The GdBaCuCo0.5Fe0.5O5+δ (GBCCF) layered perovskite oxide was evaluated as novel cathode for intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cells (IT-SOFCs). Its electrical conductivity was 9–13 S cm?1 at 650–800 °C in air. The average thermal expansion coefficient (TEC) of GBCCF was 14.4 × 10?6 K?1, which was close to that of the typical electrolyte material. The cathode polarization resistance of GBCCF was 0.650 Ω cm2 at 750 °C and it decreases to 0.118 Ω cm2 when Ce0.9Gd0.1O1.95 (GDC) was added to form a GBCCF–GDC composite cathode. Preliminary results indicated that layered perovskite GBCCF was a promising alternative cathode material for IT-SOFCs.  相似文献

In this study, Cu and Mo ions were doped in Ca3Co4O9−δ to improve the electrical conductivity and electrochemical behavior of Ca3Co4O9−δ ceramic and the performance of a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) single cell based on NiO-SDC/SDC/doped Ca3Co4O9−δ-SDC were examined. Cu substitution in the monoclinic Ca3Co4O9−δ ceramic effectively enhanced the densification, slightly increased the grain size, and triggered the formation of some Ca3Co2O6; however, no second phase was found in porous Mo-doped Ca3Co4O9−δ ceramics even when the sintering temperature reached 1050 °C. Substitution of Cu ions caused slight increase in the Co3+ and Co4+ contents and decrease in the Co2+ content; however, doping with Mo ions showed the opposite trend. Doping the Ca3Co4O9−δ ceramic with a small amount of Cu or Mo increased its electrical conductivity. The maximum electrical conductivity measured was 218.8 S cm−1 for the Ca3Co3.9Cu0.1O9−δ ceramic at 800 °C. The Ca3Co3.9Cu0.1O9−δ ceramic with a coefficient of thermal expansion coefficient of 12.1×10−6 K−1 was chosen as the cathode to build SOFC single cells consisting of a 20 μm SDC electrolyte layer. Without optimizing the microstructure of the cathode or hermetically sealing the cell against the gas, a power density of 0.367 Wcm−2 at 750 °C was achieved, demonstrating that Cu-doped Ca3Co4O9−δ can be used as a potential cathode material for IT-SOFCs.  相似文献

Aiming to offer a high-performance Co-free cathode for intermediate-temperature solid oxide fuel cells (IT-SOFCs), a series of La0.8Sr0.2Fe1-xCuxO3-δ (LSFCux, x = 0.0–0.3) nanofiber cathodes were synthesized by the electrospinning method. The effects of various Cu doping amounts on the crystal structure, fiber morphology, and electrochemical performance of LSF nanofiber cathode materials were investigated. The results indicate that after being calcined at 800 °C for 2 h, the perovskite structure samples with a high degree of crystallinity are obtained. The morphology of electrospun nanofibers is continuous, and the average diameter of nanofibers is about 110 nm. In addition, the La0.8Sr0.2Fe0.8Cu0.2O3-δ (LSFCu2) fiber cathode displays the optimal electrochemical performance, and the polarization resistance (Rp) is 0.674 Ω cm2 at 650 °C. The doping of Cu transforms the main control step of the low-frequency band from dissociation of oxygen molecules to charge transfer on the electrode, and the maximum power density (Pm) of the Ni-SDC/SDC/LSFCu2 single cell reaches 362 mW cm-2 at 650 °C.  相似文献

The application of the La2NiO4+δ (LNO), one of the Ruddlesden–Popper series materials, as a cathode material for intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cells is investigated in detail. LNO is synthesized via a complex method using ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) and citric acid. The effect of the calcination temperature of the LNO powder and the sintering temperature of the LNO cathode layer on the anode-supported cell, Ni–YSZ/YSZ/GDC/LNO, is characterized in view of the charge transfer resistance and the mass transfer resistance. Charge transfer resistance was not significantly affected by calcination and sintering temperature when the sintering temperature was not lower than the calcination temperature. Mass transfer resistance was primarily governed by the sintering temperature. The unit cell with the LNO cathode sintered at 1100 °C with 900 °C-calcined powder presented the lowest polarization resistance for all the measured temperatures and exhibited the highest fuel cell performances, with values of 1.25, 0.815, 0.485, and 0.263 W cm−2 for temperatures of 800, 750, 700, and 650 °C, respectively.  相似文献

Developing cathode material with high performance and excellent stability is the ultimate goal for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs). Based on this consideration, we design a new simple perovskite oxide BaCo0.8Zr0.1Y0.1O3-δ (BCZY) as the cathode material of SOFC without any further modification, which has good oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) activity and excellent stability in air and CO2 at an intermediate temperature range of 600 ℃? 800 ℃. The area specific resistance (ASR) of symmetrical cell with BCZY cathode is 0.041 Ω cm2 at 700 ℃, moreover, BCZY cathode keeps good structural and catalytic stability during 100 h test in air. The electrolyte-supported single cell fabricated with BCZY as cathode delivers a maximum power density of 460 mW cm?2 and a superior steady operation over 200 h at 700 ℃. The good thermal physical structure stability of BCZY is further demonstrated by in-situ X-ray diffraction (XRD), good ORR activity and excellent CO2 tolerance are further confirmed by density functional theory (DFT) calculations. These results indicates that BCZY maybe a potential cathode material for intermediate temperature SOFCs (IT-SOFCs).  相似文献

Perovskite oxides with ionic and electronic conductivity are the key cathode materials of solid oxide fuel cells. Most of these materials, however, exhibit large cathodic polarization resistance which is mainly determined by their tardy oxygen transport kinetics. Herein, Pr0.5Ba0.25-xCa0.25CoO3-δ is studied to understand the roles of Ba-deficiency in tuning oxygen transport and electrochemical behaviors in the system. Our findings indicate that Ba-deficiency can significantly accelerate oxygen surface exchange process and bring ∼77% reduction of polarization resistance in this process. It is interesting to note that Ba-deficiency can slightly slow oxygen ion bulk diffusion rate and induce a minor increase of polarization resistance in the corresponding process, which associates with the inhibited oxygen vacancy mobility caused by the interactions between negatively charged Ba vacancy and positively charged oxygen vacancy. These new findings pave a new path for solid oxide fuel cell design and chemical sensor developments.  相似文献

10Sc1CeSZ is one of the most important electrolyte materials used for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs). A novel solid–liquid method (SLM) was adopted for the preparation of 10Sc1CeSZ nanopowder. High-purity, single-phase, homogeneous 10Sc1CeSZ powder was successfully prepared using this method. The resulting powders and ceramic pellets were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). A cubic structure was obtained when the value of the specific surface area (SSA) of the starting material ZrO2 was greater than 60 m2 g−1. A conductivity of 0.14 S cm−1 at 800 °C was achieved for the sintered pellets. The performance of the electrolyte-supported cell (ESC) NiO+GDC/10Sc1CeSZ /10Sc1CeSZ +LSM reached 0.66 W cm−2 at 0.75 V and 850 °C.  相似文献

The substitution of Ca for Sr in the LnSr3-xCaxFe3O10-δ (x = 0–1.5, Ln = La, Pr, and Sm), Ruddlesden-Popper (RP) intergrowth structure was investigated to determine how the physical and electrochemical properties of this potential cathode material in solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) are impacted. A small amount of Ca incorporated into the structure reduced the thermal expansion coefficient, improved the electrical conductivity, and increased power density by up to 30% of a La0.8Sr0.2Ga0.8Mg0.2O3 electrolyte-supported single cell. The microstructure and oxygen permeability of the materials were independent of Ca substitution. A phase transformation of LaSr3-xCaxFe3O10-δ to perovskite was observed when the Ca composition of x > 1.0. Among the substitution of Pr and Sm for La in LaSr2.7Ca0.3Fe3O10-δ, only PrSr2.7Ca0.3Fe3O10-δ was pure with no phase transformation found. The co-substitution of Pr and Ca promoted the reduction of Fe, enhanced the oxygen permeation and active surface, and diminished the contact resistance at the cathode-electrolyte interlayer. The co-substitution of Ca and Pr delivered good electrochemical performance of approximately 354 mWcm−2 at 800 °C on a 0.3 mm thick La0.8Sr0.2Ga0.8Mg0.2O3 electrolyte-supported cell and the lowest area specific resistance (ASR).  相似文献

The proton conduction behavior and electrochemical performance of PrBaFe2O5+δ (PBF) are firstly studied for use as promising anode materials in symmetrical proton-conducting solid oxide fuel cells (PCFCs). This study focuses on the investigation of protonic defect formation in PBF and its properties as an electrode, including its chemical stability, electrochemical performance and redox stability. PBF is found to have proton conductivity at intermediate temperatures, which contributes to improved hydrogen oxidation reaction and water formation reaction at the anode and cathode, respectively. Hence, the symmetrical PCFC exhibits a peak power density of 301 mW?cm?2 and total resistance of 0.77 Ω?cm2 at 700 °C. Further, it shows excellent redox-cycle stability upon cycling between fuel and air under a current load. The electrochemical analysis and redox cycling tests of the PBF anode demonstrate that PBF is an attractive candidate for alternative material for symmetrical PCFCs.  相似文献

Ba0.5Sr0.5Co1?xFexO3?δ (x = 0.2, 0.6, and 0.8) and Ba0.5Sr0.5Cu1?xFexO3?δ (x = 0.6 and 0.8) perovskite oxides have been investigated as cathode materials for intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cells. All the samples synthesized by a citrate–EDTA complexing method were single-phase cubic perovskite solid solutions. Then, the thermal expansion coefficient, electrical conductivities, the oxygen vacancy concentrations, the polarization resistances (Rp), and the power densities were measured. An increase in the Co content resulted in a decrease in the polarization resistance, the electrical conductivities at low temperatures, and the inflection point of the thermal expansion coefficient, but it led to an increase in the electrical conductivities at high temperatures, the oxygen vacancy concentrations, and the maximum power densities. The Cu-based system has similar behavior to the Co-based system; yet, in terms of the electrical conductivities, high Cu content gave a better result than low content for the entire range of temperatures.  相似文献

To prevent undesirable reactions between the cathode and electrolyte materials in cathode-supported solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs), the co-sintering temperature of these two layers must be lowered. In the present work, we employed different strategies to lower the co-sintering temperature of cathode–electrolyte bilayers for micro-tubular SOFCs by increasing the cathode sintering shrinkage and adding sintering aids to the electrolyte. Strontium-doped lanthanum manganite (LSM) and yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) were used as the cathode and electrolyte materials, respectively. To facilitate densification of the electrolyte layer by controlling the shrinkage of the cathode support, the particle size of the LSM powder was reduced by high-energy ball milling and different amounts of micro-crystalline cellulose pore former were used. Sintering aids, namely NiO and Fe2O3, were also added to the YSZ electrolyte to further improve its low-temperature sintering. Our results indicate that with the improvement in the cathode support shrinkage and use of the small amounts of sintering aids, the cathode–electrolyte co-sintering temperature can be reduced to 1250–1300 °C. It was also observed that the presence of the sintering aids helps to reduce the reactivity between the LSM cathode and YSZ electrolyte.  相似文献

Using cost-effective fabrication methods to manufacture a high-performance solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) is helpful to enhance the commercial viability. Here, we report an anode-supported SOFC with a three-layer Gd0.1Ce0.9O1.95 (gadolinia-doped-ceria [GDC])/Y0.148Zr0.852O1.926 (8YSZ)/GDC electrolyte system. The first dense GDC electrolyte is fabricated by co-sintering a thin, screen-printed GDC layer with the anode support (NiO–8YSZ substrate and NiO–GDC anode) at 1400°C for 5 h. Subsequently, two electrolyte layers are deposited via physical vapor deposition. The total electrolyte thickness is less than 5 μm in an area of 5 × 5 cm2, enabling an area-specific ohmic resistance as low as 0.125 Ω cm2 at 500°C (under open circuit voltage), and contributing to a power density as high as 1.2 W cm2 at 650°C (at an operating cell voltage of 0.7 V, using humidified [10 vol.% H2O] H2 as fuel and air as oxidant). This work provides an effective strategy and shows the great potential of using GDC as an electrolyte for high-performance SOFC at intermediate temperature.  相似文献

Li13.9Sr0.1Zn(GeO4+δ)4 (LSZG) materials can exhibit proton conduction by Li+/H+ ion exchange in hydrogen atmosphere. It can be used in solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) as an electrolyte. In this study, In3+ doped LSZG powders are synthesized by sol-gel method. X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, thermal gravimetric analyzer, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy are used to investigate the effects of In doping on LSZG. All Li13.9-xInxSr0.1Zn(GeO4+δ)4 (LISZG, 0 ≤ x ≤ 0.3) ceramics exhibit the same phase with LSZG. The dopant of In promotes the sintering activity and Li+/H+ ion exchange rate of LSZG. The optimum doping of In is x = 0.2. At 600 °C, Li13.7In0.2Sr0.1Zn(GeO4+δ)4 (0.2LISZG) shows a proton conductivity of 0.094 S/cm under 0.9 V direct current bias voltage. In addition, the single cell based on 0.2LISZG electrolyte is prepared, and it has been demonstrated that the practical utilization of 0.2LISZG in IT-SOFCs is feasible.  相似文献

Proton conducting solid oxide fuel cell (H-SOFC) is an emerging energy conversion device, with lower activation energy and higher energy utilization efficiency. However, the deficiency of highly active cathode materials still remains a major challenge for the development of H-SOFC. Therefore, in this work, K2NiF4-type cathode materials Pr2-xBaNi0.6Cu0.4O4+δ (x=0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3), single-phase triple-conducting (e-/O2-/H+) oxides, are prepared for intermediate temperature H-SOFCs and exhibit good oxygen reduction reaction activity. The investigation demonstrates that doping Ba into Pr2-xBaNi0.6Cu0.4O4+δ can increase its electrochemical performance through enhancing electrical conductivity, oxygen vacancy concentration and proton conductivity. EIS tests are carried at 750℃ and the minimum polarization impedances are obtained when x=0.2, which are 0.068 Ω·cm2 in air and 1.336 Ω·cm2 in wet argon, respectively. The peak power density of the cell with Pr1.8Ba0.2Ni0.6Cu0.4O4+δ cathode is 298 mW·cm-2 at 750℃ in air with humidified hydrogen as fuel. Based on the above results, Ba-doped Pr2-xBaNi0.6Cu0.4O4+δ can be a good candidate material for SOFC cathode applications.  相似文献

PrBa0.5Sr0.5Co2–xFexO5+δ (PBSCF) (X = 0, 0.3, 0.4, and 0.5) is investigated as cathode material for intermediate-temperature solid oxide fuel cells. Suspension plasma spraying is used as a low cost and large-scale manufacturing process to prepare PBSCF cathodes. Fe substitution effects on the crystal structure and electrochemical performance are characterized. All plasma-sprayed PBSCF cathodes exhibit a pure and stable cubic structure. The suspension plasma-sprayed PBSCF deposits show a porous and fine structure, and the microstructures are insensitive to Fe substitution. Subsequent to Fe doping, the polarization resistance of PBSCF cathodes rapidly decreases for increasing Fe substitution concentration from 0 to 0.4. Further increase of the Fe doping concentration increases the cathode polarization instead. At 600 and 700 °C, a 20% Fe-doped (x = 0.4) PBSCF cathode exhibits remarkably low area-specific polarization resistances (Rp) of 0.074 Ω cm2 and 0.012 Ω cm2, respectively. Moreover, the Rp of all cathodes remains almost identical after isothermal annealing at 600 °C for 300 h. Furthermore, the thermally-sprayed porous metal-supported cell assembled with the optimal PBSCF cathode shows excellent performance with peak power densities of 0.37, 0.8, and 1.35 W cm−2 at 500, 600, and 700 °C, respectively.  相似文献

In this work, we examine the benefits of alternative powder processing methods, with a primary focus on microwave-based synthesis, that could both lower material manufacturing costs and further enhance cathode performance for solid oxide fuel cell applications. La0.3Ca0.7Fe0.7Cr0.3O3−δ (LCFCr), formed using conventional solid-state methods, has been shown in earlier work to be a very promising catalyst for the oxygen reduction reaction. To further increase its performance, microwave methods were used to increase the surface area of LCFCr and to decrease the synthesis time. It was found that the material could be obtained in crystalline form in only 7 h, with the synthesis temperature lowered by roughly 300 °C as compared to conventional methods.  相似文献

A perovskite-type (Ba0.5Sr0.5)0.85Gd0.15Co0.8Fe0.2O3?δ (BSGCF) oxide has been investigated as the cathode of intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cells (IT-SOFCs). Coulometric titration, thermogravimetry analysis, thermal expansion and four-probe DC resistance measurements indicate that the introduction of Gd3+ ions into the A-site of Ba0.5Sr0.5Co0.8Fe0.2O3?δ (BSCF) leads to the increase in both oxygen nonstoichiometry at room temperature and electrical conductivity. For example, the conductivity of BSGCF is 148 S cm?1 at 507 °C, over 4 times as large as that of BSCF. Furthermore, the electrochemical activity toward the oxygen reduction reaction is also enhanced by the Gd doping. Impedance spectra conducted on symmetrical half cells show that the interfacial polarization resistance of the BSGCF cathode is 0.171 Ω cm2 at 600 °C, smaller than 0.297 Ω cm2 of the BSCF cathode. A Ni/Sm0.2Ce0.8O1.9 anode-supported single cell based on the BSGCF cathode exhibits a peak power density of 551 mW cm?2 at 600 °C.  相似文献

In this study, we report a novel medium-entropy perovskite oxide of La0.7Sr0.3Co0.25Fe0.25Ni0.25Mn0.25O3-δ (LSCFNM73) with high constitutive entropy (Sconfig) as the cathode material of intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cells (IT-SOFCs). The intrinsic properties of phase structure, electrical conductivity, thermal expansion and oxygen adsorption capacity of La1-xSrxCo0.25Fe0.25Ni0.25Mn0.25O3-δ (LSCFNM, x = 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3) oxides are evaluated in detail. The LSCFNM73 oxide exhibits the maximum electrical conductivity of 464 S cm−1 at 800 °C and a relatively lower thermal expansion coefficient (TEC) of 15.34 × 10−6 K−1, which is selected as the propriate cathode composition. The B-site of LSCFNM73 contains four elements which can increase the configuration entropy. Additionally, NiO-Yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ) supported fuel cell is fabricated by tape casting, hot pressing-lamination, co-sintering and screen printing technologies. The fuel cell demonstrates a maximum power density of 1088 mW cm2 at 800 °C, and excellent stability at 750 °C under 0.75V in 120 h and 10 times thermal cycling between 750 °C and 400 °C. Therefore, the medium-entropy LSCFNM73 oxide can be applied in IT-SOFCs as a competitive cathode material.  相似文献

Lanthanum-based iron- and cobalt-containing perovskite has a high potential as a cathode material because of its high electro-catalytic activity at a relatively low operating temperature in solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) (600–800). To enhance the electro-catalytic reduction of oxidants on La0.6Sr0.4Co0.2Fe0.8O3?δ (LSCF), Ga doped ceria (Ce0.9Gd0.1O1.95, GDC) supported LSCF (15LSCF/GDC) is successfully fabricated using an impregnation method with a ratio of 15 wt% LSCF and 85 wt% GDC. The cathodic polarization resistances of 15LSCF/GDC are 0.015 Ω cm2, 0.03 Ω cm2, 0.11 Ω cm2, and 0.37 Ω cm2 at 800 °C, 750 °C, 700 °C, and 650 °C, respectively. The simply mixed composite cathode with LSCF and GDC of the same compositions shows 0.05 Ω cm2, 0.2 Ω cm2, 0.56 Ω cm2, and 1.20 Ω cm2 at 800 °C, 750 °C, 700 °C, and 650 °C, respectively. The fuel cell performance of the SOFC with 15LSCF/GDC shows maximum power densities of 1.45 W cm?2, 1.2 W cm?2, and 0.8 W cm?2 at 780 °C, 730 °C, and 680 °C, respectively. GDC supported LSCF (15LSCF/GDC) shows a higher fuel cell performance with small compositions of LSCF due to the extension of triple phase boundaries and effective building of an electronic path.  相似文献

The thermoelectric properties of Ca3Co4O9 were optimized by the substitution of La3+ for Ca2+ in Ca3Co4O9. The La3+ substitution significantly enhanced the thermoelectric power factor and reduced the lattice thermal conductivity. The lattice thermal conductivities at 800 °C for x = 0 and 0.3 samples were 1.80 and 1.34 Wm−1 K−1, respectively. The reduced thermal conductivity was mainly attributed to mass and strain field fluctuations in the crystal lattice. Ca2.7La0.3Co4O9+δ showed the largest dimensionless figure-of-merit (0.282 at 800 °C) by combining high power factor and the lowest lattice thermal conductivity. This work demonstrates that the La3+ substitution is a highly effective approach for improving high-temperature thermoelectric properties.  相似文献
