This paper shows that under certain conditions, multiple solutions for the flow rate exist in a natural ventilation system, induced by the non-linear interaction between buoyancy and wind forces. Under certain physical simplifications, the system is governed in steady state by a non-linear algebraic equation or a system of equations. Three examples are given here: a single-zone building with two openings, a channel with two end openings, and a two-zone building with two openings in each zone. Analytical and numerical solutions are presented. It is shown that in all three cases the flow rate exhibits hysteresis. These results have significant implications for multi-zone modelling of natural ventilation and smoke spread in buildings. An experimental investigation using a small-scale model in a water tunnel confirms that two steady-state solutions exist for a single-zone building. 相似文献

Abstract: The article presents renovation solutions for orthotropic steel bridge decks consisting of bonding a second steel plate to the existing steel deck in order to reduce the stresses and enlarge the life span of the orthotropic bridge deck. Two solutions for the interface layer between the existing deck plate and the second steel plate are presented: thin epoxy (bonded system) and thick polyurethane (sandwich system). A parametric study based on analytical solutions is carried out on flexural behavior of beams representing the renovation solutions. The influence of geometrical, mechanical and structural parameters on the stiffness and stress reduction factor of the system is studied. Maximum values of stiffness and stress reduction are achieved when maximizing the interface layer thickness and minimizing the second steel plate thickness with in certain practical limits. Based on the weight restrictions one can choose the most efficient interface layer regarding thickness and mechanical properties. 相似文献

This paper presents analytical solutions for predicting one-dimensional contaminant diffusion in a four-layer sediment-cap system, which is typically encountered in subaqueous in-situ capping of contaminated sediments. The sediment-cap system is comprised of, from top to bottom, a layer of capping material (e.g., clean sand), a layer of reactive core mat (RCM), a layer of contaminated sediment and a layer of uncontaminated sediment. Two different bottom boundary conditions are considered, i.e., zero-concentration-gradient bottom boundary condition and zero-concentration bottom boundary condition, for which the method of separation of variables is used to obtain the analytical solutions. The extensively verified CST3 (Consolidation and Solute Transport 3) model is used to verify the proposed analytical solutions. Using the verified analytical solutions, parametric studies are conducted to investigate the effect of several important parameters on contaminant transport in the four-layer sediment-cap system. The results indicate that the cap thickness, the contaminated sediment thickness, the uncontaminated sediment thickness, the effect of RCM, and the RCM distribution coefficient have significant impact on contaminant diffusion in the four-layer sediment-cap system. The analytical solutions presented herein can be used to assist the design of subaqueous in-situ capping of contaminated sediments and to verify other numerical models. 相似文献

以桥梁的耐久性和耐荷性为桥梁的质量指标,建立了考虑桥梁经济性和质量指标的维修加固模型。探讨了简单遗传算法(SGA)和免疫算法(IA)求最优桥梁维修管理计划的解的可能性,并对比了二者解的差别。结果表明当维修计划期间较短时,二者均可给出适当的优化解,当桥梁维修管理计划期间较长时,SGA法得出的准优化解频度减少,解的可靠性降低;而IA法可以给出SGA法无法得出的长期间维修计划的优化解,并给出复数的维修管理计划方案供用户选择。 相似文献

对四种群的捕食-被捕食模型,利用解的存在性定理、正性定理、上下解方法和相应的单调迭代序列,研究了一类具有时滞的非线性反应扩散系统的牛曼初边值问题,得到了解的存在性和平衡态方程正解的全局渐近稳定性的充分条件.这个结果隐含着捕食-被捕食系统的共存是持久的,平凡解和所有半平凡解是不稳定的. 相似文献
