A major issue in any multidiscipline collaborative project is how to best share and simultaneously exploit different types of expertise, without duplicating efforts or inadvertently causing conflicts or loss of efficiency through misunderstanding of individual or shared goals. Moderators are knowledge based systems designed to support collaborative teams by raising awareness of potential problems or conflicts. However, the functioning of a Moderator is limited by the knowledge it has about the team members. Knowledge acquisition, learning and updating of knowledge are the major challenges for a Moderator's implementation. To address these challenges a Knowledge discOvery And daTa minINg inteGrated (KOATING) framework is presented for Moderators to enable them to continuously learn from the operational databases of the company and semi-automatically update their knowledge about team members. This enables the reuse of discovered knowledge from operational databases within collaborative projects. The integration of knowledge discovery in database (KDD) techniques into the existing Knowledge Acquisition Module of a moderator enables hidden data dependencies and relationships to be utilised to facilitate the moderation process. The architecture for the Universal Knowledge Moderator (UKM) shows how Moderators can be extended to incorporate a learning element which enables them to provide better support for virtual enterprises. Unified Modelling Language diagrams were used to specify the ways to design and develop the proposed system. The functioning of a UKM is presented using an illustrative example. 相似文献

The paper presents the rationale and principles of a unified language devoted to the area of Enterprise Modelling. The language, named UEML, for Unified Enterprise Modelling Language, is not intended to replace existing languages but is intended to provide a uniform interface to enterprise modelling tools and a neutral format for exchange of enterprise models. It therefore builds on previous languages and provides constructs to cover function/process, information, resource and organization/decision aspects of business entities. Enterprise Integration Engineering (EIE) has emerged as an engineering discipline to re-structure the enterprise entities as integrated business processes that integrate human and technological resources to facilitate the knowledge sharing for better decision making. EIE is a complex task that requires applying different tools concerning strategic planning, performance management, modelling, simulation and business process management in order to properly engineer the enterprise entities. The present paper presents an EIE toolbox that aims to support enterprises in their decision making process and to provide different assisting tools to be applied on the components of the EIE Reference Framework proposed. Finally, a set of case studies are presented in order to demonstrate the utility of the EIE Reference Framework and its toolbox for strategic planning and enterprise decision making. 相似文献

Communicating with personnel is difficult if the concept in hand is complex, hard to perceive, has characteristics that are fuzzy in nature and that need a long-term perspective to show the results of them as a real benefit and advantage. Knowledge creation and learning concepts both belong to these kinds of management objects. Both have characteristics that are difficult to manage and lead, and that are difficult to articulate in detail to the organisation. Knowledge creation has long been one of the key concepts in modern management science and research. Learning, however, has not achieved that high a status. Many contemporary scientists like to bring in new constructs to better understand the mechanisms behind knowledge creation and learning; however, measuring these kinds of abstract concepts needs support from theory as well as methodology, so that communication to personnel can be objective and, from a management point view, effective. In this research, we have used Internet-based computer applications to measure current knowledge creation and learning levels, and to gain insight into how members of organisations are willing to show their proactive vision, as well as priorities in knowledge creation and learning concepts, inside their organisation. Practical asymmetries can be shown with test subjects, which are important to understand from a leadership and management point of view. Product innovation is regarded as a primary means for enterprises to maintain their competitive advantage. Knowledge transfer is a major way that enterprises access knowledge from the external environment for new product innovation. Knowledge transfer may face the risk of infringement of the intellectual property rights of other enterprises and the termination of licensing agreements by the knowledge source. Enterprises must develop independent innovation knowledge at the same time they profit from knowledge transfers. Therefore, new product development by an enterprise usually consists of three types of new knowledge: big data knowledge transferred from big data knowledge providers, private knowledge transferred from other enterprises, and new knowledge developed independently by an enterprise in the big data environment. To find what the influences of different types of knowledge are on new product development (NPD) performance, a model is presented that maximizes the expected NPD performance. The results show that the greater the weight of independent innovation knowledge, the greater the performance of NPD. Enterprises tend to transfer knowledge from the external environment when the research and development (R&D) investment is much higher, and enterprises will speed up independent innovation when independent innovation knowledge is expected to bring a larger market share. The model can help enterprises to determine knowledge composition, the scale of R&D investment and predict the performance of NPD. 相似文献
