Mechatronic design aims to integrate the models developed during the mechatronic design process, in order to be able to optimize the overall mechatronic system performance. A lot of work has been done in the last few years by researchers and software developers to achieve this objective. However, the level of integration does not yet meet the purposes of mechatronic system designers, particularly when dealing with modeling changes. Therefore, new methodologies are required to manage the multi-view complexity of mechatronic design. In this paper, we propose a multi-agent methodology for the multi-abstraction modeling issue of mechatronic systems. The major contribution deals with proposing a new method for the decomposition of the multi-level design into agents linked with relationships. Each agent is representing an abstraction level and both agent and relationships are managed with rules. By considering an application to a piezoelectric energy harvesting system, we show how we associate agents, rules and inter-level relationships to multi-abstraction modeling. We also show how modeling errors are identified using this approach.  相似文献

Hierarchical modeling helps to describe product models and data from different viewpoints that, representing the different disciplines involved in the design process of mechatronic systems. This paper gives an overview of hierarchical modeling techniques. This includes the investigation of systems, which requires handling different issues that address very specific views of the system (system aspects) and come from various disciplines. Also the model granularity which describes the extent to which an object or model is broken down into smaller elements it an important aspect. The different phases of the product life cycle require models with different objectives and levels of detail. Some models are needed mainly in specific phases of the product life cycle, which are discussed in detail in the paper. Especially in the conceptual design phase some design-characteristic aspects such as hierarchy of parameters, modularity of the design should be analyzed, because in this phase the largest part of the later resulting product costs is predetermined or even fixed. As a consequence, the scope for design is limited to merely small changes in the subsequent design phases. Therefore the interaction between the design phases and the related models plays an important role the development process of mechatronic systems.  相似文献

The design of very small databases for smart cards and for portable embedded systems is deeply constrained by the peculiar features of the physical medium. Privacy concerns are relevant due to the fact that personal information may be stored on the card (e.g. medical records). We propose a joint approach to the logical and physical database design phases supporting the required security levels, on the basis that all information is stored on the Flash-EEPROM storage medium, managed as a file system by the smart card operating system.  相似文献

Complex technical systems, such as mechatronic systems, can exploit networking as well as the computational power available today to achieve an automatic improvement of the technical system performance at run-time through self-optimization. To realize this vision, appropriate means for the design of such self-optimizing mechatronic systems are required. Well-established techniques and tools for the modeling of cognitive behavior, reflective behavior, and control behavior exist. However, to really enable self-optimization and its full potential, these different aspects have to be safely integrated in a manner that remains comprehensible to the designer. In this article, we present how this required integration has been realized at the semantic level by extending the unified modeling language (UML), and at the tool level by integrating the CAE tool CAMeL and the CASE tool Fujaba real-time tool suite. The presented Mechatronic UML approach supports the design of verifiable, complex, reconfigurable mechatronic systems using the multi-agent system metaphor. This work was developed in the course of the Special Research Initiative 614—self-optimizing concepts and structures in mechanical engineering—University of Paderborn, and was published on its behalf and funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft. Today, markets increasingly require more customized products, with shorter life cycles. In response, manufacturing systems have evolved from mass production techniques, through flexible automation and mass customization, to produce at mass production costs. Manufacturing facilities must incorporate more flexibility and intelligence, evolving toward reconfigurable manufacturing systems (RMS). RMS are amid to posses such flexibility and responsiveness and said to be the next generation of world class systems. RMS are designed for rapid change in structure and for a quickly adjustable production capacity. This paper proposes a new methodology (high level process) of framework using flexible and reconfigurable manufacturing systems principles for automotive framing systems as well as to provide a guideline to support the structure of different stages of the design methodology. The proposed methodology is presented through a case study using data based on actual production systems of three different styles; (process and design data) which supports the hypothesis of the research.  相似文献

According to the principles of concurrent engineering and integrated design, engineers intend to develop a mechatronic system with a high level integration (functional and physical integrations) based on a well-organised design method. As a result, two main categories of issues have been pointed out: the process-based problems and the design data-related problems. Several approaches to overcome these issues have been put forward. To solve process-based problems, a dynamic perspective is generally used to present how collaboration can be improved during the mechatronic design. For design data-related problems, solutions generally come from product models and how to structure and store the data thanks to the functionality of data and documents management of Product Lifecycle Management systems. To be able to assess design methods and product models, some criteria are proposed in the paper and used to evaluate their added value on integrated design of mechatronic system. After this assessment, main outcomes which focus on the combination of design method and product model for improving the design of mechatronic system are finally discussed.  相似文献

A methodology and associated notation for designing compiler front ends, and in particular the interface between the parser and the semantic routines, is described. The methodology leads to a clean, easy to understand, documentable design. The notation is similar to an attribute grammar, but its purpose is to document the first pass of a specific compiler, rather than to describe the semantics of a language. It is designed to be accessible to non-specialists, easy to learn, and natural. It can be used with or without software support. The notation was used during the development of a large compiler, and to assist in the transfer of the compiler to the group that will maintain it. Experience with the notation indicates that it meets its goals.  相似文献

Mechatronics is the integration of mechanism, electronics and computer control to produce a functional system. The design process involves application of many engineering areas and various approaches are possible. Computer programs are available in different engineering areas. Engineers define systems and inputs, and user-friendly programs establish mathematical models, solve them and give simulation outputs. In this study, SolidWorks is used for solid modeling and assembly, CosmosMotion is used for rigid body dynamics, CosmosWorks is used for finite element vibration and strength analyses, and Adlink module is used for actuator control. The integration of the design process is achieved with a main program developed in Visual Basic, which uses the application programming interface (API) capabilities. The procedure is applied to a hexapod robot. The robot has been produced to develop and test the procedure. CosmosMotion results are verified by the analytical results obtained from the dynamic equations of the hexapod. Besides known kinematic workspace definition of robots, kinetic and rigidity workspace concepts are introduced. Mechatronic systems can be designed and evaluated easily and effectively by using the design process developed in this work.  相似文献

Parametric reconfiguration plays a key role in non-iterative concurrent design of mechatronic systems. This is because it allows the designer to select, among different competitive solutions, the most suitable without sacrificing sub-optimal characteristics. This paper presents a method based on an evolutionary algorithm to improve the parametric reconfiguration feature in the optimal design of a continuously variable transmission and a five-bar parallel robot. The approach considers a solution-diversity mechanism coupled with a memory of those sub-optimal solutions found during the process. Furthermore, a constraint-handling mechanism is added to bias the search to the feasible region of the search space. Differential Evolution is utilized as the search algorithm. The results obtained in a set of five experiments performed per each mechatronic system show the effectiveness of the proposed approach.  相似文献

Multiprocessor SoCs are increasingly important for multimedia systems. This article presents a methodology for the architectural design of multimedia multiprocessor SoCs and illustrates its advantages using a generic implementation of a real-time gesture recognition application. The proposed methodology covers all the important architectural aspects from processor allocation to memory and network design. We demonstrate our methodology with our design of an experimental SoC for real-time video analysis.  相似文献

In recent years, the “power of the crowd” has been repeatedly demonstrated and various Internet platforms have been used to support applications of collaborative intelligence in tasks ranging from open innovation to image analysis. However, crowdsourcing applications in the fields of design research and creative innovation have been much slower to emerge. So, although there have been reports of systems and researchers using Internet crowdsourcing to carry out generative design, there are still many gaps in knowledge about the capability and limitations of the technology. Indeed the process models developed to support traditional commercial design (e.g. Pugh’s Total Design, Agile, Double-Diamond etc.) have yet to be established for Crowdsourced Design (cDesign). As a contribution to the development of such a general model this paper proposes a cDesign framework to support the creation of crowdsourced design activities. Within the cDesign framework the effective evaluation of design quality is identified as a key component that not only enables the leveraging of a large, virtual workforce’s creative activities but is also fundamental to almost all iterative optimisation processes. This paper reports an experimental investigation into two different Crowdsourced design evaluation approaches; free evaluation and ‘Crowdsourced Design Evaluation Criteria’ (cDEC). The results are benchmarked against a ‘manual’ evaluation carried out by a panel of experienced designers. The results suggest that the cDEC approach produces design rankings that correlate strongly with the judgements of an “expert panel”. The paper concludes that cDEC assessment methodology demonstrates how Crowdsourcing can be effectively used to evaluate, as well as generate, new design solutions.  相似文献

Many Decision Support Systems (DSS) support the decision making process through the use of mathematical models and data. DSS design involves modeling data as well as mathematical relationships in a domain. The process of model formulation and subsequent integration of model with data in a DSS is a complex and ill-structured process. This paper proposes a methodology based on Structured Modeling (SM), originally introduced by Geoffrion together with the modeling language SML, to model and design the DSS. The methodology includes rigorous and step by step procedures to design and integrate data and modelbases. The main contribution of our approach lies in the integration of research in database design, and mathematical model formulation within the structured modeling framework. The resultant procedures can be easily automated and taught to students in DSS courses. The motivation for our research stemmed from our constant frustrations in teaching DSS courses over the last five years. In the last two years, when we used our methodology, the performance of the students improved significantly. The average score in the DSS project went up to 85 from 60. Our positive experience in using our methodology in classes over the past two years suggests that the methodology imposes structure into the analysis of decision problems, and as a result students produce better DSS designs for classroom cases.  相似文献

This study employs a design science perspective to propose a methodology for open strategic planning (OSP). Habermas’ discourse theory and Bryson’s strategy change cycle are used as informing kernel theories. A methodology is proposed to satisfy the requirements retrieved from the kernel theories. The proposed methodology contains modules for a planning system and a planning process. Design principles are explained through a blueprint of the system and process. The proposed methodology is applied and evaluated in two cases. Contributions to the literature involve extending the literature on OSP to an applicable methodology with guidelines on how to implement open strategy.  相似文献

Resource manager objects are the operating system entities that manage computer system resources. In this paper we extend Hoare's and Brinch Hansen's monitor concept, and introduce a resource monitor language construct that represents a resource manager object. Resource monitors provide requesting processes with implicit synchronization, and do not require separate processes to perform the resource access operations. The resource monitor construct is compared to current language constructs used to structure operating system software. For this purpose we use an evaluation methodology that combines software complexity measurements with program performance measurements. The evaluation itself is carried out in a Concurrent Pascal-like programming environment. The current language constructs have a software complexity that is larger by 37 to 219 per cent over the resource monitor's complexity. The run-time synchronization overhead of programs that use current language constructs is 1.43 to 2.75 times higher than the overhead of programs that use a resource monitor.  相似文献

This paper investigates the issue of evolutionary design of controllers for hybrid mechatronic systems. Finite State Automaton (FSA) is selected as the representation for a discrete controller due to its interpretability, fast execution speed and natural extension to a statechart, which is very popular in industrial applications. A case study of a two-tank system is used to demonstrate that the proposed evolutionary approach can lead to a successful design of an FSA controller for the hybrid mechatronic system, represented by a hybrid bond graph. Generalisation of the evolved FSA controller to unknown control targets is also tested. Further, a comparison with another type of controller, a lookahead controller, is conducted, with advantages and disadvantages of each discussed. The comparison sheds light on which type of controller representation is a better choice to use in various stages of the evolutionary design of controllers for hybrid mechatronic systems. Finally, some important future research directions are pointed out, leading to the major work of the succeeding part of the research.  相似文献

This paper presents a summary of research into the development and implementation of a domain-independent, computer-based model for the conceptual design of complex mechanical systems [1]. The creation of such a design model includes the integration of four major concepts: (1) the use of a graphical display for visualizing the conceptual design attributes: (2) the proper representation of the complex data and diverse knowledge reguired to design the system; (3) the integration of quality design methods into the conceptual design: (4) the modeling of the conceptual design process as a mapping between functions and forms. Using the design of an automobile as a case study, a design environment was created which consisted of a distributed problem-solving paradigm and a parametric graphical display. The requirements of the design problem with respect to data representation and design processing were evaluated and a process model was specified. The resulting vehicle design system consists of a tight integration between a blackboard system and a parametric design system. The completed system allows a designer to view graphical representations of the candidate conceptual designs that the blackhoard system generates.  相似文献

This paper proposes a design methodology for very small databases for the purpose of being hosted by portable devices. Three main differences w.r.t. the traditional design methodologies are introduced: first, the main mobility issues are considered along with data distribution; second, context awareness is included in the data design issues to allow full exploitation of context-sensitive application functionalities; and third, the peculiarities of the storage device  (ss) are taken into account by introducing a logistic phase after the usual conceptual and logical phases. The three aspects together determine the VSDB ambient which is the set of personal and environmental characteristics determining the portion of data that must be stored on the portable device. This paper details the design methodology in its conceptual, logical and logistic phases.  相似文献

One of the important themes that emerged from the CAL’07 conference was the failure of technology to bring about the expected disruptive effect to learning and teaching. We identify one of the causes as an inherent weakness in prevalent development methodologies. While the problem of designing technology for learning is irreducibly multi-dimensional, design processes often lack true interdisciplinarity. To address this problem we present IDR, a participatory methodology for interdisciplinary techno-pedagogical design, drawing on the design patterns tradition [Alexander, C., Silverstein, M., & Ishikawa, S. (1977). A pattern language: Towns, buildings, construction (Center for environmental structure series). New York, NY: Oxford University Press] and the design research paradigm [DiSessa, A. A., & Cobb, P. (2004) Ontological innovation and the role of theory in design experiments. Journal of the Learning Sciences, 13(1), 77–103]. We discuss the iterative development and use of our methodology by a pan-European project team of educational researchers, software developers and teachers. We reflect on our experiences of the participatory nature of pattern design and discuss how, as a distributed team, we developed a set of over 120 design patterns, created using our freely available open source web toolkit. Furthermore, we detail how our methodology is applicable to the wider community through a workshop model, which has been run and iteratively refined at five major international conferences, involving over 200 participants.  相似文献

This paper presents a framework to integrate requirements management and design knowledge reuse. The research approach begins with a literature review in design reuse and requirements management to identify appropriate methods within each domain. A framework is proposed based on the identified requirements. The framework is then demonstrated using a case study example: vacuum pump design. Requirements are presented as a component of the integrated design knowledge framework. The proposed framework enables the application of requirements management as a dynamic process, including capture, analysis and recording of requirements. It takes account of the evolving requirements and the dynamic nature of the interaction between requirements and product structure through the various stages of product development.  相似文献
