between the filter and the propagated optical field is obtained. In this way, the pattern is located in the direction of the optical axis. Owing to the very weak noise level generated by the partially coherent source, the correlation process is shift invariant. Therefore the samples can be located in the three dimensions. To have a robust recognition process, a generalized version of the automatic spatial-frequency-selection filters has been implemented. The method is experimentally demonstrated in a two-class problem for the recognition of protein crystals.  相似文献

Abstract

The optical properties of holographic display screen enhancement films are investigated. Experimental data show that the on-axis scattering from such films is significantly stronger than the off-axis scattering. The results are modelled using the beam propagation method in two dimensions. Good qualitative comparisons between experimental and theoretical results are obtained.  相似文献

The optical properties and solubility of spin-coated As2S3 films significantly change after silver is introduced by photodiffusion. The different types of holographic grating that can be fabricated in spin-coated Ag/As2S3 double film structures by photodiffusion and subsequent selective etching are described in this paper. The silver diffusion occurs under the influence of visible monochromatic light and the grating pattern is produced by a holographic arrangement.  相似文献

A holographic technique to determine empirically group velocities of transient anti-symmetric Lamb waves using only spatial features of the propagating waveform has been shown to be in good agreement with predicted results from the elastic theory dispersion relationships for thin plates. The holographic technique uses only spatial features of the propagating waveforms for determination of group velocity, i.e., no absolute amplitude information is necessary. The technique has been applied successfully to materials of different elastic properties and thickness, using the same measurement criterion for each sample. The spatial mapping of transient Lamb waves in plates using full field holographic techniques promises to be both an excellent tool in the characterization of engineering materials, and a means of interrogating composite structures for sub-surface defects, delaminations, and gross anisotropy.  相似文献

Abstract

Permanent 3D microstructures are created within a gel using holographic optical tweezers. The micron-sized particles are arranged in a precise geometry within an appropriate liquid, and become fixed in position upon polymerisation of the surrounding media. The flexibility of the holographic approach enables any structural arrangement to be produced, dependent upon application. We demonstrate the technique by creating structures within a biocompatible host, enabling future applications in biotechnology.  相似文献

Wave propagation equations in the stationary-phase approximation have been used to identify the theoretical bounds of a miniature holographic Fourier-transform spectrometer (HFTS). It is demonstrated that the HFTS throughput can be larger than for a scanning Fourier-transform spectrometer. Given room- or a higher-temperature constraint, a small HFTS has the potential to outperform a small multichannel dispersive spectrograph with the same resolving power because of the size dependence of the signal-to-noise ratio. These predictions are used to analyze the performance of a miniature HFTS made from simple optical components covering a broad spectral range from the UV to the near IR. The importance of specific primary aberrations in limiting the HFTS performance has been both identified and verified.  相似文献

When developing a compact holographic storage system it is beneficial to use a reflection-type arrangement, where the entire optical system is on the same side of the storage material. For reflection type holographic discs, it is important to use half-cone-shaped spherical reference beams to avoid the ghost images caused by phase conjugate readout. The goal of this paper is to look for appropriate engineering tools to model diffraction efficiency of finite volume holograms created by half-cone-shaped reference beams. Two numerical methods – volume integral and beam propagation – were applied to calculate the shift selectivity curves. Simulation results show significant discrepancies between the shift selectivity curves corresponding to the approximated analytical equation and the numerically calculated shift selectivity curves; there are no Bragg zeros and there are no selective and nonselective directions. Beside the shift selectivity curves, track, focus, tilt and wavelength tolerance values are shown for finite volume holograms.  相似文献
