Kinetics and selectivity of supercritical carbon dioxide (SC CO2) extraction of Helichrysum italicum flowers were analyzed at pressures in the range of 10-20 MPa and temperatures of 40 °C and 60 °C (density of SC CO2 from 290 to 841 kg/m3) and also at 10 MPa and 40 °C using flowers with different moisture contents (10.5% and 28.4%). Increased moisture content of H. italicum flowers resulted in enchased solubility of solute enabling decrease of SC CO2 consumption necessary for achieving desired extraction yield. The most abundant compounds in the supercritical extracts are sesquiterpenes and waxes while monoterpenes and sesquiterpenes are the main constituents of essential oil obtained by hydrodistillation. The optimal set of working parameters with respect to extraction yield, SC CO2 consumption and chemical composition of extract were defined related to moisture content of raw material and SC CO2 density.  相似文献

The goal of present work was to investigate and explain kinetics and mass transfer phenomena occurring during the SFE from the mixture of two plants with different initial composition. The extractions from pure clove, oregano and thyme as well as from clove/oregano (C/O) and clove/thyme (C/T) mixtures with various initial compositions of plant material were carried out using supercritical CO2 at 10 MPa and 40 °C. The results indicated that presence of light compounds in supercritical CO2 originated from the oregano leaves or thyme at the beginning of extraction process increases the extraction rate of compounds from clove bud. Only small added amounts of oregano or thyme to clove bud (C/O - 90:10%, w/w; or C/T - 84:16%, w/w) in the starting plant mixture had the same effect resulted in the similar and the highest increase of the extraction rate and had negligible influence on total extraction yield compared to extract isolated from pure clove. Different mathematical models were used for simulation of experimental data which showed that the highest increase of the solubility of extractable compounds in supercritical CO2 as well as the highest mass transfer rate in the solid phase during extractions existed during extraction from C/O (90:10, w/w) and C/T (84:16, w/w) mixtures. Decrease of SC CO2 consumption or shorter time of extraction necessary for achieving desired extract yield in the case of SFE of the clove buds could be important for industrial-scale application.  相似文献

The objective of the work was to optimize the extraction of Persea indica L. bioactive compounds by means of supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) and analyze their insecticidal effects. P. indica L. is one of the dominant species of the Canarian laurel forest, a relict of the Tertiary flora. Different extraction conditions (pressure, plant material particle size, temperature, CO2 flow) and the influence of entrainer were tested and the evolution of the extracted compounds was screened by HPLC-MS. A comparison with conventional techniques such as hydrodistillation (HD) or organic solvent extraction (OSE) was also presented. Particularly, four CO2 densities ranging from 628.61 kg/m3 to 839.81 kg/m3 were studied in the range of 10.0-20.0 MPa and 40-50 °C. The extracts contained insecticidal ryanodanes of great interest, previously described as insecticidal components of P. indica. The insecticidal antifeedant activity of selected extracts was inspected. A model based on mass transfer equations, the Sovová model, was successfully applied to correlate the experimental data.  相似文献

In this work we designed and built a homemade supercritical fluid extraction (HM-SFE) system, in which pure CO2 and CO2 with co-solvents were used. The HM-SFE was made by means of thermal dilatation-contraction (TDC). This HM-SFE system was used for obtaining guava (Psidium guajava L.) seed oil, using supercritical CO2 adding ethanol as co-solvent (CO2 SC/EtOH), extractions were performed at 313 K and different pressures (10, 20 and 30 MPa), each one in four stages of 30 min, the extract with higher yield was subjected to transesterification and high-resolution gas chromatography (HRGC) analysis. The highest extraction yield was obtained at 30 MPa (17.30% w/w), this yield was higher than one observed in a previous work using SC-CO2, and near to the one obtained by Soxhlet extraction (20.2% w/w). HRGC enabled the identification of components of the derivatized extract as methyl esters of palmitic, oleic, linoleic, and stearic fatty acids. The results obtained with HM-SFE system was compared with a commercial SFE system, obtained very similar results. In this work was possible to construct a low cost and simple manner HM-SFE system which was employed for obtaining guava seed oil, using CO2 SC/EtOH.  相似文献

The objective of the work was to optimize the extraction of wormwood oil by supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) of growth-controlled plant material. Different extraction conditions, two growth techniques and various crops were tested and the evolution of the extracted oil composition was screened chromatographically. A comparison with conventional techniques such as hydrodistillation (HD) or organic solvent extraction (OSE) was also presented. Particularly, six CO2 densities ranging from 285.0 kg/m3 to 819.5 kg/m3 were studied in the range of 9.0-18.0 MPa and 40-50 °C. A systematic study was carried out with plant material from 2005, while SFE of 2006, 2008 and aeroponically grown crops was performed for comparative purposes. The effect of ethanol as a modifier of the supercritical fluid extraction was also studied. The major compounds found in the SFE extracts as well as in the HD essential oils were Z-epoxyocimene, chrysanthenol and chrysanthenyl acetate. A model based on mass transfer equations, the Sovová model, was successfully applied to correlate the experimental data.  相似文献

The possibility of using the leaves of Cordia verbenacea as a new source of natural antioxidant compounds was investigated. In the present work, extracts from C. verbenacea were obtained using different extraction methods: supercritical fluid extraction (SFE), Soxhlet (SE), hydrodistillation and maceration, with the objective to evaluate the methods in terms of yield and antioxidant potential. The high-pressure technique was applied using pure CO2 and CO2 with co-solvent at different temperatures and pressures (30, 40 and 50 °C and 100, 200, and 300 bar). Organic solvents with different polarities were used to obtain extracts by low-pressure extraction processes. The extracts were evaluated according to their antioxidant activity using total phenolic content, scavenging abilities on DPPH radical, total antioxidant activities (ABTS•+), superoxide anion radical-scavenging (O2) and protection against lipid peroxidation in vitro (LPO). Ethyl acetate fraction obtained by maceration and extract isolated by SE using 25% aqueous mixture of ethanol possessed the highest scavenger activity against DPPH radical (IC50 = 9.2 ± 0.4 μg/ml, IC50 = 27.4 ± 0.1 μg/ml, respectively). The SFE with 8% ethanol as a co-solvent produced extracts with distinguished increase in the antioxidant activity. The Soxhlet extract with ethyl acetate exhibited a strong reduction of lipid peroxidation (IC50 = 209 ± 3 μg/ml) value comparable to the standard rutin (IC50 = 203 ± 2 μg/ml). The results indicate that extracts of C. verbenacea have important potential as a source of bioactive compounds with antioxidant activity.  相似文献

In this work the supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) with carbon dioxide (CO2) and with ethyl acetate (EtAc) and ethanol (EtOH) as co-solvents was applied to obtain the phenolic fraction from guava seeds (Psidium guajava L.). The extraction was explored at various operating conditions, using 10, 20 and 30 MPa and 40, 50 and 60 °C. The use of EtAc and EtOH as co-solvents in SFE was also studied. The supercritical process was compared with traditional techniques such as Soxhlet extraction using EtAc and EtOH as solvents. The quality of the different extracts, obtained using SFE and Soxhlet methods and different solvents, was evaluated through the antioxidant activity, obtained by the collection methods of scavenging DPPH and bleaching of β-carotene, and also through the total phenolic content (TPC) of the samples, by the Folin-Ciocalteu method. The antioxidant potential indicates the use of ethanol as co-solvent as the best modifier in SFE, used in concentration of 10% (w/w) at 50 °C and 30 MPa. The quality of the extracts obtained by SFE with EtOH varied with the operating conditions of temperature and pressure, with higher values obtained at 10 and 20 MPa for TPC results and also antioxidant methods. The process yield of the phenolic fraction was also evaluated for all the extraction procedures studied (SFE and Soxhlet), with results varying from 0.380 to 1.738% (w/w).  相似文献

Andrographis paniculata extracts were precipitated using the so-called supercritical antisolvent (SAS) technique. Ethanol was used as the solvent and compressed CO2 as the antisolvent. The effects of process operating conditions (pressure: 5-24 MPa, temperature: 308-328 K and CO2 flow rate: 0.5-1.5 g/min) on particle size and morphology of precipitated andrographolide were evaluated. X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns showed significant changes in andrographolide morphology depending on process operating conditions; both column-like and slice-like crystals were observed depending on operating conditions. Crystals with mean diameters of 3.30-228.35 μm were produced, smaller crystals were obtained at high pressure, low temperature and high CO2 flow rate and vice versa for large crystals. In addition, SAS process also produced high precipitation yields, since solubility of andrographolide is small in the supercritical CO2 plus ethanol. When operating under subcritical conditions, amorphous particles were produced.  相似文献

Mixtures of supercritical CO2 and N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) are very often involved in supercritical fluid applications and their thermodynamic properties are required to understand and design these processes. Excess molar enthalpies () for CO2 + DMF mixtures were measured using an isothermal high-pressure flow calorimeter under conditions of temperature and pressure typically used in supercritical processes: 313.15 and 323.15 K at 9.00, 12.00, 15.00 and 18.00 MPa and 333.15 K at 9.00 and 15.00 MPa. The Peng-Robinson and the Soave-Redlich-Kwong equations of state were used in conjunction with the classical mixing rules to model the literature vapor-liquid equilibrium and critical data and the excess enthalpy data. In most cases, CO2 + DMF mixtures showed very exothermic mixing and excess molar enthalpies exhibited a minimum in the CO2-rich region. The lowest value (−4526 J mol−1) was observed for a CO2 mole fraction value of 0.713 at 9.00 MPa and 333.15 K. On the other hand, at 9.00 MPa and 323.15 and 333.15 K varies linearly with CO2 mole fraction in the two-phase region where a gaseous and a liquid mixture of fixed composition are in equilibrium. The effects of pressure and temperature on the excess molar enthalpy are large. For a given mole fraction, mixtures become less exothermic as pressure increases or temperature decreases. These excess enthalpy data were analyzed in terms of molecular interactions, phase equilibria, density and critical parameters previously reported for CO2 + DMF. All throughout this paper, the key concepts and modeling tools originate from the work of van der Waals: the paper is intended as a small piece of recognition of van der Waals overwhelming contributions to thermodynamics.  相似文献

The effects of supercritical carbondioxide extraction was investigated to compare previously validated extraction methods on total alkannin yield with Alkanna tinctoria collected form Antalya, Turkey. A two-step process was used; extraction of alkannin derivatives with supercritical CO2 followed by alkaline hydrolysis of alkannin derivatives. A Box-Behnken exprerimental design was used to evaluate the effect of three variables, pressure (50-350 bar), temperature (30-80 °C) and CO2 flow (5-20 g min−1) at 1:30 ratio of alkanna root:CO2 amount. Response surface analysis revealed that the data were adequately fitted to a second-order polynomial model with R2 0.9665 and the most effective variable was pressure (P ≤ 0.05). Optimum conditions were determined as 80 °C, 175 bar, 5 g min−1 CO2 flow yielding the highest total alkannins (1.47%) which was higher than conventional hexane extraction (1.24%) providing a solvent-free alternative for industrial production.  相似文献

Different bioactive flavonoid compounds including catechin, epicatechin, rutin, myricetin, luteolin, apigenin and naringenin were obtained from spearmint (Mentha spicata L.) leaves by using conventional soxhlet extraction (CSE) and supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2) extraction at different extraction schemes and parameters. The effect of different parameters such as temperature (40, 50 and 60 °C), pressure (100, 200 and 300 bar) and dynamic extraction time (30, 60 and 90 min) on the supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2) extraction of spearmint flavonoids was investigated using full factorial arrangement in a completely randomized design (CRD). The extracts of spearmint leaves obtained by CSE and optimal SC-CO2 extraction conditions were further analyzed by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) to identify and quantify major bioactive flavonoid compounds profile. Comparable results were obtained by optimum SC-CO2 extraction condition (60 °C, 200 bar, 60 min) and 70% ethanol soxhlet extraction. As revealed by the results, soxhlet extraction had a higher crude extract yield (257.67 mg/g) comparing to the SC-CO2 extraction (60.57 mg/g). Supercritical carbon dioxide extract (optimum condition) was found to have more main flavonoid compounds (seven bioactive flavonoids) with high concentration comparing to the 70% ethanol soxhlet extraction (five bioactive flavonoids). Therefore, SC-CO2 extraction is considered as an alternative process compared to the CSE for obtaining the bioactive flavonoid compounds with high concentration from spearmint leaves.  相似文献

Abajeru (Chrysobalanus icaco) is a plant that has hypoglycemic properties and is often used in Brazilian popular medicine. In order to identify the flavoring and hypoglycemic substances present in this plant, this work has an objective for the extraction of the essential oil presented in the leaves of abajeru using the supercritical fluid extraction (SFE). The supercritical solvent used is CO2, because of its moderate critical temperature and pressure, atoxicity, low cost and volatility. The experiments were conducted using dried leaves in an apparatus containing a high-pressure pump, a stainless steel extractor of 42 mL of volume and a micrometric valve for sampling. Different operational conditions were tested, varying mainly the temperature (313.15-353.15 K) and the pressure (10.5-20 kPa) in order to investigate the efficiency of the process. The results showed that the best operational condition was at 20 kPa and 353.15 K. To compare the supercritical carbon dioxide results, the essential oil was also extracted by hydrodistillation and soxhlet, using ethanol as solvent. The chromatographic analysis showed that the different technologies studied extracted the same classes of compounds but the SFE obtained the extract with potential hypoglycemic activity with the presence of lupenol.  相似文献

Tailored supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2) extraction of alkylresorcinols (ARs) from rye bran resulting in pre-purification of ARs already during extraction process. The pre-purification was achieved by splitting the extraction process in 2 steps.. In both steps, the CO2 pressure was set at 25 MPa with a flow rate of 10 g/min. The first step was carried out at 70 °C, 0.06% of ethanolic co-solvent for 2 h, followed by the second step at 45 °C using 10% of ethanolic co-solvent for 4 h, resulting in a pre-purified ARs extract. From the pre-purified scCO2 extract, chromatographed on C8 column, were obtained pure ARs homologues of C17, C19 and C21 (68% of total) eluting separately in a linear gradient of ethanol. Additionally, a rapid method for the isolation of high purified pools of ARs homologues using a disposable solid phase extraction SPE-C18 column and a step gradient of ethanol was developed.  相似文献

The knowledge of the phase behaviour of organometallic compounds in supercritical CO2 is the key factor for determining the feasibility of homogeneous catalysis in supercritical fluid reaction. In the present study, the solid-liquid-gas equilibrium line for the system CO2/Cu(thd)2, CO2/Pt(COD)Me2 and He/Pt(COD)Me2 was determined from 0.1 MPa to 25 MPa. In addition, experimental solubility data of Cu(thd)2 in CO2 at 333 K and pressures ranging from 10 MPa to 17 MPa as well as of Pt(COD)Me2 in CO2 at 313 K, 333 K and 353 K and pressures ranging from 12 MPa to 32 MPa are presented. The solubility data are correlated using the linear relationship between the logarithm of the solubility and the logarithm of the reduced density of pure CO2 proposed by Kumar and Johnston as well as an extension of the theory of dilute solution proposed by Mendez-Santiago and Teja. Both approaches gave reasonable results in the correlation of the experimental solubility data.  相似文献

Thermal transformations of α-pinene epoxide in composite supercritical solvents that contain CO2, lower alcohols (ethanol, isopropyl alcohol) and water were studied in the temperature range of 387-575 K at pressure 13.5-21.5 MPa. Campholenic aldehyde and carveol were shown to be the main products of α-pinene epoxide reactions in supercritical solvents containing water. In the absence of water, thermolysis of α-pinene epoxide in supercritical solvent yields campholenic aldehyde and pinocamphone, with their total amount in the reaction mixture attaining 80%. Suggestions were made on the mechanism of α-pinene epoxide thermal isomerization depending on acidity of supercritical solvent.  相似文献

Lavandin (Lavandula hybrida) essential oil contains components with biocide properties that can be used as substitutes of synthetic drugs in livestock. This application requires an appropriate formulation of the essential oil. In this work, supercritical impregnation of lavandin oil has been proposed as a possible formulation process, due to the high solubility of lavandin essential oil in supercritical carbon dioxide. The polymer used in this work as carrier material was starch modified with the n-octenil succinate (OSA) group, in the form of powder with a particle size of 30 μm. The effects of operational pressure (10-12 MPa), temperature (313-323 K) and lavandin oil to starch mass ratio (0.2-1) were studied. Impregnation loads ranging from 25 to 150 mg lavandin oil/g OSA-starch were obtained. The distribution coefficient of essential oil between the starch and the supercritical phase as well as the essential oil load depended on the density of CO2.  相似文献

The supercritical removal of ethanol from alcoholic beverages (brandy, wine, and cider) was studied using the GC-EoS model to represent the phase equilibria behavior of the CO2 + beverage mixture. Each alcoholic drink was represented as the ethanol + water mixture with the corresponding ethanol concentration (35 wt% for brandy, 9-12 wt% for different wines and 6 wt% for cider). The thermodynamic modeling was based on an accurate representation of the CO2 + ethanol and CO2 + water binary mixtures, and the CO2 + ethanol + water ternary mixture. The GC-EoS model was employed to simulate the countercurrent supercritical CO2 dealcoholization of the referred beverages; the results obtained compared good with experimental data from the literature. Thus, the model was used to estimate process conditions to achieve an ethanol content reduction from ca. 10 wt% to values lower than 1 wt%. The model results were tested by carrying out several extraction assays using wine, in a 3 m height packed column at 308 K, pressures in the range of 9-18 MPa and solvent to wine ratio between 9 and 30 kg/kg.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to obtain orange (Citrus sinensis L. Osbeck) pomace extract using supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) with CO2 and with CO2 and co-solvent. In order to evaluate the high pressure method in terms of process yield, extract composition and biological activity, low pressure methods were also applied to obtain orange extracts, such as ultrasound (UE) and soxhlet (SOX), with different organic solvents, and hydrodistillation (HD). The SFE conditions were temperatures of 313.15 K and 323.15 K and pressures from 100 to 300 bar. The SFE kinetics and mathematical modeling of the overall extraction curves (OEC) were also investigated. The antioxidant potential of the extracts was evaluated by the DPPH method, by the Folin-Ciocalteau method and by the β-carotene/linoleic acid bleaching method. The antimicrobial activity of the extracts was also studied. The main compounds identified were l-limonene, palmitic and oleic acids, n-butyl benzenesulfonamide and β-sitosterol.  相似文献

The solubility of CO2 in saturated polyester resins at different temperatures (306 and 343 K) and pressures (0.1-30 MPa) has been measured using a magnetic suspension balance. The solubility data were used for estimating the binary diffusion coefficients. The results show a good solubility of CO2 in polymers, up to 0.64 g CO2/g polymer. The diffusion coefficients of supercritical CO2 in polymers have generally high values and are in the range from 0.156 × 10−8 to 10.38 × 10−8 cm2/s. DSC and XRD analyses of the semi-crystalline polymer samples indicate that amorphous degree of polymers after exposure to CO2 is increased. The observed structural effects are dependent on pressure, temperature and time of exposure to CO2.  相似文献

Quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) was used as an in situ detector to investigate the potential application in the phase equilibrium determination of supercritical CO2-drug-polymer systems. CO2 solubility in two biodegradable polymers, poly(d,l-lactic acid) (d,l-PLA) and poly(l-lactic acid) (l-PLA) was primarily measured at 313.15 K and pressures up to 10.0 MPa. d,l-PLA showed a better CO2 absorption ability due to its amorphous structure. Four drug model compounds of poor solubility in water, ibuprofen, aspirin, salicylic acid and naphthalene were selected as representatives for the examination of drug uptake in PLA matrices, as well as partition coefficient during supercritical impregnation. It was found that partition coefficients of drugs can reach as high as 103-104 orders of magnitude and greatly affected by the intermolecular interactions between drugs and PLA. Aspirin exhibited the best partitioning during the supercritical impregnation at pressures of 8.0-10.0 MPa due to the existence of carboxylic acid and acetyl groups. Drug partitioning is additionally related to the drug concentration in ScCO2, i.e. salicylic acid showed little absorption in PLA according to its poor solubility in ScCO2 at 7.5-8.0 MPa, whereas the well CO2-soluble compound, naphthalene, exhibited a moderate partition coefficient although its polarity was different from l-PLA.  相似文献
