实现了一种基于两个级联微环谐振器的导向光学译码器,器件利用等离子色散效应调制微环谐振器。制作工艺误差引起的两个微环谐振器谐振波长不一致可以通过微环谐振器上热极进行补偿。码型发生器产生的两个电学信号驱动微环谐振器的PIN结,由四个输出端口的光学信号给出译码结果。通过对器件的静态光谱分析得到工作波长和驱动电压。最终实现了100Mbps的动态译码结果。  相似文献

以SiN为材料,采用与CMOS工艺相兼容的技术,制备了波导宽度为1μm,半径为400μm的SiN光学微环。经测量,其品质因数(Q值)高达20 000,自由光谱范围(FSR)为0.5 nm。提出了采用光学微环传感器、单波长光源和光功率计对待测物进行测量的方案。实验证明,该方案与传统的采用光谱仪测量谐振峰值漂移的方法相比,可以取得更高的系统探测灵敏度。最后,利用微环传感器对葡萄糖溶液浓度进行测量,灵敏度高达10-4折射率单元(RIU),证明了该传感器可以应用于溶液检测领域。  相似文献

This paper experimentally investigated slow light effect in cascaded silicon-on-insulator (SOI) microring resonators.Double channel and single channel sidecoupled integrated spaced sequence of resonators (SCISSOR) devices were fabricated with electron beam lithography and dry etching technology.The delay performances of the SCISSOR devices were demonstrated using non-return-to-zero (NRZ) and return-to-zero (RZ)signals at different bit rates.Group delays and bandwidths of cascaded microrings are significantly enhanced compared with single microring.  相似文献

A modulator is an essential building block in the integrated photonics,connecting the electrical with optical signals.The microring modulator gains much attention because of the small footprint,low drive voltage and high extinction ratio.An ultra-low Vpp and high-modulation-depth indium phosphide-based racetrack microring modulator is demonstrated in this pa-per.The proposed device mainly comprises one racetrack microring,incorporating a semiconductor amplifier,and coupling with a bus waveguide through a multimode interference coupler.Traveling wave electrodes are employed to supply bidirection-al bias ports,terminating with a 50-Ω impedance.The on/off extinction ratio of the microring reaches 43.3 dB due to the delic-ately tuning of the gain.An 11 mV Vpp,a maximum 42.5 dB modulation depth and a 6.6 GHz bandwidth are realized,respect-ively.This proposed microring modulator could enrich the functionalities and designability of the fundamental integrated devices.  相似文献

In this paper, we demonstrate all-optical nonlinear switching in compact GaAs-AlGaAs microring resonators at the 1.55-μm wavelength. Switching is accomplished in the pump-and-probe configuration in which the pump-and-probe signals are tuned to different resonance wavelengths of the microring. Refractive index change in the microring due to free carriers generated by two photon absorption is used to switch the probe beam in and out of resonance. Measured transient responses of the pump and probe through the microring show good agreement with theoretical predictions based on nonlinear pump-probe interaction due to two photon absorption  相似文献

Novel transfer functions are presented for a polymer electro-optic microring resonator switches. The resonating process of the light in the microring is simulated using the formulas. Then the optimization of the structural parameters is performed, and the characteristics are analyzed, such as the resonance time, output spectrum, operation voltage, insertion loss and crosstalk were analyzed. The simulation results show that the designed device exhibits favorable switching functions.  相似文献

A new technique is presented to make vertically coupled semiconductor microring resonators that eases the fabrication process with devices more robust to ring-to-waveguide misalignments. Single-mode microring optical channel dropping filters are demonstrated for the first time in this configuration with Qs greater than 3000 and an on-resonance channel extinction greater than 12 dB. A 1×4 multiplexer/demultiplexer crossbar array with second-order microrings was also made and exhibited channel-to-channel crosstalk lower than 10 dB  相似文献

An analytical model for the performance analysis of a multiple input queued asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) switch is presented. The interconnection network of the ATM switch is internally nonblocking and each input port maintains a separate queue of cells for each output port. The switch uses parallel iterative matching (PIM) to find the maximal matching between the input and output ports of the switch. A closed-form solution for the maximum throughput of the switch under saturated conditions is derived. It is found that the maximum throughput of the switch exceeds 99% with just four iterations of the PIM algorithm. Using the tagged input queue approach, an analytical model for evaluating the switch performance under an independent identically distributed Bernoulli traffic with the cell destinations uniformly distributed over all output ports is developed. The switch throughput, mean cell delay, and cell loss probability are computed from the analytical model. The accuracy of the analytical model is verified using simulation  相似文献

In this letter, we propose a new analysis model of multiple input-queued switches that use the parallel iterative matching (PIM) scheduling algorithm under i.i.d Bernoulli traffic. Compared to the previous analysis models, our approach incurs very low computational complexity while maintaining good accuracy by employing a simple queueing model. Specifically, we model an input queue of the switch as a synchronous Geom/Geom/1/B queue with a service rate which is directly obtained from a PIM scheduling algorithm. We demonstrate an optical channel dropping filter (OCDF) using three parallel-cascaded vertically coupled microrings with improved rolloff, bandpass flattening, and wide free spectral range (FSR) compared to a single-ring OCDF using single-mode tightly confined waveguides in both GaAs-AlGaAs and GaInAsP-InP. We achieve FSRs of 30 nm for GaAs-AlGaAs and 40 nm for GaInAsP-InP devices, which are three and four times greater, respectively, than those for single rings. The rolloff is 2.8 times faster than that for a single ring.  相似文献

We report on improved filter characteristics of microring resonators (MRs) used as add-drop multiplexers for integrated photonic circuits. By introducing an asymmetrical coupling of the signal waveguides to the resonator, a higher throughput attenuation and drop efficiency is attained. The throughput attenuation is the decisive property for the application of microrings in photonic networks since it determines the crosstalk between drop signal and add signal at the throughput channel of an add-drop multiplexer. Experimental results are compared with analytical relations. MRs with a free-spectral range of 24 nm are fabricated on silicon-on-insulator substrates. A crosstalk reduction by 8.8 dB due to asymmetrical coupling is demonstrated.  相似文献

In this paper, a microring resonator (MRR) system using double-series ring resonators is proposed to generate and investigate the Rabi oscillations. The system is made up of silicon-on-insulator and attached to bus waveguide which is used as propagation and oscillation medium. The scattering matrix method is employed to determine the output signal intensity which acts as the input source between two-level Rabi oscillation states, where the increase of Rabi oscillation frequency with time is obtained at the resonant state. The population probability of the excited state is higher and unstable at the optical resonant state due to the nonlinear spontaneous emission process. The enhanced spontaneous emission can be managed by the atom (photon) excitation, which can be useful for atomic related sensors and single-photon source applications.  相似文献

The rectangular optical filter is one of the most important optical switching components in the dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) fiber-optic communication system and the intelligent optical network. The integrated high-order silicon microring resonator (MRR) is one of the best candidates to achieve rectangular filtering spectrum response. In general, the spectrum response rectangular degree of the single MRR is very low, so it cannot be used in the DWDM system. Using the high-order MRRs, the bandwidth of flat-top pass band, the out-of-band rejection degree and the roll-off coefficient of the edge will be improved obviously. In this paper, a rectangular optical filter based on high-order MRRs with uniform couplers is presented and demonstrated. Using 15 coupled race-track MRRs with 10 μm in radius, the 3 dB flat-top pass band of 2 nm, the out-of-band rejection ratio of 30 dB and the rising and falling edges of 48 dB/nm can be realized successfully. We report on an eight-channel reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexer based on cascaded microring resonators with a high tuning power consumption and a compact footprint. Microheaters are fabricated on top of the microring resonators and can be modulated using the thermo-optic effect to achieve the reconfigurable functionality of the device. We demonstrate the reconfigurable add-drop multiplexing functionality for channel spacings of 100 GHz and 50 GHz, with the centre wavelengths of the channels aligned to International Telecommunication Union grid specifications. The crosstalk for channel spacings of 100 GHz and 50 GHz are less than..22:5 dB and..15:5 dB, respectively. The average tuning efficiency is about 4.5 mW/nm, and the response speed is about 13.0 kHz.  相似文献

设计了一个基于硅基微环的超紧凑的微波光子滤波器,用以提高硅基微波光子器件的集成密度及增大其自由光谱范围。根据波导光学的耦合模理论,推导出双环并联谐振器的光强传递函数,并通过仿真得到了微波光子滤波器的输出特性。结果表明:当微环半径为0.79 m时,谐振器中直波导宽度为0.3 m,环形波导宽度为0.25 m,滤波器的自由光谱范围为140 nm,插入损耗为0.5 dB,半峰全宽为7 nm,此滤波器的性能完全满足粗波分复用系统的要求。  相似文献

We report propagation loss measurements in single-mode GaAs-AlGaAs racetrack microresonators with bending radii from 2.7 μm to 9.7 μm. The experimental data were found to be in good agreement with a physical-loss model which accounts for the bending loss, the scattering loss due to surface roughness on the waveguide sidewalls, and the transition loss at the straight-to-bend waveguide junctions. The model also enables us to identify the dominant loss mechanisms in semiconductor microcavities. We found that for racetracks with large bending radii (greater than 4 μm, in our case) the loss due to surface-roughness scattering in the curved waveguides dominates, whereas for small-radius rings, the modal mismatch at the straight-to-bend waveguide junctions causes the biggest loss. This result suggests that circular-shaped rings are preferable in the realization of ultrasmall low-loss microcavities. We also show that the round-trip propagation loss in small-radius racetrack microresonators can be minimized by introducing a lateral offset at the straight-to-bend waveguide junctions  相似文献

We produced laterally coupled optical microring resonators having high finesse (F/spl sime/17 at 1.5-/spl mu/m wavelength) using a two-step patterning technique based on optical photolithography. The technique used allows us to separately control the height of both ring and port waveguides and structure submicrometer gaps. The resonance spectrum of microrings with radii of 50 /spl mu/m made of an organic-inorganic hybrid polymer have an extinction ratio of about 12 dB and a filter bandwidth /spl delta//spl lambda//spl sime/0.28 nm (full-width at half-maximum) at a wavelength /spl lambda/=1547.78 nm. We show that the resonances can be thermooptically tuned by 0.2 nm//spl deg/C, thus allowing us to modulate the transmission of the through port signal.  相似文献

In order to improve the performance of optical wavelength-selective switches based on double micro-ring resonators, an asymmetric intra-step-barrier coupled double strained quantum wells (AICD-SQWs) structure is utilized as the active light guiding medium. The AICD-SQW active layer has advantages, such as large change range in absorption coefficient, high extinction ratio, large Stark shift and very low insertion. For predicting the switching characteristics of double ring resonators structure, the absorption coefficient and real refractive index changes of the AICD-SQW active layer are calculated for different applied electric fields for TE input light polarization. Simulation results show that switching characteristics strongly depend on changes in absorption coefficient and real refractive index of active layer. In addition, isolations of 37.44 dB and 26.84 dB are realized between drop and through ports, when drop and through ports are ON and OFF, respectively, and vice versa.  相似文献
