Three years ago, The Ohio State University began to incorporate computer graphics into the regular undergraduate and graduate curriculum in Mechanical Engineering. This required the establishment of a graphics facility dedicated to Mechanical Engineering and changes in course structure to use the facility. This paper describes the formulation of the graphics laboratory, changes made to integrate computer graphics and computer aided design into several courses, and the favorable impact this has had on the curriculum.  相似文献

The rising application of computer-aided design (CAD) in the industrial environment has precipitated an interest in computer graphics for engineering education. At the University of Texas at Austin, a computer graphics laboratory has been established that is primarily dedicated to freshman engineering graphics education. The laboratory is currently equipped with eight Hewlett-Packard 2647 A intelligent graphics terminals. Five software modules have been developed to introduce the student to the graphics terminal and to demonstrate its capabilities for making engineering drawings. The modules permit the construction of line drawings, pictorials, graphs and charts on the CRT terminal without requiring any programming skill on the part of the student. The laboratory exercises have been successfully used by over 1000 engineering graphics students during the first two semesters of implementation. This paper describes the efforts to date in organizing and implementing this freshman computer graphics laboratory.  相似文献

Computer graphical display has been used in teaching nuclear engineering at Queen Mary College since 1971 and has assumed an increasingly important role in the modelling and simulation of engineering systems, not least nuclear engineering systems, for teaching purposes. The role of computer graphics is illustrated by means of examples selected from a suite of nuclear engineering programs in current use, indicating the highly flexible interaction and enhanced presentation of information which can be achieved. The facilities provided at Queen Mary College for the implementation of graphics-based teaching programs are described and the associated laboratory organisation indicated.  相似文献

The Apple II is a personal computer which provides 6 color, raster graphics via a 280 h × 192 v frame buffer. A user-programmable MOS Technology 6502 CPU addresses 48 K bytes of RAM, 12 K of ROM. and 4 K of memory-mapped I/O. This system has been evaluated in a variety of applications for which one normally assumes higher resolution, higher cost graphics devices are needed.Examples were drawn from computer aided design, color microfilm previewing, cartography, and aircraft synthesis. The results were encouraging: low resolution raster scan graphics is surprisingly effective for a wide range of applications. As a result, a computer graphics laboratory, with a cluster of 10 Apples as its nucleus, was formed and has been functioning successfully for 4 terms.  相似文献

The result of accessible media innovations has empowered visual planners to broaden these limitations of their training. In this setting, the planner is always achieving stylish success and is influenced by the modern embedded system's design and patterns in the existing method IOT (Internet of thing) based embedded system for PS (Photoshop) course teaching. In the existing method, wireless communication-based image processing is less accurate and less detection of image. So in the proposed method, art design PS (Photoshop) course teaching based FPGA (Field-programmable gate array) and embedded system graphics processing for Image Dissection Algorithm. The state of constant request, finding ways of exposure that lead to development and innovation, which are deeply respected standards for self-assessment. This exploration is based on the architect's perspective and performance observation of the wheels used in visual computerization. Contemporary planning philosophies are fundamentally examined, contradictory, and refined by the mirror action of the scientist. The refined approach to architects helps to advance the method work rehearsals, anticipating the importance of investigation and launch activities. Image Dissection Algorithm Exploration innovations exhibit some contradictions in identified approaches. Like many contemporary creators, they do not adhere to the customer base of expert planning practice, yet modern professionals influence self-produced configuration images. As FPGA (Field-programmable gate array) is confirmed by some parts of the more common planning actions, the expert finds that the architect's involvement with accidental disclosure and innovation has a critical impact on the planning cycle.  相似文献

Design is a complex engineering activity, in which computers are more and more involved. The design task can often be seen as an optimization problem in which the parameters or the structure describing the best quality design are sought.Genetic algorithms constitute a class of search algorithms especially suited to solving complex optimization problems. In addition to parameter optimization, genetic algorithms are also suggested for solving problems in creative design, such as combining components in a novel, creative way.Genetic algorithms transpose the notions of evolution in Nature to computers and imitate natural evolution. Basically, they find solution(s) to a problem by maintaining a population of possible solutions according to the ‘survival of the fittest’ principle. We present here the main features of genetic algorithms and several ways in which they can solve difficult design problems. We briefly introduce the basic notions of genetic algorithms, namely, representation, genetic operators, fitness evaluation, and selection. We discuss several advanced genetic algorithms that have proved to be efficient in solving difficult design problems. We then give an overview of applications of genetic algorithms to different domains of engineering design.  相似文献

LOGO is a programming language incorporating turtle graphics, originally devised for teaching computing to young children in elementary and middle schools. Here, we advocate the use of LOGO to help introduce some of the basic concepts of computer graphics and computer-aided design to undergraduate and graduate students in colleges and universities. We shall show how to motivate affine coordinates and affine transformations, fractal curves and iterated function systems, relaxation methods and subdivision schemes from elementary notions in turtle geometry and turtle programming.  相似文献
