In order to account for wide variation in the relationship between leader–member exchange and employees' affective organizational commitment, we propose a concept termed supervisor's organizational embodiment (SOE), which involves the extent to which employees identify their supervisor with the organization. With samples of 251 social service employees in the United States (Study 1) and 346 employees in multiple Portuguese organizations (Study 2), we found that as SOE increased, the association between leader–member exchange and affective organizational commitment became greater. This interaction carried through to in-role and extra-role performance. With regard to antecedents, we found in Study 1 that supervisor's self-reported identification with the organization increased supervisor's expression of positive statements about the organization, which in turn increased subordinates' SOE. Researchers have been giving increased attention to the role larger organizational variables play in safety and accidents. Although generally neglected by this research, the nature of the exchange relationships between individuals, leaders. and the organization appears to have safety-related implications. The present research linked leader-member exchange (LMX) and perceived organizational support (POS) to safety communication, safety commitment, and accidents. Data were collected from 49 supervisor–group-leader dyads in a manufacturing facility. The results indicated that POS was significantly related to safety communication and that LMX was significantly related to safety communication, safety commitment, and accidents. Support was also found for a structural model linking POS and LMX to safety communication, safety commitment, and accidents. The cultural diversity of Western society has created an increasingly complex psychoanalytic intersubjective field. Cultural, class, racial, and familial dimensions of experience can never be separated in the psyche of the patient or analyst or in the analytic relationship. But the melding of these influences results in particular meanings for each patient, analyst, and analytic couple, and may be crucial to address for authentic connection and change to occur. A clinical case is presented in which uniquely melded cultural, class, and psychological meanings became enacted between patient and analyst, stimulating unexpected feelings in both, which enabled the emergence of a bridge across an apparent gulf of “otherness.” (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2011 APA, all rights reserved)  相似文献

The leader–member exchange (LMX) literature has established that leaders differentiate among their followers. Yet little is known about the effects of LMX differentiation (within-group variation in LMX quality). In this study, we contend that the effects of LMX differentiation on the employee outcomes of work attitudes, coworker relations, and employee withdrawal behaviors will be contingent upon the level of procedural and distributive justice climate. Data from 276 employees working in 25 stores of a retail chain in Turkey supported our hypotheses such that LMX differentiation was related to more negative work attitudes and coworker relations, and higher levels of withdrawal behaviors only when justice climate was low. To test the roles of La3+ on yield and quality of wheat for different end uses, experiments were conducted using split-plot design for different La3+ treatments as main plot and different gluten types of wheat as subplot, by foliar spraying La3+ at jointing stage and filling stage. The results showed that spraying 0.5–1.5 mmol/L La3+ increased the yield and 1000-kernel weight of wheat of different gluten types. The protein content of strong-gluten wheat Wanmai 33 increased after spraying 0.5–1.5 mmol/L La3+, which made it achieve the good quality standard of strong-gluten wheat, whereas its LOX and PPO activity reduced, the carotenoid content increased. These La3+ treatments prolonged the storage period of grain, improved flour nutritional value and the food processing quality. Spraying 0.5–1.5 mmol/L La3+ also increased flour peak viscosity of medium-gluten wheat Yangmai 158, as improving its starch properties. Spraying La3+ significantly decreased flour water absorption rate of weak gluten type variety Wanmai 48 to meet the weak-gluten flour standard. The total pentosan content reduced at 1–1.5 mmol/L La3+, which would be good for making biscuit. Results suggested that spraying appropriate concentration of La3+ increased wheat yield and benefited wheat quality for different end uses.  相似文献

Bio-hydrometallurgical applications have been receiving more attention globally for processing of several metal bearing wastes. Developments in bioleaching enable this technique to be utilized as an alternative process for extraction of metals (ex-copper, gold, etc.) from complex ores or even concentrates, consequently solving several environmental issues. Organic and inorganic reagents or additives used during the process have been seen to affect the leaching efficiency of microbes for metal dissolution. The present review discusses the influence of certain organic–inorganic reagents and other materials or additives on the growth, oxidation activity, and bioleaching efficiency of acidophiles on metal dissolution.  相似文献

Prospective, longitudinal data from a community sample of 451 families were used to assess the unique contribution of paternal depressive symptoms to adolescent functioning. Results indicated that paternal depressive symptoms were significantly related to subsequent depressive symptoms in adolescent offspring; this association remained significant after controlling for previous adolescent depressive symptoms, maternal depressive symptoms, gender, and family demographic variables. Adolescent gender and perception of father–adolescent relationship closeness moderated this association such that paternal depressive symptoms were positively associated with adolescent depressive symptoms for girls whose relations with fathers lacked closeness. These findings add to a growing literature on the interpersonal mechanisms through which depression runs in families, highlighting the need for future investigation of paternal mental health, adolescent gender, and intrafamily relationship quality in relation to adolescent development. Although it is an explicitly dyadic approach to leadership, some leader–member exchange (LMX) research has been characterized by relatively low levels of agreement between leader and member judgments of the relationship. Using a combination of meta-analytic methods and primary data collection, the authors sought to explore several theoretically and methodologically meaningful factors that might account for lower levels of agreement. On the basis of data from 64 independent samples (N = 10,884 dyads), the authors found that overall agreement was moderate in nature (ρ = .37). In addition, they found that longer relationship tenure, affectively oriented relationship dimensions, and ad hoc sampling techniques showed the highest levels of agreement. Empirical results from 98 matched dyads revealed that the extent of LMX agreement increases as the length of relationship tenure and intensity of dyadic interaction increases. We examined a longstanding assumption in vocational psychology that people–things and data–ideas are bipolar dimensions. Two minimal criteria for bipolarity were proposed and examined across 3 studies: (a) The correlation between opposite interest types should be negative; (b) after correcting for systematic responding, the correlation should be greater than ?.40. In Study 1, a meta-analysis using 26 interest inventories with a sample size of 1,008,253 participants showed that meta-analytic correlations between opposite RIASEC (realistic, investigative, artistic, social, enterprising, conventional) types ranged from ?.03 to .18 (corrected meta-analytic correlations ranged from ?.23 to ?.06). In Study 2, structural equation models (SEMs) were fit to the Interest Finder (IF; Wall, Wise, & Baker, 1996) and the Interest Profiler (IP; Rounds, Smith, Hubert, Lewis, & Rivkin, 1999) with sample sizes of 13,939 and 1,061, respectively. The correlations of opposite RIASEC types were positive, ranging from .17 to .53. No corrected correlation met the criterion of ?.40 except for investigative–enterprising (r = ?.67). Nevertheless, a direct estimate of the correlation between data–ideas end poles using targeted factor rotation did not reveal bipolarity. Furthermore, bipolar SEMs fit substantially worse than a multiple-factor representation of vocational interests. In Study 3, a two-way clustering solution on IF and IP respondents and items revealed a substantial number of individuals with interests in both people and things. We discuss key theoretical, methodological, and practical implications such as the structure of vocational interests, interpretation and scoring of interest measures for career counseling, and expert RIASEC ratings of occupations. A. Koriat's (1997) cue-utilization framework provided a significant advance in understanding how people make judgments of learning (JOLs). A major distinction is made between intrinsic and extrinsic cues. JOLs are predicted to be sensitive to intrinsic cues (e.g., item relatedness) and less sensitive to extrinsic cues (e.g., serial position) because JOLs are comparative across items in a list. The authors evaluated predictions by having people make JOLs after studying either related (poker flush) or unrelated (dog-spoon) items. Although some outcomes confirmed these predictions, others could not be readily explained by the framework. Namely, relatedness influenced JOLs even when manipulated between participants, primacy effects were evident on JOLs, and the order in which blocks of items were presented (either all related items first or all unrelated items first) influenced JOLs. I. D. Yalom's (1995) hypothesis that group climate mediates the relationship between leadership and outcome was tested. Group leaders (N?=?43) recorded intentions, and adolescent group members (N?=?233) rated climate after 8 semistructured group sessions. Members also rated satisfaction at termination. Leader intentions comprised 4 dimensions: therapeutic work, safe environment, interpersonal, and group structure. Changing group climates did mediate between these intentions and member outcome. Therapeutic work was negatively related and safe environment was positively related to an increasingly active and engaged climate, which was related to treatment benefit. Group structure and possibly interpersonal intentions were related to a climate decreasing in conflict and distance, which was related to a positive leader relationship. The effects of RE were studied by TEM, SEM, ICP and thermal simulation methods in vanadium microalloyed steel. The content.of RE in the solid solution can reach the order of 10^-5 --10^-4 in steel. The solid solution of RE was found to reduce the stability of precipitated V (C, N ), impede the precipitation of V (C, N ) in austenite, and accelerate and refine the precipitation of V (C, N) in ferrite. The combined effect of RE and V is to delay the dynamic recrystaUization, refine the grains and second phase particles, and to promote the precipitation of V (C, N) obviously. Thus the microalloying with RE and V leads to raising the strength and toughness of steel.  相似文献

Titanium having high demand in aircraft industries because of its mechanical properties like high strength to weight ratio, high temperature performance and it’s resistant to corrosion. Therefore, Titanium and its alloys are used in airplane and engine applications. One of the major usages of alloy in the aircraft industries are Titanium alloy. By using Powder Metallurgy, the powder materials are compacted and sintered in the furnace to achieve high densities for the further process of the samples. In this paper reviews the various research investigations of Titanium and its alloy (Ti–% Al–% V–% X alloy), to optimize the microstructure and mechanical properties by various sintering methods like Conventional, Spark plasma and Microwave sintering techniques. In this study, the electroless Ni–Sn–P coatings with different amounts of Sn were deposited on copper substrates to study the properties of the as-plated and heat treated coatings, especially corrosion behavior in 10 wt% sulfuric acid. Surface composition, surface morphology, and a cross-section of the coatings were studied by Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) and field emission electron microscope (FESEM) respectively. Structure and corrosion behavior of coatings were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and electrochemical tests. Results showed that increasing in Sn content and changes in Ni and P content of the coatings led to the uniform and compact surface and changes within the structure of the coating. The coating with higher Sn content had the best corrosion behavior. Post heat treatment of nanocrystalline Ni–Sn–P coating resulted in better corrosion behavior, and the optimum heat treatment temperature was 350 °C.  相似文献

A qualitative and quantitative review of the relationship between job satisfaction and job performance is provided. The qualitative review is organized around 7 models that characterize past research on the relationship between job satisfaction and job performance. Although some models have received more support than have others, research has not provided conclusive confirmation or discontinuation of any model, partly because of a lack of assimilation and integration in the literature. Research devoted to testing these models waned following 2 meta-analyses of the job satisfaction–job performance relationship. Because of limitations in these prior analyses and the misinterpretation of their findings, a new meta-analysis was conducted on 312 samples with a combined N of 54,417. The mean true correlation between overall job satisfaction and job performance was estimated to be .30. In light of these results and the qualitative review, an agenda for future research on the satisfaction–performance relationship is provided. Low-thermal-expansion alloys play a crucial role in high-precision instruments and devices. Simultaneously improving mechanical performance and keeping or even decreasing low thermal expansion behavior are urgently required for their industrial application. Herein, a new attempt to treat Fe–36Ni Invar alloy by adding trace magnesium (Mg) in a concentration ranging from 0 wt% to 0.0030 wt% (similarly hereinafter) is conducted. The introduction of Mg results in grain refinement and an increase in the volume fraction of the annealing twins. Compared with the Mg-free sample, the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) of 0.0030% Mg alloy is significantly decreased by more than 20%, which is mainly related to lattice distortion and matrix purification. The yield strength of 0.0030% Mg alloy improves by 10% with respect to Mg-free alloy, because of grain boundary strengthening and solid-solution strengthening. The study may lay the basis for a better understanding of the application of Mg in low-thermal-expansion alloys.  相似文献
