The concept of hard particles in a softer metal matrix has long appealed to number of industries dealing among others with drilling and mining. For these facilities, the PTA (Plasma Transferred Arc) alloying technique is advisable and advantageous for several reasons; the equipment may be portable and moved near the working site, the treatment may be applied strictly to the area where the wear problem is situated and after the treatment little machining is required. Four different coatings are tested against three different modes of wear occurring either alone or less frequently combined in this kind of applications, i.e. adhesion, low stress abrasion and two-body abrasion. Two of the coatings examined belong to the category of tool steels with very hard carbides in their microstructure, namely TiC, M2C and M6C. The other two are boride coatings belonging to the Fe–B and Fe–Cr–B system respectively. A heat treated AISI D2 tool steel commonly used in this type of applications is also examined for comparison. Fe–Cr–B coating performance is at least 2 times better in low stress and two-body abrasion and four orders of magnitude better in adhesion wear than the AISI D2 tool steel. Fe–B coating can be used in pure adhesion or abrasion situations, but their brittleness forbids their use in situations involving impact loading. AISI M2 coating presents similar wear performance with AISI D2 tool steel in abrasion, whereas in adhesion wear it performs at least two orders of magnitude better. MMC–TiC coating has good performance in pure two-body abrasion situations due to the presence of the very hard TiC particles in its microstructure.  相似文献

采用激光熔覆技术在45钢样品表面制备了Ni/TiC复合涂层,利用光学显微镜、SEM,EDS,XRD、显微镜硬度计及摩擦磨损试验机等检测设备研究了Ni/TiC复合涂层的组织和性能。试验结果表明:Ni/TiC复合涂层没有出现裂纹、孔洞等缺陷,涂层与基体之间具有良好的冶金结合,涂层显微硬度沿层深皆呈明显的阶梯状分布,最外表面的熔覆层硬度最高,约为800 HV;熔覆试样的比磨损率比基体试样的比磨损率下降了86.5%,表明Ni/TiC复合涂层具有较好的耐磨性能。  相似文献

Tribological experiments on phenol–formaldehyde composite reinforced with polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and glass fibers were performed against 100Cr6 steel and TiC/a-C:H thin film-coated 100Cr6 steel. In both cases, the coefficient of friction increases with increasing sliding distance until a steady-state value is reached. Although the steady-state values of the coefficient of friction are very close and ultralow, the wear rate of the PTFE composite liner at a long sliding distance (1,000 m) is reduced when the steel ball is coated with the TiC/a-C:H coating. This behavior is mainly attributed to the smoother surface after long sliding and the improved wear resistance of TiC/a-C:H coating. PTFE transfer films are evident on the surfaces of the hard counterparts. The average thickness of the transfer film on TiC/a-C:H-coated surfaces is about 3.8 nm. On the surface of uncoated steel ball, a continuous but non-uniform transfer film of around 13.9 nm average thickness was found.  相似文献

用复合电沉积工艺制备了纳米和微米La2O3颗粒增强镍基复合镀层,在销盘式滑动磨损试验机上考察了复合镀层在干摩擦条件下的摩擦磨损性能,用扫描电子显微镜分析了其磨损机理。结果表明:在干摩擦条件下,纳米La2O3颗粒增强复合镀层的摩擦磨损性能明显优于微米La2O3颗粒增强复合镀层;纳米La2O3增强镍基复合镀层的磨损主要表现为轻微磨粒磨损特征,而微米La2O3增强镍基复合镀层的磨损机制为剥层磨损和磨粒磨损。  相似文献

Titanium (Ti) and Ti-based alloy wear performance is often poor unless coating or lubricants are used. An alternative is to use hard phase reinforcement. Cold spray is a relatively new method to deposit composite coatings, where here we report the deposition of a Ti–TiC coating and its sliding wear behavior. Mixtures of mechanically blended Ti–TiC with various TiC content were injected into a de Laval nozzle and sprayed onto substrates. Two composite coatings and a pure Ti coating are reported here, where the as-sprayed compositions of the composites were 13.8 and 33.4 vol% TiC. Reciprocating dry sliding wear was performed using a custom-built in situ tribometer. All tests were conducted with a sliding speed of 3 mm/s and at a normal load of 0.5 N. Using a transparent sapphire hemisphere of 6.25 mm as counterface, dynamic behavior of third bodies was directly observed. It was found that adhesive transfer of Ti was the primary wear mechanism for the Ti coating, with oxidative and abrasive wear also occurring for longer sliding cycles. The superior wear resistance of the composite coatings compared to Ti was related to dual function of TiC particles, where they reinforced the Ti matrix and facilitated the formation of a stable and protective tribofilms. The tribofilms contained carbonaceous material that provided easier shear and lower friction. The formation of these tribofilms was highly dependent on the TiC particles, which contained excess carbon compared to the equilibrium composition. Higher TiC content was more effective in quickly developing and sustaining the tribofilms.  相似文献

利用火焰喷涂法制备PA1010/n-SiO2复合涂层,并采用均匀试验设计方法研究涂层在干摩擦条件下同GCr15 钢环配副时的摩擦学性能;利用SPSS 12.0统计软件对试验结果进行回归分析, 建立涂层摩擦系数和磨损质量损失同pv值 (摩擦载荷与摩擦速度的乘积)相关性的数学模型;利用示差扫描量热仪(Differential scanning calorimetry, DSC)和扫描电子显微镜(Scanning electron microscope, SEM)对复合涂层的热性能和磨损表面形貌进行分析。结果表明,n-SiO2的加入能明显提高涂层的结晶性能、耐磨性能。当n-SiO2含量为1.5%时,复合涂层摩擦磨损性能最佳,在试验条件下磨损质量损失降低近4倍,摩擦因数降低23%,跑合期缩短44%,复合涂层与GCr15钢环对磨时的磨损机理主要为疲劳磨损和轻微的粘附 磨损。  相似文献

This investigation deals with the influence of hardfacing En31 steel separately with Fe–TiC composite and commercial cobalt base (stellite 6) material on their sliding wear behaviour at 2.94 m/s speed and varying applied pressures. Wear response of the samples was substantiated through the scanning electron microscopic studies of the wear surfaces, subsurface regions and debris particles. The hardfaced samples revealed superior wear performance than that of the substrate. Further, the steel hardfaced with cobalt-based stellite offered higher wear resistance over the one overlayed with Fe–TiC composite. The applied pressure controlled the wear behaviour (rate) in a complex manner and its influence was dependent on material composition/microconstituents and test conditions. The friction coefficient got reduced with pressure except in the case of the Fe–TiC composite overlay beyond 2 MPa. The hardfaced samples were noted to be better suited for more severe conditions. Microcracking was quite frequently observed on wear surfaces of the hardfaced material especially under mild wear conditions. Sticking of fine debris particles on to the specimen surface was also observed.  相似文献

Steel matrix particulate composites were processed by direct addition of various powders to molten medium carbon steel. Fe–TiC and Fe–TiB2 powders were produced using a self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) reaction and consisted of a dispersion of fine TiC (5–10 μm) and TiB2 particles (2–5 μm), respectively in an iron binder.Addition of the Fe–TiC powder to the steel resulted in the formation of a metal matrix composite containing a homogeneous dispersion of TiC particles. However, addition of the Fe–TiB2 powder resulted in the formation of a parasitic Fe2B phase and TiC within the steel microstructure. In response to this an SHS masteralloy composed of Fe–(50% TiB2+50%Ti) was manufactured which, when added to steel, prevented the formation of Fe2B and resulted in a composite containing a mixture of TiB2 and TiC particles.Dry reciprocating sliding wear behaviour of the three composite materials and their unreinforced counterpart was investigated at room temperature against a white cast iron counterface. Relative wear behaviour of the materials varied as a function of load. In all cases, the composite manufactured by addition of Fe–TiB2 (yielding Fe2B and TiC phases in the steel) exhibited wear rates greater than three times that of the unreinforced alloy. However, improvements in wear resistance over the base steel of up to two and a half times were observed with the other composites where the desired TiC and/or TiB2 phases were retained in the steel. Scanning electron microscopy has been used to interpret wear behaviour in relation to both the as-cast microstructures of the composites and the wear scar microstructures observed.  相似文献

采用等离子堆焊技术在打壳锤头基体Q235钢表面进行堆焊,堆焊材料选用分别含有50%WC、40%WC和30%WC+TiC的复合镍基粉末。借助金相显微镜、扫描电子显微镜、显微硬度仪、摩擦磨损试验仪等仪器对所得各堆焊层的显微组织、化学成分、显微硬度、耐磨性和耐蚀性进行分析。试验结果表明,三种合金堆焊层显微组织均为γ-Ni固溶体和弥散分布的不同形态的硬质化合物相,如WC,(Ti,V)C等。三种合金堆焊层与基体界面处冶金结合良好,堆焊层稀释率低,且与基体Q235钢相比,耐电解腐蚀性显著提高。含有30%WC+TiC的镍基合金堆焊层与含有50%WC和40%WC的镍基合金堆焊层相比,具有更高的耐磨性和抗热腐蚀性。因而含有30%WC+TiC的镍基合金堆焊层综合性能最优,能够大幅度延长打壳锤头使用寿命,具有广泛的应用前景。  相似文献

The tribological behavior of 30 vol% carbon fiber–reinforced polyetheretherketone (CFRPEEK) against AISI 431 steel under different temperatures of water lubrication was investigated. Friction and wear tests were carried out on a disc-on-disc contact test apparatus under different operating conditions. The results reveal that the lubricant temperature has a significant effect on the friction and wear properties of CFRPEEK sliding against AISI 431 steel. The average friction coefficient and wear rate of CFRPEEK increase with increasing lubricant temperature. However, the wear rate of AISI 431 steel did not have a positive correlation with the wear rate of CFRPEEK under different temperatures of water lubrication. Moreover, the original and worn surfaces of CFRPEEK and AISI 431 steel were imaged by environmental scanning electron microscopy and optical microscopy, respectively. The main tribological mechanisms of CFRPEEK sliding against AISI 431 steel were adhesive wear, and increasing the temperature of the lubricant could accelerate wear.  相似文献

为了探讨纳米SiO2(n-SiO2)对火焰喷涂尼龙(PA)1010涂层干摩擦磨损性能的影响,采用MRH-3型环-块摩擦磨损试验机对不同n-SiO2含量的尼龙1010涂层的干摩擦磨损性能进行了测试;并利用扫描电子显微镜(SEM)对复合涂层的磨损表面进行观察,以探讨n-S iO2对火焰喷涂尼龙1010涂层摩擦磨损性能的影响机制。结果表明:n-SiO2的加入能明显提高尼龙涂层的耐磨性,降低摩擦因数,疲劳磨损、粘附磨损及犁切现象明显减轻;当n-SiO2含量为1.5%(质量分数)时,复合涂层摩擦磨损性能最佳,试验条件下磨损量降低近4倍,摩擦因数降低23%,跑合期降低44%,复合涂层与GCr15钢环对磨时的磨损机制主要为疲劳磨损和轻微的粘附磨损。  相似文献

通过复合电镀法制备了N i-Si3N4和N i-P-Si3N4两种复合镀层,分别与热处理45#钢组成摩擦副,进行环-环摩擦磨损试验,测试了摩擦因数和磨损量,并观察了磨损表面形貌,探讨了摩擦副的摩擦磨损机理。结果表明,N i-P-Si3N4/45#钢摩擦副的摩擦因数较小,磨损量低,具有良好的减摩耐磨性能。镀层基体的性能明显影响复合镀层的摩擦磨损性能。磨料磨损是N i-Si3N4/45#钢摩擦副的主要磨损形式,导致45#钢的磨损量增大;N i-P-Si3N4镀层对Si3N4颗粒具有良好的把持力,避免了磨料磨损的产生,摩擦副处于稳定的边界润滑摩擦状态。  相似文献

Using a gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) process, in situ synthesis TiC particles reinforced Fe-based alloy composite coating has been produced by preplaced FeCrBSi alloy, graphite and ferrotitanium powders. The microstructure and wear properties of the composite coatings were studied by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffractometer (XRD) and wear test. The effects of thickness of the pre-placed powder layer on the microstructure, hardness and wear resistance of the composite coatings were also investigated. The results indicated that TiC particles were produced by direct metallurgical reaction between ferrotitanium and graphite during the GTAW process. TiC particles with sizes in the range of 3–5 μm were dispersed in the matrix. The volume fraction of TiC particles and microhardness gradually increased from the bottom to the top of the composite coatings. The TiC-reinforced composite coatings enhance the hardness and wear resistance. The highest wear resistance of the composite coating with a 1.2 mm layer was obtained.  相似文献

High speed sliding wear of AISI 1020 steel, AISI 304 stainless steel and commercially pure titanium (75A) was studied using a pin-on-ring geometry. All the tests were carried out in air without any lubricant. The sliding speed was 0.5–10.0 m s?1 and the normal force was 49.0 N (5 kgf).The friction coefficient of all the materials tested decreased with the sliding speed; this appears to be a consequence of oxide formation. The wear rate of 304 stainless steel increased monotonically with speed, whereas the wear rate of 1020 steel and titanium first decreased and then increased and again decreased, with a maximum occurring at about 5 m s?1. The complex variation of the wear rate as a function of speed is explained in terms of the dependence of the friction coefficient, hardness and toughness of the materials on temperature. Microscope examinations of the wear track, the sub-surface of worn specimens and the wear particles indicate that the wear mode was predominantly by subsurface deformation, crack nucleation and growth processes, i.e. the delamination process, similar to the low speed sliding wear of metals. Oxidative and adhesion theories proposed in the past to explain the high speed sliding wear of metals are found to be incompatible with the experimental observations.  相似文献

探讨了在电火花加工机床上沉积碳化钛金属陶瓷涂层方法,利用TiC,WC,Mo,N i粉未添加不同比例稀土元素在高压下压制并烧结了试验电极,在45#钢表面沉积了不同稀土含量的TiC陶瓷涂层,并用扫描电镜(SEM)、X射线衍射仪(XRD)、显微硬度计、环块式磨损试验机对涂层组成、组织形态进行、硬度及摩擦学性能分别进行了研究,并结合试验结果进行了理论分析。试验结果表明:用电火花放电法可沉积TiC陶瓷涂层,涂层中加入质量分数为0.5%的氧化镧后,涂层的耐磨性能较未加稀土涂层提高了3倍,摩擦因数减少10%,而加入过多的稀土镧氧化物则不利于涂层组织性能及耐磨性能的改善。稀土氧化镧对涂层的组织有改善作用,加入适量的稀土元素使得涂层致密性提高,减少涂层中的缺陷,涂层表面呈多孔结构特性。  相似文献

采用激光熔覆方法在NAK80模具钢表面制备钴基合金熔覆层,用扫描电镜、X射线衍射仪分析了熔覆层的显微组织,通过干滑动摩擦试验研究了熔覆层的摩擦磨损性能,分析了其磨损机制,并用三维表面形貌仪观察磨损试样的表面形貌。结果表明:熔覆层的主要组成相为Cr23C6、Co3Mo2Si、MoC、FeCr和γ-Co;熔覆层由涂层与基体界面处的平面晶区、涂层中部的胞状树枝晶区和表层的网状等轴晶粒区组成;经激光熔覆处理后的NAK80模具钢表面硬度和耐磨性得到了显著改善,与NAK80模具钢相比,熔覆层表面的平均摩擦因数降低了约34%,比磨损率下降了约91.3%;熔覆层的磨损机制为粘着磨损和轻微的显微切削。  相似文献

The friction and wear properties of synthetic ionic liquid functionalized borate esters as additives in poly-alpha-olefin (PAO) were measured for diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating on plasma nitrided AISI 1045 steel. Results show that the borate esters gave much better friction–reduction and antiwear properties for DLC coating/steel and DLC coating/DLC coating sliding pairs than zinc dialkyldithiophosphate (ZDDP). In addition the DLC coating had much better wear resistance than the nitrided mild steel substrate, indicating that duplicate surface modification was more effective in significantly increasing the wear resistance of mild steel.  相似文献

The unlubricated tribological characteristics of coating layers containing an Fe-based amorphous matrix have been investigated in air using an alumina ball with a diameter of 3.1 mm. From the ball-on-disk test system, the friction coefficient could be measured for up to 3,000 seconds. The temperature changes on the worn surfaces were also simultaneously measured using an infrared thermometer. Three different types of coating layers having an Fe-based amorphous matrix, an Fe-based amorphous matrix with embedded Ni-based self-fluxing alloy particles, and an Fe-based amorphous matrix with embedded WC particles were prepared through a high velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF) process. Although the coating layers have certain levels of porosity, unique frictional characteristics attributed to the amorphous matrix were observed during the friction tests. Compared with conventional bearing steels such as AISI 521000 (Hv=840), excellent tribological and wear characteristics were obtained, demonstrating that an Fe-based bulk metallic glass powder is a viable engineering material for practical anti-wear coating applications.  相似文献

为提高汽车制动盘耐磨和高温氧化性能,延长其使用寿命,采用激光熔覆技术在中碳钢表面制备了以WC颗粒为增强相的Ni基复合涂层.借助SEM和XRD等表征手段对制动盘表面涂层进行了组织和物相分析,利用维氏硬度计测试了制动盘表面涂层截面显微硬度分布,通过摩擦磨损实验研究了制动盘表面涂层的磨损性能.研究表明,制动盘表面涂层主要由γ-(Ni,Fe)固溶体、均匀分布WC颗粒和碳化物抗磨损相组成.涂层平均显微硬度HV0.2670,显微硬度值波动较小较为平稳,证明涂层组织比较均匀.在多种强化效果共同作用下,制动盘表面涂层的磨损量与基材相比明显减小,仅为基材的20%,抗磨损性能显著提高.  相似文献
