With recent advances in state-of-the-art spatial light modulators, the optical joint transform correlator (JTC) and the binary joint transform correlator (BJTC) are becoming practical signal-processing tools. The performance of these devices is limited by the difficulty of separating the cross correlation between the reference and the targets in the scene from signals resulting from cross correlations between objects in the target scene. One technique that reduces this problem is to use a sliding window in the Fourier plane as a convolution mask filter to set an adaptive binarization threshold. This suppresses the autocorrelation response and reduces the dynamic range of the Fourier-plane signal. This results in correlation performance improvement by a factor of 2 to 4. A mathematical model is developed to describe the windowing process for both the JTC and BJTC for the case in which the scene contains multiple targets and background clutter. The derivation of the windowing process is general and includes any spatial high-pass or bandpass filtering in the Fourier plane. The results are supported with experimental data.  相似文献

Correlation is considered to be a fundamental operation in the field of signal processing. The fact that this operation can be implemented optically in a relatively simple manner is an important advantage of utilizing optical systems for signal processing. The VanderLugt 4-f system and the joint transform correlator (JTC) are the two most popular configurations for performing a spatial correlation operation optically. So far the JTC architecture has been used for performing correlation between two images, which are illuminated by a quasi-monochromatic light source. We propose a generalization of the JTC that performs a correlation between two temporal optical signals.  相似文献

提出了一种用液晶光阀实现对输入图像的微分预处理和对功率谱微分处理的实时联合变换相关器。两个液晶光阀均处于非线性变换态,分别在输入面和频谱面上实现对输入图像和联合功率谱的微分处理。微分功率谱经傅里叶透镜变换后得到相关输出。实验表明,该相关器采用全光方式不仅保证了实时性,而且锐化了相关峰;经该相关器微分后的图像,其相关性能明显优于常规联合变换相关器输出的结果。  相似文献

An all-optical joint transform correlator featuring two operative correlation planes(ports) with complementary performance is presented. We present the theory of operation, derive the input-output characteristics, and demonstrate computer simulations and experimental results. The two-port joint transform correlator is based on simultaneous use of two photorefractive wave-mixing architectures. The first port uses two-beam coupling, and the second port uses four-wave mixing. The performance of the two ports depends on an experimentally controlled beam intensity ratio and the photorefractive coupling coefficient. With appropriate selection of these parameters, the first port is capable of high discrimination, while simultaneously the second offers a low discrimination output. Our results show that the two-beam coupling port can achieve peak-to-noise and signal-to-noise ratio values better than the phase-only correlator, whereas the four-wave-mixing port performs similarly to the classical joint transform correlator. This leads to a potential application in which the correlator could be set up so that in one port a general class is detected (interclass) and, in the other, the specific item in a class is detected (intraclass).  相似文献

提出利用复制技术对高通滤波后的功率谱复制多份以获得高效的联合变换相关。平方律探测器CCD将功率谱输入计算机,经相减运算和Butter-worth高通滤波后,将其复制成N份,戍阵列形式呈现在空间光调制器上,经光学傅里叶变换得到信号相叠加的高效相关输出。计算机模拟和光学实验结果表明,这种高效相关器能够抑制相关面上的中央零级项,增强、锐化一级相关峰,信噪比提高了4倍多,N份功率谱阵列对应的输出峰值强度约是单份功率谱对应强度的N倍。  相似文献

An important tool in optical pattern recognition, the joint fractional transform correlator (JFTC), was introduced recently. We analyze the peak properties of fractional correlation (FC) by symbolic derivation and computer simulation. We show that the FC has a maximum correlation peak when the second fractional Fourier transform is reduced to the conventional Fourier transform. We introduce nonlinear operations in a joint fractional transform power spectrum and propose a differential JFTC and a binary differential JFTC. Numerical simulations show that such nonlinear JFTCs exhibit remarkable improvement in correlation peak intensity, discrimination capability, and signal-to-noise ratio. An optoelectronic setup that can implement such nonlinear JFTCs is also proposed.  相似文献

A temperature-compensated fiber specklegram strain sensor with an adaptive joint transform correlator (JTC) is presented. By exploiting the dual-channel correlation of the fiber specklegram JTC, we can measure the temperature-compensated strain. A new, to our knowledge, subtracted joint transform correlator (SJTC) is proposed that has no digital processing in a computer. All processing for obtaining correlation signals between an object and multiple reference patterns were treated optically by use of a joint transform correlator with a holographic interferometer similar to the Mach-Zehnder one. The joint power spectrum of the reference patterns was subtracted from that of the input image (the object pattern plus the reference patterns), and the spurious correlation signals between the different reference patterns were removed. Because of the optical parallel computations of the Fourier spectra and the subtraction, the real-time SJTC is possible to achieve by use of only an optical system. An experimental arrangement of the system and system performances of the shift-invariant characteristics and discriminability are described. The results show the good performance of this system.  相似文献

Abstract

The performance of a hybrid joint transform correlator (JTC) is improved by the input image pre-processing method and our proposed spectrum binarizing and replicating technique. The input image pre-processing can enhance the correlation discrimination ability of a JTC system, and the replication of the binary spectrum under an appropriate condition can further substantially increase the light efficiency, the maximum correlation peak intensity, the peak sharpness and the signal-to-noise ratio of the system at the same time by the mechanics of constructive interference. Theoretical analyses are presented. Both the computer simulation and optical experiment verifying the effectiveness of this technique are also given.  相似文献

The detection performance of a wavelet-based joint transform correlator (JTC) is studied by use of two types of images with different spatial-frequency contents and contrast. Based on joint transform correlator (JTC) architecture and holographic techniques, a new method for image hiding is presented. A hidden image encrypted by JTC architecture is embedded in the Fourier hologram of the host image. Inverse Fourier transform can be used to obtain the watermarked image, and JTC architecture is used to decode the hidden image from the watermarked hologram. Unlike other watermarking techniques, by prechoosing information, the noise added to the recovered hidden image by the host can be reduced. Unlike other watermarking systems based on double random-phase encoding, no conjugate key is used to recover the hidden image. Theoretical analyses have shown the system's feasibility. Computer simulations are presented to verify the system's validity and efficiency. Numerical simulations also show that the proposed system is robust enough to resist attacks, such as occlusion, noise, and filtering.  相似文献

An automatic method for three-dimensional (3-D) shape recognition is proposed. It combines the Fourier transform profilometry technique with a real-time recognition setup such as the joint transform correlator (JTC). A grating is projected onto the object surface resulting in a distorted grating pattern. Since this pattern carries information about the depth and the shape of the object, their comparison provides a method for recognizing 3-D objects in real time. A two-cycle JTC is used for this purpose. Experimental results demonstrate the theory and show the utility of the new proposed method.  相似文献

A novel reference phase-encoded joint transform correlation technique is proposed for efficient multiple-target detection. The proposed method employs phase encoding for the reference image and nonlinear Fourier plane apodization to optimize the detection performance. Existing joint transform correlators (JTC's) require multistep on-line processing to eliminate the false alarms. The proposed reference phase-encoded JTC overcomes false-target detection by eliminating the false correlation peaks while alleviating the effects of noise and other artifacts in just one step, thus ensuring higher processing speed. This technique yields only one peak per target instead of a pair of peaks produced by alternate JTC's. An all-optical implementation for the reference phase-encoded JTC technique is proposed, and computer simulation results are presented.  相似文献

Abstract

A multi-channel polychromatic non-zero-order joint transform correlator (NOJTC) with minimum average cross-correlation energy is introduced. The system is implemented using a general JTC scheme with additional power-spectrum subtraction strategy and the design of an ideal reference function with a Lagrange multipliers technique. As the zero-order part is removed, the desired correlation peaks can be quite distinctive and sharp. The correlator also shows the advantage of better detection ability over monochromatic systems.  相似文献

A new method for improving fingerprint detections by a compression-based joint transform correlator (JTC) via wavelet filter is proposed. The simulation results show that the proposed method has advantages over the conventional compression-based JTC in that detection performance can be maximized to be higher than a classical JTC by using a smaller file size for the compressed-reference images.  相似文献

We present a statistical-analysis technique for a nonlinear joint transform correlator (JTC) based on two assumptions: the noise and the signal spectra are identical, and the signal energy is small relative to the noise energy. The first assumption, while admittedly convenient, is also defensible in that it is a worst case and in that image and scene noise can be similar in texture. The second is also reasonable, given that even a clearly visible signal may have small energy compared with the scene noise if it is of limited extent; in any case, the results appear moderately faithful even for the case that signal and noise energies are equal. We discover that the optimal Fourier-plane transformation is spatially variant and tends to remove the Fourier amplitudes of the input image, and indeed functions in a way very similar to the spatially variant binary JTC. We also see that the classic (or spatially invariant linear) JTC is a very inferior technique for signallike noise, that the best spatially variant binary JTC uses a threshold proportional to the noise power spectrum, and that, if a spatially invariant binary-thresholded JTC is desired, then the median Fourier-plane value is an excellent choice of threshold. The performance predictions are verified by simulation and appear to be reasonable even for the highly nonlinear binary schemes.  相似文献

Recently, joint transform correlator (JTC) has been widely applied to image encryption and authentication. This paper presents a novel secret sharing scheme with two users based on JTC. Two users must be present during the decryption that the system has high security and reliability. In the scheme, two users use their fingerprints to encrypt plaintext, and they can decrypt only if both of them provide the fingerprints which are successfully authenticated. The linear relationship between the plaintext and ciphertext is broken using the compressive sensing, which can resist existing attacks on JTC. The results of the theoretical analysis and numerical simulation confirm the validity of the system.  相似文献

We present a new input configuration for the joint transform correlator called a complementary-reference joint transform correlator (CRJTC). The difference between the CRJTC and the existingjoint transform correlator is that the CRJTC has an additional complementary reference in the input plane. We use a criterion defined as the ratio of the cross correlation between the target and the reference to the cross correlation between the target and the complementary reference to perform recognition. This ratio can attain its maximum if and only if the reference and the target are matched and if it is stable to the light-source intensity fluctuations; therefore it is unnecessary to normalize the input images. The CRJTC is suitable for the recognition of a binary-amplitude image only. The experimental demonstration of a CRJTC is given.  相似文献

Single-target and multiple-target detections by using a joint transform correlator (JTC) with compressed reference images are experimentally verified. Two high-contrast images with different spatial-frequency content are used as test scenes. Although an effect of the additive noise on detection performance of the proposed correlator is more severe than that of the compression, the experimental results confirm the feasibility of implementing the JTC with compressed reference images.  相似文献
