ABSTRACT

A batch fluidized bed dryer was carried out for corn drying. Drying characteristics of corn were investigated The experimental results indicated that moisture transfer inside a corn kernel was controlled by internal diffusion by the following conditions : inlet hot air temperatures of 120 - 200 °C, superficial air velocities of 2.2- 4 m/s, bed depths of 4 - 12 cm, fraction of air recycled of 0.5 -0.9 and initial moisture content of corn of 43 % dry-basis. The Wang and Sing equation could describe in accordance with the results. Inlet hot air temperature and specific air flow rate were independent variables for drying constant model in the Wang and Singh equation.  相似文献

The objective of this work is to study systematically how to decrease corn moisture content using processes consisting of fluidized bed drying, tempering and ambient air ventilation. Effects of drying, tempering and ventilation on moisture reduction and quality of dried corn in terms of stress crack, breakage and color are experimentally investigated. Experimental results show that stress crack depends on final moisture content of com. Tempering is found useful for increasing the quality of dried com after fluidized bed drying. The optimum tempering time is 40 minutes. Among the ambient air velocity ranging from 0.075 to 0.375 m/s, the appropriate velocity is 0.15 m/s. Final moisture content of com after ambient air ventilation is about 13.0 - 14.5 %(w.b.) with breakage and stress crack lower than 2% and 5% by wt., respectively. Slight change of color of dried corn is observed.  相似文献

Drying characteristics of shelled corn (Zea mays L) with an initial moisture content of 26% dry basis (db) was studied in a fluidized bed dryer assisted by microwave heating. Four air temperatures (30, 40, 50 and 60 °C) and five microwave powers (180, 360, 540, 720 and 900 W) were studied. Several experiments were conducted to obtain data for sample moisture content versus drying time. The results showed that increasing the drying air temperature resulted in up to 5% decrease in drying time while in the microwave-assisted fluidized bed system, the drying time decreased dramatically up to 50% at a given and corresponding drying air temperature at each microwave energy level. As a result, addition of microwave energy to the fluidized bed drying is recommended to enhance the drying rate of shelled corn. Furthermore, in the present study, the application of Artificial Neural Network (ANN) for predicting the drying time (output parameter for ANN modeling) was investigated. Microwave power, drying air temperature and grain moisture content were considered as input parameters for the model. An ANN model with 170 neurons was selected for studying the influence of transfer functions and training algorithms. The results revealed that a network with the Tansig (hyperbolic tangent sigmoid) transfer function and trainrp (Resilient back propagation) back propagation algorithm made the most accurate predictions for the shelled corn drying system. The effects of uncertainties in output experimental data and ANN prediction values on root mean square error (RMSE) were studied by introducing small random errors within a range of ±5%.  相似文献

A convection wen drying technique was used to develop a modified method for moisture content determination in corn and soybeans. Samples of corn and soybeans in the moisture ranges of 10-27% w.b. and 9-23% w.b.. respectively. were exposed to different temperatures for varying periods of time in a forced air convection wen. A correlation was developed beheen the reference moisture content of the samples of corn and soybeans and the moisrure content after a drying time of one hour. The predicted results were in close agreement with the standard air oven test results in the range of moisture contents studied.  相似文献

为提高空气重介质流化床对入料煤水分的适应性,以热气代替常温空气改善流化床对褐煤的分选效果。采用可能偏差Ep为评价指标,研究了热态空气重介质流化床的干燥温度、干燥时间和风量对褐煤分选效果的影响。结果表明:干燥温度为30~50℃时,干燥温度越高,Ep越低;干燥时间为1~5 min时,干燥时间越长,Ep越低,超过3 min后,Ep降低缓慢;风量为8~12 m3/h时,风量增大,Ep先降低后升高。煤样表面水分越高,干燥温度、干燥时间和风量变化对Ep影响越显著。表面水分1%的褐煤,干燥温度50℃、干燥时间5 min、风量10 m3/h时,褐煤分选效果最好,Ep可达到0.022g/cm3。实验证明热态空气重介质流化床可用于分选潮湿褐煤。  相似文献

V-type amylose–lipid complexes present in partially parboiled rice can decrease starch digestibility. Formation of such complexes can be accomplished using high-temperature fluidized bed drying; the degree of the complexes depends on the thermal condition. The effects of drying media (hot air and humidified hot air), operating conditions (drying air temperature and relative humidity [RH]), and the initial moisture content on the degree of V-type crystallinity and subsequent starch digestibility (or glycemic index, GI) and brown rice texture were examined experimentally. The results showed that paddy drying with humidified hot air (HHA) requires a longer time than hot air (HA). Higher drying air temperature, RH, and initial moisture content of paddy yield higher degrees of starch gelatinization and V-type amylose–lipid complexes. The brown rice dried by HA or HHA had lower starch digestibility and a harder texture than the reference sample. Within the range of parameters studied, to obtain the lowest GI for the dried brown rice, paddy at an initial moisture content of 33% (db) should be dried by HHA at 150°C and 6.4% RH.  相似文献

为了探讨茭白干燥的传递特性,在对流热风干燥实验装置中进行了茭白片薄层干燥实验,研究了干燥温度、片的厚度对干燥过程的影响,将试验的水分比与数学模型进行了拟合,计算了不同温度下的水分扩散系数,并关联了其与干燥温度的关系.结果表明:干燥温度对干燥过程影响显著,薄片有利于水分扩散:用Page模型来描述茭白片热风干燥动力学令人满意;茭白片厚度为0.003m时,随风温升高,水分扩散系数从3.440×10-9 m2·s-1增大到6.357×10-9m2·s-1,并符合阿累尼乌斯方程,活化能为27.86 kj·mol-1.相同温度下,物料中水分的扩散系数基本不受厚度影响.  相似文献

The influence of microwave power (0 to 8.0 W/g, dry basis) and hot air temperature (25°C to 95 °C) on drying rate and product temperature of diced apples (from 31 % to 5% moisture content, dry basis) in a laboratory microwave and spouted-bed combined dryer was investigated. Product temperature initially increased sharply to a plateau about 12 to 15°C above the spouted bed air temperature at a microwave input power 6.4 W/g. This temperature remained almost constant thereafter. Uniform microwave heating was achieved as evidenced by uniform product color and product temperature. Drying rates increased with increasing spouted-bed air temperature or microwave power level, But higher microwave power caused more darkening of the product. Drying of the diced apples in the microwave and spouted bed drying system exhibited two falling rates periods. The influence of air temperature on effective moisture diffusivity followed an Arrhenius type equation. The activation energies were 23.7 kJ/mol and 26.7 kJ/mol for the first and second falling rate periods, respectively.  相似文献

Equilibrium moisture content isotherms for Spanish hazelnut (Corylus avellana L.) at different temperatures (30°C-80°C) were determined using static gravimetric method. Thin layer drying experiments were done with forced air circulation and were conducted with different operating conditions to determine the drying characteristics of hazelnuts. The effect of air temperature (30°C-70°C), air velocity (0.5 m/s - 2 m/s) and drying bed loading density (50 kg/m2 - 150 kg/m2) on drying of unshelled and shelled hazelnuts was studied. Six mathematical models were used to fit the experimental equilibrium moisture content data, from which the G.A.B. model was found to give the best fit. Diffusion coefficients were determined by fitting experimental thin-layer drying curves to the Fick's diffusion model. Variation of the effective diffusion coefficient with temperature was of the Arrhenius type. The Page equation was found to describe adequately the thin layer drying of hazelnut. Page equation drying parameters k and n were correlated with air temperature and relative humidity.  相似文献

Drying and tempering models for paddy drying by a fluidised bed technique have been developed to describe the moisture movement inside a single paddy kernel. The grain shape was considered as a finite cylinder. The internal diffusion is an important contribution to control the drying rate of paddy. The dependence of effective diffusion coefficient on drying temperature can be adequately explained based on Arrhenius form. The parameters of this equation were evaluated in the range of temperatures between 110°C and 170°C by using the regression analysis with 189 experimental drying data. As compared with no tempering, the faster drying rate can be obtained by tempering treatment between drying stages. The effect of degrees of tempering on determining the moisture reduction in the second stage has also been explored. According to the simulation results, a prediction equation of the required tempering time for the tempering index of 0.95 has been established in which the drying air temperature, initial moisture content and drying time are taken into account. The tempering time for 35 min is recommended for the continuous fluidised bed dryers being operated in rice mills.  相似文献

The objective of this study is to estimate the drying characteristics of a relatively large material immersed in a fluidized bed under reduced pressure by measuring the constant drying rate. The constant drying-rate period in a fluidized bed under reduced pressure is difficult to measure because it is extremely short. To maintain the constant drying-rate period, distilled water is directly supplied to the drying material. Through our experiment, the heat transfer coefficient of the material surface was also determined. The results were compared with data on hot air drying. The constant drying rate is higher for fluidized bed drying than for hot air drying. It suggests that the heat transfer coefficient on the surface of the drying material is much larger for fluidized bed drying than for hot air drying. For fluidized bed drying, the effect of pressure in the drying chamber on the heat transfer coefficient is slight at the same normalized mass velocity of dry air (G/Gmf). The temperature difference between the inside of the drying chamber and the drying material is much smaller for fluidized bed drying than for hot air drying. The constant drying rate increases as the pressure in the drying chamber decreases.  相似文献

The paper presents new data for thin-layer drying characteristics of Thai long grain rough rice measured under various conditions of drying air temperature (35 to 60 °C), drying air relative humidity (30 to 70 % ) and the initial moisture content of rough rice (20 to 40 % dry basis). Empirical equations were developed using the instantaneous weight, the weight loss and drying time, with temperature, relative humidity and initial moisture content of rough rice as the independent variables. A computer program was developed to simulate the deep-bed drying process. The thin-layer drying equation developed before was used in the computer simulation. Drying of water treatment process sludge in a fluidized bed dryer   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
The drying characteristics of water treatment process (WTP) sludge were investigated with a fluidized bed. The equilibrium moisture ratio of WTP sludge increased with relative humidity and decreased with temperature of drying air. However, equilibrium moisture ratio of WTP sludge was more sensitively dependent on relative humidity than temperature of drying air. When the sludge was dried in a batch fluidized bed, the drying rate of sludge decreased as the moisture ratio of sludge in the bed decreased. The periods of constant drying rates were apparently not observed on the drying rate curves. In addition, the maximum drying rates were increased with bed temperature and superficial air velocity. As the fluidized bed was operated continuously, the degree of drying of WTP sludge increased with bed temperature but was weakly dependent on superficial air velocity. However, the drying efficiency was decreased with bed temperature and relatively insensitive to superficial air velocity and increased with feed rate of sludge.  相似文献
