A method for numerical reconstruction of digitally recorded holograms with variable magnification is presented. The proposed strategy allows for smaller, equal, or larger magnification than that achieved with Fresnel transform by introducing the Bluestein substitution into the Fresnel kernel. The magnification is obtained independent of distance, wavelength, and number of pixels, which enables the method to be applied in color digital holography and metrological applications. The approach is supported by experimental and simulation results in digital holography of objects of comparable dimensions with the recording device and in the reconstruction of holograms from digital in-line holographic microscopy.  相似文献

A novel method for multi-plane imaging in digital holography is proposed: holograms of objects located at various places are recorded and then reconstructed simultaneously through one-step Fresnel diffraction using the quadratic distorted phase factor (QDPF). The theory of one-step Fresnel diffraction with the QDPF is deduced and experimental results support the theoretical investigation.  相似文献

A method for optical encryption of three-dimensional (3D) information by use of digital holography is presented. A phase-shifting interferometer records the phase and amplitude information generated by a 3D object at a plane located in the Fresnel diffraction region with an intensity-recording device. Encryption is performed optically by use of the Fresnel diffraction pattern of a random phase code. Images of the 3D object with different perspectives and focused at different planes can be generated digital or optically after decryption with the proper key. Experimental results are presented.  相似文献

A cascaded Fresnel algorithm for the flexible reconstruction of digital holograms is proposed. Since the fast-Fourier-transform-based numerical realization of the Fresnel integral shows a dependency of its pixel resolution and its computation window size on the propagation distance different from that of the corresponding physical system, the computation window can be smaller than the actual physical diffraction field in the intermediate plane. Consequently, distortions in the final reconstruction may occur. A method is proposed to eliminate such distortion. The validity of this method is shown by both numerical simulations and experimental results.  相似文献

We present an optical imaging system and mathematical algorithms for three-dimensional sensing and identification of stem cells. Data acquisition of stem cells is based on holographic microscopy in the Fresnel domain by illuminating the cells with a laser. In this technique, the holograms of stem cells are optically recorded with an image sensor array interfaced with a computer and three-dimensional images of the stem cells are reconstructed from the Gabor-filtered digital holograms. The Gabor wavelet transformation for feature extraction of the digital hologram is performed to improve the process of identification. The inverse Fresnel transformation of the Gabor-filtered digital hologram is performed to reconstruct the multi-scale three-dimensional images of the stem cells at different depths along the longitudinal direction. For recognition and classification of stem cells, a statistical approach using an empirical cumulative density function is introduced. The experiments indicate that the proposed system can be potentially useful for recognizing and classifying stem cells. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report on using three-dimensional holographic microscopy for automated identification of stem cells.  相似文献

We propose a method for compressing a digital color Fresnel hologram based on vector quantization (VQ). The complex color hologram is first separated into three complex holograms, each representing one of the primary colors. Subsequently, each hologram is converted into what we call a real Fresnel hologram and compressed with VQ based on a universal codebook. Experimental evaluation reveals that our scheme is capable of attaining a compression ratio of over 1600 times and still preserving acceptable visual quality on the reconstructed images. Moreover, the decoding process is free from computation and highly resistant to noise contamination on the compressed data.  相似文献

Features offered by the combination of time averaging and digital Fresnel holography are investigated. In particular, we introduce the concept of the zero-crossing phase of Bessel fringes, which allows a highly contrasted determination of the dark fringes in the hologram. We discuss some particularities of the digital reconstruction and show how time-averaged digital holography can be used to study vibration drifts. Experiment results are presented in the case of a loudspeaker under a sinusoidal excitation; digital and analogical holography are also compared.  相似文献

Conventional and digital holographies are proving to be increasingly important for studies of marine zooplankton and other underwater biological applications. This paper reports on the use of a subsea digital holographic camera (eHoloCam) for the analysis and identification of marine organisms and other subsea particles. Unlike recording on a photographic film, a digital hologram (e-hologram) is recorded on an electronic sensor and reconstructed numerically in a computer by simulating the propagation of the optical field in space. By comparison with other imaging techniques, an e-hologram has several advantages such as three-dimensional spatial reconstruction, non-intrusive and non-destructive interrogation of the recording sampling volume and the ability to record holographic videos. The basis of much work in optics lies in Maxwell's electromagnetic theory and holography is no exception: we report here on two of the numerical reconstruction algorithms we have used to reconstruct holograms obtained using eHoloCam and how their starting point lies in Maxwell's equations. Derivation of the angular spectrum algorithm for plane waves is provided as an exact method for the in-line numerical reconstruction of digital holograms. The Fresnel numerical reconstruction algorithm is derived from the angular spectrum method. In-line holograms are numerically processed before and after reconstruction to remove periodic noise from captured images and to increase image contrast. The ability of the Fresnel integration reconstruction algorithm to extend the reconstructed volume beyond the recording sensor dimensions is also shown with a 50% extension of the reconstruction area. Finally, we present some images obtained from recent deployments of eHoloCam in the North Sea and Faeroes Channel.  相似文献

We present a detailed analysis of image formation in digital Fresnel holography. The mathematical modeling is developed on the basis of Fourier optics, making possible the understanding of the different influences of each of the physical effects invoked in digital holography. Particularly, it is demonstrated that spatial resolution in the reconstructed plane can be written as a convolution product of functions that describe these influences. The analysis leads to a thorough investigation of the effect of the width of the sensor, the surface of pixels, the numerical focusing, and the aberrations of the reference wave, as well as to an explicit formulation of the Shannon theorem for digital holography. Experimental illustrations confirm the proposed theoretical analysis.  相似文献

We propose parallel three-step phase-shifting digital holography as a technique capable of noiseless instantaneous measurement of three-dimensional objects based on phase-shifting interferometry. The proposed digital holography carries out three-step phase shifting at the same time by using a phase-shifting array device located in the reference beam. The array device has a periodic three-step phase distribution, and its configuration is simplified compared with that required for conventional parallel phase-shifting digital holography. Therefore the optical system of the proposed parallel phase-shifting digital holography is more suitable for the realization of the proposed holography. We conduct both a numerical simulation and a preliminary experiment. The results of the simulation and experiment agree well with those of the conventional phase-shifting method and are superior to the results obtained by conventional digital holography by using the Fresnel transform alone. Thus the effectiveness of the proposed technique is verified.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a modified electronic Fresnel-based beamforming method for low-cost portable ultrasound systems. This method uses a unique combination of analog and digital beamforming methods. Two versions of Fresnel beamforming are presented in this paper: 4-phase (4 different time delays or phase shifts) and 8-phase (8 different time delays or phase shifts). The advantage of this method is that a system with 4 to 8 transmit channels and 2 receive channels with a network of switches can be used to focus an array with 64 to 128 elements. The simulation and experimental results show that Fresnel beamforming image quality is comparable to traditional delay-and-sum (DAS) beamforming in terms of spatial resolution and contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) under certain system parameters. With an f-number of 2 and 50% signal bandwidth, the experimental lateral beamwidths are 0.54, 0.67, and 0.66 mm and the axial pulse lengths are 0.50, 0.51, and 0.50 mm for DAS, 8-phase, and 4-phase Fresnel beamforming, respectively. The experimental CNRs are 4.66, 4.42, and 3.98, respectively. These experimental results are in good agreement with simulation results.  相似文献

Digital holographic optical coherence imaging is a full-frame coherence-gated imaging approach that uses a CCD camera to record and reconstruct digital holograms from living tissue. Recording digital holograms at the optical Fourier plane has advantages for diffuse targets compared with Fresnel off-axis digital holography. A digital hologram captured at the Fourier plane requires only a 2D fast Fourier transform for numerical reconstruction. We have applied this technique for the depth-resolved imaging of rat osteogenic tumor multicellular spheroids and acquired cross-section images of the anterior segment and the retinal region of a mouse eye. A penetration depth of 1.4 mm for the tumor spheroids was achieved.  相似文献

We present a digital integral imaging system. A Fresnel lenslet array pattern is written on a phase-only LCoS spatial light modulator device (SLM) to replace the regular analog lenslet array in a conventional integral imaging system. We theoretically analyze the capture part of the proposed system based on Fresnel wave propagation formulation. Because of pixelation and quantization of the lenslet array pattern, higher diffraction orders and multiple focal points emerge. Because of the multiple focal planes introduced by the discrete lenslets, multiple image planes are observed. The use of discrete lenslet arrays also causes some other artifacts on the recorded elemental images. The results reduce to those available in the literature when the effects introduced by the discrete nature of the lenslets are omitted. We performed simulations of the capture part. It is possible to obtain the elemental images with an acceptable visual quality. We also constructed an optical integral imaging system with both capture and display parts using the proposed discrete Fresnel lenslet array written on a SLM. Optical results when self-luminous objects, such as an LED array, are used indicate that the proposed system yields satisfactory results.  相似文献

We propose a parallel two-step phase-shifting digital holography technique capable of instantaneous measurement of three-dimensional objects, with a view toward measurement of dynamically moving objects. The technique is based on phase-shifting interferometry. The proposed technique carries out the two-step phase-shifting method at one time and can be optically implemented by using a phase-shifting array device located in the reference beam. The array device has a periodic two-step phase distribution, and its configuration is simplified compared with that required for three-step and four-step parallel phase-shifting digital holographies. Therefore the optical system of the proposed technique is more suitable for the realization of a parallel phase-shifting digital holography system. We conduct both a numerical simulation and a preliminary experiment in the proposed technique. The results of the simulation and the experiment agree well with those of sequential phase-shifting digital holography, and results are superior to those obtained by conventional digital holography using the Fresnel transform alone. Thus the effectiveness of the proposed technique is verified.  相似文献

We apply digital in-line holography to image opaque objects through a thick plano-concave pipe. Opaque fibers and opaque particles are considered. Analytical expression of the intensity distribution in the CCD sensor plane is derived using a generalized Fresnel transform. The proposed model has the ability to deal with various pipe shapes and thicknesses and compensates for the lack of versatility of classical digital in-line holography models. Holograms obtained with a 12 mm thick plano-concave pipe are then reconstructed using a fractional Fourier transform. This method allows us to get rid of astigmatism. Numerical and experimental results are presented.  相似文献

Complex-wave retrieval from a single off-axis hologram   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4
We present a new digital two-step reconstruction method for off-axis holograms recorded on a CCD camera. First, we retrieve the complex object wave in the acquisition plane from the hologram's samples. In a second step, if required, we propagate the wave front by using a digital Fresnel transform to achieve proper focus. This algorithm is sufficiently general to be applied to sophisticated optical setups that include a microscope objective. We characterize and evaluate the algorithm by using simulated data sets and demonstrate its applicability to real-world experimental conditions by reconstructing optically acquired holograms.  相似文献

The space-bandwidth product (SBP) is a measure for the information capacity an optical system possesses. The two information processing steps in digital holography, recording, and reconstruction are analyzed with respect to the SBP. The recording setups for a Fresnel hologram, Fourier hologram, and image-plane hologram, which represent the most commonly used setup configurations in digital holography, are investigated. For the recording process, the required SBP to ensure the recording of the entire object information is calculated. This is accomplished by analyzing the recorded interference pattern in the hologram-plane. The paraxial diffraction model is used in order to simulate the light propagation from the object to hologram-plane. The SBP in the reconstruction process is represented by the product of the reconstructed field-of-view and spatial frequency bandwidth. The outcome of this analysis results in the best SBP adapted digital holographic setup.  相似文献

We present an optoelectronic method to analyze three-dimensional (3D) scenes that is able to detect the presence, and also the position and orientation, of a reference 3D object. The data-acquisition procedure is based on digital holography. A phase-shifting interferometer records a single digital Fresnel hologram of the 3D scene with an intensity-recording device. Holographic information of the 3D reference object is also obtained with the same method. Correlation techniques are then applied to recognize the presence and position of the 3D reference object in the 3D scene. The technique also allows us to detect the 3D reference with a small out-of-plane rotation. Preliminary experimental results are presented that demonstrate the theory.  相似文献
