16-band integrated dynamic gain equalization filter with less than2.8-dB insertion loss 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We demonstrate a low-loss 16-band dynamic gain equalization filter consisting of two perfectly sampled waveguide grating routers (WGRs) and an array of thermooptic attenuators. This integrated silica waveguide filter has <2.8-dB fiber-to-fiber insertion loss, <0.2-dB polarization-dependent loss at minimum attenuation and <0.7-dB at 10-dB extra attenuation, and <5.0-W electrical power consumption over the C-band. A standard fiber-based loop mirror as a gain-flattening filter for erbium-doped fiber amplifiers 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We report flattening of the amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) spectrum from an erbium-doped fiber (EDF) using a standard fiber-based loop mirror (FLM), realized with an "over-coupled" fiber coupler. Through simulation, a bend-induced birefringent FLM as a gain-flattening filter is designed. Subsequently, an over-coupled coupler with a free spectral range of 140 nm is fabricated to realize the FLM, which is integrated to an EDF that is pumped by a 980-nm laser diode. By introducing an appropriate amount of bend-induced birefringence in the loop, the ASE spectrum of the EDF could be flattened within /spl plusmn/0.5 dB over a wavelength range of 32 nm in the C-band. 相似文献

A review of the progress in automated design of analog integrated filters is presented. Such tools are ahead of other analog circuit automation in terms of the acceptance by designers and practical applicability. A survey of the present-day commercial and academic systems is made and the range of facilities available is compared. The problems faced in the design of this type of software are typical of the problems of analog design systems in general; lack of openness for introduction of new design knowledge, difficulties of dealing simultaneously with expert and novice users, poor integration in design environments, and user-interface problems. The structure of a typical system is studied and the computer methods used within are discussed with regard to such issues as speed, flexibility, and ease-of-use. Some future directions for analog filter compilers are proposed. 相似文献

A 10-GHz filter constructed of slot-coupled micromachined cavities in silicon is presented. The novel character of the filter lies in its structure, which consists of a microstrip feed to cavities via slot apertures and three vertically stacked slot-coupled cavities. The cavities are essentially reduced-height waveguide resonators. The measured results are presented and compared to a finite-element-method model. The simulated model has a bandwidth of 4% with an insertion loss of 0.9 dB at 10.02 GHz. The measured filter yields a 3.7% bandwidth with a deembedded insertion loss of 2.0 dB at 10.01 GHz. An eighth-order Butterworth bandpass filter, operating at 100 kHz with a quality factor of 14.3, is presented. The filter features an optimized dynamic range, a large tuning range, and a small occupied chip area of 0.25 mm2 owing to very simple circuitry. Measurements show a very accurate realization of the desired transfer function, a high dynamic range of 62 dB, and a tuning range from 50 to 200 kHz. Implementation, measurements, and characteristics of a fully integrated 32 tap real-time programmable transversal filter, which facilitates a number of filter applications, are discussed. It uses RAMs and 16 MDACs for tap weight programming and pipe organ structure to provide for a large variety of adaptive convolutional and correlative signal processing with optimum compromise among power dissipation, computational speed, size, and performance. Operation of an integrated optical channel waveguide array-CCD transversal filter is reported. Channel waveguides formed in V-grooves couple directly to the sensor elements of the four phase, double polysilicon CCD. The filter is based on the authors' newly developed optical transversal filter that uses an asymmetric combiner. An experimental single-chip silicon integrated-circuit filter is described for use in color television receivers. It comprises five gyrator resonators operating in the range 4-6 MHz. This chip provides all the selectivity required to separate the sound, luminance, and chrominance components from the composite video signal, and is tuned by a single bias potential applied to the p-n junction capacitors on the chip. The chip replaces an equivalent LC filter of about 20 discrete components (coils, capacitors, and resistors) which are bulky, are relatively expensive, and suffer from the need for individual screening and alignment. The theory of gyrators related to providing fully integrated selectivity at high frequency is outlined. Performance boundaries in terms of Q-factor, frequency setting accuracy, noise, distortion, and temperature are considered. A self-equalised pseudo-elliptical filter on the basis of substrate integrated waveguide technology is proposed and demonstrated over the Ka-band range. The extracted-pole technique is used to synthesise a sixth-order filter with non-resonating nodes. With 16 channels present, individual channel crosstalk was lower than -15 dB for both single-wavelength and dual-wavelength filtering. In the design of integrated continuous-time filters it is often difficult to choose a proper integrator circuit because the relative merits of the different possibilities are little known. A thorough analysis of all the possible circuits is necessary. In this work, the design and an accurate analysis of the noise and distortion properties of one type of integrator, based on a tunable bipolar transconductor, are given. The analysis is used to optimize the dynamic range, and the results are verified by simulation and measurement. A new second-order lowpass filter based on a single CMOS fully differential current conveyor is presented. Developed from the Sallen-Key highpass filter, the proposed filter is AC coupled and provides programmable gain. Moreover, the filter exhibits low noise, high linearity and low power, making it suitable for implementing the baseband filter of a WCDMA direct-conversion wireless receiver. A WCDMA filter having a programmable bandwidth around 2.1 MHz, a variable gain range of 50 dB and a DC notch below 2 kHz using passive components below 5 kW for resistors and 20 pF for capacitors is implemented. An InGaAsP-InP integrated optics wavelength selective device is proposed and demonstrated. It utilizes coupling between epitaxial layers with different refractive indices and thicknesses. The device is suitable for integration to form, e.g., a monolithic receiver for wavelength division multiplexed optical communication systems. Design considerations are given. The filter bandwidth and center wavelength can be freely chosen, and bandwidths as narrow as 1.5 nm at 1.3 or 1.55 μm center wavelength are shown feasible. Electrical tuning is possible. Experimental filters show that devices can he fabricated with performance in good agreement with theory, The 22-nm -3-dB bandwidth at 1.12-μm center wavelength presently demonstrated is limited by the measurement system. 相似文献
