In this paper, we consider the design and bit-error performance analysis of linear parallel interference cancellers (LPIC) for multicarrier (MC) direct-sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) systems. We propose an LPIC scheme where we estimate and cancel the multiple access interference (MAI) based on the soft decision outputs on individual subcarriers, and the interference cancelled outputs on different subcarriers are combined to form the final decision statistic. We scale the MAI estimate on individual subcarriers by a weight before cancellation. In order to choose these weights optimally, we derive exact closed-form expressions for the bit-error rate (BER) at the output of different stages of the LPIC, which we minimize to obtain the optimum weights for the different stages. In addition, using an alternate approach involving the characteristic function of the decision variable, we derive BER expressions for the weighted LPIC scheme, matched filter (MF) detector, decorrelating detector, and minimum mean square error (MMSE) detector for the considered multicarrier DS-CDMA system. We show that the proposed BER-optimized weighted LPIC scheme performs better than the MF detector and the conventional LPIC scheme (where the weights are taken to be unity), and close to the decorrelating and MMSE detectors.  相似文献

In this paper, we present an accurate analytical method for an asynchronous time-hopping (TH) ultrawideband (UWB) system using multistage interference cancellation (MIC) in multipath fading channels. To model the asynchronous transmission, we first investigate the chip-asynchronous case and extend the results of chip-asynchronous transmission into completely asynchronous transmission as a more general environment. Specifically, the approximate closed-form expression is derived for numerically calculating the average bit-error probability (BEP) of the MIC receivers, which are based on the hard-decision (HD) and soft-decision (SD) detections, respectively. In performing the analysis, the effect of multiple-access interference (MAI) is modeled as a Gaussian process. The results of an interference cancellation (IC) receiver as a function of the ratio between the two types of processing gain—1) pulse combining gain $N_{s}$ and 2) pulse spreading gain $N_{c}$—are analyzed and compared under the constraint that the total processing gain of the system is large and fixed. To build up intuitive knowledge, some remarks on the analytic results are presented to describe the design criterion for the interference suppression. In numerical results, the theoretical analysis is verified via comparison with simulation results in terms of the number of IC stages, the set of cancellation parameters, and the number of users.   相似文献

The performance of space-time transmit diversity is examined in a multiuser direct-sequence code-division multiple-access (DS-CDMA) system over fast- and slow-fading channels. The underlying space-time system employs transmit antennas and receive antennas at the mobile user and receiver base station, respectively. We consider the performance of the space-time multiuser system when using the linear decorrelator detector to combat the effect of multiuser interference. In our analysis, we derive a closed-form expression for the probability of bit error for both fast- and slow-fading channels. These theoretical results are shown to be very accurate when compared to system simulations. Both simulations and theoretical results prove that, regardless of the system load, the full diversity order of for fast-fading channels and for slow-fading channels is always maintained, and only a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) loss is incurred. This SNR loss is proved to be a function of only the number of users (i.e., level of interference) and independent of the number of transmit and/or receive antennas. Using our theoretical results, we show that the loss in SNR from the single-user bound can be well approximated by , where represents the level of multiuser interference.  相似文献

This paper presents a decorrelating detector for DS-CDMAasynchronous systems over multipath fading channels. The decorrelatingreceiver applies the inverse correlation matrix of signature waveformsto detect the received signal. A procedure for finding such an inversematrix is developed. This procedure employs the reciprocal basis,derived from the basis of normalized user signatures, to cancelsimultaneously both the multiuser and the intersymbolinterference. The proposed multiuser detector operates over a finitedetection window, and the only restriction imposed on the set of signaturesis that the signatures must be independent at the receiver end. If the channelis slowly variant, the detectorcan be very efficient for high bit rate transmissions. Theoreticalbounds for the multiuser interference are obtained. Simulationresults, in which both binary and non-binary sequences are used,reveal that the behaviour of the detector approaches the single userbound when an adequate set of signatures is employed. The reducedcomplexity of this detector indicates that it could be a good candidatefor practical implementation.  相似文献

Noncoherent and coherent multicode direct-sequence code-division multiple access (DS-CDMA) systems with successive interference cancellation (SIC) for multimedia reverse links over frequency-selective fading channels are studied. Followed by a RAKE receiver, the SIC scheme is applied for combating the multiple access interference. The bit error rate (BER) using the SIC technique over Nakagami-m fading channels is derived. Simulation results show that the multicode DS-CDMA system with SIC has demonstrated better performance than that without SIC under the multipath fading environment, while their corresponding numerical results from performance analyses are also provided for verifications. Furthermore, the coherent receiver could achieve a more satisfactory BER than the noncoherent counterpart at the expense of synchronization.  相似文献

We propose the use of soft feedback estimates for the PIC detector in aDS-CDMA system with FEC. The soft estimates are computed by the a posterioriof the log-MAP decoder. We compare this method with the conventional methodof using tentative hard decisions to perform interference cancellation at eachstage. Simulations under AWGN and multipath asynchronous channels areperformed for comparison. The bit-error rate (BER) for a forward-link cellulardirect-sequence code-division multiple-access (DS-CDMA) systemis evaluated. This analysis takes into account the effects ofmulti-cell interference resulting from Nakagami multipath fading,frequency selectivity, path loss and mobile user spatialdistribution. Exponentially decaying multipath intensityprofile (MIP) is adopted in the model to investigate itssignificance on the overall performance. In order to evaluatethe BER performance efficiently, saddlepoint integration (SPI)is applied in the analysis. By fixing the number of resolvablemultipaths and varying the number of fingers for the RAKEreceiver, it can be shown that the capacity of a DS-CDMAcellular system increases almost linearly with the number ofRAKE fingers.  相似文献

The linear minimum mean-squared error (MMSE) criterion is known to provide adaptive algorithms for interference suppression in direct-sequence (DS) code-division multiple-access (CDMA) systems. However, standard MMSE adaptation is not robust to fast fading, being unable to compensate for rapid channel variations. In this paper, we provide a framework for deriving robust adaptive algorithms in this setting based on a new differential MMSE (DMMSE) criterion, which is a constrained optimization problem in which the quantity to be tracked is the ratio of the data appearing in two successive observation intervals. When applied to a DS-CDMA system with short spreading waveforms (i.e., with period equal to the symbol interval) operating over a flat-fading channel, the DMMSE criterion avoids tracking the fades, exploiting the negligible variation of the fading gain over two consecutive symbols. For frequency-selective fading, the DMMSE criterion is extended to provide a new eigenrake receiver which provides interference suppression and diversity combining without requiring explicit information regarding the desired user's propagation channel.  相似文献

A hybrid PN-code acquisition scheme is proposed and studied for direct sequence code division multiple access communications in frequency-selective Rayleigh fading channels. The most important feature of the proposed system is its ability to dynamically estimate the number of multipath signals that may lie in the reference channel. The basic idea of the considered algorithm is to sort the partial correlations and carry out successive censoring tests by updating the noise estimation until the first path synchronization. Exact expressions for the probability of false alarm and the mean acquisition time are derived. The performances of the proposed system are then studied and compared with those of the adaptive hybrid acquisition processor (AHAP) and the ordered statistic hybrid acquisition processor (OSHAP). The effects of various channel parameters on the acquisition performance, namely the number of resolvable paths, the multipath intensity profile and the signal-to-noise ratio are also investigated. Numerical results show that the proposed acquisition scheme outperforms the conventional ones which are based on AHAP and OSHAP algorithms.  相似文献

A precise bit-error probability analysis method for multicode DS-CDMA systems in Rayleigh fading is derived. The proposed method applies to a multicode DS-CDMA system with an arbitrary number of multiple code sequences and any selection of multiple code sequences. The method gives accurate results for Rayleigh fading while requiring only a single numerical integration of an integrand involving the well-known Q-function. The solution discriminates the effect of the selection of different multiple code sequences on the bit-error probability, whereas Gaussian approximations do not. Numerical examples show that the differences between exact and approximate methods for a multicode DS-CDMA system operating over Rayleigh fading channels may be more significant than for a single code system in Rayleigh fading channels or for a multicode system in AWGN channels when the spreading factor is not significantly large compared to the number of multiple code sequences.  相似文献

This paper examines the performance of a multicarrier CDMA system in a Rayleigh fading channel without a RAKE receiver. Since the multicarrier technique is a diversity reception technique used in the frequency domain, the signal is transmitted at different frequency bands and undergoes different fading. The superimposed signal of the multipath components after going through the mobile channel will be processed by an Fourier Transform to enter the frequency domain, where the time delays in various paths are converted to the phase shifts in the compound signal. In this paper, we use sounding bits to extract the characteristics of the mobile channel and to partly remove the multipath effect. From the simulation, it is found that the multicarrier technique is simpler than the technique used in the single carrier system with a RAKE receiver while producing a better performance than that of the RAKE receiver.  相似文献

The throughput enhancement of Space-Time Spreading (STS)-based Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) system is investigated in this paper. Adaptive Modulation is utilized to improve the data throughput of the system in multipath Rayleigh fading channel. In this contribution, an analytical approach is proposed to compute a new expression for the Bit Error Rate (BER) performance and the output Signal-to-Interference-and-Noise Ratio (SINR) of the RAKE receiver-assisted STS-based CDMA system for QAM data, considering multipath and multiuser interferences. The other contribution of the paper is deriving a new closed form expression for computing the throughput enhancement and the BER performance of the adaptive modulated STS-based CDMA system over multipath fading channel. Simulation and analytical results demonstrate that using adaptive modulation method in this system improves the average throughput by keeping the BER performance at a target level. The novel expressions presented in this paper bring out the facility of evaluation of the proposed system with no need to more calculations and simulations.

This work studies ultra wideband (UWB) communications over multipath residential indoor channels. We study the relationship between the fading margin and the transmitter–receiver separation distance for both the line of sight and the no line of sight scenarios. One of the efficient schemes to overload a CDMA system is to use two sets of orthogonal signal waveforms (O/O) Sari, Vanhaverbeke and Moeneclaey, IEEE Communication Magazine, 56–59, 2000. In this paper, we have presented the analysis of hard decision interference cancellation (HDIC) receiver for O/O overloaded DS-CDMA system. A closed form expression for the average bit error rate (BER) is obtained, for each stage of HDIC receiver, without considering the correlation between the multiple access interference and Gaussian noise. It is observed that at lower overloadings, analytical result matches closely to that obtained from simulation. But there is a difference between two at higher overloadings. The reason for such a difference is the inaccuracy in variance calculation due to the assumption of zero correlation. By using the Price’s theorem, we have obtained the correlation between tentative data decision and Gaussian noise samples. The overloading performance of a specific Quasi-synchronous sequence (QOS) O/O scheme is also evaluated using interference cancellation receivers.  相似文献

The parallel interference cancellation for multi-carrier DS-CDMA (which is termed FDC-PIC) is proposed by integrating frequency diversity combination. The simulations are made over FDC-PIC with respect to different decision ways hard, soft and linear decisions, respectively, and we conclude that FDC-PIC acquires superior performance improvement over correlation reception of multi-carrier DS CDMA. With an increase in interference cancellation stages, the system performance is improved further. The initial 2 stages bring about the most dominant performance improvement, but up to the 3rd stage the system performance is improved little. It is also shown by the simulation results that FDC-PIC with soft decision would exhibit the best performance with a high implementation complexity, while FDC-PIC with linear decision acquires performance comparable to that of FDC-PIC with soft decision with a reduced-complexity if the number of the interference cancellation stages is the same, which indicates that FDC-PIC with linear decision has optimal performance/complexity tradeoff and therefore will be suitable for practical application in future.  相似文献
