Fiber optic telecommunications is a well-established discipline which finds applications in all industrial areas for signaling and control. However, fiber optics for intrinsic sensing of fluid levels, gas presence, temperature, pressure, or rotation, is rapidly being applied to the medical, petrochemical, and marine professions. Not to be overlooked are several new fiber optic sensing techniques which are now capable of accurately measuring electric current, voltage levels, and even breaker status. By monitoring such parameters, the power industry can take full advantage of the benefits of fiber optics, especially in high electromagnetic field environments. This paper surveys those techniques and experiences with fiber optic sensing applicable to today's power industry. 相似文献

基于干涉仪的相位调制型光纤传感器具有极高的灵敏度,其中探测微弱光信号的光电信号检测电路起着重要的作用。针对光纤振动传感器系统,分析了PIN光电二极管前放电路和典型跨阻抗PIN-FET的组件电路,为减小前放I/V变换电路中跨阻阻值很大而带来的热噪声,设计了T型电阻网络。利用结构简单、性价比高的PIN光电二极管的前放检测和滤波器电路,对Sagnac干涉仪的输出的光信号进行了检测。实验表明该电路有效地降低了输出光电流噪声的均方值,其性能可靠,完全满足振动传感器的实际应用的测量要求。 相似文献

针对光纤电压传感器存在的温度稳定性问题,分析了多种温度补偿方法。根据实验得到的数据,对比了各方法补偿前后的效果,认为单一的补偿方法难以达到设计要求,提出了集双光路补偿、温控法和软件补偿为一体的综合补偿方法,达到了0.1%的精度。 相似文献

介绍了一种将对射和螺旋两种结构结合在一起的光纤液位传感器。该传感器以两根侧发光光纤为基础,其中一根作为发射光纤,另一根作为接收光纤,当液面变化引起外部介质折射率发生变化时,发射光纤中光功率的损耗量会发生变化,耦合进入接收光纤的光功率会随之变化,通过检测此变化量即可获知液面高度信息。相对于直接使用两根直侧发光光纤对射的结构而言,螺旋结构的引入会提高光功率相对变化量,从而使其获得更好的性能。实验结果表明,该传感器能够实现液位的连续测量,并具有较好的重复性能。 相似文献

A set of ten experiments designed to introduce undergraduate electrical engineering students to the area of fiber optics is described. The projects include measurement of pertinent parameters of optical fibers, sources, and detectors (the major components of fiber optic systems), the construction of a simple fiber optic communication link, the use of an optical fiber as a sensor of acoustic waves, and the making of a holographic optical element to serve as a fiber coupler. The maintenance and repair of underground cable power networks often requires the discrimination of energized cables among a group of unenergized ones. Presently, an invasive detection method is performed which requires utility personnel to puncture the protective cable shielding, creating a potentially hazardous situation. This paper presents a noninvasive approach for energized cable detection based on the electrically induced acoustic waves inside of the cable. The influence of background electric fields on the performance of this approach is studied. In addition, the use of a fiber optic acoustic sensor would significantly increase the safety of the detection procedure, borrowing on the intrinsic electrically insulating properties of optical fibers (i.e. dielectric, immunity to electromagnetic interference, etc.). Feasibility studies and preliminary experiments were performed using a fiber Fabry-Pérot interferometric acoustic sensor. The performance of the fiber optic sensor is compared with that of a piezoelectric accelerometer. A detailed analysis of the test results is included. Recommendations are given for correct interpretation of test results based on the specifics of a power system and sensor type. 相似文献
