SiC-nanowire-reinforced SiCf/SiC composites were successfully fabricated through an in situ growth of SiC nanowires on SiC fibres via chemical vapour infiltration. The dielectric and microwave absorption properties of the composites were investigated within the frequency range of 8.2–12.4 GHz at 25–600 °C. The electric conductivity and complex permittivity of the composites displayed evident temperature-dependent behaviour and were enhanced with increasing temperature. The composites exhibited superior microwave absorption abilities with a minimum reflection loss value of ?47.5 dB at 11.4 GHz and an effective bandwidth of 2.8 GHz at 600 °C. Apart from the contribution of the interconnected SiC nanowire network and multiple reflections, the excellent microwave absorption performance was attributed to dielectric loss that originated from SiC nanowires with abundant stacking faults and heterostructure interfaces. Results suggested that the composites are promising candidates for high-temperature microwave absorbing materials.  相似文献

Because of outstanding performances of the SiC fiber-reinforced ceramic matrix composites in aircraft/aerospace systems, two silicon carbide fiber-reinforced oxide matrices (SiCf/oxides) composites have been prepared by a precursor infiltration and sintering method. Results indicate that the flexural strength of the SiCf/Al2O3–SiO2 composite reaches 159 MPa, whereas that of the SiCf/Al2O3 composite is only 50 MPa. The high-temperature microwave absorption properties of the composite are significantly enhanced due to choosing Al2O3 and SiO2 as the hybrid matrices. Particularly, the minimum reflection loss (RL) value of the SiCf/Al2O3–SiO2 composite reaches −37 dB in the temperature of 200 °C at 8.6 GHz, and the effective absorption bandwidth (RL ≤ −5 dB) is 4.2 GHz (8.2–12.4 GHz) below 400 °C. The superior microwave absorption properties at high temperatures indicate that the SiCf/Al2O3–SiO2 composite has promising applications in civil and military areas. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Silicon carbide fiber-reinforced mullite matrix (SiCf/Mu) composites were fabricated via an infiltration and sintering method. Effects of sintering parameters on microstructure, mechanical, dielectric and microwave absorption properties of SiCf/Mu composites have been investigated. The flexural strength is significantly improved with increasing sintering temperature, and the highest flexural strength of 213?MPa is obtained in vacuum at 1000?°C for 2?h. The performances of composites with different holding time are further studied at 1000?°C. The flexural strengths of composites sintered at 1000?°C for 2 and 4?h reach 213 and 219?MPa, respectively. The failure displacement of the composite sintered at 1000?°C for 4?h reaches 0.39?mm. The excellent microwave absorption properties are achieved for the composite sintered at 1000?°C for 2?h. The minimum reflection loss (RL) reaches ?38?dB with a thickness of 2.9?mm?at 12?GHz and the effective absorbing bandwidth (RL?≤??10?dB) with a thickness of 3.4?mm covers the whole X?band, which indicate that SiCf/Mu composite is a good candidate for microwave absorbing materials. These results provide valuable solutions to obtaining structural-functional materials for microwave absorption applications in civil and military areas.  相似文献

Cf/SiC composite is an excellent structural and functional material, silicon carbide nanowires (SiCnws) are not only a toughening material but also a great application in the field of microwave absorption. In this study, SiCnws are grown on the surface of carbon fiber (Cf) by polymer impregnation and pyrolysis, and the SiC matrix was prepared by chemical vapor osmosis method. The SiCnws are introduced to enhance the mechanical and microwave absorption properties simultaneously. After 3 impregnations, the flexural strength of the composite was 107.35 ± 10 MPa. When the thickness is 1.86 mm, the minimum reflection loss value is ?41.08 dB, and the effective absorption bandwidth (RL ≤ ?10 dB) is 3.86 GHz. Furthermore, the microwave absorption mechanism of the material is discussed. This work provides a new method to prepare lightweight, stable and high-performance microwave absorption materials, and these materials are expected to be used in high temperature environments.  相似文献

SiCf/SiC composites with silicon oxycarbide (SiOC) interphase were successfully prepared using silicone resin as interphase precursor for dip-coating process and polycarbosilane as matrix precursor for PIP process assisted with hot mold pressing. The effects of SiOC interphase on mechanical and dielectric properties were investigated. XRD and Raman spectrum results show that SiOC interphase is composed of silicon oxycarbide and free carbon with a relatively low crystalline degree. The surface morphology of SiC fibers with SiOC interphase is smooth and homogeneous observed by SEM. The flexural strength and failure displacement of SiCf/SiC composites with SiOC interphase vary with the thickness of interphase and the maximum value of flexural strength is 289 MPa with a failure displacement of 0.39 mm when the thickness of SiOC interphase is 0.25 µm. The complex permittivity of the composites increases from 8.8-i5.7 to 9.8-i8.3 with the interphase thicker.  相似文献

Si3N4 ceramics modified with SiC nanofibers were prepared by gel casting aiming to enhance the dielectric and microwave absorption properties at temperatures ranging from 25?°C to 800?°C within X-band (8.2–12.4?GHz). The results indicate that the complex permittivity and dielectric loss are significantly increased with increased weight fraction of SiC nanofibers in the Si3N4 ceramics. Meanwhile, both complex permittivity and dielectric loss of SiC nanofibers modified Si3N4 ceramics are obviously temperature-dependent, and increase with the higher test temperatures. Increased charges mobility along conducting paths made of self-interconnected SiC nanofibers together with multi-scale net-shaped structure composed of SiC nanofibers, Si3N4 grains and micro-pores are the main reason for these enhancements in dielectric properties. Moreover, the calculated microwave absorption demonstrates that much enhanced microwave attenuation abilities can be achieved in the SiC nanofibers modified Si3N4 ceramics, and temperature has positive effects on the microwave absorption performance. The SiC nanofibers modified Si3N4 ceramics will be promising candidates as microwave absorbing materials for high-temperature applications.  相似文献

Fiber-reinforced ceramic matrix composites have excellent mechanical and microwave absorption properties, but still present considerable challenges. We prepared a SiCf/mullite-SiO2 composite (composite A) and a SiCf/Al2O3-SiO2 composite (composite B) by a precursor infiltration and sintering (PIS) process. Compared with the composite B, the composite A was easily densified. The flexural strength of the composite A reached 216 MPa, whereas that of the composite B was 159 MPa. The imaginary part of permittivity for composites A and B, which was determined by the contents of matrix and porosity, varied in the range of 2.5–3.5 and 3.6–5, respectively. The microwave absorption properties of the composite A were significantly enhanced in the range of 8.2–12.4 GHz. The results indicate that an optimal reflection loss of ?44 dB was reached at 12 GHz with a thickness of 2.9 mm for the composite A. These SiC fiber-reinforced oxide matrix materials have promising applications in microwave absorption, especially at high temperatures.  相似文献

Carbon-rich SiC powders with high dielectric loss were prepared via pyrolysis of polycarbosilane (PCS). The effects of pyrolysis temperature on microstructures, dielectric response and microwave absorption properties in X-band (8.2–12.4 GHz) of PCS-derived SiC powders were investigated. The PCS-derived SiC powders are mainly composed of SiC nanocrystal, turbostratic carbon and amorphous phase (SiC and/or C). The size of SiC nanocrystals and the graphitization degree of carbon both increase with the elevation of pyrolysis temperature. Furthermore, the residual carbon is transformed from amorphous into turbostratic structure with a phenomenon of regional enrichment. Moreover, the relative complex permittivity increases notably with the higher pyrolysis temperature. Meanwhile, the dielectric loss tangent increases from 0.19 to 0.57, while the microwave impedance decreases from 73.20 to 53.58. The optimal reflection loss of ?35 dB for PCS-derived SiC powders is obtained when the pyrolysis temperature is 1500 °C, which exhibits a great application prospect in microwave absorbing materials.  相似文献

Electrospun unidirectional SiC fibers reinforced SiCf/SiC composites (e-SiCf/SiC) were prepared with ∼10% volume fraction by polymer infiltration and pyrolysis (PIP) process. Pyrolysis temperature was varied to investigate the changes in microstructures, mechanical, thermal, and dielectric properties of e-SiCf/SiC composites. The composites prepared at 1100 °C exhibit the highest flexural strength of 286.0 ± 33.9 MPa, then reduced at 1300 °C, mainly due to the degradation of electrospun SiC fibers, increased porosity, and reaction-controlled interfacial bonding. The thermal conductivity of e-SiCf/SiC prepared at 1300 °C reached 2.663 W/(m∙K). The dielectric properties of e-SiCf/SiC composites were also investigated and the complex permittivities increase with raising pyrolysis temperature. The e-SiCf/SiC composites prepared at 1300 °C exhibited EMI shielding effectiveness exceeding 24 dB over the whole X band. The electrospun SiC fibers reinforced SiCf/SiC composites can serve as a potential material for structural components and EMI shielding applications in the future.  相似文献

Abstract

Cu doped SiC nanopowders have been prepared via combustion synthesis, using silicon powder and carbon black as the raw materials, copper powder as the doping source and polytetrafluoroethylene as the chemical activator respectively. The microstructure of prepared nanopowders has been characterised by X-ray diffraction and scanning electronic microscope. The electric permittivities of prepared SiC nanopowders in the frequency range of 8·2–12·4 GHz have been determined. Results show that prepared β-SiC nanopowders have fine spherical particles and narrow particle size distribution, and a quantity of SiC whisker increases with increasing Cu doping content. The Cu3Si impurity has been generated when Cu content is up to 10%. The β-SiC doped with 10% Cu has the highest real part ?′ and dielectric loss tanδ values. The 5% Cu doped SiC nanopowder with matching thickness of 2 or 2·5 mm exhibits the best microwave absorption properties in the frequency range of 8·2–12·4 GHz.  相似文献

Unidirectional (UD) silicon carbide (SiC) fiber-reinforced SiC matrix (UD SiCf/SiC) composites with CVI BN interphase were fabricated by polymer infiltration-pyrolysis (PIP) process. The effects of the anisotropic distribution of SiC fibers on the mechanical properties, thermophysical properties and electromagnetic properties of UD SiCf/SiC composites in different directions were studied. In the direction parallel to the axial direction of SiC fibers, SiC fibers bear the load and BN interphase ensures the interface debonding, so the flexural strength and the fracture toughness of the UD SiCf/SiC composites are 813.0 ± 32.4 MPa and 26.1 ± 2.9 MPa·m1/2, respectively. In the direction perpendicular to the axial direction of SiC fibers, SiC fibers cannot bear the load and the low interfacial bonding strengths between SiC fiber/BN interphase (F/I) and BN interphase/SiC matrix (I/M) both decrease the matrix cracking stress, so the corresponding values are 36.6 ± 6.9 MPa and 0.9 ± 0.5 MPa?m1/2, respectively. The thermal expansion behaviors of UD SiCf/SiC composites are similar to those of SiC fibers in the direction parallel to the axial direction of SiC fibers, and are similiar to those of SiC matrix in the direction perpendicular to the axial direction of SiC fibers. The total electromagnetic shielding effectiveness (EM SET) of UD SiCf/SiC composites attains 32 dB and 29 dB when the axial direction of SiC fibers is perpendicular and parallel to the electric field direction, respectively. The difference of conductivity in different directions is the main reason causing the different SET. And the dominant electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding mechanism is absorption for both studied directions.  相似文献

The heat-resistance of the Cansas-II SiC/CVI-SiC mini-composites with a PyC and BN interface was studied in detail. The interfacial shear strength of the SiC/PyC/SiC mini-composites decreased from 15 MPa to 3 MPa after the heat treatment at 1500 °C for 50 h, while that of the SiC/BN/SiC mini-composites decreased from 248 MPa to 1 MPa, which could be mainly attributed to the improvement of the crystallization degree of the interface and the decomposition of the matrix. Aside from the above reasons, the larger declined fraction of the interfacial shear strength of the SiC/BN/SiC mini-composites might also be related to the gaps in the BN interface induced by the volatilization of B2O3·SiO2 phase, leading to a significant larger declined fraction of the tensile strength of the SiC/BN/SiC mini-composites due to the obvious expansion of the critical flaws on the fiber surface. Therefore, compared with the CVI BN interface, the CVI PyC interface has better heat-resistance at high temperatures up to 1500 °C due to the fewer impurities in PyC.  相似文献

The BN interphase of SiC fiber-reinforced SiC matrix (SiCf/SiC) composites was fabricated by dip-coating process with boric acid and urea as precursor. The results show that the tensile strength of SiC fiber decreases about 30% after BN coating treatment, but the BN coating has little influence on the electrical resistivity of SiC fiber. Compared with the as-received SiCf/SiC composites, the SiCf/SiC composites with BN interphase exhibit a toughened fracture behavior, and the flexural strength is about 2 times that of the as-received SiCf/SiC composites. From the microstructural analysis, it can be confirmed that the BN interphase plays a key part in weakening interfacial bonding, which can improve the mechanical properties of SiCf/SiC composites remarkably. Owing to the close dielectric properties between SiC and BN, the complex permittivity of SiCf/SiC composites with and without the BN interphase is similar.  相似文献

Herein, a novel microwave absorbing material with Graphene nanosheets (GNSs) as microwave absorbing filler and magnesia (MgO) as matrix were prepared by hot-pressing sintering. The composites were highly dense with a homogeneous distribution of GNSs. Electrical conductivity, dielectric and microwave absorption properties in X-band were investigated. The results revealed that the electrical conductivity of the GNSs/MgO composites showed a typical percolation-type behavior with a percolation threshold of 3.34 vol%. With GNSs content increased to 3 vol%, the real permittivity, imaginary permittivity and dielectric loss tangent of the composites increased from ~9, ~0 and ~0 to 26–43, 23–28 and 0.55–0.96, respectively. By adjusting the GNSs content, thickness and frequency, the 2.5 vol% GNSs/MgO composite shows the minimum reflection loss of ?36.5 dB at 10.7 GHz and the reflection loss below ?10 dB (90% absorption) ranges from 9.4 to 11.4 GHz with 1.5 mm thickness, exhibiting excellent microwave absorption properties.  相似文献

The feasibility of fabricating a BN matrix/fiber interphase of SiC/SiC composites via electrophoresis deposition (EPD) was investigated based on the simplicity and non-destructiveness of the process and the excellent interfacial modification effects of BN. The BN suspension and SiC fiber surface properties were both adjusted to generate suitable conditions for the EPD process of the BN interphase. Next, the deposition dynamics and mechanism were studied under different deposition voltages and time, and the relationship between the deposition morphology of the BN interphase and mechanical properties of the fabricated mini SiC/SiC composites were also discussed. After oxidation at high temperature (600–1000 ℃), the mechanical properties of the mini SiC/SiC composites were studied to verify the oxidation resistance effect of the EPD-deposited BN interphase, whose oxidation resistance mechanism was briefly analyzed as well.  相似文献

Effects of SiC/HfC ratios on the ablation and mechanical properties of 3D Cf/HfC–SiC composites by precursor impregnation and pyrolysis (PIP) process were investigated systematically. Both strength (flexural and compressive strength) and modulus increase as the SiC/HfC ratio are improved. The compact and stiff HfC-SiC matrix in addition to the carbon fiber and PyC interphase with less reaction damage accounts for the improved mechanical properties of Cf/HfC-SiC with higher SiC/HfC ratios. Meanwhile, both weight loss and erosion depth of Cf/HfC-SiC are improved with the increased SiC/HfC ratios. Therefore, in order to balance the ablation and mechanical properties, an appropriate SiC/HfC ratio should be considered.  相似文献

The SiCf/SiC composites containing various thickness of pyrolytic carbon (PyC) interphase were prepared and their properties were investigated for electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding applications in the frequency of 8.2–12.4 GHz. The composites containing 310 nm thickness (3.3 vol%) PyC interphase show an about 25 dB shielding effectiveness in the whole frequency band. Interestingly, the contribution of reflection to the EMI shielding effectiveness increases and the contribution of absorption decreases as the PyC interphase thickness increases.  相似文献

Excellent microwave absorption properties of porous SiC ceramics were successfully synthesized using SiC/camphene slurries with various polycarbosilane (PCS) contents related to the SiC powder. The compositions of the nanowires (NWs) growth in the pore channels of porous SiC ceramics strongly depended on the pyrolysis atmosphere, with N2-generating Si3N4 NWs and Ar SiC NWs. With the increase of PCS content, the minimum reflection coefficient (RC) of porous SiC ceramics decreased from ?7.6 dB to ?67.4 dB in Ar and from ?10.9 dB to ?24.7 dB in N2, respectively. The effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) of porous SiC ceramics could be up to 8.1 GHz in Ar and 4.5 GHz in N2. The enhanced microwave absorption properties of porous SiC ceramics could be attributed to the formation of SiC nano-crystalline, nanosized carbon and the NWs, which would increase the amount of boundaries and defects, leading to the electronic dipole polarization and interfacial scattering.  相似文献

SiC coating was conducted on C/C composites with rough laminar (RL) or smooth laminar (SL) pyrocarbon matrix separately. The residual stress, elastic modulus and microhardness of RL-SiC (RLS) and SL-SiC (SLS) coatings were investigated. The results showed that compared with SLS, RLS coating possessed smaller residual stress and higher hardness and elastic modulus, which was beneficial for its resistance to cracking and then contributed to the anti-oxidation performance improvement. At temperatures of 300–1400 °C, its mass loss was only 2.41%. At 1500 °C, it showed good self-sealing ability and could provide C/C composites against oxidation at least 120 h.  相似文献

Pitch-based carbon fibers were assembled in horizontal and thickness directions of SiC/SiC composites to form three-dimensional heat conduction networks. The effects of heat conduction networks on microstructures, mechanics, and thermal conductivities were investigated. The results revealed the benefit of introducing heat conduction networks in the densification of composites. The maximum bending strength and interlaminar shear strength of the modified composites reached 568.67 MPa and 68.48 MPa, respectively. These values were equivalent to 18.6% and 69.4% increase compared to those of composites without channels. However, channels in thickness direction destroyed the continuity of fibers and matrix, creating numerous defects. As the volume fraction of heat conduction channels rose, the pinning strengthening effect of channels and influence of defects competed with each other to result in first enhanced mechanical properties followed by a decline. The in-plane thermal conductivity was found anisotropic with a maximum value reaching 86.20 W/(m·K) after introducing pitch-based carbon unidirectional tapes. The thermal conductivity in thickness direction increased with volume fraction of pitch-based carbon fibers and reached 19.13 W/(m·K) at 3.87 vol% pitch-based carbon fibers in the thickness direction. This value was 90.75% higher than that of composites without channels.  相似文献
