Structured lipids (SLs) containing palmitic, oleic, and docosahexaenoic acids for possible use in infant formulas were synthesized by enzymatic acidolysis reactions. The substrates used were tripalmitin, extra virgin olive oil free fatty acids (EVOOFFA), and docosahexaenoic acid single cell oil free fatty acids (DHASCOFFA) in 1:1:1, 1:2:1, 1:3:2, 1:4:2, and 1:5:1 molar ratios. Reactions were carried out at 65 °C for 24 h using Lipozyme® TL IM lipase. The products were analyzed for total and positional fatty acids by GC-FID, triacylglycerol (TAG) molecular species by HPLC-ELSD, and thermal behavior by DSC. The SLs, SL132, SL142, and SL151 had desirable fatty acid distribution for infant formula use with nearly 60 mol% palmitic acid at the sn-2 position and oleic acid predominantly at the sn-1,3 positions. The total DHA content of SL132, SL142, and SL151 were 7.54, 6.72, and 5.89 mol%, respectively. The major TAG molecular species in the SLs were PPP, OPO, and PPO. The melting completion temperature of SL132 was 37.1, 35.2 °C in SL142, and 32.9 °C in SL151. The SLs synthesized in this study have potential use in infant formulas.  相似文献

This work aims to produce triacylglycerols (TAG) containing a medium-chain fatty acid (M) at positions sn-1,3 and a long-chain fatty acid (L) at sn-2 position, i.e. TAG of MLM type, by acidolysis of virgin olive oil with caprylic (C8:0) or capric (C10:0) acids, catalyzed by 1,3-selective Rhizopus oryzae heterologous lipase (rROL) immobilized in Eupergit® C and modified sepiolite. This lipase was produced by the methylotrophic yeast Pichia pastoris. Reactions were performed at 25 and 40 °C, for 24 h, either in solvent-free or in n-hexane media, at a molar ratio 1:2 (olive oil:free fatty acid). Higher incorporations of C8:0 (21.6 mol%) and C10:0 (34.8 mol%) into the TAG were attained in solvent-free media, at 40 °C, when rROL immobilized in Eupergit® C was used. In organic media, at 40 °C, only 15.9 and 14.1 mol%, incorporation of C8:0 or C10:0 were, respectively observed. Lower incorporations were attained for both acids (3.4–7.0 mol%) when native ROL (nROL) in both supports and rROL in modified sepiolite were used. rROL in Eupergit® C maintained its activity during the first four or three 23-h batches, respectively when C8:0 (half-life time, t 1/2 = 159 h) or C10:0 (t 1/2 = 136 h) were used, decreasing thereafter following a time delay model.  相似文献

Physical blends (PB) of high oleic sunflower oil and tristearin with 20 and 30% stearic acid and their interesterified (IE) products where 20 and 30% of the fatty acids are stearic acid at the sn-2 position crystallized without and with application of high intensity ultrasound (HIU). IE samples were crystallized at supercooling temperatures (ΔT) of 12, 9, 6, and 3 °C while PB were crystallized at ΔT = 12 °C. HIU induced crystallization in PB samples, but not in the IE ones. Induction in crystallization with HIU was also observed at ΔT = 6 and 3 °C for IE C18:0 20 and 30% and at ΔT = 9 °C only for the 30% samples. Smaller crystals were obtained in all sonicated samples. Melting profiles showed that HIU induced crystallization of low melting triacylglycerols (TAGs) and promoted co-crystallization of low and high melting TAGs. In general, HIU significantly changed the viscosity, G′, and G″ of the IE 20% samples except at ΔT = 12 °C. While G′ and G″ of IE 30% did not increase significantly, the viscosity increased significantly at ΔT = 9, 6, and 3 °C from 1526 ± 880 to 6818 ± 901 Pa.s at ΔT = 3 °C. The improved physical properties of the sonicated IE can make them good contenders for trans-fatty acids replacers.  相似文献

Barth syndrome (BTHS) is an X-linked genetic disease resulting in loss of cardiolipin (Ptd2Gro). Patients may be predisposed to hypoglycemia and exhibit increases in whole-body glucose disposal rates and a higher fat mass percentage. We examined the reasons for this in BTHS lymphoblasts. BTHS lymphoblasts exhibited a 60% increase (p < 0.004) in 2-[1,2-3H(N)]deoxy-d-glucose uptake, a 40% increase (p < 0.01) in glucose transporter-3 protein expression, an increase in phosphorylated-adenosine monophosphate kinase (AMPK) and a 58% increase (p < 0.001) in the phosphorylated-AMPK/AMPK ratio compared to controls. In addition, BTHS lymphoblasts exhibited a 90% (p < 0.001) increase in d-[U-14C]glucose incorporated into 1,2,3-triacyl-sn-glycerol (TAG) and a 29% increase (p < 0.025) in 1,2-diacyl-sn-glycerol acyltransferase-2 activity compared to controls. Thus, BTHS lymphoblasts exhibit increased glucose transport and increased glucose utilization for TAG synthesis. These results may, in part, explain why BTHS patients exhibit an increase in whole-body glucose disposal rates, may be predisposed to hypoglycemia and exhibit a higher fat mass percentage.  相似文献

The fatty acid moiety of 2-monoacyl-sn-glycerol (2-MAG) undergoes spontaneous acyl migration to the sn-1(3) position, resulting in a thermodynamic equilibrium of approximately 1:9 of 2-MAG to 1(3)-monoacyl-sn-glycerol (1-MAG). Spontaneous acyl migration is an impediment to synthesizing and isolating specific 2-MAG for use as intermediates in the synthesis of structured triacylglycerols. 2-Monooleoyl-sn-glycerol was synthesized by the enzymatic ethanolysis of triolein and isolated by liquid CO2 extraction. The resultant MAG, diacylglycerol, and fatty acid ethyl esters were quantified by 1H NMR and supercritical fluid chromatography. The low polarity of the CO2 and mild extraction temperature (25 °C) resulted in very low spontaneous acyl migration rates, allowing the MAG to be isolated in 80% yield and in a very high 2-MAG:1-MAG ratios of ≥93 mol%.  相似文献

The chemical interesterification of blends of soybean (SO) and fully hydrogenated crambe oil (FHCO) in the ratios of 80:20, 75:25, 70:30, 65:35, and 60:40 (w/w), respectively, was investigated. FHCO is a source of behenic acid. The blends and the interesterified fats were analyzed for fatty acid and triacylglycerol composition, regiospecific distribution, slip melting point, solid profile, and consistency. The regiospecific analysis of the TAG indicated random insertion of saturated fatty acids at sn-2 of the glycerol of the interesterified blends with more significant alterations at sn-2 than at sn-1 and sn-3. The gradual addition of FHCO increased the solid fat content and the slip melting point. The chemical interesterification formed new TAG facilitating the miscibility between SO and FHCO. The 70:30 interesterified blend was suitable for general use, 60:40 for use as a base stock. At 35 °C, the 65:35 interesterified blend showed suitable plasticity for use in products with fat contents below 80 %. FHCO, rich in behenic acid, is not associated with increased total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol, and it can be used as a low trans fat. FHCO is not associated with increased total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol, and it can be used as a low trans fat alternative.  相似文献

We have recently reported the identification of forty new minor molecular species of acylglycerols containing hydroxy fatty acids less polar than triricinolein by electrospray ionization mass spectrometry of the lithium adducts. The ratios of regioisomers of triacylglycerols (ABC and AAB types) and tetraacylglycerols (AAAB type) identified were estimated by the relative abundances of the fragment ions from the neutral losses of fatty acids as α,β-unsaturated fatty acids at the sn-2 position. The order of the contents of regioisomers of triacylglycerols with the fatty acids at the sn-2 position are: nonhydroxy fatty acids > monohydroxy fatty acids > dihydroxy fatty acids > trihydroxy fatty acids. For tetraacylglycerols (AAAB type) such as ricinoleoylricinoleoyl–ricinoleoyl–oleoyl–glycerol (RRRO), ricinoleoylricinoleoyl chain was predominately at the sn-2 position, while ricinoleate was not detected at the sn-2 position.  相似文献

Enzymatic extraction of oil from Kalahari melon seeds was investigated and evaluated by response surface methodology (RSM). Two commercial protease enzyme products were used separately: Neutrase® 0.8 L and Flavourzyme® 1000 L from Novozymes (Bagsvaerd, Denmark). RSM was applied to model and optimize the reaction conditions namely concentration of enzyme (20–50 g kg?1 of seed mass), initial pH of mixture (pH 5–9), incubation temperature (40–60 °C), and incubation time (12–36 h). Well fitting models were successfully established for both enzymes: Neutrase 0.8 L (R 2 = 0.9410) and Flavourzyme 1000 L (R 2 = 0.9574) through multiple linear regressions with backward elimination. Incubation time was the most significant reaction factor on oil yield for both enzymes. The optimal conditions for Neutrase 0.8 L were: an enzyme concentration of 25 g kg?1, an initial pH of 7, a temperature at 58 °C and an incubation time of 31 h with constant shaking at 100 rpm. Centrifuging the mixture at 8,000g for 20 min separated the oil with a recovery of 68.58 ± 3.39%. The optimal conditions for Flavourzyme 1000 L were enzyme concentration of 21 g kg?1, initial pH of 6, temperature at 50 °C and incubation time of 36 h. These optimum conditions yielded a 71.55 ± 1.28% oil recovery.  相似文献

Background

A proprietary composition GMCT contains extracts of two popular Asian herbs viz., Garcinia mangostana (GM) fruit rind and Cinnamomum tamala (CT) leaf. We systematically evaluated physical performance and muscle strength enhancing ability of GMCT in a preclinical mouse model followed by a 42-days double-blind placebo controlled human trial in resistance trained adult males.

Methods

Four groups of Swiss albino mice (20–30 g body weight) (n?=?6) were fed a standard laboratory diet and given Carboxymethylcellulose sodium (CMC), 150 mg/kg GMCT (GMCT-150), 300 mg/kg GMCT (GMCT-300) or 50 mg/kg Oxymetholone (OXY) via oral gavage for 21 days. On day 22, the animals’ physical performance and muscle strength were assessed in a forced swimming test (FST) and forelimb grip strength experiment, respectively. In the human trial, thirty-eight resistance-trained young adults (mean age 26.32?±?4.39 years, body weight 67.79?±?12.84 kg, BMI 22.92?±?3.54 kg/m2) completed the trial. The participants received either GMCT (n?=?19; 800 mg daily) or matched placebo (n?=?19) for 42 days. As primary variables, 1-RM bench press, 1-RM leg press, and leg extension repetitions were measured at baseline and on days 14, 28 and 42 of the intervention. Anthropometric parameters and serum markers such as free testosterone, insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1), insulin and lactate were also measured before and after the intervention.

Results

GMCT-300 mice showed significant improvement in swimming time (GMCT: 395.3?±?81.70 s vs. CMC: 271.6?±?56.86 s; p?=?0.0166), distance (GMCT: 341.22?±?65.88 m vs. CMC: 260.84?±?49.15 m; p?=?0.0461) and grip strength (GMCT: 43.92?±?6.97 N vs. CMC: 35.0?±?6.92 N; p?=?0.0490), compared with the CMC group. At the end of the 42-day human trial, the per protocol analyses reveal that mean changes from baseline 1-RM bench press (GMCT: 23.47?±?10.07 kg vs. PL: 3.42?±?2.06 kg; p?<?0.0001), leg press (GMCT: 29.32?±?16.17 kg vs. PL: 5.21?±?1.72 kg; p?<?0.0001), number of leg extension repetitions (GMCT: 6.58?±?2.57 vs. PL: 2.05?±?1.22; p?<?0.0001) in GMCT group were significantly improved, compared with placebo. Intergroup difference analyses show that the changes from baseline left arm (GMCT: 1.09?±?0.36 cm vs. PL: 0.68?±?0.42 cm; p?=?0.0023), right arm (GMCT: 1.50?±?0.44 cm vs. PL: 1.11?±?0.43 cm; p?=?0.0088) circumference and lean mass (GMCT: 2.29?±?2.09 kg vs. PL: 0.52?±?2.58 kg; p?=?0.0404) in GMCT group were also significantly improved, compared with placebo. In comparison to placebo, GMCT supplementation did not improve free testosterone, IGF-1, insulin or lactate levels. Parameters of clinical biochemistry, hematology, urine and vital signs of the participants were within the normal range.

Conclusion

GMCT supplementation is effective in increasing muscle strength, muscle size and, total lean mass, as well as endurance performance.Trial Registration.Clinical Trial Registry of India (CTRI/2015/01/005374), Registered on Jan 07, 2015; CTRI Website URL - http://ctri.nic.in

The tribological properties of biobased and petroleum-based base oils in the entire lubrication regime were investigated. High oleic sunflower oil (HOSuO) and commercially available polyalphaolefin (PAO-6) were selected to represent biobased and petroleum-based base oils, respectively. These two oils had similar viscosity and pressure-viscosity coefficient at 40 °C, but differed in their chemical structures and many other properties. Tribological tests were conducted on a high frequency reciprocating rig tribometer at 40 and 75 °C, for 60 min, 1000 gf load, and variable combinations of frequency and stroke length. Lubrication regimes were quantified using the Hersey number (H) which was calculated from lubricant viscosity and test parameters (load, frequency, stroke length). The key tribological test outputs were coefficient of friction (COF); film thickness (h) expressed in % from contact resistance measurement; and ball wear scar diameter (WSD). Analysis of experimental data showed that the biobased HOSuO provided lower COF, thicker lubricant film, and lower WSD than the petroleum-based PAO-6, in all lubrication regimes and at both temperatures (40 and 75 °C). The difference in these properties between the two oils, [Δ(COF), Δ(WSD), Δ(h)], were the greatest in the boundary regimes (low H values) where the polar chemical structure of the biobased lubricant played a dominant role.  相似文献

In this study, we measured nitrous oxide (N2O) fluxes from plots of fall-planted hairy vetch (HV, Vicia villosa) and spring-planted broadleaf vetch (BLV, Vicia narbonensis) grown as nitrogen (N) sources for following summer forage crabgrass (Digitaria sanguinalis). Comparisons also included 60 kg ha?1 inorganic N fertilizer for crabgrass at planting (60-N) and a control without N fertilizer. Each treatment had six replicated plots across the slope. Fluxes were measured with closed chamber systems during the period between spring growth of cover crops and first-cut of crabgrass in mid-July. HV had strong stand and aboveground biomass had 185?±?50 kg N ha?1 (mean?±?standard error, n?=?6) at termination. However, BLV did not establish well and aboveground biomass had only 35?±?15 kg N ha?1. Ratio vegetation index of crabgrass measured as proxy of biomass growth was highest in HV treatment. However, total aboveground biomass of crabgrass was statistically similar to 60-N plots. Fluxes of N2O were low prior to termination of cover crops but were as high as 8.2 kg N2O ha?1 day?1 from HV plots after termination. The fluxes were enhanced by large rainfall events recorded after biomass incorporation. Rainfall enhanced N2O fluxes were also observed in other treatments, but their magnitudes were much smaller. The high N2O fluxes from HV plots contributed to emissions of 30.3?±?12.4 kg N2O ha?1 within 30 days of biomass incorporation. Emissions were only 2.0?±?0.7, 3.4?±?1.3 and 1.0?±?0.4 kg N2O ha?1 from BLV, 60-N and control plots, respectively.  相似文献

The present research deals with the synthesis of structured triacylglycerols (TAG) by enzymatic treatment of sn-1,3-diacylglycerol (sn-1,3-DAG) with conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) isomers using the immobilized lipase from Rhizomucor miehei (Lipozyme® IM) under different experimental conditions. In particular, the influence of reaction parameters, such as temperature, enzymatic load, reaction time and DAG/CLA ratio has been evaluated using an experimental design software with a screening objective. Two responses have been selected, they are the percentage of CLA isomers in total TAG and in the sn-2- position and a three-level-4-factor fractional factorial experimental design was used to screen the variables. The results showed that the selected experimental variables have an influence on the enzymatic reaction, in particular, the DAG/CLA substrate ratio and the temperature, both of which inversely correlated with CLA incorporation, but also the enzymatic load and the reaction time, both directly correlated with CLA incorporation. The best results for CLA isomer % content both in total TAG (46.3%) and in the sn-2- position (52.2%) were obtained at 40 °C for 96 h, with 20% enzymatic load and a 0.5 reactive ratio.  相似文献

Two substrate blends (8:6:6 and 6:6:9, by weight) of anhydrous butterfat (ABF), palm stearin (PS), and flaxseed oil (FSO) were interesterified by immobilized lipases. The reaction was carried out in the absence of solvent at 60 °C for 24 h in a 1-L tank stirred-batch type reactor. In terms of equivalent carbon number (ECN) of triacylglycerol (TAG), the areas of ECN 36-38 (from FSO) and ECN 48-50 (from PS) decreased during the interesterification while ECN 42–46 increased with increasing reaction time. As interesterification time increased, the decreased enthalpy (?H), peak temperature (T P) and transition range were observed. After short path distillation, interesterified fat (IF) was produced in which α-linolenic acid contents (ALn, mol%) of the 8:6:6 and 6:6:9 IF were 15.7 and 21.7%, respectively. Tocopherol, cholesterol and phytosterol contents in each IF were significantly reduced after short path distillation. In this study, hardness of 6:6:9 IF and 8:6:6 IF were 217 and 800 g/cm2, respectively. After interesterification, short spacing at 4.6 Å disappeared or weakened, indicating that the predominant polymorphic form had changed from the β form to the desirable crystalline structure of the β′ form.  相似文献

The potential cause–effect relationship between uric acid plasma concentrations and HDL functionality remains elusive. Therefore, this study aimed to explore the effect of oxonic acid (OA)-induced hyperuricemia on the HDL size distribution, lipid content of HDL subclasses, and apo AI turnover, as well as HDL functionality in New Zealand white rabbits. Experimental animals received OA 750 mg/kg/day by oral gavage during 21 days. The HDL-apo AI fractional catabolic rate (FCR) was determined by exogenous labeling with 125I, and HDL subclasses were determined by sequential ultracentrifugation and PAGE. Paraoxonase-1 activity (PON-1) and the effect of HDL on relaxation of aorta rings in vitro were determined as an indication of HDL functionality. Oxonic acid induced a sixfold increase of uricemia (0.84 ± 0.06 vs. 5.24 ± 0.12 mg/dL, P < 0.001), and significant decreases of triglycerides and phospholipids of HDL subclasses, whereas HDL size distribution and HDL-cholesterol remained unchanged. In addition, HDL-apo AI FCR was significantly higher in hyperuricemic rabbits than in the control group (0.03697 ± 0.0038 vs. 0.02605 ± 0.0017 h?1 respectively, P < 0.05). Such structural and metabolic changes were associated with lower levels of PON-1 activities and deleterious effects of HDL particles on endothelium-mediated vasodilation. In conclusion, hyperuricemia is associated with structural and metabolic modifications of HDL that result in impaired functionality of these lipoproteins. Our data strongly suggest that uric acid per se exerts deleterious effects on HDL that contribute to increase the risk of atherosclerosis.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to induce crystallization in enzymatically interesterified fats (IE) with 20 and 30% palmitic acid at the sn-2 position using high intensity ultrasound (HIU). The physical blends (PB) used to prepare these two IE were consisted of tripalmitin and high oleic sunflower oil and contained 13.2 and 27.1% tripalmitin, respectively. Crystallization behavior of IE was compared with PB at supercoolings of 9, 6 and 3 °C. Results show that the melting point, SFC, and crystallization rate of PB were higher than IE and were driven mainly by tripalmitin content. HIU induced crystallization and generated small crystals in the IE samples. At 9 °C supercooling, sonication did not increase the viscosity of IE C16:0 20%, while that of the IE C16:0 30% increased significantly from 192.4 ± 118.9 to 3297.7 ± 1368.6 Pa·s. The elastic modulus (G’) for IE C16:0 30% increased from 12521 ± 2739.8 to 75076.7 ± 18259 Pa upon sonication at 9 °C supercooling, while the G’ of the IE C16:0 20% did not increase. Similar behavior was observed for the other supercoolings tested. This research suggests that HIU can improve the functional properties of IE with low content of C16:0 creating more viscous and elastic materials. These fats with low C16:0 content and improved functional properties could be used as trans-free fat alternatives.  相似文献

The effects of three emulsifying methods on ruminal fatty acid biohydrogenation (BH) in vitro were compared. Using a static in-vitro gas test system, four replicates of each treatment were incubated in buffered ruminal fluid. Hemicellulose (300 mg dry matter) was supplemented either with or without linoleic acid (9c12c-18:2, 5% in diet dry matter) and incubated for 4 and 24 h. Three methods of emulsifying 9c12c-18:2 were tested: (1) ethanol, (2) Tween® 80, and (3) sonication. The products were then compared to non-emulsified 9c12c-18:2. Out of the three emulsifying methods tested, ethanol and sonication resulted in stable 9c12c-18:2 emulsions, indicating good 9c12c-18:2 distribution, while the Tween® 80 emulsion was less stable. BH was strongly inhibited by treating 9c12c-18:2 with ethanol and sonication at different steps of the BH-pathway, resulting in changed concentrations of certain BH intermediates. The fatty acid profile generated from the major BH-pathways of 9c12c-18:2 with Tween® 80 was comparable to that without emulsification after 24 h of incubation. We conclude that it is not recommended to emulsify lipids before incubating them in vitro when investigating fatty acid BH. If emulsification of 9c12c-18:2 is necessary, Tween® 80 seems to be the method that interferes least with BH.  相似文献

Adenanthera pavonina L. is indigenous to Pakistan a proximate analysis of the seeds was carried out and a physicochemical characterization of the seed oil and also a quality evaluation of the oil was made. The hexane-extracted oil content of the seed was 13.32 ± 0.55 %. Analysis showed the seed of A. pavonina contained appreciable amounts of protein (22.14 ± 0.78 %). Fiber and ash contents were 3.13 ± 0.64 and 4.53 ± 0.47 %, respectively. Triacylglycerol (97.51 ± 1.12 %) was predominantly present in the seed oil. Unsaponifiable matter (0.95 ± 0.10 %), peroxide value (11.43 ± 0.51 mequiv./kg) and saponification value (196.3 ± 0.87 mg of KOH/g of oil), iodine value (83.73 ± 1.18 g I/100 g oil) are in close agreement with the edible seed oils. α-Tocopherol was the predominant tocopherol 152.33 ± 13.19 mg/kg of oil while sterols are present at a significant level. Linoleic acid (42.97 ± 0.91 %) and oleic acid (17.89 ± 0.54 %) were found predominantly in unsaturated fatty acids while lignoceric acid (20.24 ± 1.12 %) was the predominant one among the saturated fatty acids. Lignoceric acid is rarely found in seed which is an essential nutrient for growth, development and maintenance of the brain. It is concluded that A. pavonina seeds appear to be a potential source of lignoceric acid and linoleic acid. This oil can be utilized in the manufacture of cosmetics, paints, varnishes, soaps, pharmaceutical products, biodiesel and blended formulations. The high protein content revealed that the seeds could be a good source of energy.  相似文献

Background

Inadequate protein intake (PI), containing a sub-optimal source of essential amino acids (EAAs), and reduced appetite are contributing factors to age-related sarcopenia. The satiating effects of dietary protein per se may negatively affect energy intake (EI), thus there is a need to explore alternative strategies to facilitate PI without compromising appetite and subsequent EI.

Methods

Older women completed two experiments (EXP1 and EXP2) where they consumed either a Bar (565 kJ), a Gel (477 kJ), both rich in EAAs (7.5 g, 40% L-leucine), or nothing (Control). In EXP1, participants (n?=?10, 68?±?5 years, mean?±?SD) consumed Bar, Gel or Control with appetite sensations and appetite-related hormonal responses monitored for one hour, followed by consumption of an ad libitum breakfast (ALB). In EXP2, participants (n?=?11, 69?±?5 years) ingested Bar, Gel or Control alongside an ALB.

Results

In EXP1, EI at ALB was not different (P?=?0.674) between conditions (1179?±?566, 1254?±?511, 1206?±?550 kJ for the Control, Bar, and Gel respectively). However, total EI was significantly higher in the Bar and Gel compared to the Control after accounting for the energy content of the supplements (P?<?0.0005). Analysis revealed significantly higher appetite Area under the Curve (AUC) (P?<?0.007), a tendency for higher acylated ghrelin AUC (P?=?0.087), and significantly lower pancreatic polypeptide AUC (P?=?0.02) in the Control compared with the Bar and Gel. In EXP2, EI at ALB was significantly higher (P?=?0.028) in the Control (1282?±?513 kJ) compared to the Bar (1026?±?565 kJ) and Gel (1064?±?495 kJ). However, total EI was significantly higher in the Bar and Gel after accounting for the energy content of the supplements (P?<?0.007).

Conclusions

Supplementation with either the Bar or Gel increased total energy intake whether consumed one hour before or during breakfast. This may represent an effective nutritional means for addressing protein and total energy deficiencies in older women.

Lipase activity from castor bean seed powders was evaluated in hydrolysis reactions at 37 °C. The effects of different concentrations of lipase powder (LP), substrate (high oleic sunflower oil, O) and surfactant (gum arabic, A) on lipase activity (R) were assessed using experimental designs. Considered variable bounds were: 0.05–0.15 gLP, 0.07–0.20 oil:aqueous phase (w/w) and 0–0.025 g gum arabic/mL. All variables had significant effects on the transformed response, R 1/2. The most important result was the negative effect of gum arabic in lipase activity, even when high oil concentrations were used. Experimental lipase activities involved in this work were within 0.32–16.90 mmolFFA/goil·gLP·h. Using 0.05 gLP and 0.20 oil:aqueous phase (w/w) without gum arabic, the activity of 20.47 ± 7.19 mmolFFA/goil·gLP·h was reached.  相似文献

Mesoporous nickel oxide (NiO) nanoparticles were synthesized by the thermal decomposition reaction of Ni(NO3)2·9H2O using oxalic acid dihydrate as the mesoporous template reagent. The pore structure of nanocrystals could be controlled by the precursor to oxalic acid dihydrate molar ratio, thermal decomposition temperature and thermal decomposition time. The structural characteristic and textural properties of resultant nickel oxide nanocrytals were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), N2 adsorption–desorption isotherm and temperature programmed reduction. The results showed that the most excellently mesoporous nickel oxide particles (m-Ni-1-4) with developed wormlike pores were prepared under the conditions of the mixed equimolar precursor and oxalic acid and calcined for 4 h at 400 °C. The specific surface area and pore volume of m-Ni-1-4 are 236 m2 g?1 and 0.42 cm3 g?1, respectively. Over m-Ni-1-4 at space velocity = 20,000 mL g?1 h?1, the conversions of toluene and formaldehyde achieved 90 % at 242 and 160 °C, respectively. It is concluded that the reactant thermal decomposition with oxalic acid assist is a key step to improve the mesoporous quality of the nickel oxide materials, the developed mesoporous architecture, high surface area, low temperature reducibility and coexistence of multiple oxidation state nickel species for the excellent catalytic performance of m-Ni-1-4.  相似文献
