A series of composite fibers based on poly(ether ether ketone)s (PEEK) and a thermotropic liquid crystalline poly(ether ketone)arylates (PEKAR) have been prepared by melt spinning. The structure, compatibility, and properties of these composite fibers were investigated in detail by rheological measurements, differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis, wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, orientation degree test, and mechanical properties test. The results showed that the addition of PEKAR could reduce the apparent melt viscosity of the blends obviously, which is beneficial in improving the processibility of PEEK at a relatively low temperature. After adding 1 wt % PEKAR to PEEK, the tensile strength of the post‐treatment fiber improved by 8.8%, whereas the crystallinity of the as‐spun fiber increased from 21.76% to 31.51%, and the orientation degree also increased with the addition of PEKAR. The result of morphology research suggested that PEKAR had a good compatibility with PEEK resin. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. Sci. 2014 , 131, 40595.  相似文献

Poly(aryl ether ketone)s (PAEKs) are a class of high‐performance engineering thermoplastics known for their excellent combination of chemical, physical and mechanical properties, and the synthesis of semicrystalline PAEKs with increased glass transition temperatures (Tg) is of much interest. In the work reported, a series of novel copolymers of poly(ether ketone ketone) (PEKK) and poly(ether amide ether amide ether ketone ketone) were synthesized by electrophilic solution polycondensation of terephthaloyl chloride with a mixture of diphenyl ether and N,N′‐bis(4‐phenoxybenzoyl)‐4,4′‐diaminodiphenyl ether (BPBDAE) under mild conditions. The copolymers obtained were characterized using various physicochemical techniques. The copolymers with 10–35 mol% BPBDAE are semicrystalline and have markedly increased Tg over commercially available poly(ether ether ketone) and PEKK due to the incorporation of amide linkages in the main chain. The copolymers with 30–35 mol% BPBDAE not only have high Tg of 178–186 °C, but also moderate melting temperatures of 335–339 °C, having good potential for melt processing. The copolymers with 30–35 mol% BPBDAE have tensile strengths of 102.4–103.8 MPa, Young's moduli of 2.33–2.45 GPa and elongations at break of 11.7–13.2%, and exhibit high thermal stability and good resistance to organic solvents. New monomers, 4,4′‐bis(4‐phenoxybenzoyl)diphenyl (BPOBDP) and N,N′‐bis(4‐phenoxybenzoyl)?4,4′‐diaminodiphenyl ether (BPBDAE), were conveniently synthesized via simple synthetic procedures from readily available materials. Novel copolymers of poly(ether ketone diphenyl ketone ether ketone ketone) (PEKDKEKK) and poly(ether amide ether amide ether ketone ketone) (PEAEAEKK) were synthesized by electrophilic Friedel‐Crafts solution copolycondensation of isophthaloyl chloride (IPC) with a mixture of BPOBDP and BPBDAE, over a wide range of BPOBDP/BPBDAE molar ratios, in the presence of anhydrous AlCl3 and N‐methylpyrrolidone (NMP) in 1,2‐dichloroethane (DCE). The copolymers obtained were characterized by different physico‐chemical techniques. The copolymers with 10–40 mol% BPBDAE are semicrystalline and had remarkably increased Tgs over commercially available PEEK and PEKK due to the incorporation of amide and diphenyl linkages in the main chains. The copolymers IV and V with 30–40 mol% BPBDAE had not only high Tgs of 185–188°C, but also moderate Tms of 326–330°C, having good potential for the melt processing. The copolymers IV and V had tensile strengths of 101.7–102.3 MPa, Young's moduli of 2.19–2.42 GPa, and elongations at break of 13.2–16.6% and exhibited high thermal stability and excellent resistance to organic solvents. The rheological properties of the novel engineering thermoplastic phenophthalein poly(ether ether ketone) (PEK-C) have been investigated using both a rotational and a capillary rheometer. The dependence of the viscosity on the shear rate and temperature was obtained. The activation energy was evaluated both from the Arrhenius and the Williams-Landel-Ferry (WLF) equation. An estimate for the proper Eη (dependent only on the chemical structure of the polymer) has been found from the WLF equation at temperatures about Tg + 200°C. Measurements of the die swell have been performed. The first normal stress differences were evaluated from the die swell results and compared with the values obtained from the rotational rheometer at low shear rates.  相似文献

A new monomer, 1,4‐bis(4‐phenoxybenzoyl)naphthalene (BPOBN), was conveniently synthesized via a simple synthetic procedure from readily available materials. A series of novel copolymers of poly(ether ketone ether ketone ketone) and poly(ether ketone ketone ether ketone ketone) containing 1,4‐naphthylene moieties were prepared by the Friedel‐Crafts acylation solution copolycondensation of terephthaloyl chloride (TPC) with a mixture of BPOBN and 4,4′‐diphenoxybenzophenone (DPOBPN), over a wide range of BPOBN/DPOBPN molar ratios, in the presence of anhydrous AlCl3 and N‐methylpyrrolidone in 1,2‐dichloroethane. The copolymers with 10–40% BPOBN are semicrystalline and had remarkably increased Tgs over the conventional PEEK and PEKK due to the incorporation of 1,4‐naphthylene moieties in the main chains. The copolymers with 30–40 mol% BPOBN had not only high Tgs of 176–177°C, but also moderate Tms of 332–338°C, which are suitable for the melt processing. These polymers had tensile strengths of 101.5–104.7 MPa, Young's moduli of 2.49–2.65 GPa, and elongations at break of 13.3–15.7% and exhibited high thermal stability and excellent resistance to organic solvents. The effect of annealing on the properties of poly(ether ether ketone) has been studied by changing annealing temperature and time. Crystallinity increases with annealing temperature, but is little affected by annealing time. Annealing time results suggest an improved crystalline perfection as annealing time increases. Higher crystallinity levels cause an increase in stress-related properties and a decrease in strain-related properties. Crystalline perfection, however, seems to produce an increase in stress-related properties, but it does not affect strain-related properties. Consideration has also been given to the effect of other possible parameters different from crystalline structure, such as crosslinking, on the variation of properties.  相似文献

2,6‐Diphenoxybenzonitrile (DPOBN) was synthesized by reaction of phenol with 2,6‐difluorobenzonitrile in N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone in the presence of KOH and K2CO3. Poly(aryl ether ketone ketone)/poly(aryl ether ether ketone ketone) copolymers with pendant cyano groups were prepared by the Friedel–Crafts electrophilic substitution reaction of terephthaloyl chloride with varying mole proportions of diphenyl ether and DPOBN using 1,2‐dichloroethane as solvent and N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone as Lewis base in the presence of anhydrous AlCl3. The resulting polymers were characterized by various analytical techniques, such as FT‐IR, differential scanning calorimeter, thermal gravimetric analysis, and wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction. The crystallinity and melting temperature of the polymers were found to decrease with increase in concentration of the DPOBN units in the polymer. Thermogravimetric studies showed that all the polymers were stable up to 514°C in N2 atmosphere. The glass transition temperature was found to increase with increase in concentration of the DPOBN units in the polymer when the molar ratios of DPOBN to DPE ranged from 10/90 to 30/70. The copolymers containing 30–40 mol % of the DPOBN units exhibit excellent thermostability at (350 ± 10)°C and have good resistance to acidity, alkali, and organic solvents. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The influence of CO2 laser radiation on the surface properties of poly(ether ether ketone) (PEEK) is shown. The influence on the surface chemistry is nearly negligible, but the roughness increases and the crystallinity in the surface region decreases with increasing laser intensity. The crystallinity of the surface region was determined by a newly developed procedure using photoacoustic infrared spectroscopy. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Rheological properties of the blends of poly(aryl ether ether ketone) (PEEK) with liquid crystalline poly(aryl ether ketone) containing substituted 3‐trifluoromethylbenzene side group (F‐PAEK), prepared by solution precipitation, have been investigated by rheometer. Dynamic rheological behaviors of the blends under the oscillatory shear mode are strongly dependent on blend composition. For PEEK‐rich blends, the systems show flow curves similar to those of the pure PEEK, i.e., dynamic storage modulus G′ is larger than dynamic loss modulus G″, showing the feature of elastic fluid. For F‐PAEK‐rich systems, the rheological behavior of the blends has a resemblance to pure F‐PAEK, i.e., G″ is greater than G′, showing the characteristic of viscous fluid. When the PEEK content is in the range of 50–70%, the blends exhibit an unusual rheological behavior, which is the result of phase inversion between the two components. Moreover, as a whole, the complex viscosity values of the blends are between those of two pure polymers and decrease with increasing F‐PAEK content. However, at 50% weight fraction of PEEK, the viscosity‐composition curves exhibit a local maximum, which may be mainly attributed to the phase separation of two components at such a composition. The changes of G′ and G″ with composition show a trend similar to that of complex viscosity. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci 102: 4040–4044, 2006  相似文献

Poly(ether ether ketone ketone)-poly(ether sulfone) (PEEKK/PES) block copolymers were prepared from the corresponding oligomers via a nucleophilic aromatic substitution reaction, and the M n of the PEEKK segment was fixed at 12,000, while the M n's of the PES segment ranged from 250 to 12,680. The different properties of the copolymers were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), wide-angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA). The results showed that the relationship between Tg and compositions of copolymers approximately followed the formula 1/Tg = W2/Tg2. The PES content and the segment length of the copolymers had a significant influence on their melting points and crystallization behavior. The thermal properties and dynamic mechanical behavior of the copolymers were also studied. In the study of isothermal crystallization, the copolymers have the same nucleation mechanism and crystal growth as that of pure PEEKK. Owing to the introduction of the PES segment into the PEEKK main chain, it increases the free energy which forms the critical crystal nucleus and produces a resistant action to the whole crystallization process of the PEEKK segment. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

4,4′‐bis(Phenoxy)diphenyl sulfone (DPODPS) was synthesized by reaction of phenol with bis(4‐chlorophenyl) sulfone in tetramethylene sulfone in the presence of NaOH. Two poly(aryl ether sulfone ether ketone ketone)s (PESKKs) with high molecular weight were prepared by low temperature solution polycondensation of DPODPS and terephthaloyl chloride (TPC) or isophthaloyl chloride (IPC), respectively, in 1,2‐dichloroethane and in the presence of aluminum chloride (AlCl3) and N‐methylpyrrolidone (NMP). The resulting polymers were characterized by various analytical techniques, such as FT‐IR, 1H‐NMR, DSC, TG, and WAXD. The results show that the Tg and Td of PESEKKs are much higher, but its Tm is lower than those of PEKK. The other results indicate that PESEKKs exhibit excellent thermostabilities at 300 ± 10°C. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci 96: 489–493, 2005  相似文献

Stress relaxation and dynamic mechanical behavior of phenolphthalein poly(ether ketone) (PEK-C) have been investigated. Using Ferry's reduction method, the master curve was obtained. From the experimental results, we found that the WLF equation is not appropriate in the lower-temperature range (T < Tg). The relaxation spectrum was calculated according to the first approximation method proposed by Schwarzl and Staverman. In addition to the α-transition region, a second transition zone is revealed at low temperature. This transition is probably due to a restricted motion of its main chain. © 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

A new monomer, N,N′‐bis(4‐phenoxybenzoyl)‐m‐phenylenediamine (BPPD), was prepared by condensation of m‐phenylenediamine with 4‐phenoxybenzoyl chloride in N,N‐dimethylacetamide (DMAc). A series of novel poly(ether amide ether ketone) (PEAEK)/poly(ether ketone ketone) (PEKK) copolymers were synthesized by the electrophilic Friedel‐Crafts solution copolycondensation of terephthaloyl chloride (TPC) with a mixture of diphenyl ether (DPE) and BPPD, over a wide range of DPE/BPPD molar ratios, in the presence of anhydrous AlCl3 and N‐methylpyrrolidone (NMP) in 1,2‐dichloroethane (DCE). The influence of reaction conditions on the preparation of copolymers was examined. The copolymers obtained were characterized by different physicochemical techniques. The copolymers with 10–25 mol % BPPD were semicrystalline and had remarkably increased Tgs over commercially available PEEK and PEKK due to the incorporation of amide linkages in the main chains. The copolymers III and IV with 20–25 mol % BPPD had not only high Tgs of 184–188°C, but also moderate Tms of 323–344°C, having good potential for the melt processing. The copolymers III and IV had tensile strengths of 103.7–105.3 MPa, Young's moduli of 3.04–3.11 GPa, and elongations at break of 8–9% and exhibited outstanding thermal stability and good resistance to organic solvents. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The melting behavior of semicrystalline poly(ether ether ketone ketone) (PEEKK) has been studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). When PEEKK is annealed from the amorphous state, it usually shows two melting peaks. The upper melting peaks arise first, and the lower melting peaks are developed later. The upper melting peaks shown in the DSC thermogram are the combination (addition) of three parts: initial crystal formed before scanning; reorganization; and melting-recrystallization of lower melting peaks in the DSC scanning period. In the study of isothermal crystallization kinetics, the Avrami equation was used to analyze the primary process of the isothermal crystallization; the Avrami constant, n, is about 2 for PEEKK from the melt and 1.5 for PEEKK from the glass state. According to the Lauritzen-Hoffman equation, the kinetic parameter of PEEKK from the melt is 851.5 K; the crystallization kinetic parameter of PEEKK is higher than that of PEEK, and suggests the crystallizability of PEEKK is less than that of PEEK. The study of crystallization on PEEKK under nonisothermal conditions is also reported for cooling rates from 2.5°C/min to 40°C/min, and the nonisothermal condition was studied by Mandelkern analysis. The results show the nonisothermal crystallization is different from the isothermal crystallization. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

A novel poly(phthalazinone ether ketone ketone) was prepared via the nucleophilic substitution polycondensation of bis-1,4-(4-chlorobenzoyl)benzene and 4-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-2,3-phthalazin-1-one. The synthesized polymer exhibited high glass-transition temperature, excellent thermooxidative properties, and fair rheological properties. The polymer was soluble in some polar solvents. Electronic friction and membrane properties are also discussed. The results indicate that the polymer falls in the class of high temperature resistance engineering plastics. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci 82: 823–826, 2001  相似文献

Structural studies of poly(aryl ether ether ketone ketone) (PEEKK) using small-angle X-ray scattering and one-dimensional electron density correlation function methods revealed that its aggregated state structure was significantly influenced by the annealing temperature. The long period L, the average thickness of the lamellae d, the electron density difference between the crystalline and amorphous regions ηc − ηa, and the invariant Q increased with increasing annealing temperature, but it was opposite to the case of the specific inner surfaces Os. A transition zone existed between the traditional “two phases” with a dimension about 0.5 nm for semicrystalline PEEKK. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci 69: 1829–1835, 1998  相似文献

Silane-terminated poly(ether ether ketone) oligomers were synthesized and grafted onto wollastonite (W) particles. The prepared grafted-wollastonite particles (g-W) were then incorporated into PEEK matrix via melt processing. Properties of the PEEK composites were investigated using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), universal tester and rheometer. The researchers found the mechanical properties of the PEEK/g-W composites were markedly enhanced, complex viscosity of the PEEK/g-W composites increased, and both the peak crystallization temperature (T c ) and crystalline fraction (χ c ) of the PEEK composites with g-W were significant higher compared with those of the PEEK composites with W. It is our belief that these results are due to the strong interaction between the grafted-wollastonite particles and the PEEK matrix.  相似文献

The thermal properties of blends of poly(ether ether ketone) (PEEK) and poly(ether imide) (PEI) prepared by screw extrusion were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry. From the thermal analysis of amorphous PEEK–PEI blends which were obtained by quenching in liquid nitrogen, a single glass transition temperature (Tg) and negative excess heat capacities of mixing were observed with the blend composition. These results indicate that there is a favorable interaction between the PEEK and PEI in the blends and that there is miscibility between the two components. From the Lu and Weiss equation and a modified equation from this work, the polymer–polymer interaction parameter (χ12) of the amorphous PEEK–PEI blends was calculated and found to range from −0.058 to −0.196 for the extruded blends with the compositions. The χ12 values calculated from this work appear to be lower than the χ12 values calculated from the Lu and Weiss equation. The χ12 values calculated from the Tg method both ways decreased with increase of the PEI weight fraction. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci 72: 733–739, 1999  相似文献

A series of modified poly(ether ether ketone) (PEEK) polymers were synthesized by introduction of addition ether groups from dihydroxydiphenyl ether (DHDE) into the PEEK structure. The inherent viscosity of the DHDE-modified PEEK increased with reaction time at 320 °C. DSC thermograms showed the melting points of the obtained PEEK decreased with the increase of the DHDE content in the backbone. The degradation temperature (Td) was slightly decreased by the introduction of DHDE. The crystallinity as measured via the X-ray diffraction (XRD) increases with the introduction of DHDE into the modified PEEK. The crystalline structure was identified as an orthorhombic structure with lattice constants a = 7.72 Å, b = 5.86 Å, and c = 10.24 Å. Due to the glass transition temperature (Tg) and the melting temperature (Tm) decreasing with the increase of the DHDE content in the reaction system. the processability of the resultant PEEK could be improved through this DHDE modification.  相似文献

2,6‐Bis(β‐naphthoxy)benzonitrile (BNOBN) was synthesized by reaction of β‐naphthol with 2,6‐difluorobenzonitrile in N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone (NMP) in the presence of KOH and K2CO3. Poly(ether ketone ether ketone ketone)(PEKEKK) /poly(ether ether ketone ketone) (PEEKK) copolymers containing naphthalene and pendant cyano groups were obtained by electrophilic Friedel‐Crafts polycondensation of terephthaloyl chloride (TPC) with varying mole proportions of 4,4′‐diphenoxybenzophenone (DPOBP) and 2,6‐bis(β‐naphthoxy)benzonitrile (BNOBN) using 1,2‐dichloroethane (DCE) as solvent and NMP as Lewis base in the presence of anhydrous AlCl3. The resulting polymers were characterized by various analytical techniques, such as FTIR, DSC, TG, and WAXD. The results indicated that the crystallinity and melting temperature of the polymers decreased with increase in concentration of the BNOBN units in the polymer, the glass transition temperature of the polymers increased with increase in concentration of the BNOBN units in the polymer. Thermogravimetric studies showed that all the polymers were stable up to 536°C in N2 atmosphere. The copolymers have good resistance to acidity, alkali, and organic solvents. Because of the melting temperature (Tm) depression with increase in the BNOBN content in the reaction system, the processability of the resultant coplymers could be effectively improved. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
