Poly[bis(-phenoxyethoxy)phosphazene] [PBPEP] had been shown in our previous paper to be a very useful polymer for investigating the crystallization mechanism of polymers, as the crystallization rate of PBPEP is extraordinarily small when isothermally crystallized from the melt. The crystallization of the low molecular weight oligomers of PBPEP was first studied in comparison to the high molecular weight polymers. The oligomer-rich fraction was obtained by fractionation of the as-polymerized sample, which had a broad molecular weight distribution. The fractions thus obtained were characterized by solution viscometry and size exclusion chromatography. The melting temperature and the growth rate of the spherulite from the melt were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry and optical microscopy. The growth rate was one or two orders of magnitude smaller in the oligomer-rich fraction than in the other high molecular weight fractions. A collapsed spherulite appeared in the oligomer-rich fraction at high crystallization temperatures. It is speculated that in the oligomer-rich fraction there is an excess free energy due to defects in the crystal phase. This defect is considerably larger in the oligomer-rich fraction than in the other fractions because a large quantity of short length chains is present.  相似文献

Carbon nanotubes are demonstrated as a good support for the immobilization of -Glucosidase. This is an enzyme with high molecular weight (ca. 135 kDa). A high enzyme loading of 630 mg per gram of support was achieved in 12 h. The link between the enzyme and the carbon nanotubes surface was by electrostatic interactions due to the different charges of the enzyme and the support at the pH of the immobilization. Immobilized -Glucosidase showed a catalytic activity above 400 U/g on the hydrolysis of 4-nitrophenyl--D-glucopyranoside (p-NPG).  相似文献

The effects of fluorination on H zeolite and alkylation of benzene with long-chain olefins catalyzed by fluorinated zeolite are investigated. The lifetime of the catalysts depends on the surface area and pore volume rather than acidity. When the fluorine content is 0.5%, the lifetime improves by 30%, when the catalyst has maximum specific surface area and pore volume.  相似文献

This study characterized the chemical response of healthy red pine to artificial inoculation with the bark beetle-vectored fungusLeptographium terebrantis. In addition, we sought to determine whether stress altered this induced response and to understand the implications of these interactions to the study of decline diseases. Twenty-five-year-old trees responded to mechanical wounding or inoculation withL. terebrantis by producing resinous reaction lesions in the phloem. Aseptically wounded and wound-inoculated phloem contained higher concentrations of phenolics than did constitutive tissue. Trees inoculated withL. terebrantis also contained higher concentrations of six monoterpenes,-pinene,-pinene, 3-carene, limonene, camphene, and myrcene, and higher total monoterpenes than did trees that were mechanically wounded or left unwounded. Concentrations of these monoterpenes increased with time after inoculation. Total phenolic concentrations in unwounded stem tissue did not differ between healthy and root-diseased trees. Likewise, constitutive monoterpene concentrations in stem phloem were similar between healthy and root-diseased trees. However, when stem phloem tissue was challenged with fungal inoculations, reaction tissue from root-diseased trees contained lower concentrations of-pinene, the predominant monoterpene in red pine, than did reaction tissue from healthy trees. Seedlings stressed by exposure to low light levels exhibited less extensive induced chemical changes when challenge inoculated withL. terebrantis than did seedlings growing under higher light. Stem phloem tissue in these seedlings contained lower concentrations of-pinene than did nonstressed seedlings also challenge inoculated withL. terebrantis. It is hypothesized that monoterpenes and phenolics play a role in the defensive response of red pine against insect-fungal attack, that stress may predispose red pine to attack by insect-fungal complexes, and that such interactions are involved in red pine decline disease. A photosensitive polymer, -phenylcinnamylideneacetylated poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (poly(HEMA)), was synthesized and characterized. Light irradiation upon the photosensitive poly(HEMA) film induced gel formation via dimerization between the pendent -phenylcinnamylideneacetylates of the polymer. The gel content of the crosslinked polymer increased with increasing irradiation time and reached 60% when irradiated for 30 minutes. Correspondingly, the water content decreased from 27% to 18% with irradiation time increasing from 0 to 30 minutes. The solute permeability of the -phenylcinnamylideneacetylated poly(HEMA) without irradiation is about the same as that of the poly(HEMA) film. The crosslinked -phenylcinnamylideneacetylated poly(HEMA) film prepared by light irradiation had much lower permeability as compared with the non-crosslinked film. More specifically, the photocrosslinked film had the permeability of 5.37 × 10–7 cm/s, 1.32 × 10–7 cm/s and 0.53 × 10–7 cm/s for p-nitrophenol, tryptophan and flurbiprofen, respectively. This photosensitive -phenylcinnamylideneacetylated poly(HEMA) provides a new base material for fabricating poly(HEMA) hydrogel.  相似文献

The porosity of -alumina-based materials is an important parameter affecting the extent of fluorination (aerogels > commercial -Al2O3 > xerogels) and, consequently, also the textural, acidic and catalytic properties of the final fluorinated materials. A series of aluminum–boron–silicate MCM-41 mesoporous materials and their counterparts treated with NH4F aqueous solution were synthesized and characterized by using XRD, MAS NMR, nitrogen physisorption, DRIFT, TG-DTA, TP/MS and pyridine adsorption. All of the samples showed typical MCM-41 structural and textural properties. 27Al MAS NMR showed that the aluminum environment was mainly four-coordinated and six-coordinated aluminum for non-fluorinated samples and fluorinated ones, respectively. Boron was in the trigonal framework environment at ca. catalytic reaction temperatures and the NH4F treatment did not affect the boron environment in our Al,B-MCM-41 materials. All of the Al,B-MCM-41 materials studied contained both Brønsted and Lewis acid sites. However, the strong acid Brønsted/Lewis ratios decreased in the fluorinated catalysts. Moreover, the influence of temperature was studied on the cyclohexanone oxime conversion and the product selectivity in the 623–798 K range. Results indicated that temperatures lower than 748 K favored Beckmann rearrangement to -caprolactam, whereas, at higher temperatures the main reaction was cyclohexanone oxime hydrolysis to cyclohexanone. The aluminum–boron–silicate MCM-41 mesoporous materials treated with NH4F improved both the selectivity to -caprolactam (related mainly to boron content) and their life span (related to their lower ratios of strong Brønsted/Lewis acid sites).  相似文献

Short-range attraction/feeding stimulation of male Mediterranean fruit flies [Ceratitis capitata (Wiedemann), (Diptera: Tephritidae)] to a stem extract of a host plant,Litchi chinensis Sonn. (Sapindaceae), and to milky exudates from stems of nonhost plants,Ficus retusa L. andF. benjamina L. (Moraceae), were attributed to the presence of the sesquiterpene -copaene. The presence of -copaene in the milky exudate from stems ofF. benghalensis L. is also suggested as eliciting similar behavioral responses in male medflies. The presence of minor quantities of -ylangene in the plants and its contributory effects to the behavioral response of male medflies is discussed. Short-range attraction/feeding stimulation of male medflies to equal amounts of -ylangene-free -copaene samples (94.5%+), prepared from -copaene-enriched angelica seed oil and copaiba oil, respectively, showed no difference in intensity of response. -Ylangene elicited a slightly less intense response for male medflies than -copaene.Names of products in this paper are included for the benefit of the reader and do not imply endorsement or preferential treatment by USDA.  相似文献

Catalysis of polymer complexes using polyanilines and dinuclear cobalt porphyrin (Co2P) was investigated by electrochemical measurement. Poly(2,3-dicarboxyaniline) with CoTPPS–CoTMPyP acts as an excellent catalyst for a four-electron reduction of oxygen even under pseudo-neutral conditions. Various polymer complexes were made using synthesized electroresponsive polymers. The selectivity of the four-electron reduction dramatically decreases with an increase in the potential gap between the polymer and the porphyrin. This result indicates that a sequential electron transfer takes place from the polymer to the porphyrin with a potential similar to that of the cobalt porphyrin.  相似文献

A volatile kairomone of the two-spotted spider mite,Tetranychus urticae, elicits a searching response of the phytoseiid predatorAmblyseius potentillae, only when the predator is reared on a carotenoid-free diet. However, after addition of crystalline -carotene or vitamin A acetate to the predator's rearing diet this searching response was absent. Because vitamin A and -carotene are indispensable nutrients for diapause induction, the carotenoid-deficient predators increase their fitness by searching for two-spotted spider mites, when other spider mites are unavailable. Two-spotted spider mites, among others, contain the carotenoids required for diapause induction, but are an inferior prey due to the dense webbing they produce. When the predators have carotenoids at their disposal, they do better by searching for other spider mites that are more profitable in terms of reproductive success. Such a prey is the European red spide mite,Panonychus ulmi. The volatile kairomone of this prey elicits a searching response of the predator whether it has a carotenoid deficiency or not.  相似文献

Polyphagous grasshoppers consume plants that contain markedly greater amounts of potentially prooxidant allelochemicals than the grasses eaten by graminivorous grasshoppers. Therefore, levels of antioxidant defenses maintained by these herbivores might be expected to differ in accordance with host plant ranges. Antioxidant levels were compared in midgut tissues and gut fluids of a polyphagous grasshopper, Melanoplus sanguinipes, and a graminivorous grasshopper, Aulocara ellioti. Glutathione concentrations in midgut tissues of M. sanguinipes (10.6 mM) are among the highest measured in animal tissues and are twice as high as those in A. ellioti. -Tocopherol levels are 126% higher in midgut tissues of M. sanguinipes than in those of A. ellioti, and remain at high levels when M. sanguinipes is reared on plants containing a wide range of -tocopherol concentrations. Ascorbate levels in M. sanguinipes midgut tissues are 27% higher than in those of A. ellioti, but vary depending on the host plant on which they are reared. Midgut fluids of both species contain elevated levels of glutathione, as well as large (millimolar) amounts of undetermined antioxidants that are produced in the insects. The consumption of tannic acid decreases ascorbate concentrations in midgut tisssues and gut fluids of A. ellioti but has no effect on ascorbate levels in M. sanguinipes. The results of this study provide the first measurements of antioxidants in grasshoppers and suggest that the maintenance of high levels of antioxidants in the midgut tissues of polyphagous grasshoppers might effectively protect them from oxidative stress.  相似文献

Two diterpenoid alcohols, ent-kauran-16-ol (1) and ent-atisan-16-ol (2), were isolated from pre bloom (R3-R4 stage) sunflower heads as oviposition stimulants for the banded sunflower moth, Cochylis hospes. Fractionation of a sunflower head extract, by normal-phase flash column chromatography, resulted in an early eluting fraction exhibiting significant activity in an egg-laying bioassay. Compounds 1 and 2, along with ent-trachyloban- 19-oic acid (3) and ent-kaur-16-en-19-oic acid (4), were isolated as the major components of this fraction and identified by their NMR and mass spectra. The purified compounds were individually tested for ovipositional activity in dose-response bioassays. In these bioassays, compounds 1 and 2 gave linear dose responses, with increasing numbers of eggs laid as the dosage of either increased. Compounds 3 and 4 failed to stimulate significant egg-laying at any of the dosages tested. A factorial design bioassay, using compounds 1 and 2, showed that 1 was relatively more stimulatory than 2, and that there was no synergistic effect on oviposition when the two compounds were combined.  相似文献

Originally isolated fromDipterocarpus kerrii, the two previously uncharacterized sesquiterpenes,1 and20, were synthesized from α-gurjunene. A novel process involvingm-chloroperoxybenzoic acid oxidation ofα-gurjunene produced20 in one step. Spectroscopic studies determined that the diene moiety in20 is nonconjugated and also found the C-4 tertiary alcohol center to have theα-configuration, while the other stereocenters have configurations matching the corresponding centers inα-gurjunene. Bioassays with termites demonstrated that20 was more toxic than1, resulting in a 50% mortality in seven days when offered toNeotermes ?dalbergiae on filter papers. The chemicals appear to result from biotransformation ofα-gurjunene. In view of its similarity to the known sesquiterpeneγ-gurjunene, we suggest that20 be referred to asγ-gurjunenol.  相似文献

The Dufour glands of workers ofEciton burchelli contain a mixture of small quantities of oxygenated compounds, some of which are derived from terpenes, and C17-C25 hydrocarbons. The secretion of the Dufour glands of soldiers was either similar to that of workers, with geranylacetone a significant component, or they contained geranyllinalool in large amounts. The glands of workers and soldiers ofLabidus praedator andLabidus coecus contained (E)--ocimene, a new substance for the Dufour glands of ants. 4-Methyl-3-heptanone was the dominant compound in the mandibular glands ofE. burchelli andL. coecus. Two sesquiterpene hydrocarbons, -copaene and -ylangene, were isolated from bioactive fractions of angelica seed oil and were shown by field bioassays to be attractive to the male Mediterranean fruit fly. Their relative attractiveness, compared with the(+)-and (–)--copaene enantiomers, are: (+)--copaene>angelica -copaene>angelica -ylangene>(–)--copaene. The enantiomer ratios for the two compounds are: -copaene, 61.4% (+), 38.6% (–); -ylangene, 91.9% (+), 8.1% (–).trans--Bergamotene was also isolated from the same fractions, but in sufficient quantity for bioassay [enantiomer ratio: 95.7% (+), 4.3% (–)].  相似文献

Pea (Acyrthosiphon pisum Harris) and blue alfalfa aphid (A. kondoi Shinji) deterrency in alfalfa (Medicago saliva L.) may result from incorporating higher levels of the aphid alarm pheromone,(E)--farnesene relative to(E)--caryophyllene. We evaluated five eglandular and two glandular-haired alfalfa accessions for differences in(E)--farnesene and(E)--caryophyllene content under glasshouse conditions using supercritical fluid extraction and gas chromatography. In addition, pea and blue alfalfa aphid olfactory behavioral tests were conducted uponMedicago species containing different ratios of(E)--famesene relative to(E)--caryophyllene. No differences in(E)--caryophyllene content were observed among the seven entries (=0.42 ng/g plant material). Significant differences (P 0.05) among entries were observed for(E)--famesene content, with KS94GH6 exhibiting the highest (1.18 ng/g), and CUF 101 the lowest levels (0.35 ng/g). Elite tetraploid sources possessed significantly lower levels (=0.42 ng/g) of(E)--farnesene than did wild and cultivated diploid accessions (=0.83 ng/g). Olfactory behavioral tests for both the pea and blue alfalfa aphids demonstrated KS94GH6 repelled aphids while cultivated alfalfa types attracted aphids in each case. Previously demonstrated aphid resistance in diploid KS94GH6 may result from superior(E)-- farnesene levels, but(E)--farnesene is probably not a factor in cultivated alfalfa resistance. Finally, accession KS94GH6 could act as an excellent germplasm resource for the incorporation of higher(E)--farnesene levels into cultivated alfalfa.Research supported by the New Mexico State University Agricultural Experiment Station.  相似文献

The antifungal property of two of the principal components of the terpenoid frontal gland secretions of nasute termite soldiers was studied by incubating spore suspensions of the fungus Metarhizium anisopliae with -pinene and limonene singly or in combination at different concentrations. In vitro assays showed that these substances reduced spore germination through direct and indirect (vapor) contact. To determine if the frontal gland secretions protected termites from fungal infection in vivo, the effect of M. anisopliae on the time course of survival of Nasutitermes costalis and N. nigriceps was studied by exposing termites to either a 4.3 × 107 spores/ml or a control sporeless suspension. The caste composition of experimental groups was manipulated to create mixed-caste subcolonies and monocaste groups. Relative to Coptotermes formosanus, a species that relies on the mechanical defenses of soldiers, N. costalis and N. nigriceps were less susceptible to fungal infection. Spore-exposed N. costalis and N. nigriceps termites had 1.2 times the hazard ratio of death of controls, while the hazard ratio of death of spore-exposed C. formosanus was 11.4 times that of controls. Although the lower susceptibility to infection in Nasutitermes may be explained in part by the antifungal properties of -pinene and limonene, group composition also played a major role in the survival of spore-exposed termites. Mixed-caste and soldier monocaste groups had 3.4 and 4.7 times the hazard ratio of death, respectively, relative to the worker monocaste treatment. These results suggest that although Nasutitermes terpenoid secretions may have antifungal properties, the caste composition of groups and the social interactions of termites also play a role in determining susceptibility to fungal infection.  相似文献

8-Hydroxygeraniol and its 8-O--d-glucoside have been found as trace components in the defensive secretions ofPlagiodera versicolora andGastrophysa viridula larvae. This discovery supports the hypothesis that the evolution of the utilization of plant precursors by some chrysomelid species was favored by the plesiomorphic occurrence of a-glucosidase and an oxidase in the defensive secretion of iridoid-producing species.  相似文献
