A pyromellitic dianhydride (benzene‐1,2,4,5‐tetracarboxylic dianhydride) was reacted with L ‐isoleucine in acetic acid, and the resulting imide acid [N,N′‐(pyromellitoyl)‐bis‐L ‐isoleucine] (4) was obtained in a high yield. 4 was converted into N,N′‐(pyromellitoyl)‐bis‐L ‐isoleucine diacid chloride by a reaction with thionyl chloride. The polycondensation reaction of this diacid chloride with several aromatic diamines, including 1,4‐phenylenediamine, 4,4′‐diaminodiphenyl methane, 4,4′‐diaminodiphenylsulfone (4,4′‐sulfonyldianiline), 4,4′‐diaminodiphenylether, 2,4‐diaminotoluene, and 1,3‐phenylenediamine, was developed with two methods. The first method was polymerization under microwave irradiation, and the second method was low‐temperature solution polymerization, with trimethylsilyl chloride used as an activating agent for the diamines. The polymerization reactions proceeded quickly and produced a series of optically active poly(amide imide)s with good yields and moderate inherent viscosities of 0.17–0.25 dL/g. All of the aforementioned polymers were fully characterized by IR, elemental analyses, and specific rotation. Some structural characterization and physical properties of these optically active poly(amide imide)s are reported. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci 92: 951–959, 2004  相似文献

Rapid and highly efficient synthesis of novel poly(amide‐imide)s (PAIs) were achieved under microwave irradiation by using a domestic microwave oven from the polycondensation reactions of 4,4′‐carbonyl‐bis(phthaloyl‐L ‐alanine) diacid chloride [N,N′‐(4,4′‐carbonyldiphthaloyl)] bisalanine diacid chloride (1) with six different derivatives of tetrahydropyrimidinone and tetrahydro‐2‐thioxopyrimidine compounds (2a–2f) in the presence of a small amount of a nonpolar organic medium that acts as a primary microwave absorber. Suitable organic media was o‐cresol. The polycondensation proceeded rapidly and was almost completed within 10 min, giving a series of PAIs with inherent viscosities of about 0.25–0.45 dL/g. The resulting PAIs were obtained in high yield and are optically active and thermally stable. All of the above compounds were fully characterized by means of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, elemental analyses, inherent viscosity (ηinh), solubility test, and specific rotation. N,N′‐(Pyromellitoyl)‐bis‐(L ‐leucine) diacid was reacted with ethyl chloroformate in the presence of triethylamine followed by reaction with activated sodium azide and gave N,N′‐(pyromellitoyl)‐bis‐(L ‐leucine) diacylazide in high yield. This diacylazide was heated in dry benzene and gave the unstable N,N′‐(pyromellitoyl)‐bis‐(L ‐leucine) diisocyanate ( 5 ) in quantitative yield. Thus, diisocyanate 5 was generated in situ and polycondensation reaction of this monomer with several aromatic diols, such as 4,4′‐dihydroxybiphenyl, 1,4‐hydroquinone, bisphenol A, phenolphthalein and 1,4‐dihydroxyanthraquinone, was performed in dry toluene under refluxing in the presence of 1,4‐diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane (triethylenediamine) as a catalyst. The polymerization reactions proceeded within 48 h, producing a series of optically active poly(imide–urethane)s with good yield and moderate inherent viscosity in the range 0.18–0.28 dl g?1. All of the above polymers were fully characterized by infrared spectra, elemental analyses and specific rotation. 4,4′‐Hexafluoroisopropylidene‐2,2‐bis(phthalic acid anhydride) (1) was treated with L ‐methionine (2) in acetic acid and the resulting 4,4′‐(hexafluoroisopropylidene)‐N,N′‐bis(phthaloyl‐L ‐methionine) diacid (4) was obtained in high yields. The direct polycondensation reaction of this diacid with several aromatic diols, such as bisphenol A (5a), phenolphthalein (5b), 1,4‐dihydroxybenzene (5c), 4,4′‐dihydroxydiphenyl sulfide (5 d), 4,6‐dihydroxypyrimidine (5e), 4,4′‐dihydroxydiphenyl sulfone (5f), and 2,4′‐dihydroxyacetophenone (5g), was carried out in a system of tosyl chloride (TsCl), pyridine (Py), and N,N‐dimethylformamide (DMF). The reactions with TsCl were significantly promoted by controlling alcoholysis with diols, in the presence of catalytic amounts of DMF, to give a series of optically active poly(ester imide)s, (PEI)s, with good yield and moderate inherent viscosity ranging from 0.43 to 0.67 dL/g. The polycondensation reactions were significantly affected by the amounts of DMF, molar concentration of monomers, TsCl and Py, aging time, temperature, and reaction time. A new class of optically active poly(amide imide)s were synthesized via direct polycondensation reaction of diisocyanates with a chiral diacid monomer. The step‐growth polymerization reactions of monomer bis(p‐amido benzoic acid)‐N‐trimellitylimido‐L‐leucine (BPABTL) (5) as a diacid monomer with 4,4′‐methylene bis(4‐phenylisocyanate) (MDI) (6) was performed under microwave irradiation, solution polymerization under gradual heating and reflux condition in the presence of pyridine (Py), dibuthyltin dilurate (DBTDL), and triethylamine (TEA) as a catalyst and without a catalyst, respectively. The optimized polymerization conditions according to solvent and catalyst for each method were performed with tolylene‐2,4‐diisocyanate (TDI) (7), hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI) (8), and isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI) (9) to produce optically active poly(amide imide)s by the diisocyanate route. The resulting polymers have inherent viscosities in the range of 0.09–1.10 dL/g. These polymers are optically active, thermally stable, and soluble in amide type solvents. All of the above polymers were fully characterized by IR spectroscopy, 1H NMR spectroscopy, elemental analyses, specific rotation, and thermal analyses methods. New diimide–dicarboxylic acids, ie 4‐phenyl‐2,6‐bis(4‐trimellitimidophenyl)pyridine and 4‐p‐biphenyl‐2,6‐bis‐(4‐trimellitimidophenyl)pyridine, were synthesized by the condensation reaction of 4‐phenyl‐2,6‐bis(4‐aminophenyl)pyridine and 4‐p‐biphenyl‐2,6‐bis(4‐aminophenyl)pyridine with trimellitic anhydride in glacial acetic acid or dimethylformamide. The monomers were fully characterized by FT‐IR and NMR spectroscopies, and elemental analyses. A series of novel poly(amide–imide)s with inherent viscosities of 0.68–0.87 dl g?1 was prepared from the two diimide–diacids with various aromatic diamines by direct polycondensation. The poly(amide–imide)s were characterized by FT‐IR and NMR spectroscopies. The λmax data for the resulting poly(amide–imide)s were in the range of 260–292 nm. These polymers exhibited good solubilities in polar aprotic solvents. The 10 % weight loss temperatures are above 485 °C under a nitrogen atmosphere. Several new poly(amide imide)s were synthesized through the polycondensation reactions of bis(4‐trimellitimidophenyl) sulfone [N,N′‐(4,4′‐diphenylsulfone) bistrimellitimide] with a number of hydantoin derivatives in a medium consisting of thionyl chloride, N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone, and pyridine. The polycondensations produced a series of novel poly(amide imide)s in high yields with inherent viscosities of 0.20–0.46 dL/g. The resulting poly(amide imide)s were characterized with elemental analysis, viscosity measurements, thermogravimetric analysis, derivative thermogravimetry, solubility testing, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Several new optically active poly(amide‐imide)s have been synthesized by solution polycondensation of readily available aromatic diamines with diacid chloride containing ether‐imide and L ‐methionine moieties. Three polycondensation techniques were used: low temperature solution polycondensation, short period reflux conditions, and microwave‐assisted polycondensation. In all cases, the reactions were carried out using equimolecular amounts of the two monomers, in polar aprotic solvents. The obtained compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, solubility tests, FTIR, and 1H NMR spectrometry. Thermal stability of the polymer was studied by thermogravimetric analysis. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci 99: 1038–1044, 2006  相似文献

A series of new alternative poly(amide–imide)s (PAIs, IIIa–j ) was synthesized by the direct polycondensation of 1,4‐bis(4‐aminophenoxy)naphthalene (1,4‐BAPON) with various aromatic diimide–diacids. These polymers were obtained in quantitative yields with inherent viscosities of 0.71–1.03 dL/g. Except for IIIa, most of the polymers were soluble in aprotic polar solvents such as NMP, DMAc, DMF, and DMSO and could be solution‐cast into transparent, flexible, and tough films. The glass transition temperatures of these PAIs were in the range of 235–280°C. Thermogravimetric analyses established that these polymers were fairly stable up to 450°C, and 10% weight loss temperatures were recorded in the range of 520–569°C under nitrogen and 506–566°C under an air atmosphere. Compared with the PAIs with the 1,4‐bis(4‐aminophenoxy)benzene structure (series IV), the solubility of series III was better than that of series IV. Series III also exhibited lower crystallinity and better processability than those of series IV. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci 77: 217–225, 2000  相似文献

A new class of optically active poly(amide–imide–urethane)s (PAIUs) was synthesized via a two‐step diisocyanate route under microwave irradiation. In these reactions, 4,4′‐methylene‐bis(4‐phenylisocyanate) was reacted with bis(p‐amido benzoic acid)‐N‐trimellitylimido‐L ‐leucine and poly(ethylene glycol diol)s (PEGs), such as PEG‐400, PEG‐600, PEG‐1000, and PEG‐2000, to furnish a series of new PAIUs. The effects of different reaction conditions, such as the method of preparation (polyol or acid chain extension), the prepolymerization step (NCO‐terminated oligoamide or NCO‐terminated polyether polyol), the irradiation time and power, the reaction solvent, the soft‐segment length, and the presence or absence of reaction catalysts (e.g., triethylamine, pyridine, and dibutyltin dilaurate), on the properties of the copolymers, including the solubility, viscosity, and thermal behavior, were investigated. The resulting multiblock copolymers had inherent viscosities of 0.15–0.53 dL/g. These multiblock copolymers were optically active, thermally stable, and soluble in amide‐type solvents. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci 98: 1781–1792, 2005  相似文献
