Pressure dependence of various phase transitions for the miscible block copolymer (BCP) blends was evaluated by depolarized light scattering (DPLS) and small-angle neutron scattering (SANS) measurements, in which the blends consist of a polystyrene-b-poly(n-butyl methacrylate) (PS-b-PnBMA) and a deuterated polystyrene-b-poly(n-hexyl methacrylate) (dPS-b-PnHMA). Excellent baroplasticity was observed in nearly symmetric blends of PS-b-PnBMA/dPS-b-PnHMA, leading to the most outstanding pressure coefficients, |dT/dP|, in a closed-loop type phase behavior between a lower disorder-to-order transition (LDOT) and an order-to-disorder transition (ODT) type phase behavior. Together with the estimated pressure coefficients based on the values of enthalpic and volumetric changes at phase transitions, we demonstrate that the entropic compressibility for the miscible BCP blends is a baroplastic indicator, which was characterized by the negative volume change on mixing (ΔVmix) at transitions.  相似文献

Synthesis of Amphiphilic Diblock Copolymers by DPE Method   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Amphiphilic diblock copolymers, poly(methyl methacrylate)-b-poly(acrylic acid) (PMMA-b-PAA) and polystyrene-b-poly(acrylic acid) (PS-b-PAA), were prepared by 1,1-diphenylethene (DPE) method under mild conditions. Firstly, free radical polymerization of tert-butyl acrylate (tBA) was carried out with AIBN as initiator in the presence of DPE, giving a DPE-containing precursor, PtBA, with controlled molecular weight. Secondly, methyl methacrylate and styrene were polymerized in the presence of PtBA precursor, and PS-b-PtBA and PMMA-b-PtBA diblock copolymers with controlled molecular weights were obtained respectively. Finally, amphiphilic diblock copolymers, PMMA-b-PAA and PS-b-PAA, were prepared by hydrolysis of PS-b-PtBA and PMMA-b-PtBA. The formation of PS-b-PAA and PMMA-b-PAA was confirmed by 1H NMR. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and dynamic light scattering (DLS) were used to detect the self-assembly behavior of the amphiphilic diblock polymers in tetrahydrofuran (THF).  相似文献

Reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization of styrene using bisallyl trithiocarbonate as a chain transfer agent (CTA) was studied. The polymerization exhibited first-order kinetics and the molecular weight increased linearly with increase of monomer conversion. Well defined allyl-functionalized telechelic polystyrene (PS), poly(tert-butyl acrylate) (PtBA) and corresponding triblock copolymers, polystyrene-b-poly(n-butyl acrylate)-b-polystyrene (PS-b-PnBA-b-PS) and poly(tert-butyl acrylate)-b-polystyrene-b-poly(tert-butyl acrylate) (PtBA-b-PS-b-PtBA) were prepared as characterized with GPC and NMR analysis. The allyl-end groups of the telechelic PS have been switched to 1,2-dibromopropyl groups quantitatively by bromine addition reaction, further substitution of the bromide with azide was also made. Furthermore, star PS with allyl-end-functionalized arms was synthesized by RAFT polymerization of divinyl benzene using allyl-functionalized PS as a macro-CTA via arm-first approach. Star polymer with a thiol-functionalized core was generated by aminolysis reaction of the star polymer and ethylenediamine. As a result, difunctionalized star polymer with allyl and thiol groups was obtained and was used as a stabilizer for the formation of gold nanoparticles.  相似文献

The convenient synthesis of methoxy-free 1,1-diphenylethylene end-functionalized polyisobutylene (PIB-DPE) has been accomplished by capping living PIB with 1,4-bis(1-phenylethenyl)benzene, followed by hydride transfer reaction with tributylsilane. The proposed method eliminates the need for methylation of the capped living PIB in which large excess of dimethylzinc must be used, resulting in a large amount of inorganic salt contamination. The obtained PIB-DPE was quantitatively lithiated with 1.5-fold excess n-butyllithium in tetrahydrofuran (THF) at room temperature. The methine proton at the chain end remained intact during the lithiation procedure. The resulting macroanion efficiently initiated the polymerization of alkyl methacrylates. Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA)-b-PIB-b-PMMA, poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (PHEMA)-b-PIB-b-PHEMA and poly(tert-butyl methacrylate) (PtBMA)-b-PIB-b-PtBMA have been prepared with high blocking efficiency by the proposed methodology. Complete hydrolysis of PtBMA-b-PIB-b-PtBMA into poly(methacrylic acid) (PMAA)-b-PIB-b-PMAA was realized in THF/1,4-dioxane, as confirmed by FTIR, 1H NMR, and DSC analyses.  相似文献

A series of amphiphilic triblock copolymers poly(ethylene glycol)-block-poly(acrylic acid)-block-poly(n-butyl acrylate) (PEG-b-PAA-b-PnBA) differing only in the relative block lengths were synthesized by the acid-catalyzed elimination of the tert-butyl groups from poly(ethylene glycol)-block-poly(tert-butyl acrylate)-block-poly(n-butyl acrylate) (PEG-b-PtBA-b-PnBA), which was synthesized by atom-transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). The degree of polymerization, molecular weight and percentage of hydrolysis of the product PEG-b-PAA-b-PnBA were studied by gel permeation chromatography (GPC), NMR and matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectroscopy (MALDI-TOF-MS). Dynamic light scattering (DLS) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were used to study the aggregation states of copolymers in water solution. The radii of the copolymer micelles shrink as Ca2+ is introduced into the solutions. The crystallization behaviors of calcium carbonate controlled by copolymer 1 (PEG112-b-PAA86-b-PnBA60) and copolymer 2 (PEG112-b-PAA40-b-PnBA72) differing mainly in the length of PAA block were systematically studied. It was found that the crystallization products are composed of calcite and vaterite, and the ratio of vaterite to calcite increases with increasing the concentration of copolymer 1. For copolymer 2, however, only calcite is obtained at all the concentration range investigated in this work.  相似文献

Poly(tert-butyl acrylate) (PtBA) was grafted to the surface of poly(ethylene-co-acrylic acid) (EAA) film and the pendant groups of the tethered PtBA were modified to create chemically tailored surface modifying layers. The carboxylic acid groups in the copolymer film served as the grafting sites for the covalent tethering of end-functionalized PtBA. The progression of these reactions was monitored using attenuated total reflectance (ATR)-FTIR and X-ray photoelectron (XPS) spectroscopies along with static contact angle measurements. By controlling the reaction conditions, the chemical functionality of the grafted layer ranged from tert-butyl ester (EAA-g-PtBA) to carboxylic acid (EAA-g-PAA) and was demonstrated by corresponding changes in wettability. The choice of PtBA as the tethered polymer allows for the subsequent substitution of the tert-butyl ester groups. To demonstrate, a novel procedure was used to replace the tert-butyl ester with N,N-dimethylethylenediamine (DMEDA) to form EAA-g-PDMEDA. These reaction schemes can be used to create tunable surface-grafted layers with various pendant group chemistries.  相似文献

In this work, a series of amphiphilic diblock copolymers bearing strong push-pull type azo chromophores was synthesized through post-polymerization azo-coupling reaction scheme. The copolymers (P(CNAZOm-b-MAAn)), composed of 2-(N-ethyl-N-(4-(4′-cyanophenylazo)-phenyl)amino)ethyl methacrylate (CNAZO) and methacrylic acid (MAA) blocks, were obtained through four-step reactions. Firstly, precursor diblock copolymers (P(EMAm-b-tBMAn)) were obtained through sequential two-stage ATRP reactions of 2-(N-ethyl-N-phenylamino)ethyl methacrylate (EMA) and tert-butyl methacrylate (tBMA). Then, 4-amino-4′-cyanoazobenzene chromophores were introduced by azo-coupling reaction of P(EMAm-b-tBMAn) with diazonium salt of 4-aminobenzonitrile. Finally, P(CNAZOm-b-MAAn) was obtained through selective hydrolysis of the tert-butyl ester linkages in the tBMA blocks. Three block copolymers with the same CNAZO block length (m = 100) and different MAA block lengths (n = 5, 13, 23) were prepared by this method. The polymer and copolymers prepared in the process were characterized by GPC, 1H NMR, UV-vis, DSC and TGA measurements. Results show that P(CNAZOm-b-MAAn) forms spherical micellar aggregates by gradually increasing the water content in THF/H2O mixtures. The diameters of the spherical aggregates are related to the composition of the block copolymers and the water-adding rate. The block copolymer with larger molecular weight of the hydrophilic MAA block forms the aggregates with the smaller average size. The increase of the water-adding rate also shows an effect to reduce the diameters. Upon irradiation with a linearly polarized Ar+ laser beam, the spherical aggregates can be elongated in the light polarization direction. The deformation degree shows an almost linear dependence on the light irradiation time in the testing period. The deformed aggregates can recover the original spherical shape after thermal annealing at a temperature above Tg of the block copolymer.  相似文献

A series of well-defined double hydrophilic graft copolymers, poly(acrylic acid)-g-poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PAA-g-PNIPAM), was employed as a novel water-soluble coating for constructing superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles. The copolymer was synthesized via a three-step procedure: firstly, a well-defined hydrophobic PtBA-based backbone, poly(tert-butyl 2-((2-chloropropanoyloxy)-methyl)acrylate)-co-poly(tert-butyl acrylate), (PtBCPMA19-co-PtBA18), was prepared through RAFT copolymerization of a new trifunctional acrylic monomer, tert-butyl 2-((2-chloropropanoyloxy)methyl)acrylate and tert-butyl acrylate; secondly, taking this backbone as a macroinitiator to initiate SET-LRP of N-isopropylacrylamide resulted in well-defined (poly(tert-butyl 2-((2-chloropropanoyloxy)methyl)-acrylate)-co-poly(tert-butyl acrylate))-g-poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) ((PtBCPMA-co-PtBA)-g-PNIPAM) amphiphilic graft copolymers with relatively narrow polydispersities (Mw/Mn ≤ 1.31); thirdly, handling (PtBCPMA-co-PtBA)-g-PNIPAM in acidic conditions afforded PAA-g-PNIPAM graft copolymers. The resulting PAA-g-PNIPAM copolymers were directly utilized as a polymeric stabilizer in the preparation of superparamagnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles. The particle size can be readily tuned in the range of 12.1–23.2 nm by varying the amount of PAA-g-PNIPAM copolymer or the length of PNIPAM side chain. Besides, the structure and properties of prepared Fe3O4/polymer nanocomposites were characterized by XRD, FT-IR, TGA, TEM, and magnetic measurement in detail.  相似文献

We report on the synthesis and characterization of triblock terpolymers, polybutadiene-block-poly(2-vinyl pyridine)-block-poly(tert-butyl methacrylate) (PB-b-P2VP-b-PtBMA; BVT), via sequential living anionic polymerization in THF at low temperatures using sec-butyl lithium as initiator. In this work, 18 different BVT terpolymers were produced with volume fractions ΦB : ΦV : ΦT in the range of 1 : 0.4…1.2 : 0.2…4.6. All polymers exhibit a very narrow molecular weight distribution (PDI < 1.1). They were characterized in terms of bulk morphology using small-angle X-ray scattering and transmission electron microscopy, unveiling mostly lamellar patterns or hexagonally arranged cylindrical structures. Some polymers displayed a partial gyroid structure coexisting with lamellar parts or cylinders with a non-continuous shell around the PB core and could serve as an interesting template for the facile generation of multi-compartmental self-assembled structures. In one case the middle block, P2VP, is forming a helix around the PB core. Crosslinking of the polybutadiene compartment of the bulk morphologies with an UV-photoinitiator was performed, followed by sonication-assisted dissolution of the aggregates to elucidate further use of the terpolymers for the generation of soft polymeric nanoparticles with controlled functionality. In that way, core-crosslinked cylindrical micelles could be generated and characterized.  相似文献

ATRP of several methacrylates viz. methyl methacrylate (MMA), ethyl methacrylate (EMA), n-butyl methacrylate (nBMA), t-butyl methacrylate (tBMA), benzyl methacrylate (BzMA) and (N,N-dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate (DMAEMA) has been studied in neat as well as aqueous (up to 12 vol% water) acetone at 35 °C using CuCl/bipyridine (bpy) catalyst and ethyl 2-bromoisobutyrate as the initiator. Addition of water significantly enhances the rate of polymerization without losing control. Unlike CuCl/bpy the CuBr/bpy catalyst gives poor control which is attributed to the lower solubility and consequent heterogeneity in the latter case. Of the other ligands used with the CuCl catalyst viz. o-phenanthroline (o-phen), 1,1,4,7,7-pentamethyldiethylenetriamine (PMDETA), 1,1,4,7,10,10-hexamethyltriethylenetetramine (HMTETA), Me6TREN only o-phen offers reasonably good control. The CuCl/bpy catalyst system has been used also in preparing some di- and tri-block copolymers with reasonably low polydispersity index (PDI) at ambient temperature (35 °C) using aqueous acetone as the solvent. The following block copolymers have been prepared PMMA-tBMA, PMMA-b-tBMA-b-MMA, PMMA-DMAEMA, by this method.  相似文献

The synthesis of amphiphilic diblock copolypeptides consisting of poly(α-l-glutamic acid) (PLGA) and poly(γ-methyl-l-glutamate-ran-γ-stearyl-l-glutamate) with 30 mol % of stearyl substituents (PMLGSLG) and their monolayer behavior at the air-water interface have been studied. PLGA-b-PMLGSLG was synthesized via a diblock copolymer precursor consisting of poly(γ-tert-butyl-l-glutamate) (PtBuLG) and PMLGSLG blocks, with the tert-butyl group as a mild acid-labile protecting group for the carboxylic acid. The polymerization conditions were found to influence the α-helix to β-sheet content ratio and can be tuned to significantly enhance the diblock copolypeptide helicity. Purely α-helical PtBuLG-b-PMLGSLG diblock copolymers were successfully prepared. After removal of the tert-butyl group, the study of the PLGA-b-PMLGSLG amphiphilic diblock copolymers in Langmuir monolayers and Langmuir-Blodgett films demonstrated the formation of a stable α-helical double-brush structure, with the helices tilted away from the substrate surface. These double-brush monolayers combine the unique properties arising from the unidirectionally aligned helix macrodipole and the liquid-like features of the side chain mantle of the PMLGSLG block. Such systems are promising for thin film applications requiring incorporation and orientation of bio- and optical molecules.  相似文献

Amphiphilic block copolymers have been investigated for their utilization in emulsion polymerization of butyl methacrylate. Special attention has been paid to the adsorption mechanism of the block copolymers from systematic measurements of equilibrium adsorption isotherms. A series of well-defined water-soluble amphiphilic block copolymers, composed of poly(butyl methacrylate) and poly(sodium methacrylate) blocks, were synthesized by anionic polymerization of butyl methacrylate and tert-butyl methacrylate followed by the thermal deprotection of the tert-butyl ester groups and final hydrolysis. The number density of emulsion polymer particles NP varied as [copolymer]α, α lying between 0.44 and 0.73 according to the hydrophilic content of the copolymers. In contrast with SDS taken as a reference emulsifier, the adsorption of the copolymers was very strong and this provided quite an efficient stabilization of the polymer particles during emulsion polymerization, even at low concentrations (<10−4 mol L−1) and low coverages (<10% of the interfacial area).  相似文献

The morphology of a synthesized poly[(tert-butyl acrylate)-b-styrene-b-isobutylene-b-styrene-(tert-butyl acrylate)] pentablock terpolymer was determined using transmission electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy and small angle X-ray scattering methods. The outer blocks of this material were converted to the acrylic acid form by a thermal process that caused a beta-scission reaction in a simple thermal process, as verified by FTIR and NMR spectroscopies as well as thermogravimetric analysis. An initial heat-vacuum treatment induced a morphology that was more disordered relative to the precursor material, but when these samples were recast in THF solvent and annealed again, a considerably more refined and ordered morphology consisting of hexagonally packed cylinders resulted. This simple heat treatment allows for the tert-butyl groups to be converted to acrylic acid groups without dissolving the polymer or further sample cleaning. A dynamic mechanical investigation of the PtBuA form revealed three or two relaxation features depending interpretations based on the presence of three-phase morphology or a two-phase morphology in which there are mixed hard block domains.  相似文献

We demonstrate a facile route to decorate the surface of networked single walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) with silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs). The method is based on utilization of either spherical poly(styrene-b-4vinylpyridine) (PS-b-P4VP) or cylindrical poly(styrene-b-acrylic acid) (PS-b-PAA) copolymer micelles capable of stabilizing nanotubes in solution and subsequently forming a thin and uniform block copolymer/SWNTs composite film upon spin coating. The selective doping of silver acetate into either P4VP or PAA domains in a thin composite film, followed by thermal treatment, results in the formation of Ag NPs in the cores of micelles. Further heat treatment at 500 °C sufficiently high for degrading both block copolymers allows us to fabricate a thin SWNTs network in which Ag NPs are efficiently deposited on the surface of nanotubes. A sharp surface plasmon absorption band around 400 nm of the networked SWNTs with Ag NPs confirms the presence of Ag NPs with narrow distribution in their size.  相似文献

Amphiphilic ethyl cellulose (EC)-g-poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) copolymers were synthesized by atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). Firstly, ethyl cellulose macro-initiators with the degree of the 2-bromoisobutyryl substitution of 0.04 and 0.25 synthesized by the esterification of the hydroxyl groups remained in EC macromolecular chains and the 2-bromoisobutyryl bromides. Secondly, tert-butyl acrylate was polymerized by ATRP with the ethyl cellulose macro-initiator and EC-g-PtBA copolymers were prepared. Finally, the EC-g-PAA copolymers were prepared by hydrolyzing tert-butyl group of the EC-g-PtBA copolymers. The grafting copolymers were characterized by means of GPC, 1H NMR and FTIR spectroscopies. The molecular weight of graft copolymers increased during the polymerization and the polydispersity was low. A kinetic study showed that the polymerization was first-order. Meanwhile, EC-g-PAA copolymers were self-assembled to micelles or particles with diameters of 5 nm and 100 nm in water (pH = 10) when the concentration was 1.0 mg/ml.  相似文献

Amphiphilic poly(acrylic acid-b-styrene-b-isobutylene-b-styrene-b-acrylic acid) (PAA-PS-PIB-PS-PAA) block copolymers were prepared using a combination of quasiliving carbocationic and atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) techniques. Poly(styrene-b-isobutylene-b-styrene) (PS-PIB-PS) block copolymer macroinitiators with targeted molecular weights and high degrees of chain end functionality (Fn>1.7) were prepared by quasiliving carbocationic polymerization of isobutylene followed by sequential addition of styrene. Poly(tert-butyl acrylate-b-styrene-b-isobutylene-b-styrene-b-tert-butyl acrylate) (PtBA-PS-PIB-PS-PtBA) pentablock terpolymers with targeted molecular weights and low polydispersities (PDIs) were synthesized from the PS-PIB-PS macroinitiators via ATRP of tBA using either a Cu(I)Cl/1,1,4,7,7-pentamethyldiethylenetriamine (PMDETA) or Cu(I)Cl/tris[2-(dimethylamino)ethyl]amine (Me6TREN) catalyst system. Deprotection of the tert-butyl groups using trifluoroacetic acid at 25 °C resulted in the formation of PAA-PS-PIB-PS-PAA pentablock terpolymers. Comonomer composition of the final terpolymers, determined by 1H-NMR spectroscopy, was very close to theoretical.  相似文献

Diblock copolymers of methyl methacrylate (MMA) with 2-ethylhexyl, butyl, ethyl or tert-butyl acrylate (EtHA, BuA, EtA, t-BuA) have been prepared by the ligated anionic polymerization initiated with methyl 2-lithioisobutyrate (MIB-Li) in the presence of an excess of Li tert-butoxide (t-BuOLi) in toluene/THF mixture at −60 or −78 °C. The copolymers, prepared at −60 °C, show MWD with a hint of bimodality, indicating partial deactivation of the living PMMA upon addition of acrylic monomer. At −78 °C, the extent of this deactivation is distinctly lower, the formed block copolymers, in particular, poly(MMA-b-EtHA), have unimodal MWD and exhibit tails only in the lower-molecular-weight region. Poly(MMA-b-EtHA)s were extracted with acetonitrile dissolving PMMA; very small parts of the crude products dissolved, whereas prevailing parts remained as solids documenting thus formation of block copolymer in a high yield. Surprisingly, the highest amount of self terminated PMMA was found in block copolymerization of MMA with t-BuA at both the temperatures, the products of which had clearly bimodal MWDs. This finding is shortly discussed on the basis of relatively slow propagation of t-BuA in comparison with EtHA, BuA and EtA.  相似文献

Bidirectional alkoxyamine 2 was synthesized and used as the initiator in the polymerization of styrene (S), n-butyl acrylate (nBA), t-butyl acrylate (tBA), isoprene (I), and dimethylacrylamide (DMA). A variety of symmetrical ABA triblock copolymers were prepared, ranging in size from 5 to 59 kDa. Kinetics studies and gel permeation chromatography (GPC) confirmed the “living” nature of these polymerizations. Trifluoroacetic acid was used to convert the PtBA blocks of these polymers into poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) blocks, forming ABA amphiphilic triblock copolymers. AFM images of PAA-b-PnBA-b-PAA and PAA-b-PS-b-PAA triblock copolymers ionized by the addition of 2,2′-(ethylenedioxy)bis(ethylamine) show evidence of self-assembly.  相似文献

The polymerization by ATRP of hydroxy and amino functional acrylates and methacrylates with tert-butyldimethylsilyl (TBDMS) or tert-butyloxycarbonyl (BOC) protective groups has been studied for the first time achieving high control over molecular weight and polydispersity. Detailed investigation of the ATRP of 2-{[tert-butyl(dimethyl)silyl]oxy}ethyl acrylate (M2b) in bulk and 2-[(tert-butoxycarbonyl)amino]ethyl 2-methylacrylate (M3a) in diphenyl ether (DPE) showed that the type of ligand plays an important role on either the polymerization rate or the degree of control of the polymerization. Among the ligands used, N,N,N,′NN″-pentamethyl diethylenetriamine (PMDETA) was the most suitable ligand for ATRP of all functional acrylates and methacrylates. The kinetics of M2b and M3a polymerization using PMDETA as a ligand was reported and proved the living character of the polymerization. Well-defined block copolymers based on a halogen terminated polystyrene (Pst) macroinitiator and the functional acrylate and methacrylate monomers were successfully synthesized by ATRP, and subsequent deprotection of the protective groups from the acrylate or methacrylate segment afforded amphiphilic block copolymers with a specific solubility behavior.  相似文献

Core-shell cylindrical polymer brushes with poly(t-butyl acrylate)-b-poly(n-butyl acrylate) (PtBA-b-PnBA) diblock copolymer side chains were synthesized via ‘grafting from’ technique using atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). The formation of well-defined brushes was confirmed by GPC and 1H NMR. Multi-angle light scattering (MALS) measurements on brushes with 240 arms show that the radius of gyration scales with the degree of polymerization of the side chains with an exponent of 0.57±0.05. The hydrolysis of the PtBA block of the side chains resulted amphiphilic cylindrical core-shell nanoparticles. In order to obtain a narrow length distribution of the brushes, the backbone, poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate), was synthesized by anionic polymerization in addition to ATRP. The characteristic core-shell cylindrical structure of the brush was directly visualized on mica by scanning force microscopy (SFM). Brushes with 1500 block copolymer side chains and a length distribution of lw/ln=1.04 at a total length ln=179 nm were obtained. By choosing the proper solvent in the dip-coating process on mica, the core and the shell can be visualized independently by SFM.  相似文献
