A new type of lithium salts, —SO2NLiSO2OCH2(CF2)nCH2Om— (LiPPFASI, where n = 2, 3, 4, 6, and 7), was used as salts in poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO)‐based solvent‐free electrolytes. The conductivity and electrochemical stability behaviors were studied. The results showed the electrolytes almost have a similar conductivity and the PEO–LiPPFASI (n = 3, EO/Li = 10) was the relatively better system under the experiment conditions. Moreover, most systems were found to be oxidatively stable up to 5.5 V versus Li/Li+ and the lithium deposition‐stripping process on the electrode was reversible for all the polymer electrolytes. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. A new poly(propylene carbonate)/poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO/PPC) polymer electrolytes (PEs) have been developed by solution‐casting technique using biodegradable PPC and PEO. The morphology, structure, and thermal properties of the PEO/PPC polymer electrolytes were investigated by scanning electron microscopy, X‐ray diffraction, and differential scanning calorimetry methods. The ionic conductivity and the electrochemical stability window of the PEO/PPC polymer electrolytes were also measured. The results showed that the Tg and the crystallinity of PEO decrease, and consequently, the ionic conductivity increases because of the addition of amorphous PPC. The PEO/50%PPC/10%LiClO4 polymer electrolyte possesses good properties such as 6.83 × 10?5 S cm?1 of ionic conductivity at room temperature and 4.5 V of the electrochemical stability window. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The potential of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) and 49% poly(methyl methacrylate) grafted natural rubber (MG49) as a polymer host in solid polymer electrolytes (SPE) was explored for electrochemical applications. PEO–MG49 SPEs with various weight percentages of lithium perchlorate salt (LiClO4) was prepared with the solution casting technique. Characterization by scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and impedance spectroscopy was done to investigate the effect of LiClO4 on the morphological properties, chemical interaction, and ionic conductivity behavior of PEO–MG49. Scanning electron microscopy analysis showed that the surface morphology of the sample underwent a change from rough to smooth with the addition of lithium salts. Infrared analysis showed that the interaction occurred in the polymer host between the oxygen atom from the ether group (C? O? C) and the Li+ cation from doping salts. The ionic conductivity value increased with the addition of salts because of the increase in charge carrier up to the optimum value. The highest ionic conductivity obtained was 8.0 × 10?6 S/cm at 15 wt % LiClO4. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci, 2012  相似文献

A series of star block polymers with a hyperbranched core and 26 arms are successfully synthesized by atom transfer radical polymerization of styrene (St), and poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate from a hyperbranched polystyrene (HBPS) multifunctional initiator. All‐solid polymer electrolytes composed of these multiarm star polymers and lithium salts are prepared. The influences of polyoxyethylene (PEO) side‐chain length, PEO content, lithium salt concentration and type, and the structure of polymer on ionic conductivity are systematically investigated. The resulting polymer electrolyte with the longest PEO side chains exhibits the best ionic conductive properties. The maximum conductivity is 0.8 × 10?4 S cm?1 at 25°C with EO/Li = 30. All the prepared multiarm star block polymers possess good thermal stability. The mechanical property is greatly improved owing to the existence of polystyrene blocks in the multiarm star polymer molecules, and flexible films can be obtained by solution‐casting technique. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Solid-state polymer electrolytes (SPEs) have attracted significant attention owing to their improvement in high energy density and high safety performance. However, the low lithium-ion conductivity of SPEs at room temperature restricts their further application in lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). Herein, we propose a novel poly (ethylene oxide) (PEO)-based nanocomposite polymer electrolytes by blending boron-containing nanoparticles (BNs) in the PEO matrix (abbreviated as: PEO/BNs NPEs). The boron atom of BNs is sp2-hybridized and contains an empty p-orbital that can interact with the anion of lithium salt, promoting the dissociation of the lithium salts. In addition, the introduction of the BNs could reduce the crystallinity of PEO. And thus, the ionic conductivity of PEO/BNs NPEs could reach as high as 1.19 × 10−3 S cm−1 at 60°C. Compared to the pure PEO solid polymer electrolyte (PEO SPEs), the PEO/BNs NPEs showed a wider electrochemical window (5.5 V) and larger lithium-ion migration number (0.43). In addition, the cells assembled with PEO/BNs NPEs exhibited good cycle performance with an initial discharge capacity of 142.5 mA h g−1 and capacity retention of 87.7% after 200 cycles at 2 C (60°C).  相似文献

Graphene oxide (GO) has been prepared by modified Hummer's method for their incorporation as nanofiller in designing nanocomposite polymer electrolytes (NCPEs). Prior to use the GO nanofillers has been characterized by TEM, FTIR, and Raman studies to elucidate their nanostructure, functionality, and purity. The various poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO)‐based NCPEs has been prepared by incorporating GO nanofillers in presence of three different lithium salts, viz., CF3SO3Li, LiTFSI, and LiNO3 as the source of Li‐ions and then casted into free standing polymeric films. The change in PEO crystallinity has been studied considering their full width half maximum values of respective diffraction peaks in the XRD spectra. The Li‐ion conductivity of various NCPEs has been studied from impedance spectroscopy. All the NCPE films show optimum value of Li‐ion conductivity with 0.3% GO nanofiller content irrespective of the source of Li‐ions used. But, variation of the Li‐ion conductivity values is occurred for all the three studied lithium salts. Both LiTFSI and LiNO3 salts display Li‐ion conductivity in the order of 10?4 S cm?1 whereas CF3SO3Li in the order of 10?6 S cm?1, all in presence of 0.3% GO nanofillers. The change in conductivity values of the NCPEs has been explained by correlating with Argand plots and also with change in PEO crystallinity, which occurs due to various relaxation processes. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Two polar polymers with different dielectric constants, poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) and poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO), were each blended with a chlorine-terminated poly(ethylene ether) (PEC) and one of the two salts, LiBF4 and LiCF3CO2, to form PEC plasticized polymer electrolytes. The room-temperature ionic conductivity of the PEC plasticized polymer electrolytes reached a value as high as 10?4 S/cm. The room-temperature ionic conductivity of the PVDF-based polymer electrolytes displayed a stronger dependence on the PEC content than did the PEO-based polymer electrolytes. In PVDF/PEC/LiBF4 polymer electrolytes, the dynamic ionic conductivity was less dependent on temperature and more dependent on the PEC content than it was in PEO/PEC/LiBF4 polymer electrolytes. The highly plasticized PVDF-based polymer electrolyte film with a PEC content greater than CF4 (CF4 defined as the molar ratio of the repeat units of PEC to those of PVDF equal to 4) was self-supported and nonsticky, while the corresponding PEO-based polymer electrolyte film was sticky. In these highly plasticized PVDF-based polymer electrolytes, the curves of the room-temperature ionic conductivity vs. the salt concentration were convex because the number of carrier ions and the chain rigidity both increased with increase of the salt content. The maximum ionic conductivity at 30°C was independent of the PEC content, but it depended on the anion species of the lithium salts in these highly plasticized polymer electrolytes. © 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

All solid-state lithium batteries (ASS-LBs) with polymer-based solid electrolytes are a prospective contender for the next-generation batteries because of their high energy density, flexibility, and safety. Among all-polymer electrolytes, PEO-based solid polymer electrolytes received huge consideration as they can dissolve various Li salts. However, the development of an ideal PEO-based solid polymer electrolyte is hindered by its insufficient tensile strength and lower ionic conductivity due to its semi-crystalline and soft chain structure. In order to lower the crystallization and improve the performance of PEO-based solid polymer electrolyte, tungsten trioxide (WO3) nanofillers were introduced into PEO matrix. Herein, a PEO20/LiTFSI/x-WO3 (PELI-xW) (x = 0%, 2.5%, 5%, 10%) solid composite polymer electrolyte was prepared by the tape casting method. The solid composite polymer electrolyte containing 5 wt% WO3 nanofillers achieved the highest ionic conductivity of 7.4 × 10-4 S cm-1 at 60 °C. It also confirms a higher Li-ion transference number of 0.42, good electrochemical stability of 4.3V, and higher tensile strength than a PEO/LiTFSI (PELI-0W) fillers-free electrolyte. Meanwhile, the LiFePO4│PELI-xW│Li ASS-LBs demonstrated high performance and cyclability. Based on these findings, it can be considered a feasible strategy for the construction of efficient and flexible PEO-based solid polymer electrolytes for next-generation solid-state batteries.  相似文献

A method to produce nanocomposite polymer electrolytes consisting of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) as the polymer matrix, lithium tetrafluoroborate (LiBF4) as the lithium salt, and TiO2 as the inert ceramic filler is described. The ceramic filler, TiO2, was synthesized in situ by a sol–gel process. The morphology and crystallinity of the nanocomposite polymer electrolytes were examined by scanning electron microscopy and differential scanning calorimetry, respectively. The electrochemical properties of interest to battery applications, such as ionic conductivity, Li+ transference number, and stability window were investigated. The room‐temperature ionic conductivity of these polymer electrolytes was an order of magnitude higher than that of the TiO2 free sample. A high Li+ transference number of 0.51 was recorded, and the nanocomposite electrolyte was found to be electrochemically stable up to 4.5 V versus Li+/Li. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Nanocomposite polymer electrolytes (NCPE) were prepared using nano polyethylene oxide PEO doped with Magnesium (Mg) salts. Gamma irradiation was utilized to improve the PEO‐Mg salts particle sizes. Consequently, Magnesium Oxide (MgO) nanoparticles were prepared by green synthesis and incorporated into PEO‐Mg salts to improve their properties toward magnesium battery electrolyte applications. The prepared samples were examined before and after exposures to the radiation doses. Dynamic light scattering (DLS) indicated the particles size of the synthesized nano polymer‐Mg salts and MgO nanoparticles. Fourier transform infra‐red (FTIR) spectroscopic measurements, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), electrical conductivity, electrochemical properties, and thermal stability of the samples were determined. FTIR indicated the interaction between PEO with Mg salts and MgO nanoparticles which confirmed the structure. The TEM results showed a spherical nanoparticles of MgO and a good dispersion of MgO in PEO matrix. It was found that the irradiation dose 70 kGy gave the best results for the nano polymer‐Mg salts (13 nm). The electrical conductivity (σ) evaluated for NCPE, was more than three orders of magnitude of pure PEO. The liquid NCPE of 20 mL MgO NPs at 100 kGy exhibited a maximum conductivity of 3.63 × 10–3 Scm?1 at room temperature. The increase in temperature caused a slight effect on conductivity, 4.85 × 10–3 Scm?1 at temperature 250°C, at the same concentration. While un‐irradiated sample of 30 mL MgO NPs (σ) reached to 3.8 × 10?3 Scm?1 then became 5.03 × 10?3 Scm?1 by increasing temperature. From the cyclic voltammetry results, the polymer electrolytes containing MgO filler, 20 and 30 mL, for irradiated and un‐irradiated samples, respectively exhibited wider electrochemical stability window than the others due to the appearance of Mg deposition/desolution peak in CV curve showed that magnesium effectively migrating through electrolytes. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) was enhanced by adding Mg salts electrolyte and also MgO nanoparticles to PEO. J. VINYL ADDIT. The interaction behavior of solid‐state polymer electrolytes composed of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO)/novolac‐type phenolic resin and lithium perchlorate (LiClO4) was investigated in detail by DSC, FTIR, ac impedance, DEA, solid‐state NMR, and TGA. The hydrogen bonding between the hydroxyl group of phenolic and ether oxygen of the PEO results in higher basicity of the PEO. The higher basicity of the ether group can dissolve the lithium salts more easily and results in a greater fraction of “free” anions and thus higher ionic conductivity. DEA results demonstrated that addition of the phenolic increases the dielectric constant because of the partially negative charge on the ether group induced by the hydrogen bonding interaction between ether oxygen and the hydroxyl group. The study showed that the blend of PEO(100)/LiClO4(25)/phenolic(15) possesses the highest ionic conductivity (1.5 × 10?5 S cm?1) with dimensional stability. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Novel single‐ion conducting polymer electrolytes based on electrospun poly(lithium 2‐acrylamido‐2‐methylpropanesulfonic acid) (PAMPSLi) membranes were prepared for lithium‐ion batteries. The preparation started with the synthesis of polymeric lithium salt PAMPSLi by free‐radical polymerization of 2‐acrylamido‐2‐methylpropanesulfonic acid, followed by ion‐exchange of H+ with Li+. Then, the electrospun PAMPSLi membranes were prepared by electrospinning technology, and the resultant PAMPSLi fiber‐based polymer electrolytes were fabricated by immersing the electrospun membranes into a plasticizer composed of ethylene carbonate and dimethyl carbonate. PAMPSLi exhibited high thermal stability and its decomposition did not occur until 304°C. The specific surface area of the electrospun PAMPSLi membranes was raised from 9.9 m2/g to 19.5 m2/g by varying the solvent composition of polymer solutions. The ionic conductivity of the resultant PAMPSLi fiber‐based polymer electrolytes at 20°C increased from 0.815 × 10?5 S/cm to 2.12 × 10?5 S/cm with the increase of the specific surface area. The polymer electrolytes exhibited good dimensional stability and electrochemical stability up to 4.4 V vs. Li+/Li. These results show that the PAMPSLi fiber‐based polymer electrolytes are promising materials for lithium‐ion batteries. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci, 2012  相似文献

2-(2-methyloxyethoxy)ethanol modified poly (cyclotriphosphazene-co-4,4′-sufonyldiphenol) (PZS) nanotubes were synthesized and solid composite polymer electrolytes based on the surface modified polyphosphazene nanotubes added to PEO/LiClO4 model system were prepared. Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) were used to investigate the characteristics of the composite polymer electrolytes (CPE). The ionic conductivity, lithium ion transference number and electrochemical stability window can be enhanced after the addition of surface modified PZS nanotubes. The electrochemical investigation shows that the solid composite polymer electrolytes incorporated with PZS nanotubes have higher ionic conductivity and lithium ion transference number than the filler SiO2. Maximum ionic conductivity values of 4.95 × 10−5 S cm−1 at ambient temperature and 1.64 × 10−3 S cm−1 at 80 °C with 10 wt % content of surface modified PZS nanotubes were obtained and the lithium ion transference number was 0.41. The good chemical properties of the solid state composite polymer electrolytes suggested that the inorganic-organic hybrid polyphosphazene nanotubes had a promising use as fillers in solid composite polymer electrolytes and the PEO10-LiClO4-PZS nanotubes solid composite polymer electrolyte can be used as a candidate material for lithium polymer batteries.  相似文献

Poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) filled polypropylene separators (GFPSs) are designed by means of thermal cross-linking of entrapped poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether acrylate (PEGMEA) and poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylate (PEGDA) as gel constituents. The intrinsic properties of GFPS and their corresponding gel polymer electrolytes (GPE) are characterized by DSC, SEM, contact angle and electrochemical methods. It is found the stability of liquid electrolyte uptake in GPE could be improved obviously. For the GPE prepared from GFPS with filled polyether content of 14.3 wt%, the ionic conductivity could reach 1.12 × 10−3 S cm−1 while the electrochemically stable window reach 5.0 V (vs. Li/Li+). These primary results show great promise of this simple method to prepare GPE for practical application in lithium ion batteries.  相似文献

In the present study, poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO)-based polymeric composite electrolytes (PCEs) had been prepared by using a different content of mesoporous silicate MCM-41, in order to examine the filler addition effect on the microstructural and electrochemical properties. The interactions between MCM-41 and PEO matrix were studied by XRD, DSC, and SEM techniques. The electrochemical properties of the PCEs, such as ionic conductivity, its temperature dependence, and lithium transference number were investigated. MCM-41 could maintain the pore structure effectively, resulting in nanocomposites that were homogeneously complexed with the PEO chains. The PCEs with 8 wt.% MCM-41 showed the smallest crystallinity, 30.4%. Accordingly, those PCEs showed the highest ion conductivity, 1.2 × 10−4 S/cm, a two-order-of-magnitude higher value than that of the pristine PEO-LiClO4. This might have reflected decreased crystallinity and improved ion transport. Furthermore, those PCEs showed an increased Li ion transference number of ∼0.5. In conclusion, the filler addition could enhance the ionic conductivity and increase the Li ion transference number at the same time.  相似文献

Comb-shaped graft polymers were synthesized and complexed with a LiCF3SO3 salt to form a new class of polymer electrolytes. The polymers based on an acrylonitrile-butadiene copolymer (NBR) have pendant, short-chain poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) grafted onto a butadiene unit. The characteristics of these polymer electrolytes were investigated in terms of number of pendant EO groups and grafting degree in the graft copolymer. The maximum conductivity was observed at the optimum side PEO chain length, and the PEO chain length for the maximum conductivity decreased with an increase in the grafting degree. And a solid 7Li NMR relaxation technique was used to study the local environments and dynamics of the ions in the polymer electrolytes. The maximum conductivity value obtained from our study was three orders of magnitude higher than that of classical PEO-based electrolytes at ambient temperature. These improved low temperature conducting polymers with higher relative mechanical strength are expected to be suitable for practical applications, such as in rechargeable lithium batteries or electrochromic devices.  相似文献

Novel solid-state composite polymer electrolytes based on poly (ethylene oxide) (PEO) by using LiClO4 as doping salts and inorganic–organic hybrid poly (cyclotriphosphazene-co-4,4′-sulfonyldiphenol) (PZS) microspheres as fillers were prepared. Electrochemical and thermal properties of PEO-based polymer electrolytes incorporated with PZS microspheres were studied. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) results showed there was a decrease in the glass transition temperature of the electrolytes and the crystallinity of the samples in the presence of the fillers. Maximum ionic conductivity values of 1.2 × 10−5 S cm−1 at ambient temperature and 7.5 × 10−4 S cm−1 at 80° were obtained and lithium ion transference number was 0.29. Compared with traditional ceramic fillers such as SiO2, the addition of PZS microspheres increased the ionic conductivity of the electrolytes slightly and led to remarkable enhancement in the lithium ion transference number.  相似文献

Polyvinyl formal based polymer electrolyte membranes are prepared via the optimized phase inversion method with poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) blending. The physical properties of blend membranes and the electrochemical properties of corresponding gel polymer electrolytes (GPEs) are characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy, X‐ray diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry, mechanical strength test, electrolyte uptake test, AC impedance spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, and galvanostatic charge–discharge test. The comparative study shows that the appearance of PEO obviously enhances the tensile strength of membranes and the ionic conductivity of corresponding GPEs. When the weight ratio of PEO is 30%, the tensile strength of membrane achieves 12.81 MPa, and its GPE shows high ionic conductivity of 2.20 × 10−3 S cm−1, wide electrochemical stable window of 1.9–5.7 V (vs. Li/Li+), and good compatibility with LiFePO4 electrode. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Achievement of high conductivity and electrochemical window at ambient temperature for an all‐solid polymer electrolyte used in lithium ion batteries is a challenge. Here, we report the synthesis and characterization of a novel solid‐state single‐ion electrolytes based on comb‐like siloxane copolymer with pendant lithium 4‐styrenesulfonyl (perfluorobutylsulfonyl) imide and poly(ethylene glycol). The highly delocalized anionic charges of ? SO2? N(–)? C4F9 have a weak association with lithium ions, resulting in the increase of mobile lithium ions number. The designed polymer electrolytes possess ultra‐low glass transition temperature in the range from ?73 to ?54 °C due to the special flexible polysiloxane. Promising electrochemical properties have been obtained, including a remarkably high conductivity of 3.7 × 10?5 S/cm and electrochemical window of 5.2 V (vs. Li+/Li) at room temperature. A high lithium ion transference number of 0.80, and good compatibility with anode were also observed. These prominent characteristics endow the polymer electrolyte a potential for the application in high safety lithium ion batteries. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. Nanostructured block copolymer electrolytes (BCEs) based on poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) are considered as promising candidates for solid‐state electrolytes in high energy density lithium metal batteries (LMBs). Because of their self‐assembly properties, they confer on electrolytes both high mechanical strength and sufficient ionic conductivity, which linear PEO cannot provide. Two types of PEO‐based BCEs are commonly known. There are the traditional ones, also called dual‐ion conducting BCEs, which are a mixture of block copolymer chains and lithium salts. In these systems, the cations and anions participate in the conduction, inducing a concentration polarization in the electrolyte, thus leading to poor performances of LMBs. The second family of BCEs are single‐lithium‐ion conducting BCEs (SIC‐BCEs), which consist of anions being covalently grafted to the polymer backbone, therefore involving conduction by lithium ions only. SIC‐BCEs have marked advantages over dual‐ion conducting BCEs due to a high lithium ion transference number, absence of anion concentration gradients as well as low rate of lithium dendrite growth. This review focuses on the recent developments in BCEs for applications in LMBs with particular emphasis on the physicochemical and electrochemical properties of these materials. © 2018 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献
