Summary. The dynamic behavior of a crack in a functionally graded piezoelectric material (FGPM) strip bonded to two half dissimilar piezoelectric material planes subjected to combined harmonic anti-plane shear wave and in-plane electrical loading was studied under the limited permeable and permeable electric boundary conditions. It was assumed that the elastic stiffness, piezoelectric constant and dielectric permittivity of the functionally graded piezoelectric layer vary continuously along the thickness of the strip. By using the Fourier transform, the problem can be solved with a set of dual integral equations in which the unknown variables are the jumps of the displacements and the electric potentials across the crack surfaces. In solving the dual integral equations, the jumps of the displacements and the electric potentials across the crack surfaces were expanded in a series of Jacobi polynomials. Numerical results illustrate the effects of the gradient parameter of FGPM, electric loading, wave number, thickness of FGPM strip and electric boundary conditions on the dynamic stress intensity factors (SIFs).  相似文献

In the present study, finite element formulation based on higher order shear deformation plate theory is developed to analyze nonlinear natural frequencies, time and frequency responses of functionally graded plate with surface-bonded piezoelectric layers under thermal, electrical and mechanical loads. The von Karman nonlinear strain–displacement relationship is used to account for the large deflection of the plate. The material properties of functionally graded material (FGM) are assumed temperature-dependent. The temperature field has uniform distribution over the plate surface and varies in the thickness direction. The considered electric field only has non-zero-valued component Ez. Numerical results are presented to study effects of FGM volume fraction exponent, applied voltage in piezoelectric layers, thermal load and vibration amplitude on nonlinear natural frequencies and time response of FGM plate with integrated piezoelectric layers. In addition, nonlinear frequency response diagrams of the plate are presented and effects of different parameters such as FGM volume fraction exponent, temperature gradient, and piezoelectric voltage are investigated.  相似文献

A finite crack under transient anti-plane shear loads in a functionally graded piezoelectric material (FGPM) bonded to a homogeneous piezoelectric strip is considered. It is assumed that the electroelastic material properties of the FGPM vary continuously according to exponential functions along the thickness of the strip, and that the two layered strips is under combined anti-plane shear mechanical and in-plane electrical impact loads. The analysis is conducted on the electrically unified crack boundary condition. Laplace and Fourier transforms are used to reduce the mixed boundary value problems to Fredholm integral equations of the second kind in the Laplace transform domain. Then, a numerical Laplace inversion is performed and the dynamic intensities are obtained as functions of time and geometric parameters, which are displayed graphically.  相似文献

In this paper, a finite element model has been developed for the geometrically nonlinear static analysis of simply supported functionally graded (FG) plates integrated with a patch of vertically reinforced 1-3 piezoelectric composite material acting as a distributed actuator. The material properties of the functionally graded substrate plate are assumed to be graded only in the thickness direction according to the power-law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents. The analysis of the electro-elastic coupled problem includes the transverse deformations of the overall plate to utilize the transverse normal actuation by the distributed actuator for counteracting the nonlinear deformations of smart functionally graded plates. The nonlinear governing equations of equilibrium are solved by using direct iteration method with under-relaxation. The numerical illustrations suggest the potential use of the distributed actuator made of vertically reinforced 1-3 piezoelectric composite material for active control of nonlinear deformations of smart functionally graded plates. The effect of variation of piezoelectric fiber orientation in the distributed actuator on its control authority for counteracting the nonlinear deformations of smart functionally graded plates has also been investigated.  相似文献

Summary. In this paper, a finite crack propagating at constant speed in a functionally graded piezoelectric material (FGPM) is studied. It is assumed that the electroelastic material properties of the FGPM vary continuously according to exponential gradients along the thickness of the strip, and that the strip is under anti-plane shear mechanical and in-plane electrical loads. The analysis is conducted on the electrically unified (natural) crack boundary condition, which is related to the ellipsoidal crack parameters. By using the Fourier transform, the problem is reduced to the solutions of Fredholm integral equations of the second kind. Numerical results for the stress intensity factor and crack sliding displacement are presented to show the influences of the elliptic crack parameters, crack propagation speed, electric field, FGPM gradation, crack length, and electromechanical coupling coefficient. It reveals that there are considerable differences between traditional electric crack models and the present unified crack model.  相似文献

In the present paper, the dynamic behavior of a Griffth crack in the functionally graded piezoelectric material (FGPM) is investigated. It is assumed that the elastic stiffness, piezoelectric constant, dielectric permittivity and mass density of the FGPM vary continuously as an exponential function, and that FGPM is under the anti-plane mechanical loading and in-plane electrical loading. By using the Fourier transform and defining the jumps of displacement and electric potential components across the crack surface as the unknown functions, two pairs of dual integral equations are derived. To solve the dual integral equations, the jumps of the displacement and electric potential components across the crack surface are expanded in a series of Jacobi polynomial. Numerical examples are provided to show the effects of material properties on the stress and the electric displacement intensity factors.  相似文献

Dynamic response sensitivity of a simply supported functionally graded magneto-electro-elastic plates have been studied by combining analytical method with finite element method. The functionally graded material parameters are assumed to obey exponential law in the thickness direction. A series solution of double trigonometric function agreed with the simply supported boundary condition is adopted in the plane of the plate and finite element method is used across the thickness of the plate. The finite element model is established based on energy variational principle. The coupled electromagnetic dynamic characteristics of a simply supported functionally graded magneto- electro-elastic plate are decided by its dynamics differential equation into which displacement components, electric potential and magnetic potential as nodal degree of freedom are incorporated. Dynamic response sensitivity is defined as a partial differential of dynamic response with respect to material parameter. Sensitivity of dynamic response of a simply supported functionally graded magneto-electro-elastic plate to its elastic parameters has been studied. The influence of the different exponential factor on dynamic response sensitivity has also been investigated.  相似文献

In this paper, an exact solution is presented for the multilayered rectangular plate made of functionally graded, anisotropic, and linear magneto-electro-elastic materials. While the edges of the plate are under simply supported conditions, general mechanical, electric and magnetic boundary conditions can be applied on both the top and bottom surfaces of the plate. The functionally graded material is assumed to be exponential in the thickness direction and the homogeneous solution in each layer is obtained based on the pseudo-Stroh formalism. For multilayered plate structure, the propagator matrix method is employed so that only a 5 × 5 system of linear algebraic equations needs to be solved. The exact solution is then applied to two functionally graded (exponential) sandwich plates made of piezoelectric BaTiO3 and magnetostrictive CoFe2O4, under mechanical and electric loads on the top surface. While the numerical results clearly show the influence of the exponential factor, magneto-electro-elastic properties, and loading types on induced magneto-electric-elastic fields, they can also serve as benchmarks to numerical methods such as the finite and boundary element methods.  相似文献

Buckling analysis of perfect circular functionally graded plates with surface-bounded piezoelectric layers based on the first-order shear deformation theory is presented in this article. The material properties of the functionally graded (FG) layer are assumed to vary continuously through the plate thickness by distribution of power law of the volume fraction of the constituents. The plate is assumed to be under constant electrical field and two types of thermal loadings, namely, the uniform temperature rise and nonlinear temperature gradient through the thickness. Also, the stability of a plate under radial mechanical compressive force is examined. The equilibrium and stability equations are derived based on the first-order shear deformation plate theory using a variational approach. The boundary condition of the plate as an immovable type of the clamped edge is considered. Resulting equations are employed to obtain the closed-form solution for the critical buckling temperature for each loading case. The effects of electric field, piezo-to-host thickness ratio, and power law index of functionally graded plates subjected to thermo-mechanical-electrical loads are investigated. The results are compared with the classical plate theory and verified with the available data in the open literature.  相似文献

A unified formulation of Reissner's mixed variational theorem-based finite cylindrical layer methods is developed for the static analysis of simply-supported, multilayered functionally graded piezoelectric material (FGPM) circular hollow cylinders. The material properties of the cylinder are assumed to obey an exponent-law exponentially varying through the thickness coordinate of this. The trigonometric functions and Lagrange polynomials are used to interpolate the in-surface and thickness variations of the primary variables of each individual layer, respectively. The coupled electro-elastic effects on the static behaviors of multilayered FGPM cylinders are closely examined.  相似文献

Nonlinear thermal bending analysis is presented for a simply supported, shear deformable functionally graded plate without or with piezoelectric actuators subjected to the combined action of thermal and electrical loads. Heat conduction and temperature-dependent material properties are both taken into account. The temperature field considered is assumed to be a uniform distribution over the plate surface and varied in the thickness direction and the electric field considered only has non-zero-valued component EZ. The material properties of functionally graded materials (FGMs) are assumed to be graded in the thickness direction according to a simple power law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents, and the material properties of both FGM and piezoelectric layers are assumed to be temperature-dependent. The governing equations of an FGM plate are based on a higher order shear deformation plate theory that includes thermo-piezoelectric effects. A two step perturbation technique is employed to determine the thermal load–deflection and thermal load–bending moment curves. The numerical illustrations concern nonlinear bending response of FGM plates without or with surface bonded piezoelectric actuators due to heat conduction and under different sets of electric loading conditions. The results reveal that for the case of heat conduction the nonlinear thermal bending responses are quite different to those of FGM plates subjected to transverse mechanical loads, and the temperature-dependency of FGMs could not be neglected in the thermal bending analysis.  相似文献

Based on three-dimensional theory of elasticity axisymmetric static analysis of functionally graded circular and annular plates imbedded in piezoelectric layers is investigated using differential quadrature method (DQM). The plate has various edges boundary conditions and its material properties are assumed to vary in an exponential law with the Poisson ratio to be constant. This method can give an analytical solution along the graded direction using the state space method (SSM) and an effective approximate solution along the radial direction using the one-dimensional DQM. The method is validated by comparing numerical results with the results obtained in the literature. Both the direct and the inverse piezoelectric effects are investigated and the influence of piezoelectric layers on the mechanical behavior of plate is studied. The effects of the gradient index, thickness to radius ratio, and edges boundary conditions on the static behavior of FG circular and annular plates are investigated.  相似文献

Transient response of a penny-shaped crack in a plate of a functionally graded piezoelectric material (FGPM) is studied under thermal shock loading conditions. It is assumed that the thermoelectroelastic properties of the strip vary continuously along the thickness of the strip, and that the crack faces are completely insulated. By using both the Laplace and Hankel transforms, the thermal and electromechanical problems are reduced to a singular integral equation and a system of singular integral equations which are solved numerically. The intensity factors vs. time for various crack size, crack position and material nonhomogeneity are obtained.  相似文献

Here, asymmetric free vibration characteristics and thermoelastic stability of functionally graded circular plates are investigated using finite element procedure. A three-noded shear flexible plate element based on the field-consistency principle is used. Temperature field is assumed to be a uniform distribution over the plate surface and varied in thickness direction only. Material properties are graded in the thickness direction according to simple power law distribution. For the numerical illustrations, aluminum/alumina is considered as functionally graded material. The variation in critical buckling load is highlighted considering gradient index, temperature, radius-to-thickness ratios, circumferential wave number and boundary condition of the plate.  相似文献

This work deals with the geometrically nonlinear thermo-electro-elastic analysis of functionally graded (FG) annular sector plates integrated with the annular patches of cylindrically orthotropic piezoelectric fiber reinforced composite (PFRC). The annular patches with an external voltage across their thickness act as the distributed actuators and their performance in controlling the nonlinear flexural deformations of the host FG plates is investigated. The temperature field is assumed to be spatially uniform over the plate surfaces and varied through the thickness of the substrate FG plates. The temperature-dependent material properties of the FG plates are assumed to be graded in the thickness direction of the plates according to a power-law distribution while the Poisson’s ratio is assumed to be a constant over the domain of the substrate plate. A finite element model of the overall smart FG annular sector plate is developed based on the first order shear deformation theory and the Von Karman nonlinear strain–displacement relations. The governing nonlinear finite element equations are derived employing the principle of minimum potential energy and solved using direct iteration method. The numerical results illustrate significant control authority of the cylindrically orthotropic PFRC annular patches for active control of nonlinear deformations of the substrate FG annular sector plates. The numerical results also reveal the best radial and circumferential locations of the annular PFRC patches for effective control. For a specified circumferential stretch of the annular PFRC patches, their minimum radial length is numerically estimated in such a way that the performance of the overall smart FG plate is not affected significantly. The effects of the material properties and the temperature of the host FG plate on the performance of the annular PFRC patches are also discussed.  相似文献

Postbuckling analysis of functionally graded ceramic-metal plates under temperature field is presented using finite element multi-mode method. The three-node triangular element based on the Mindlin plate theory is employed to account for the transverse shear strains, and the von-Karman nonlinear strain-displacement relation is utilized considering the geometric nonlinearity. The effective material properties are assumed to vary through the thickness direction according to the power law distribution of the volume fraction of constituents. The temperature distribution along the thickness is determined by one dimensional Fourier equations of heat conduction. The buckling mode shape solved from eigen-buckling analysis is adopted as the assumed mode function to reduce the degrees of freedom of nonlinear postbuckling equilibrium equations. The postbuckling response is obtained by solving the nonlinear equilibrium equations, and compared with the Newton- Raphson numerical results. The effects of boundary conditions, material gradient index and temperature distribution on postbuckling behavior are examined.  相似文献

Three-dimensional nonlinear thermo-elastic analysis of a functionally graded cylindrical shell with piezoelectric layers under the effect of asymmetric thermo-electro-mechanical loads is carried out. The strain–displacement relations are based on the nonlinear Lagrangian strain–displacement relations; that is, nonlinear terms containing derivatives of the displacement in the radial direction are included. Material properties of the shell are assumed to be graded in the radial direction according to a power law but the Poisson’s ratio is assumed to be constant. Cylindrical shells are assumed to be under the effect of pressure loading in cosine form, ring pressure loads, electric and temperature fields. Numerical results of stress, displacement, electric and thermal fields are obtained by using two versions of the differential quadrature methods, namely polynomial and Fourier quadrature methods. The convergence of the solution is studied, and results of the axisymmetric loadings are verified with reported results for a cylindrical shell with material properties obeying a power law. Effects of the grading index of material properties, the temperature difference, the ratio of the mean radius to the thickness of the shell, boundary conditions, the thickness of piezoelectric layers and electric excitation on stress, displacement, electric and temperature fields are presented.  相似文献
