Systematic approaches for the design of mixtures, based on a computer‐aided mixture/blend design (CAMbD) framework, have the potential to deliver better products and processes. In most existing methodologies the number of mixture ingredients is fixed (usually a binary mixture) and the identity of at least one compound is chosen from a given set of candidate molecules. A novel CAMbD methodology is presented for formulating the general mixture design problem where the number, identity and composition of mixture constituents are optimized simultaneously. To this end, generalized disjunctive programming is integrated into the CAMbD framework to formulate the discrete choices. This generic methodology is applied to a case study to find an optimal solvent mixture that maximizes the solubility of ibuprofen. Adrenomedullin (AM) is a peptidic hormone that was isolated in 1993, the function of which is related to several diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and cancer. Compound 1 is one of the first nonpeptidic small-molecule negative modulators of AM, identified in a high-throughput screen carried out at the National Cancer Institute. Herein we report the synthesis of a series of analogues of 1. The ability of the synthesized compounds to disrupt the binding between AM and its monoclonal antibody has been measured, together with surface plasmon resonance (SPR)-based binding assays as implemented with Biacore technology. These data were used to derive a three-dimensional quantitative structure-activity relationship (3D-QSAR) model, with a q(2) (LOO) value of 0.8240. This study has allowed us to identify relevant features for effective binding to AM: the presence of a hydrogen-bond donor group and an aromatic ring. Evaluation of the ability of selected compounds to modify cAMP production in Rat2 cells showed that the presence of a free carboxylic acid is essential for negative AM modulation.  相似文献

Colour management is ubiquitous in the digital world. However, despite the many advances in colour management over the last couple of decades, it remains an imperfect process. In the art and design community there is often a level of dissatisfaction and deep cynicism about colour management that can lead to lac of engagement with the process. This research explores colour management in a design context though three issues: the gamut issue, the intuitive issue and the engagement issue; each relates to areas where colour management could better connect with tacit design knowhow. The work focusses on the selection of colour in a digital context since for many users this is the first touch point that they have with colour management. Psychophysical studies have been carried out in both laboratory and design‐studio settings. It is shown that users can better predict the results from subtractive colour mixing than from additive colour mixing. The performance of various types of colour picker are explored and consequences for the design of user interfaces are discussed.  相似文献

Copper and copper alloys (bronze and brass) are usually employed in the manufacturing of cultural objects. When these alloys are exposed to the atmosphere, damaging corrosion products may form on their surfaces. Corrosion inhibitors are used to minimize the corrosion processes. However, the conditions that obtain the best anticorrosive performance of these inhibitors require the control of several chemical and operational parameters, which are, in practice, often chosen empirically. An experimental design was employed to determine the best values with respect to the concentration of 2-amino-5-mercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole (AMT), the ethanol content and the immersion time of bronze in the AMT solution to achieve the most protective films on the bronze surface. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy assays of bronze samples with and without previous immersion in the inhibitor solution and exposed to artificial rainwater were performed at the open circuit potential. The parameters and the influence of their interactions on the inhibitory effect of the film formed on the bronze surface were shown to be statistically significant. The conditions for achieving the most protective films were 0.060 M AMT, 90% v/v EtOH, and 90 min of immersion.  相似文献

In the area of nonlinear predictive control, several control schemes using artificial neural networks have been proposed. In this work, the issues relating to the information contents of the data used to train the neural network components of these nonlinear predictive control schemes are considered. This raises questions about the design of experiments. A class of feedback-feedforward nonlinear controller based on the model predictive structure (also known as Internal Model Control, IMC, structure) is investigated. The implementation and performance of these neural network based controllers, together with comparisons to other nonlinear and linear controllers, are illustrated on two nonlinear continuous-stirred-tank-reactor simulations.  相似文献
