Techniques for the design of narrow-band (of the order of a percent or so), bandpass filters using dielectric waveguide gratings are presented. These filters use both single, uncoupled gratings and parallel-coupled configurations of gratings to form multiresonator bandpass filter structures. Transmission-line equivalent circuits are used to model the dielectric waveguide gratings. Using this model, it is then shown how direct-coupled-resonator theory can be applied to such filter structures to synthesize a prescribed passband having Chebyshev or maximally flat characteristic. On the other hand, the parallel-coupled gratings give these filters broad and strong, absorptive stopbands, as is explained. Experimental results are presented which show good agreement between theoretical and measured results.  相似文献

This paper develops novel waveguide filters consisting of frequency-selective surfaces (FSSs) in order to realize both the drastic size reduction and multiple attenuation poles in stopbands at both sides of passband. The FSS provides not only a passband but also attenuation-pole frequencies in stopbands since the FSS has both the aperture-element and the patch-element behaviors. In the present design method, the shape of each FSS is designed by a genetic algorithm so that the resonant curve of FSS can be fitted to that obtained from an equivalent-circuit approach. By using such FSSs and quarter-wavelength waveguides, a bandpass filter with six attenuation poles like an elliptic-function filter has been constructed. Furthermore, a technique of the size reduction by controlling adequately the resonant response of each FSS is presented. In this filter, the FSSs are closely located at the interval of the length much shorter than a quarter wavelength. It is shown from the design example that the half longitudinal length of the former example can be obtained, keeping both the passband response and attenuation poles in stopbands. The effectiveness of the waveguide filters with FSSs is validated by good agreement between the calculated and the measured results.  相似文献

Precision design techniques are obtained for dieletric waveguide (DW) bandstop filters with bandwidths up into the 5-10-percent range. Dielectric waveguide bandstop filters are realized in the form of a grating in the DW image guide which utilizes notches of varying depth and length. The grating is designed from a transmission-line prototype which has a prescribed stopband and also prescribed Chebyshev passbands. An approximate synthesis procedure for such prototypes is presented. Design data for grating notches were obtained from tests on uniform gratings, while DW dispersion is compensated for by calculations based on the "effective dielectric constant" method. Excellent agreement between computed and measured attenuation response is obtained. Two such grating structures used with loads on one end and a 3-dB coupler can be used to form a bandpass filter.  相似文献

This paper examines the broadband distortion behavior in flexible filters employing varactor-diode tuning elements. Series- and parallel-resonant varactor-loaded transmission-lines, both commonly used in bandpass and bandstop microwave filters, are analyzed. Nonlinear Volterra-series analysis is employed to determine the second- and third-order distortion ratios dependent on the frequencies of the incident signals. It is shown that in a bandpass filter (employing parallel tuned resonators), maximum distortion occurs in the passband, while in a bandstop filter (employing series tuned resonators), minimum distortion occurs at the minimum-loss passband. The analysis is verified by practical measurement of filters employing the two modes of resonators.  相似文献

Direct-coupled microwave filters with single and dual stopbands   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
This paper presents new ideas for the design and implementation of microwave filters with single and dual stopbands. They can be realized with waveguide, coaxial, dielectric resonators, or in a planar technology. The new methods represent an advance over present methods in that the resonators are direct coupled, thus avoiding the need for transmission line phase lengths between resonator stubs that tend to degrade performance due to their dispersion and are difficult to adjust during tuning. Three bandstop (BS) configurations are presented. The first will accommodate even or odd characteristics and also asymmetric responses, although some negative or diagonal cross-couplings will be needed. The second resembles the cul-de-sac configuration for bandpass filters and needs no diagonal or negative couplings even for asymmetric characteristics. The third is an application of the cul-de-sac synthesis technique to dual-band bandstop (DBBS) filters. All these BS designs are very similar to regular bandpass filters in their design and realization. The design of a DBBS filter is presented and compared with an equivalent bandpass filter to demonstrate its advantages. Finally, the simulated and measured results of a fourth-degree BS filter design in the novel cul-de-sac configuration are presented.  相似文献

Microstrip lines are attractive for the lower millimeter-wave ranges, but use of relatively thick substrates would be desirable in order to minimize losses. On such substrates the usual types of microstrip narrowband bandpass filters (formed from, e.g. coupled line segments with open ends) tend to radiate strongly giving very poor performance. It has been found that a grating technique initially developed for use with dielectric waveguides can be adapted for microstrips to obtain narrowband millimeter-wave microstrip filters with little radiation and strong filter characteristics. The stopbands are broad, the second passband occurring at three times the frequency of the first passband. These filters use parallel-coupled gratings with a single grating in cascade at each end. The modifications to the dielectric waveguide filter theory that are necessary for use with microstrips are detailed. Experimental results from microstrip realizations, which demonstrate their potential for millimeter-wave microstrip applications, are also presented  相似文献

Using the "natural prototype" for elliptic function filters, a design procedure is presented for a class of waveguide bandstop filters, which exhibit equiripple passband and stopband responses. Due to the availability of explicit formulas for element values in the natural prototype elliptic function filter, the design procedure is entirely analytic and does not require numerical synthesis techniques. The resulting physical structure is the familiar uniform guide with iris-coupled series stubs. Unlike the bandstop filters designed from maximally flat or Chebyshev prototypes, the elliptic function design results in stubs that are not exactly three-quarter-wave coupled.  相似文献

Two forms of quasi-optical filters are discussed herein for use at millimeter-wave frequencies and possibly for far infrared frequencies. One form consists of metallic grids with intervening dielectric support material which forms a quasi-optical filter analogous to the inductively coupled waveguide bandpass filter. Because of dielectric losses, the relatively weak upper stopband, and the rapidly repeating passbands, this type of structure leaves much to be desired as a bandpass quasi-optical filter. However, when designed for wide bandwidth, it makes a very good pseudo-high-pass filter. For moderate- to wide-band bandpass applications, pseudo-high-pass filters of this type can be designed to match with a form of quasi-optical low-pass filter previously treated by the authors, in order to give a bandpass filter with strong, broad stopbands on both sides of the passband. Design principles, computed performance, and experimental results are presented for both pseudo-high-pass and bandpass structures.  相似文献

A novel one-section bandstop filter (BSF), which possesses the characteristics of compact size, wide bandwidth, and low insertion loss is proposed and fabricated. This bandstop filter was constructed by using single quarter-wavelength resonator with one section of anti-coupled lines with short circuits at one end. The attenuation-pole characteristics of this type of bandstop filters are investigated through TEM transmission-line model. Design procedures are clearly presented. The 3-dB bandwidth of the first stopband and insertion loss of the first passband of this BSF is from 2.3 GHz to 9.5 GHz and below 0.3 dB, respectively. There is good agreement between the simulated and experimental results.  相似文献

A synthesizing method is presented to design and implement digital dual-band filters in the microwave frequency range. A dual-band filter consists of a bandstop filter and a wide-band bandpass filter in a cascade connection, wherein the transfer functions of both the bandpass filter and bandstop filter are expressed in the Z domain. The bandstop filter is implemented by using a coupled-serial-shunted line structure, while the wide-band bandpass filter is constructed by using a serial-shunted line configuration. In particular, the bandwidth of each passband of the dual-band filter is controllable by adjusting the characteristics of both the bandpass filter and bandstop filter. By neglecting the dispersion effect between microstrip lines of different widths over a wide bandwidth, a dual-band filter is realized in the form of microstrip lines and its frequency responses are measured to validate this method.  相似文献

In this letter, we present a novel network for dual-band filter, the circuit of which is a mixture of shunt stub bandpass filter and shunt serial resonator bandstop filter. The stopband of the bandstop filter will split the passband of the bandpass filter and result in a dual-band response. The simulated and measured results are given. This kind of filter has the advantage of bigger and controllable bandwidths and lower insertion loss compared with traditional SIR dual-band filters.   相似文献

提出了一种基于共面波导(Coplanar Waveguide,CPW)和微带线复合结构的四分之一波长带通滤波器(Bandpass Filter,BPF)。该带通滤波器由两个终端开路的T形微带馈线结构和四个交叉耦合的四分之一波长CPW谐振器组成。通过仿真优化得到其特性曲线图,并分析比较了不同参数对其滤波性能的影响。仿真结果表明,该带通滤波器在其2.97~3.03 GHz的通带内的最小插损低于0.4dB,回波损耗大于30dB,同时其带外衰减都大于25dB。这种滤波器结构紧凑,尺寸小,性能好,可应用于很多微波系统中。  相似文献

Novel compact parallel-coupled microstrip bandpass filters are proposed by using additional lumped inductors to realize K-inverters between coupled-line sections to achieve an equivalent to the quarter-wavelength (/spl lambda//4) resonator filters. As a result, the filter order can be doubled without increasing the circuit area, and no repeated passband is observed at twice the center frequency. In addition, by introducing the cross-coupling effect, two transmission zeros at upper and lower stopbands may be created. Simple equivalent-circuit models are also established as effective design tools. Specifically, several compact fourth-order microstrip bandpass filters with good stopband rejection are implemented and carefully examined.  相似文献

基于螺旋交指结构设计了一种新型的带阻谐振单元,并采用全波仿真软件对其进行分析。仿真结果表明,在此谐振单元中存在2个较窄的阻带,改变单元结构的尺寸可分别控制2个阻带的位置。在此基础上,采用2个单元级联的方式设计并加工了一款具有优越电磁性能的结构紧凑的双频带阻滤波器。采用矢量网络分析仪对所设计的滤波器进行测试,测试和仿真结果吻合较好,2个阻带的中心频率为3.30GHz和4.93GHz,对应的阻带带宽分别为3.233.37GHz和4.733.37GHz和4.735.10GHz,阻带边缘陡峭度大于90dB/GHz,所设计的带阻滤波器具有优越的性能。此外,该滤波器的有效尺寸为24.0mm×5.2mm,与传统带阻滤波器相比较,小型化优势明显。  相似文献

Improved stopband attenuation is achieved by thick strips, by reduced waveguide sidewall dimensions, and by double planar integrated circuits. In contrast to thick strips which may cause high passband insertion losses and filters with reduced waveguide dimensions which require additional tapers, double planar E-plane integrated circuit filters combine the advantages of low costs, high stopband, and low passband insertion losses. Computer-aided design of a four-resonator Ka -band double metal insert filter achieves a calculated stopband attenuation between 40 and 60 GHz of more than 50 dB, the calculated minimum passband insertion loss is 0.43 dB (measured 1.8 dB). Higher order mode excitation and finite thicknesses of the inserts are included in the calculations.  相似文献

This paper presents a novel design method of bandstop filters (BSFs) and dual-band bandstop filter (DBBSF) with completely controlled bandwidth and centre frequency, high rejection levels at mid-stopband and compact sizes. First, bandstop units with simple structures are proposed. Through theoretical analysis, the centre frequency and bandwidth of the bandstop units can be independently controlled by tuning the parameters of the loaded stubs. Then, single-band, dual-band bandstop units and compact J-inverters are adopted to design the filters. Finally, to demonstrate the proposed design method, 2-order, 3-order and dual-band BSFs are fabricated and measured. From the experimental results, the maximum rejection levels at mid-stopband of 2- and 3-order are around 50 dB and 70 dB, respectively. The two stopbands of the DBBSF can be fully controlled. The measured maximum rejection levels at the two mid-stopbands are both around 60 dB. Furthermore, all the simulation and measurement show good agreement.  相似文献

The parameters of general two-coupled lines and symmetric three-coupled lines in an inhomogeneous medium for the lossless case are obtained. The impedance and chain matrices of spurline bandstop filters are derived. One-section spurline bandstop filters with their stopbands centered near 33 GHz have been designed and tested.
