Shandong Ocean Chemicals Co. to Construct 100kt/a EthylAcetate Project

Shandong Ocean Chemicals Limited Liability Company hasdecided to invest 900 million RMB in construction of a 100kt/a ethyl acetate unit,a 50kt/a aniline unit and a 40kt/a me-thyl chlorides unit.The total investment in ethyl acetate andaniline project will amount to about 720 million RMB,and theinvestment in methyl chlorides project will reach 194 millionRMB.The construction cycle of these units will span twoyears.

700 kt/a Ethylene Revamp Project Came on Stream at Lanzhou Petrochemical Co.

On November 20, 2006 the core unit of the 700 kt/a ethylene revamp project-the 460 kt/a ethylene unit-had been put on stream successfully at the first attempt at the Lanzhou Petrochemical Company. The proposal on setting up the 700 kt/a ethylene revamp project, including a 700 kt/a ethylene unit, a 200 kt/a LDPE unit, a 300 kt/a LLDPE unit, a 300 kt/a PP unit, a pyrogasoline hydrotreating unit and a butadiene extraction unit, has been approved by the State Council with the investment totaling around 7.0 billion RMB. The overall process technology of ethylene production has reached the first quartile level inside China. The ethylene unit has adopted the unique inside China de-ethanation technique, the online decoking technique, the advanced extraction tower technique and the short process scheme for hydrotreating before depropanization. The PP unit can make more than 100 grades of polypropylene, while the LDPE unit can manufacture 16 grades of PE.     

Startup of the 100 kt/a DME Unit at Hebei Zhongjie Petrochemical Company

The 100 kt/a DME unit was successfully started up at Hebei Zhongjie Petrochemical Company. This unit which adopts the patented technology for dehydration of methanol to dimethyl ether licensed by the CAS Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics was designed by the Donghua Engineering Company. The DME unit operates smoothly delivering a product with stable purity equating to over 99.5% DME.     

Construction of 100 kt/a Propylene Oxide Unit Kicked Off at Jinpu-Jinhu Co.

The construction of a 100 kt/a propylene oxide integrated unit owned by Nanjing Jinpu-Jinhu Petrochemical Company, Ltd. was kicked off in Nanjing Chemical Industry Park in November 2006. The planned investment in this project will total around 200 million RMB funded jointly by Korean Jinhu Petrochemical Co., Ltd. and Jiangsu Jinpu Group Co. in two phases. The construction of phase I project, including an 100 kt/a propylene oxide unit, a 50 kt/a polyether polyol unit and an 100 kt/a caustic soda unit, will be completed and commissioned by the end of 2007. The phase Ⅱ project is slated to form a 200 kt/a propylene oxide unit, a 200 kt/a polyether polyol unit and a 200 kt/a caustic soda unit and an 175 kt/a chlorine unit.

The 160 kt/a MDI Unit Successfully Put on Stream at Wanhua Co. in Ningbo

In January 2006 the project ＂Technology for manufacture of 160 kt/a MDI＂ developed by Yantai Wanhua Polyurethane Co., Ltd. had passed the experts＇ appraisal organized by Shandong Provincial Science and Technology Department. The 160 kt/a MDI unit, constructed in Daxie Island of Ningbo city using this technology, has been successfully started up at the first attempt.     

Pre-commissioning of 120 kt/a Unit for Hydrotreating Crude Coke Oven Benzene Implemented at Baoyuan Chemical Company

The unit for manufacture of MTBE with co-production of butene-1 was successfully put on stream at Guangzhou Petrochemical Complex （GPC）. It is told that this is the first domestic unit that utilizes the refinery C4 fraction to make MTBE and butene-1. The existing 40 kt/a MTBE was retrofitted into the unit for manufacture of MTBE with co-production of butene-1,

Shanghai Coke Chemical Co. Kicked off Construction of 450kt/a Methanol Unit in Wujing

Shanghai Coke Chemical Company, Ltd. has kicked off the construction of a 450kt/a methanol unit in Wujing, Shanghai. This project will operate on coal, using a gasification unit licensed by GE coupled with an independently developed methanol unit. This project is slated for completion and startup by the end of 2007. Currently Shanghai Coke Chemical Company boasts two methanol units in Wujing with a total production capacity of 360 kt/a.
