Smart Identification Frameworks for Ubiquitous Computing Applications

We present our results of the conceptual design and the implementation of ubiquitous computing applications using smart identification technologies. First, we describe such technologies and their potential application areas, then give an overview of some of the applications we have developed. Based on the experience we have gained from developing these systems, we point out design concepts that we have found useful for structuring and implementing such applications. Building upon these concepts, we have created two frameworks based on Jini (i.e., distributed Java objects) and Web Services to support the development of ubiquitous computing applications that make use of smart identification technology. We describe our prototype frameworks, discuss the underlying concepts and present some lessons learned.     

Quantum dot heterostructures: Fabrication, properties, lasers (Review)

In the present review we summarize original results where 1) we have experimentally discovered a novel class of spontaneously ordered nanostructures, namely equilibrium arrays of threedimensional, coherently strained islands on crystal surfaces; 2) we have developed a theory of spontaneous formation of semiconductor nanostructures in heteroepitaxial systems; 3) we have experimentally demonstrated the existence of a novel class of semiconductor heterostructures, namely perfect quantum dots having an atom-like energy spectrum; we have performed a detailed investigation of the optical properties of quantum dots; 4) we have fabricated quantum dot-based injection lasers demonstrating unique charactristics, namely high-temperature stability of the threshold current and ultra-high material gain. Quantitative characterization of carrier injection across metal–organic interfaces using Bardeen theory

We have investigated the contact between a metal and an organic/polymeric (o/p) material and we have introduced a relation for carrier injection using Bardeen theory. A series of narrow barriers is considered in the semiconductor side to account for the localized nature of the carriers in the o/p material. As an application of the model, we have calculated the hopping rate of carriers in terms of the contact parameters. Also, we have discussed the hopping of carriers deep into the organic dielectric. Finally, we have explored the hopping rate in practical contacts between polyfluorene-based polymers and different electrodes.

Algorithms for Dynamic Routing in All-Optical Networks

In this paper, we have studied a number of algorithms for routing in all-optical wavelength routed networks. We have considered situations where a lightpath is dynamically created in response to a request for communication and the WDM channels constituting the lightpath are reclaimed when the communication is over. We have looked at two schemes for dynamic wavelength allocation. In the first scheme we have assumed the existence of a central agent to maintain a database of existing lightpaths where the central agent attempts to generate a new lightpath in response to a request for communication. In the second scheme, we attempt to generate a new lightpath using a distributed algorithm. In the first scheme we have exploited the existence of multiple paths between any pair of nodes in a network in order to reduce the blocking probability. For the second scheme, we have proposed three distributed strategies to determine, if possible, a lightpath when there is a request for communication. Each of these strategies have their advantages and disadvantages in terms of the expected blocking probability and the set-up time. We have studied the performances of both the schemes using Monte Carlo simulation.     

单片机液晶显示系统的设计

以C8051F单片机和液晶显示控制器KS0108为核心,设计了单片机控制的液晶显示系统。重点研究了图形的动态显示技术,介绍了液晶显示模块的硬件、软件特性。文中设计的电路在C8051F020单片机仿真实验系统上进行了仿真,实验结果表明,设计达到了预期目标。     

基于经验值的分层PMTU探测算法

IPv6协议规定路由器不再对IP分组进行分段,因此端到端的PMTU探测成为IPv6应用中的关键环节,研究高性能的PMTU探测算法是当前下一代互联网领域中的研究热点.论文针对目前分层探测算法存在等概率探测点带来的发送探测包较多的问题,提出了一种基于经验值的分层探测算法,并从探测精度、总花费时间和总发包数等方面分析了该算法的测试性能,在CERNET2环境下,对比测试了一些常见PMTU算法的性能.实验结果表明,该算法的测试精度、测试耗时和发送探测分组数等性能方面都优于其他探测算法.     

通过优化Mobile IP的平滑切换改善TCP性能

Mobile IP中的切换将会导致数据包的丢失。平滑切换避免了数据包的丢失，却可能导致数据包的失序。文章分析了已有的减少失序数据包的方案的不足，提出了新的改进方案，并进行了评估，证明了其优越性。     

Field failure mechanism and improvement of EOS failure of integrated IGBT inverter modules

In this paper, we have proved that the soft damage from human body ESD can actually cause EOS damage, while integrated IGBT inverter modules (or intelligent power modules) are operating. Failure mechanism was defined as a latchup phenomenon by ESD damage leakage. Failure modes of each failed IGBT inside two integrated IGBT inverter modules were soft and hard burnout, respectively. To determine the failure mechanism, we have done fault tree analysis. From this analysis, we could conclude the main factor as the ESD event between device ESD immunity and PCB assembly line. In addition, from the PCB assembly line, we have identified damage samples due to an ESD event. Based on this result, we have implied ESD on IGBT and intentionally caused a leakage, then applied the device to the system. After an aging test, we could reproduce soft burnout and hard burnout.     

一种汉字楷书特征提取方法＊

本文针对汉字楷体手书识别问题,从整体计算的角度,提出了一种汉字形体特征提取的解决方法并付诸于具体系统的实现。由于强调了汉字整体信息和相对关系的结构特征,比较成功地把握了区分手书汉字的关键因素,汉字识别率达80％以上,效果比较理想。     

用AC1056实现对雪崩光电二极管温漂的偏压补偿

雪崩光电二极管(APD)的增益严重地受到温度的影响.AC1056是一款多功能的12位A/D板,具有A/D转换和D/A控制的功能.利用它得到了具有相当精度的对APD偏压和温度的采集和具有高精度的对APD偏压的控制,从而获得了在维持APD增益比较恒定的条件下其温度和偏压之间的关系,并在应用中实现了对APD温度漂移的偏压补偿.     

Change, courage, and responsibility [managing change post 9/11]

Acknowledging the sea change that has occurred in the USA following 9/11, we have to be cognizant of the fact that, as a result, our lives will most certainly change. How will our companies deal with the unexpected impact of this tragedy? And how are individuals in the companies managing the change that is inevitable in light of the present economic and political circumstances? What do individuals have to do in order to promote greater productivity within a company? We can no longer be complacent in our jobs or in our lives as a whole if we are going to continue to be the great nation that we are. We have to take responsibility and be proactive in our jobs. And this takes courage. We have to come to grips with habits and thinking that keep us bound to the past. We have to see that our fellow workers are properly trained; we have to take responsibility for that training, whether we give it or receive it. We have to be open to suggestions and take responsibility for making suggestions as well as implementing them.     

Special issue on rational approximations for systems

Conclusions To conclude our discussion we can only confess to our shortcomings as organizers and editors. We have been incomplete, we have been biased, and, worst of all, we have not been able to produce the most essential connections in any firm way. Perhaps our major achievement — if we may say so — has been to point the way to many possible new results and to new research. The field discussed here seemed at first very conventional. May we have convinced the reader that it is not. That the major problems have not been solved. That here lies an open field for system engineers, numerical analysts, and mathematicians.The workshop on rational approximations for systems and the present editorial work were partially supported by the NFWO (Brussels), the Belgian Ministry of Education and Culture, and the Third Cycle Research Fund of the Katholische Universiteit Leuven.

高频低阻抗长寿命无极性铝电解电容器的研制

从铝电解电容器的基本性能分析入手，对高频低阻抗无极性铝电解电容器的特性进行了分析和讨论，开发出新型的工作电解液，并选择合适的材料，研制出了可用于８５℃，３０００ｈ的高频低阻抗无极性铝电解电容器。     

CO_2激光辐照酿酒酵母菌的诱变作用

CO_2激光对甘蔗糖密工业性生产用酿酒酵母菌（SaccharomycescerevisiaeAS2．1189）进行辐照处理，经酵母菌糖密酒精发酵试验，对产乙醇含量进行了气相色谱分析，发现CO2激光对酿酒酵母菌具有明显的生物刺激效应，并初步筛选到乙醇含量有较大变化的辐照变异菌株；通过对这些辐照变异菌珠的乙醇脱氢酶同工酶的比较分析，证实了CO2激光对酿酒酵母菌的诱变作用。     

Mickey-128的错误攻击

通过分析流密码算法Mickey-128,提出一种差分错误攻击.在密钥流生成阶段插入640次错误,需要960个密钥,可计算出寄存器R和S在密钥流生成阶段的初始状态,从而恢复整个密钥流.在得出寄存器R和S在密钥流生成阶段的初始状态的前提下,在初始化阶段最坏情况下插入416次错误,需要12480个密钥可计算出密钥种子K和初始...     

Theory of backward second-harmonic and third-harmonic generationusing laser pulses in quasi-phase-matched second-order nonlinear medium

Recently, we have observed backward second-harmonic generation (SHG) using subpicosecond and nanosecond laser pulses in periodically poled lithium niobate crystals. The conversion efficiency in terms of energy density per pulse measured in the experiments agrees well with that based on our theory. In this paper, we present our theoretical investigation of this process in detail. Although the temporal behaviors of the second-harmonic radiation are determined by the same functions as those for the forward SHG, the amounts of pulse broadening and conversion efficiencies are quite different for the two configurations. In addition, we have investigated saturation of the conversion efficiencies. We have also considered effective third-harmonic generation based on cascaded second-order nonlinear processes. For a few optimized spatial periods of the domains, we have estimated the conversion efficiencies

Calculation of self-tuning process of frequency filters in Mathcad system

Ona basis of theory of automated following the frequency of input signal systems in dynamic mode we have obtained analytical expression for transient frequency of general frequency filters tuning. As a result we have proved a possibility of MathCAD application for filter self-tuning process. Taking into account known features of non-stationery process active spectrum, we have obtained another possibility of mentioned calculations. We propose an algorithm for these calculations for general filters. We note that known problem of mathematical analysis of general following filters is solved.
