Fuzzy concepts always exist in much of human reasoning as well as decision making. This paper presents a fuzzy expert database system which is an integration of a fuzzy expert system building tool called SYSTEM Z-II and a database management system called Rdb/VMS. This system is able to extract fuzzy data and terms stored in a database and used in the fuzzy reasoning in an expert system. It can also retrieve information by fuzzy database-queries which are generated by the expert system automatically. Many expert systems in different domain areas such as decision making can be constructed. Sample applications are described to demonstrate the flexibility and power of this system. The fuzzy query language defined and used in the system can also be used independently as a fuzzy enquiry tool in database applications.  相似文献

An expert system that generates digital system design from high-level specifications is described. It is called MBESDSD, short for model-based expert system for automated digital systems. The system is based on a three-phase model of digital system design. First, the high-level behavioral specifications are translated into a sequence of primitive behavioral operations. Next, these primitive operations are grouped to form intermediate-level behavioral functions. Finally, structural function modules are selected to implement these functions. The advantages of this model-based reasoning technique is that more design solutions are possible and the design is easier to optimize. The design of a popular peripheral device, the ART asynchronous receiver/transmitter, is used to demonstrate the proposed design process using MBESDSD  相似文献

A form model and an expert database system that analyzes instances of the form model to derive a conceptual schema are proposed. The form model describes the properties of form fields such as their origin, hierarchical structure, and cardinality. The expert database design system creates a conceptual schema by incrementally integrating related collections of forms. The rules of the expert systems are divided into six phases form selection; entity identification; attribute attachment; relationship identification; cardinality identification; and integrity constraints. The rules of the first phase use knowledge about the form flow to determine the order in which forms are analyzed. The rules in other phases are used in conjunction with a designer dialog to identify the entities, relationships, and attributes of a schema that represents the collection of forms  相似文献

Although there is an abundance of reference material available, most facility design engineers lack the proficiency required to design ergonomically sound workplaces. This may be due to several factors. This paper presents an initial knowledge-based system to assist a design engineer in achieving an ergonomic workplace design. The developed system is, in reality, a subsystem consisting of the primary module of the knowledge base as a prototype. The root context, Dimensional Design, was selected for prototyping using the Texas Instruments Personal Consultant. A total of 41 parameters were defined for use by the prototype with 13 of those being goal parameters. In addition 57 rules are imbedded into the system.  相似文献

A data base management system which is dedicated to plant layout type data, and should be useful to the practicing industrial engineer, is presented. The data items utilized in the data base for this microcomputer software represent only a minimal subset of the data which one would want for the creation of a proper, industrial facility design; however, they were felt to represent a good starting point for the creation of a microcomputer data base system which would aid a layout engineer. The Knowledgeman software (Micro Data Base Systems, Inc.) was used for this project; it consists of a relational database and an electronic spreadsheet. Two plant layout examples are presented to demonstrate the use of the software.  相似文献

Existing expert systems have a high percentage agreement with experts in a particular field in many situations. However, in many ways their overall behavior is not like that of a human expert. These areas include the inability to give flexible, functional explanations of their reasoning processes, and the failure to degrade gracefully when dealing with problems at the periphery of their knowledge. These two important shortcomings can be improved when the right knowledge is available to the system. This paper presents an expert system design, called the integrated diagnostic model (IDM), that integrates two sources of knowledge, a shallow, reasoning-oriented, experiential knowledge base and a deep, functionally oriented, physical knowledge base. To demonstrate the IDM's usefulness in the problem area of diagnosis and repair, an implementation in the mechanical domain is described.  相似文献

Abstract: The ship design process is a highly data‐oriented, dynamic, iterative and multi‐stage algorithm. It utilizes multiple abstraction levels and concurrent engineering techniques. Specialized techniques for knowledge acquisition, knowledge representation and reasoning must be developed to solve these problems for a ship design expert system. Consequently, very few attempts have been made to model the ship design process using an expert system approach. The current work investigates a knowledge representation–reasoning technique for such a purpose. A knowledge‐based conceptual design was developed by utilizing a prototype approach and hierarchical decompositioning. An expert system program called ALDES (accommodation layout design expert system) was developed by using the CLIPS expert system shell and an object‐oriented user interface. The reasoning and knowledge representation methods of ALDES are explained in the paper. An application of the method is given for the general arrangement design of a containership.  相似文献

The World Wide Web (Web) allows people at remotely located sites to communicate and share their ideas using a common communication protocol. A common use of the Web system is running a client application, using a browsing tool, by pointing to a local or proxy server to browse data written in the hypertext format that contains anchors that address other URLs. In this paper a new application of the Web system for sharing knowledge-based systems and groupware development activities is introduced. An architecture for a Web-based Distributed Expert System (Ex-W-Pert System) is proposed and an implementation of the proposed architecture in groupware design is demonstrated. The resources and knowledge bases are distributed and can be accessed through the internet.  相似文献

作为一种先进的金属零件加工方法,冲压生产在工业领域中已经得到了广泛的应用,但其生产效率的进一步提高却由于冲压模具设计的复杂性和耗时性而受到了较大程度制。CAD技术的引入虽然简化了图形的绘制和处理工作,但对冲模设计当中普遍存在的推理、判断等非数值问题却无能为力。文中利用人工智能技术,在Visual C 5.0环境下实现了一个冲压模方案设计专家系统,用来帮助设计者在模具设计前期完成合理的方案设计。系统在执行设计任务时采用了实例匹配和归纳推理两种不同手段,系统中的设计知识分别采用了数据库记录、链表以及集成了框架、规则和方法的对象等多种形式来表示,各类知识的学习和修改采用了包括神经网络在内的多种机制。  相似文献

The expert system described here designs superstructures for small to medium span highway bridges. The system addresses a domain within the engineering design consultation paradigm. It is installed in a personal microcomputer environment. This paper examines the nature of the bridge design domain as practiced in the United States and its suitability for expert system application. An interactive design tool for designing CODASYL databases is described. The system is composed of three main modules: a user interface, a transaction analyzer, and a core module. The user interface allows a designer to enter interactively information concerning a database design which is to be evaluated. The transaction analyzer allows the designer to specify the processing requirements in terms of typical logical transactions to be executed against the database and translates these logical transaction into physical transaction which access and manipulate the physical databases. The core module is the implementation of a set of analytical models and cost formulas developed for the manipulation of indexed sequential and hash-based files and CODASYL sets. These models and formulas account for the situation in which occurrences of multiple record types are stored in the same area. Also presented are the results of a series of experiments in which key design parameters are varied. The system is implemented in UCSD Pascal running on IBM PCs  相似文献

Knowledge sorting is one way to organize the knowledge acquired from the domain expert(s) and various sources. Well-organized knowledge representation will make rule extraction much easier. This paper describes a knowledge sorting process that was developed to facilitate the rule extraction for a product design expert system. The process capitalizes on the relationships between design attributes and factors, dependent and independent variables, and consists of three stages: identification of knowledge sources, generation of taxonomic trees, and organization of acquired knowledge. The adoption of an expert system approach to flexible pavement design could be especially useful, because of the complexity of the design algorithm involving numerous possible combinations of pavement material types and traffic data, and the heavy reliance on empirical correlations, which can vary from one region or state to another. This paper describes the development of an advisory expert system for flexible pavement design that attempts to mimic the design process of pavement engineering specialists. In recent years, due to the various advantages associated with automation and robotics, much work has been done in developing robotic systems for assembly operations. Since part design plays a major role in assembly, this paper deals with the design of parts for ease of robotic assembly. Considerable knowledge is available in the form of design for robotic assembly rules. In addition, a large amount of data is required for decisions regarding suitability of parts for robotic assembly. The implementation of design for robotic assembly rules would be much easier with the help of an expert system, which would guide the designer toward choosing the design alternative that can best facilitate ease of assembly from a robotic point of view.To this end, a prototype expert system for design for robotic assembly is developed and presented in this paper. The expert system was implemented as a production system, which consists of rules and Object-Attribute-Value (O-A-V) triplets to represent domain knowledge. In order to best utilize the domain specific knowledge, a state space search-based inference mechanism was employed. The implementation of the prototype system is illustrated with examples.  相似文献

In this paper an integrated geographic expert database system is presented which takes advantage of the relational database methodology combined with a geographic information system (GIS) and an expert system (ES). The GIS illustrates the data that are stored in the database after collaboration with the embedded ES. The system is fully implemented and applied to an interesting problem in apiculture.  相似文献

Abstract This paper describes the concepts which allow an expert system to be used for both design diagnosis and design synthesis. An example of the implementation of these concepts is presented in the domain of preliminary design of domestic kitchens in the expert system PREDIKT. PREDIKT carries out both design diagnosis and design synthesis using the same knowledge base and utilises an existing expert system shell which has forward- and backward-chaining capabilities. The significance of graphical interaction with expert systems in design domains is demonstrated.  相似文献
