A novel photodegradable TiO2‐Fe(St)3‐polystyrene (TiO2‐Fe(St)3‐PS) nanocomposite was prepared by embedding TiO2 and Fe(St)3 into the commercial polystyrene. Ferric stearate was added into polymer as cocatalyst in order to improve the dispersion in polystyrene and photocatalytic efficiency of TiO2 nanoparticles. Solid‐phase photocatalytic degradation of the TiO2‐Fe(St)3‐PS nanocomposite was carried out in an ambient air at room temperature under ultraviolet lamp. The properties of TiO2‐Fe(St)3‐PS composite film were compared with that of the pure PS film and the TiO2‐PS composite film, through weight loss monitoring, scanning electron microscope, gel permeation chromatogram, and FTIR spectroscopy. The photodegradation efficiency of TiO2‐Fe(St)3‐PS composite film was higher than that of the pure PS film and the TiO2‐PS composite film under the UV light irradiation. The average molecular weight (Mw) of TiO2‐Fe(St)3‐PS composite film decreased 63.08%, and the number of average molecular weight (Mn) decreased 79.49% after UV light irradiation for 480 h. Photo‐oxidation leads to an increase in the low molecular weight fraction by chain scission, thereby facilitating biodegradation. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. Sci., 2013  相似文献

Mesoporous titanium dioxide (M‐TiO2) nanoparticles were successfully prepared followed by chemical modification with different contents of polyaniline (PANI/M‐TiO2) and were used to accelerate the photo‐oxidation and biodegradation process of low‐density polyethylene (LDPE) film. The influence of these additives as a pro‐oxidant additive on the accelerated degradation of LDPE was investigated by photocatalytic oxidation under UV light irradiation and biodegradation with fungal strains. It was found that the as‐prepared PANI modified M‐TiO2 particles exhibited an obvious light response from 400 to 800 nm which can improve the utilization of solar light. Compared with M‐TiO2, PANI/M‐TiO2 exhibited better photocatalytic performance when irradiated under UV light and the subsequent biodegradation efficiency was enhanced. Enhancement of the photocatalytic performance of PANI/M‐TiO2 could be attributed to good dispersibility and compatibility of PANI/M‐TiO2 in the LDPE matrix, a narrow band gap, effective separation of photogenerated electron–hole pairs and the chromophoric group of PANI which was used as a photosensitizer in the LDPE/PANI/M‐TiO2 composite film. © 2019 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

A photocatalyst, TiO2?xNy/AC (activated carbon (AC) supported N‐doped TiO2), highly active in both the Vis and UV range, was prepared by calcination of the TiO2 precursor prepared by acid‐catalyzed hydrolysis in an ammonia atmosphere. The powders were characterized by diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X‐ray diffraction, N2 adsorption, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and phenol degradation. The doped N in the TiO2 crystal lattice creates an electron‐occupied intra‐band gap allowing electron‐hole pair generation under Vis irradiation (500–560 nm). The TiO2?xNy/AC exhibited high levels of activity and the same activity trends for phenol degradation under both Vis and UV irradiation: TiO2?xNy/AC calcined at 500 °C for 4 h exhibited the highest activity. The band‐gap level newly formed by doped N can act as a center for the photo‐generated holes and is beneficial for the UV activity enhancement. The performance of the prepared TiO2?xNy/AC photocatalyst revealed its practical potential in the field of solar photocatalytic degradation of aqueous contaminants. TiO2/graphene‐MWCNT nanocomposite was prepared using solvothermal reaction for the effective distribution of TiO2 nanoparticles on carbonaceous materials. TiO2/graphene‐MWCNT nanocomposite was immobilized in poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) matrix for a convenient recovery after wastewater purification. MWCNT was incorporated in a nanocomposite not only to prevent the restacking of graphene but also to increase the electron transfer from TiO2. The detailed characterization of the nanocomposite was performed using SEM, EDX, XRD, XPS, and FTIR. The photocatalytic performance of PVA/TiO2/graphene‐MWCNT nanocomposite was investigated by UV spectroscopy on the basis of degradation of organic pollutants. PVA/TiO2/graphene‐MWCNT nanocomposite showed improved photocatalytic decomposition of more than 70% of residual dye left in case of using PVA/TiO2/graphene nanocomposite due to the improved electron transfer and the higher adsorption of organic pollutants. PVA/TiO2/graphene‐MWCNT nanocomposite was suitable as a promising material for the recyclable photocatalytic wastewater purification system. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. BACKGROUND: Semiconductor TiO2 has been investigated extensively due to its chemical stability, nontoxicity and inexpensiveness. However, the wide band gap of anatase TiO2 (about 3.2 eV) only allows it to absorb UV light. TiO2 nanoparticles modified by conditional conjugated polymers show excellent photocatalytic activity under visible light. However, these conjugated polymers are not only expensive, but also difficult to process. Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) was heat‐treated at high temperature to remove HCl and a C?C conjugated chain structure was obtained. When TiO2 nanoparticles were dispersed into the conjugated polymer film derived from PVC, this composites film exhibited high visible light photocatalytic activity. RESULTS: The photocatalytic activity of TiO2/heat‐treated PVC (HTPVC) film was investigated by degrading Rhodamine B (RhB) under visible light irradiation. The photodegradation of RhB follows apparent first‐order kinetics. The rate constants of RhB photodegradation in the presence of the TiO2/HTPVC films with different mass content of TiO2 are 16–56 and 4–14 times that obtained in the presence of the pure HTPVC and TiO2/polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) composite film, respectively. The TiO2/HTPVC film showed excellent photocatalytic activity and stability after 10 cycles under visible light irradiation. CONCLUSION: TiO2/HTPVC film exhibits high visible light photocatalytic activity and stability. Copyright © 2012 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Mercury electrodeless discharge lamps (Hg‐EDLs) were used to generate UV radiation when exposed to a microwave field. EDLs were coated with doped TiO2 in the form of thin films containing transition metal ions Mn+ (M = Fe, Co, Ni, V, Cr, Mn, Zr, Ag). Photocatalytic degradation of mono‐chloroacetic acid (MCAA) to HCl, CO2, and H2O, and decomposition of Rhodamine B on the thin films were investigated in detail. RESULTS: Polycrystalline thin doped TiO2 films were prepared by dip‐coating of EDL via a sol–gel method using titanium n‐butoxide, acetylacetone, and a transition metal acetylacetonate. The films were characterized by Raman spectroscopy, UV/Vis absorption spectroscopy, X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), electron microprobe analysis and by atomic force microscopy (AFM). The photocatalytic activity of doped TiO2 films was monitored in the decomposition of Rhodamine B in water. Compared with the pure TiO2 film, the UV/Vis spectra of V, Zr and Ag‐doped TiO2 showed significant absorption in the visible region, and hence the photocatalytic degradation of MCAA had increased. The best apparent degradation rate constant (0.0125 min?1), which was higher than that on the pure TiO2 film by a factor of 1.7, was obtained with the Ag(3%)/TiO2 photocatalyst. The effect of doping level of vanadium acetylacetonate on the photocatalytic efficiency of the V‐doped TiO2 was determined. CONCLUSIONS: Transition metal ion‐doped TiO2 thin films showed significant absorption in the visible region. The metal doped TiO2 photocatalyst (with an appropriate amount of V, Zr and Ag) on the Hg‐EDLs increased the degradation efficiency of MCAA in a microwave field. Silver and zirconium co‐doped and mono‐doped titania nanocomposites were synthesized and deposited onto polyacrylonitrile fibers via sol–gel dip‐coating method. The resulted coated‐fibers were characterized by X‐ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and BET surface area measurement. Photocatalytic activity of the TiO2‐coated and TiO2‐doped coated fibers were determined by photomineralization of methylene blue and Eosin Y under UV–vis light. The progress of photodegradation of dyes was monitored by diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The XRD results of samples indicate that the TiO2, Ag‐TiO2, Zr‐TiO2, and Ag‐Zr‐TiO2 consist of anatase phase. All samples demonstrated photo‐assisted self‐cleaning properties when exposed to UV–vis irradiation. Evaluated by decomposing dyes, photocatalytic activity of Ag–Zr co‐doped TiO2 coated fiber was obviously higher than that of pure TiO2 and mono‐doped TiO2. Our results showed that the synergistic action between the silver and zirconium species in the Ag‐Zr TiO2 nanocomposite is due to both the structural and electronic properties of the photoactive anatase phase. These results clearly indicate that modification of semiconductor photocatalyst by co‐doping process is an effective method for increasing the photocatalytic activity. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The photocatalytic activity of TiO2 and ZrO2‐coated polyacrylonitrile (PAN) fibers was compared through the self‐cleaning of methylene blue and eosin yellowish. TiO2 and ZrO2 nanocrystals were successfully synthesized and deposited onto PAN fibers with photocatalytic self‐cleaning activity using the sol‐gel process at low temperature. The pristine and treated samples have been characterized by several techniques, such as scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, X‐ray diffraction, and thermogravimetric analysis. The TiO2 nanoparticles with 10–20 nm in size, and ZrO2 with 20–40 nm have been synthesized to form dispersed particles on the fiber surface, which shows photocatalytic properties when exposed to UV–Vis light. The photocatalytic activity, tested by measuring the degradation of adsorbed methylene blue and Eosin Y. Photocatalytic activity of TiO2‐coated fibers toward dyes degradation was higher than that of ZrO2‐coated fibers. This preparation technique can be also applied to new fabrics to create self‐cleaning and UV irradiation protection properties in them. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci, 2010  相似文献

A novel photodegradable and biodegradable polyethylene (PE) film was prepared through a melt blending technique, where nano‐TiO2 and common kaolin were used as the photocatalyst and biodegradable promoter showing improved degradable efficiency of the waste PE. The photo‐degradation of the composite film was investigated by weight loss monitoring, attenuated total reflection–fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (ATR–FTIR), and scanning electron microscopy. The aerobic biodegradation of the residue films after photodegradation was investigated by analysis of evolved carbon dioxide of films in aquatic test systems according to the international standards (ISO 14852, 1999). The results showed that the weight loss of as‐prepared photo‐ and biodegradable composite film reached 26.8% after 240 h of UV light irradiation. The big cavities formed not only on the film surface but also inside the bulk film, together with the chalking phenomenon taking place. The biodegradation results revealed that the addition of kaolin enhanced the degradation of UV‐light treated TiO2‐PE films. The prepared PE based composite films showed promising application as novel photo‐biodegradable environment‐harmless materials. In addition, a degradation mechanism for this composite film was also discussed. POLYM. COMPOS., 37:2353–2359, 2016. © 2015 Society of Plastics Engineers  相似文献

Niobium‐doped Titanium dioxide (Nb:TiO2) transparent films were successfully deposited on glass substrates using a non‐aqueous sol‐gel spin coating technique. The effect of Nb concentration on the structural and photocatalytic properties of Nb:TiO2 films was studied using X‐ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and UV visible spectroscopy. The films with 12 at.% (atomic percent) Nb doped TiO2 showed excellent photocatalytic activity through 97.3% degradation of methylene blue (MB) after 2 h of UV irradiation.  相似文献

Micrometer‐sized structures consisting of TiO2 nanoparticles were prepared using the sol–gel technique in combination with the structure‐directing agent triethanolamine (TEA). The interaction of the TEA with the hydrolyzed sol–gel products led to the formation of TEA titanate complexes, which then enabled the assembly of sol–gel‐precipitated nanosized powders. A subsequent thermal treatment of these powders resulted in the formation of micrometer‐sized structures consisting of TiO2 anatase and rutile nanoparticles. To characterize the prepared powders, FTIR spectroscopy, XRD analysis, the Brunauer‐Emmett‐Teller method (sBET), UV–Vis spectrometry and electron microscopy (FE‐SEM, and TEM) were employed. The photocatalytic degradation of the azo dye known as methylene blue was monitored under UV and Vis irradiation and showed that the micrometer‐sized structures consisting of TiO2 nanoparticles exhibited a similar photocatalytic activity to submicrometer‐sized structures consisting of TiO2 nanoparticles prepared without TEA.  相似文献

Porous ultrahigh‐molecular‐weight polyethylene (UHMWPE)‐based composites filled with surface‐modified Ce‐doped TiO2 nanoparticles (Ce–TiO2/UHMWPE) were prepared by template dissolution. The composites were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, ultraviolet (UV)–visible spectroscopy, diffuse reflectance spectra, and scanning electron microscopy); the photocatalytic activity was also evaluated by the decomposition of methyl orange under UV exposure. The results demonstrate that the severe aggregation of Ce–TiO2 nanoparticles could be reduced by surface modification via a silane coupling agent (KH570). The Ce–TiO2/UHMWPE porous composites exhibited a uniform pore size. Doping with Ce4+ effectively extended the spectral response from the UV to the visible region and enhanced the surface hydroxyl groups of the TiO2 attached to the matrix. With a degradation rate of 85.3%, the 1.5 vol % Ce–TiO2/UHMWPE sample showed the best photocatalytic activity. The excellent permeability of the porous composites is encouraging for their possible use in wastewater treatment. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. Sci., 2013  相似文献

In this study, bismuth oxyiodide/titanium dioxide (BiOI/TiO2) heterostructures with different molar ratios of Bi and Ti were synthesized by electrospinning and hydrothermal methods. The samples thus synthesized were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high-resolution TEM, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and ultraviolet–visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The results confirmed the presence of the BiOI/TiO2 heterojunction with Bi/Ti molar ratios of 0.20–1 by electrospinning and hydrothermal methods. Photocatalytic activity was also evaluated by the degradation of methylene blue (MB) under visible-light irradiation. The 80% BiOI/TiO2 heterostructure exhibited the best photocatalytic activity for the degradation of MB under visible-light irradiation.  相似文献

BiOI flowerlike hierarchical structure was synthesized via direct hydrolysis from BiI3 and characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) spectra, and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). As-synthesized BiOI showed higher photocatalytic activity in aqueous RhB photodegradation system than P25 TiO2 under simulated sunlight irradiation. The trapping experiments of active species and electron spin resonance (ESR) experiment during the photocatalytic reaction showed that the photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants in BiOI system proceeds through direct hole transfer and O2 rather than OH.  相似文献

Electrospun polyamide‐6 membranes containing titanium dioxide (TiO2) photocatalyst were prepared and characterized. By tailoring the electrospinning parameters it was possible to obtain membranes having two different thicknesses, namely 5 and 20 µm, in which TiO2 particles were homogeneously dispersed. As a comparison, hybrid films made with polyamide‐6 matrix and TiO2 filler were successfully produced, with inorganic/organic ratios of 10 and 20 wt%. The photocatalytic activity of both hybrid systems was evaluated by following the degradation of methylene blue as a target molecule as a function of UV irradiation time. A smoother degradation was recorded for the electrospun membranes with respect to the hybrid films probably due to a less exposed surface because of the highly porous structure. Even if a longer photodegradation time was necessary, the degradation of the dye was successfully achieved. Copyright © 2010 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

A novel visible‐light‐driven photocatalyst of Mo‐doped LiInO2 nanocomposite was successfully synthesized through a sol‐gel method. The effect of Mo‐doping concentrations on the microstructures and properties of LiInO2 was characterized by X‐ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy, photoluminescence, and ultraviolet‐visible absorption spectra. The photocatalytic properties of the as‐prepared samples were evaluated by the photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue (MB) dye under visible‐light irradiation. The results demonstrated that the photocatalytic activity of 6% Mo‐LiInO2 reached to 98.6%, which was much higher than that of the undoped photocatalyst LiInO2 (only 46.8%). The enhanced photocatalytic activity is ascribed to Mo‐doping strategy. The holes play an important role in the process of the photodegradation of MB. The superior photocatalytic activity of the as‐prepared Mo‐LiInO2 nanocomposites suggests a potential application for organic dye degradation of wastewater remediation. This work provides a further understanding on tailoring the band structure of semiconductor photocatalyst for enhancing visible‐light absorption and promoting electron‐hole separation by Mo‐doping strategy.  相似文献

The present work is focused on the preparation of hybrid ZnO/TiO2/Ag2O nanocomposite for enhanced photocatalytic activity. The resultant samples are characterized by using XRD, SEM, EDX, HR-TEM, UV-DRS, BET and XPS techniques. X-ray diffraction analysis indicates the co-existence of wurtzite, anatase and cubic phases in ZnO/TiO2/Ag2O nanocomposite. The band gap energy value of the photocatalyst is 3.39 eV, which has been evidenced from UV–visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy measurements. Photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue dye has been investigated by using UV–visible spectrophotometer. From the result, it has been concluded that ZnO/TiO2/Ag2O nanocomposite has proven to be an efficient photocatalyst under UV irradiation when compared to that of mono and binary oxide systems. Further, the possible photodegradation mechanism is proposed to support the enhancement of photocatalytic activity towards degradation of dyes.  相似文献

Polymeric materials, such as polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and ethylene–PVA copolymers (EVOH) are widely used in the food sector as packaging materials because of their excellent properties. TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) show photocatalytic activity; when added to the aforementioned polymers, on the one hand, they are expected to provide bactericidal capacity, whereas on the other hand, they could favor nanocomposite degradation. These types of nanoparticles can be derivatized with cyclodextrin macromolecules (CDs), which can act as food preservative carriers, increasing the packaging food protective properties. In this work, films containing β-Cyclodextrin (βCD)-grafted TiO2 nanoparticles and PVA or EVOH were prepared. Regarding the photocatalytic activity of the nanoparticles and the possible environmental protection, accelerated aging tests for PVA, EVOH, and their composites with cyclodextrin-grafted TiO2 nanoparticle (NP) films were performed by two methods, namely, stability chamber experiments at different conditions of temperature and relative humidity and UV light irradiation at different intensities. After analyzing the systems color changes (CIELAB) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) spectra, it was observed that the film degradation became more evident when increasing the temperature (25–80 °C) and relative humidity percentage (28–80%). There was no significant influence of the presence of CDs during the degradation process. When irradiating the films with UV light, the largest color variation was observed in the nanocomposite films, as expected. Moreover, the color change was more relevant with increasing NP percentages (1–5%) due to the high photocatalytic activity of TiO2. In addition, films were characterized by FTIR spectroscopy and variation in the signal intensities was observed, suggesting the increase of the material degradation in the presence of TiO2 NPs.  相似文献

A visible light active photocatalyst, Ag/TiO2/MWCNT was synthesized by loading of Ag nanoparticles onto TiO2/MWCNT nanocomposite. The photocatalytic activity of Ag/TiO2/MWCNT ternary nanocomposite was evaluated for the degradation of methylene blue dye under UV and visible light irradiation. Ag/TiO2/MWCNT ternary nanocomposite exhibits (~9 times) higher photocatalytic activity than TiO2/MWCNT and (~2 times) higher than Ag/TiO2 binary nanocomposites under visible light irradiation. The enhancement in the photocatalytic activity is attributed to the synergistic effect between Ag nanoparticles and MWCNT, which enhance the charge separation efficiency by Schottky barrier formation at Ag/TiO2 interface and role of MWCNT as an electron reservoir. Effect of different scavengers on the degradation of methylene blue dye in the presence of catalyst has been investigated to find the role of photogenerated electrons and holes. Simultaneously, the Ag/TiO2/MWCNT shows excellent photocatalytic stability. This work highlights the importance of Ag/TiO2/MWCNT ternary nanocomposite as highly efficient and stable visible-light-driven photocatalyst for the degradation of organic dyes.  相似文献

A novel photodegradable polystyrene-grafted-TiO2 (PS-g-TiO2) nanocomposite was prepared by embedding the grafted-TiO2 into the commercial polystyrene. Solid-phase photocatalytic degradation of the PS-g-TiO2 nanocomposite was carried out in ambient air at room temperature under ultraviolet lamp and/or sunlight irradiation. The properties of composite film were compared with those of the pure PS film by methods such as weight loss measurement, scanning electron microscope (SEM), gel permeation chromatogram (GPC), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), FT-IR spectroscopy, and UV-vis spectroscopy. The results show that the photo-induced degradation of PS-g-TiO2 composite film is significantly higher than that of pure PS film. The weight loss of composite film reached 31.9%, average molecular weight (Mw) of composite film decreased by 53.1%, and the number average molecular weight (Mn) decreased by 73.2% after 396 h of UV-light irradiation. FT-IR analysis and weight loss indicated that the benzene rings in PS-matrix of composite film were cleaved during UV-light irradiation. The photocatalytic degradation mechanism of the films is briefly discussed.  相似文献
