The personalization in knowledge portals and knowledge management systems is mainly performed based on users' explicitly specified categories and keywords. The explicit specification approach requires users' participation to start personalization services, and has limitation to adapt changes of users' preference. This paper suggests two implicit personalization approaches: automatic user category assignment method and automatic keyword profile generation method. The performances of the implicit personalization approaches are compared with traditional personalization approach using an Internet news site experiment. The result of the experiment shows that the suggested personalization approaches provide sufficient recommendation effectiveness with lessening users'unwanted involvement in personalization process.  相似文献

Recommender systems provide strategies that help users search or make decisions within the overwhelming information spaces nowadays. They have played an important role in various areas such as e-commerce and e-learning. In this paper, we propose a hybrid recommendation strategy of content-based and knowledge-based methods that are flexible for any field to apply. By analyzing the past rating records of every user, the system learns the user’s preferences. After acquiring users’ preferences, the semantic search-and-discovery procedure takes place starting from a highly rated item. For every found item, the system evaluates the Interest Intensity indicating to what degree the user might like it. Recommender systems train a personalized estimating module using a genetic algorithm for each user, and the personalized estimating model helps improve the precision of the estimated scores. With the recommendation strategies and personalization strategies, users may have better recommendations that are closer to their preferences. In the latter part of this paper, a real-world case, a movie-recommender system adopting proposed recommendation strategies, is implemented.  相似文献

Smartphones are increasingly being used to store personal information as well as to access sensitive data from the Internet and the cloud. Establishment of the identity of a user requesting information from smartphones is a prerequisite for secure systems in such scenarios. In the past, keystroke-based user identification has been successfully deployed on production-level mobile devices to mitigate the risks associated with naïve username/password based authentication. However, these approaches have two major limitations: they are not applicable to services where authentication occurs outside the domain of the mobile device—such as web-based services; and they often overly tax the limited computational capabilities of mobile devices. In this paper, we propose a protocol for keystroke dynamics analysis which allows web-based applications to make use of remote attestation and delegated keystroke analysis. The end result is an efficient keystroke-based user identification mechanism that strengthens traditional password protected services while mitigating the risks of user profiling by collaborating malicious web services. We present a prototype implementation of our protocol using the popular Android operating system for smartphones.  相似文献

Several future operators of the mobile handheld telephone (P-service) satellite communications systems are gearing up for system implementation to compete for the mobile handheld telephone market of the future. While these companies are proceeding with system realization, they are also looking for partners to finance these huge satellite projects. Potential partners or bulk users are administrations of national communication systems and operators of national communication satellites. These future partners ask themselves which P-service satellite communication system they should choose. There is not an easy answer because P-service satellite systems come in many varieties. There are the low altitude earth orbiting satellites (LEOs), the medium altitude earth orbiting satellites (MEOs), and the geosynchronous altitude earth orbiting satellites (GEOs). Each system has a different type of satellite repeater: digital regenerative, transparent digital, and the bent-pipe. And each satellite system uses its own modulation/multiple access system. The fact that satellites circle the earth at different altitudes has an impact on speech quality, and, because systems vary in satellite as well as constellation complexity, there are different price tags attached. All systems display ingenious features and will eventually work. Mobile users will decide which system will best serve their purposes. This article attempts to compare six P-service satellite systems and find a method for system selection. By use of self-established system criteria, it is possible to arrive at a P-service system selection. By weighing the system criteria, the sensitivity of system selection can be tested. The results or the selection of a particular system should not be considered a recommendation; rather, the process of selection should be used as a possible guideline.  相似文献

As the evolution of mobile technology, mobile devices have become an essential tool in people's daily life. Moreover, with the rapid growth of Internet and mobile networks, people can easily access various services provided by mobile platforms. Many services can be executed on the mobile devices with various mobile applications launched to mobile platforms. People can choose what they like to install in their mobile devices and hence make their life more convenient, entertaining, and productive. However, there are too many mobile applications for users to choose. The goal of this research is to propose a methodology which can recommend top-N lists for mobile applications. A comment correlation matrix is proposed. Furthermore, a recommendation algorithm for mobile applications based on user comments and key attributes is built. With the proposed method, it outperforms Google play and is closer to user real feelings.  相似文献

Tourism is an information-intensive business. At present, there are a lot of information and tourism resources available on the internet that lead to low searching efficiency and effectiveness, the user may get too many seeking results but not related to his interest, or few results than his expected. The user can know clearly what he wants, but sometime the user doesn’t know what kind information he needs. User’s demand can be formulated as direct demand and potential preference. At the same time, the study shows that there is strong relationship between the traveler’s potential preference and the characteristics of tourism resources. In order to solve the information overload challenge, recommendation services are increasingly emerging. Currently, recommendation methods focus on dealing with personalized matching based on the user preference. However, these methods skip the user’s direct demand. In this paper, we propose ontology-driven recommendation strategies based on user’s context. The strategies use ontology to describe and integrate tourism resources, achieve the goal of associating user’s direct needs and his potential preference as the context in recommendation. Moreover, theoretical analysis and experiments show that the proposed approach is feasible, the results of the evaluation are discussed.  相似文献

Developing widely useful mobile computing applications presents difficult challenges. On one hand, mobile users demand intuitive user interfaces, fast response times, and deep relevant content. On the other hand, mobile devices have limited processing, storage, power, display, and communication resources. Vindigo has taken a technology-intensive approach to meeting these challenges and has created personal navigation tools that many people find useful in their everyday lives. Vindigo's Palm OS application, introduced in March 2000, has hundreds of thousands of users and continues to attract new users rapidly. This article presents some of the technology behind Vindigo. To provide context, it first gives an overview of a typical user session. It then discusses special demands and constraints placed on mobile applications, and enumerates design principles drawn from these considerations. The rest of the article describes technology developed at Vindigo according to those principles. Throughout, it emphasizes techniques that have proven effective in delivering location-based services on today's handheld devices.  相似文献

Tourist recommendation services provide suggestions for places of interest. While the spatial structure of a tourist's visit has been successfully exploited to improve the quality of place recommendations, its temporal structure has not been taken into account so far. This is surprising because the importance of the visitors' time management is well known from tourism research. We present findings of an empirical study that sheds light on the temporal aspects of tourist exploration behaviour and discuss implications for the design of tourist-recommender systems. The data-set consists of interviews, GPS tracks and geo-referenced photo sequences from visitors of a typical Middle European destination for cultural tourism. Among the results relevant to place recommending are the following: (1) the set of places is often replanned during the visit; (2) comparing place popularity based on photo frequency and place popularity based on staying time, we found notable differences in rank ordering; and (3) the photo frequency and the detour sinuosity of the GPS tracks are decreasing slowly over time. We interpret this last finding as a time-geographic cone effect. Based on the empirical results, we discuss the implications for the design of tourist-recommending services and propose a corresponding user interface utilising a recommendation strategy that tries to counterbalance the time-geographic cone effect, that is, to decelerate the visiting experience.  相似文献

This investigation presents an agent-based smart (ABS) home system that automates home-service operations. The ABS home system comprises three subsystems, namely user interface, home gateway, and home functionality. ABS home users can request services with handheld devices through an ABS user interface, and receive them through an agent cooperation mechanism. This investigation has designed three agents and implemented them in the agent platform: the manager agent schedules the service processes; the service agent manages service requests, and the task agent executes service operations. With home-functionality subsystems including location servers, message centers, and multimedia centers in ABS homes, services are conveniently provided, efficient, and comfortably manipulated. The Universal Plug and Play feature adopts IP network technology to control, manage, and transfer data among functionality devices in ABS homes. The proposed service-scheduling mechanism provides services that are conveniently provided, efficient, and comfortably manipulated. This study presents an implementation of the ABS home system to illustrate the feasibility of the proposed architecture. The study also presents a performance evaluation to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed mechanism.  相似文献

The rapid increase in the complexity and the extent of personalization of services in the Internet of Things (IoT) has led to a greater demand for frequent collaboration among heterogeneous devices. Moreover, with the inseparable relations between human and devices, the paradigm of Social IoT (SIoT) is gaining popularity in recent years. How to effectively facilitate the access to quality services and credible devices in large‐scale networks via defining, establishing, and managing social architectures among things has become a critical issue. In this paper, a scheme of access service recommendation for the SIoT is presented with the understanding of inherent constraints and factors that influence the security and stability of IoT networks. In which, timeliness properties are considered in each transaction for dynamic performance enhancements. With the benefits of promoting service discovery and composition, social relationships among things are introduced in the proposed scheme. An energy‐aware mechanism is also utilized as a restrictive factor in trustworthiness evaluation. Finally, the recommendation is based not only on the past performance but also on the social relationship and the energy status of nodes. Simulation experiments demonstrate the effectiveness and benefits of our scheme from three aspects including rating accuracy, dynamic behavior, and network stability. Service providers, especially in the mobile entertainment domain, are facing increasing competition. The ability to design, develop, and deploy unique context-aware entertainment services fast and easily as well as the capability to provide intuitive user interfaces becomes essential for market players. Furthermore, today's mobile world is made up of heterogeneous networks accessible via various devices with different characteristics. Progressive users have the desire to utilize the same services and access the same information content on all available devices. At the same time, service providers have to diversify their services in order to remain competitive and attract the various customer segments making up the mass market. We introduce an agent-based serviceware framework to assist service providers in developing innovative services, thus reducing the time to market of the respective applications. The realized serviceware framework offers personalization, location awareness, and the multi-access service platform, a flexible solution for ubiquitous service access. Thus, our solution allows a heterogeneous landscape of end devices to access an application server's mobile services in a multimodal, multilingual, and multimedia-based manner. We describe the utilization of the different modules of the service framework as well as the BerlinTainment application, an entertainment planning system based on the framework.  相似文献

The acceptance of next-generation mobile communication systems depends to a large extent on the services and applications that can be offered to customers. Tailoring the services to actual user needs is considered to be crucial for the success of future wireless technology. The individual user, "I", has to be put in the center of service provisioning. In this article, we report the work developed by the Working Group 2 of the Wireless World Research Forum on a service infrastructure framework for the future wireless world. Converged services are attractive for both consumers and operators, as they can offer seamless access across a wide range of networks and devices. In order to support convergence, end-user devices must support a minimum set of hardware and software functionality. The growth of open operating systems on mobile devices offers the possibility of providing converged services on common, off-the-shelf devices. This paper describes the benefits of such an approach. It also looks at the hardware and software requirements for such a device, and the current level of support for them. Potential pitfalls are discussed, including market fragmentation, software integration and control over the user experience. Finally, future developments are considered, including the evolution of the open operating systems, their push into lower-end devices, and their ability to support next generation networks.  相似文献

The article discusses why only programmable handheld devices can do the job of any 10 different gizmos. The development of a chameleon-like handheld device is also described. The programmable logic device (PLD), a semiconductor containing a personalization memory and logic elements, can make it possible to have a pocket-electronics device consolidated with a number of features including adaptability to any network, capability to fit new standards, and having an upgradeable security system for the latest virus. Conventional PLDs are big, slow, power hungry, and expensive, but, like the microprocessors, PLDs can evolve in time into higher-level logic primitives that make them suitable for untethered applications.  相似文献

Wireless networks are characterized by simple end devices and limited bandwidth. One solution to address these and other limitations of the wireless mobile environment that has been widely pursued is the placement of proxies, or agents, inside the network to assist with application processing that would normally take place on end devices. These agents can additionally manipulate data to reduce bandwidth requirements and assist in providing services. The design and implementation of a user agent is heavily impacted by the application it supports. In this paper we present our experiences with user agents in two different types of applications: telephony-based Personal Communication Services (PCS) and two-way messaging. To provide low latency service, the PCS user agents are mobile so that they may be kept close to their end devices. The design of the PCS agents limits migration overhead to the transfer of approximately 100 bytes of information in about 150 milliseconds. To provide advanced messaging services, the messaging user agent supports flexible messages while limiting air interface bandwidth usage. The messaging agents reduce uplink bandwidth usage by approximately 35% when applied to a cellular PCS system, and reduce message payloads by 97%. 近年来,在线社交网络成为人们工作、生活不可或缺的信息共享与交流工具,如何对海量庞杂、大范围时空关联的用户行为信息进行认知并据此提供个性化的推荐服务,已成为在线社交网络发展重点关注的问题。为此,提出了一种基于用户行为认知的在线社交网络协同推荐框架,在对用户特征、文本信息及兴趣偏好等行为进行认知的基础上,利用协同过滤算法,实现个性化的推荐服务。实验结果验证了提出的基于用户行为认知的协同推荐策略具有较好的稳定性和实际应用效果。  相似文献

Provision of telecommunication services by means of high-altitude platforms (HAPs) is becoming a relevant topic of interest for the research activities on future-generation systems. Mobility on demand, large coverage, and payload reconfigurability are only some examples of the expected benefits for personal communication systems based on the use of such platforms. The research regarding the use of HAPs for communications has so far neglected that they are also a privileged infrastructure for the provision of navigation and positioning services. They can act as augmentation infrastructures for global navigation satellite systems such as GPS and the future Galileo, easily performing direction of arrival estimation thanks to their high position, collecting and broadcasting position information. Despite these interesting services, the real added value is in the fact that their payload can easily integrate both communication and navigation services, with mutual benefits for both systems. Hospitals are convenient settings for deployment of ubiquitous computing technology. Not only are they technology-rich environments, but their workers experience a high level of mobility resulting in information infrastructures with artifacts distributed throughout the premises. Hospital information systems (HISs) that provide access to electronic patient records are a step in the direction of providing accurate and timely information to hospital staff in support of adequate decision-making. This has motivated the introduction of mobile computing technology in hospitals based on designs which respond to their particular conditions and demands. Among those conditions is the fact that worker mobility does not exclude the need for having shared information artifacts particular locations. In this paper, we extend a handheld-based mobile HIS with ubiquitous computing technology and describe how public displays are integrated with handheld and the services offered by these devices. Public displays become aware of the presence of physicians and nurses in their vicinity and adapt to provide users with personalized, relevant information. An agent-based architecture allows the integration of proactive components that offer information relevant to the case at hand, either from medical guidelines or previous similar cases.  相似文献
