This paper considers the compression properties of yarns. A model is proposed which predicts the behaviour of yarns in compression; the model takes account of the structural characteristics of yarns and the finite dimensions of fibres. A device is described which has been successfully used to measure the effects of compression forces on the dimensions of yarn cross-sections.A comparison between the theoretical behaviour of yarns and experimental results demonstrates the good predictive ability of the theory. 相似文献

This article presents a new computer geometric modelling approach for three-dimensional of two-ply yarn structures with filament assembly model. The geometric of individual filaments in two-ply yarn structures with uncompressed and compressed states were studied. In the uncompressed state the filaments in ply yarns have the form of coaxial double wound helices; we simulate the paths of these filaments in the ply yarns. In the compressed state the transformation of the initial filament distribution from the uncompressed state into the distribution after compression by a transverse force. The ply yarns cross-section uses the concept of virtual locations to simulate the filament distributions. Each cross-section is rotated along the single yarn and the ply yarn length. The curve of each filament in each two successive cross-sections is approximated by NURBS and then each curve is created by sweeping a closed curve along the centerline of the single yarn and ply yarn path. The method described is demonstrated in the uncompressed and compressed state of two-ply yarns by the CAD model using geometric parameters of the double-rove acrylic-fiber yarns. The simulation using this approach can demonstrate more realistic and improved visual simulations of real two-ply yarns. 相似文献

In this study, natural staple yarns of cotton and wool were investigated for wicking properties. Fibre packing density reflected by yarn wicking rates was measured in ply cotton yarns. It was seen that with the samples measured in this work, both twist level and number of ply in a yarn can affect yarn wicking behavior. When twist and yarn count remained unchanged, wool yarns with different fibre diameters were measured for wicking rates and the best wicking was found on the yarn with the coarsest fibre diameter. Comparison was made in this work on the treatment methods, and on both synthetic continuous filament yarns and the natural staple yarns. While prewash treatment could improve yarn wicking by changing fibre surface condition, plasma treatment was a more effective way in increasing yarn wicking rate for both filament yarns and staple yarns. 相似文献

Previous investigators of the theory of balloon formation in over-end unwinding of yarn from cylindrical packages have made the simplifying assumption that the yarn is inextensible. In this paper, the balloon equations for a linear elastic yarn are derived, and numerical solutions of these equations for small values of the elastic parameter are presented. It is concluded that the inclusion of elasticity in the theoretical model leads to a decrease in the tension in the balloon and a decrease in the balloon radius. However, for the range of elastic parameters encountered in real yarns, this effect is very slight. 相似文献

It is shown how use of these parameters enables an existing fancy yarn to be reproduced without resorting to empirical methods and new yarns exhpirical special pre–selected effects to be created. A scaled-up model of the air-jet has recently thrown more light on the mechanism of the process and on the construction of bulked yarns of the Taslan type. This in turn has led to a mechanical method of simulating the air-jet action. The simulation of the process has been so effective that yarns of the air-jet-bulked type can now be produced by a novel method that does not use the air-jet. The apparatus is described, together with certain processing requirements found necessary for maintaining product quality. The new process is analysed mathematically, and comments are made regarding its feasibility as a possible commercial method of making yarns of the air-textured type without using compressed air. 相似文献

In this paper a novel method based on a genetic algorithm is proposed to recognize the layout of color yarns of yarn‐dyed fabric from the color pattern. The principle of a genetic algorithm is described first, and then the theories of roulette wheel selection method, crossover operation, and mutation operation are explained with the practical problem. Elitist selection is used to search for the correct result of the layout of color yarns. Some new chromosomes are added to the new generation in the genetic algorithm to avoid the local optimization. The repeat element of the layout of color yarns is then detected with period extraction. The repeat element of color pattern with the layout of color yarns is output together. Experiments on some color patterns recognized from actual yarn‐dyed fabrics, some color patterns simulated manually, and some color patterns including error color information of floats prove that the method proposed in this paper is effective for detecting the layout of color yarns from the color pattern of yarn‐dyed fabric, and it has a fault‐tolerance ability to some degree. 相似文献

A study is reported in which fancy yarns were made by the wrap-spinning process with a range of machine conditions and fibre supplies. The initial exploration identified the important control parameters and showed up characteristic yarn features. A particular bouclé-derivative yarn was especially interesting and was termed ‘terry-pile profile’. The main aim of this work is to study of the effect of yarn periodic irregularities on the plain weave fabric appearance using an image analysis method. The pattern of fabric faults was simulated using a prepared computer program. In the experimental stage, two different types of yarn were prepared. The first yarn was produced with a certain wavelength and the second yarn was prepared with a strong periodic irregularity using an open-end spinning machine. The wavelength of the open-end yarn fault was measured by using an Uster 4 automatic evenness tester. For practical examination, the yarns were used as weft in a shuttle loom machine and two types of fabrics were produced. Using image processing, the number and size of the diamond bar patterns, and also the theoretical wavelength of the weft yarn, were calculated. The wavelengths calculated theoretically were compared with the actual wavelengths of the weft yarns. The results showed an acceptable accuracy of the method. 相似文献
