The inhibition effect of triazolyl blue tetrazolium bromide (TBTB) on the corrosion of cold rolled steel (CRS) in 1.0 M HCl and 0.5 M H2SO4 solution was investigated for the first time by weight loss, potentiodynamic polarization curves, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) methods. The results show that TBTB is a very good inhibitor, and is more efficiency in 1.0 M HCl than 0.5 M H2SO4. The adsorption of TBTB on CRS surface obeys Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Polarization curves reveal that TBTB acts as a mixed-type inhibitor in both acids.  相似文献

The inhibition effect of 6-benzylaminopurine (BAP) on the corrosion of cold rolled steel (CRS) in 1.0-7.0 M H2SO4 at 25-50 °C was studied by weight loss and potentiodynamic polarization methods. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and atomic force microscope (AFM) were used to characterize the CRS surface. The results showed that BAP was a good inhibitor in 1.0 M H2SO4, and the adsorption of BAP obeyed the Temkin adsorption isotherm. Polarization curves showed that BAP acted as a mixed-type inhibitor in sulfuric acid. Depending on the results, the inhibitive mechanism was proposed.  相似文献

The inhibition effect of Ginkgo leaves extract (GLE) on the corrosion of cold rolled steel (CRS) in 1.0–5.0 M HCl and 0.5–2.5 M H2SO4 solutions was investigated for the first time by weight loss, potentiodynamic polarization curves, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) methods. The results show that GLE is a good inhibitor, and exhibits more efficient in 1.0 M HCl than 0.5 M H2SO4. The adsorption of GLE on CRS surface obeys Langmuir adsorption isotherm. GLE acts as a mixed-type inhibitor in 1.0 M HCl, while a cathodic inhibitor in 0.5 M H2SO4.  相似文献

The inhibition effect of three pyrazine derivatives of 2-methylpyrazine (MP), 2-aminopyrazine (AP) and 2-amino-5-bromopyrazine (ABP) on the corrosion of cold rolled steel (CRS) in 1.0 M H2SO4 solution was studied by weight loss, potentiodynamic polarization curves and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) methods. The results show that all pyrazine compounds are good inhibitors, and inhibition efficiency follows the order: ABP > AP > MP. The adsorption of each inhibitor on CRS surface obeys Langmuir adsorption isotherm. For all these pyrazine derivatives, they act as mixed-type inhibitors. The probable inhibitive mechanism is proposed from the viewpoint of adsorption theory.  相似文献

The inhibition effect of acid violet 6B (AV6B) on the corrosion of cold rolled steel (CRS) in 1.0–5.0 M HCl solution was studied for the first time by weight loss, potentiodynamic polarization, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) methods. The results show that AV6B is a very good inhibitor in 1.0 M HCl, and the adsorption of AV6B on CRS surface obeys Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Polarization curves reveal that AV6B behaves as a mixed-type inhibitor. EIS spectra exhibit one capacitive loop and confirm the inhibitive ability. Effects of immersion time and acid concentration on inhibition performance were also discussed.  相似文献

The inhibition effect of Bis (benzimidazol-2-yl) disulphide (BIMDS) on corrosion behavior of mild steel (MS) in 1.0 M HCl and 0.5 M H2SO4 was studied using different techniques. These studies have shown that studied compound is a good inhibitor for MS in 1.0 M HCl and 0.5 M H2SO4 solutions. Inhibitor showed better performance in 0.5 M H2SO4 solutions than 1.0 M HCl. Polarization measurements indicated that BIMDS is a mixed-type inhibitor in both acid media. Adsorption of inhibitor molecules on the mild steel surface showed Langmuir isotherm model in both acid media.  相似文献

The synergistic effect of iodide ions and benzisothiozole-3-piperizine hydrochloride (BITP) on corrosion inhibition of mild steel in 0.5 M H2SO4 solution has been studied by both chemical and electrochemical methods. The corrosion performance of BITP in 1.0 M HCl and 0.5 M H2SO4 media was examined and compared. The adsorption of BITP and its combination with iodide ions on mild steel surface followed Langmuir adsorption isotherm via chemisorption mechanism. The calculated values of synergism parameter (Sθ) were found to be greater than unity. This result clearly showed the existence of synergism between iodide ions and BITP molecules.  相似文献

The inhibition effect of nitrotetrazolium blue chloride (NTBC) on the corrosion of cold rolled steel (CRS) in 0.5 M H2SO4 was investigated by weight loss, potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) methods. The results show that NTBC is a good inhibitor, and the adsorption of NTBC on CRS surface obeys Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Polarization curves show that NTBC acts as a mixed-type inhibitor. EIS spectra consist of large capacitive loop at high frequencies followed by a small inductive one at low frequency values, and charge transfer resistance increases with the inhibitor concentration.  相似文献

2,2′ benzothiazolyl disulfide (BTDS) has been synthesised and their inhibiting action on mild steel corrosion in 1 M HCl and 0.5 M H2SO4 at 308 K has been investigated using weight loss, EIS, polarization and SEM study. BTDS showed better efficiency in 0.5 M H2SO4 compared to 1 M HCl. Polarization studies revealed that BTDS is a mixed type inhibitor in both acids predominantly cathodic in 1 M HCl where as predominantly anodic in 0.5 M H2SO4. Thermodynamic parameters i.e. free energy of adsorption, enthalpy, entropy and activation energy were calculated, the values of these parameters showed good interaction.  相似文献

The inhibition action of a nonionic surfactant of tween‐80 on the corrosion of cold rolled steel (CRS) in sulfuric acid (H2SO4) has been investigated by weight loss and potentiodynamic polarization methods. Atomic force microscope (AFM) provided the CRS surface conditions. The results show that tween‐80 is a good inhibitor in 1.0 M H2SO4, and its adsorption obeys Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Effects of temperature (20–50 °C) and acid concentration (0.5–7.0 M) on the inhibition action were investigated. Polarization curves show that tween‐80 is a mixed‐type inhibitor in sulfuric acid, but prominently inhibits the cathodic reaction. The results obtained from weight loss and potentiodynamic polarization are consistent, and the inhibition action could also be evidenced by AFM images.  相似文献

The synergism between red tetrazolium (RT) and uracil (Ur) on the corrosion of cold rolled steel (CRS) in H2SO4 solution is first investigated by weight loss, potentiodynamic polarization, and atomic force microscope (AFM). Effects of inhibitor concentration (25-500 mg l−1), temperature (20-50 °C), and acid concentration (1.0-5.0 M) on synergism are discussed systematically. The results reveal that RT has a moderate inhibitive effect, and its adsorption obeys the Freundlich adsorption isotherm. For Ur, it has a poor effect. However, incorporation of RT with Ur significantly improves the inhibition performance, and produces synergistic inhibition effect.  相似文献

The corrosion inhibition of mild steel in 0.5 M H2SO4 and 1.0 M HCl by 2-amino-5-phenyl-1,3,4-thiadiazole (APT) has been studied using potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) measurements. The results show that the inhibition efficiency increases with the increase of APT concentration in both acids, and the higher inhibition efficiency is obtained in 0.5 M H2SO4. The adsorption of APT molecules on the steel surface obeys Langmuir adsorption isotherm in both acids, and occurs spontaneously. The molecular dynamics method has also been used to simulate the adsorption of ATP molecule and solvent ions on the iron surface. The results show that with the adsorption of sulfate ions the Fe + anion + APT system has the higher negative interaction energy comparing to the case of the adsorption of chloride ions.  相似文献

The synergistic inhibition effect of 6-benzylaminopurine (BAP) and iodide ion (I) on the corrosion of cold rolled steel (CRS) in 1.0 M H3PO4 solution was studied by weight loss, potentiodynamic polarization curves and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) methods. The results show that BAP has a moderate inhibitive effect. However, incorporation of BAP with I improves the inhibition performance significantly. The adsorption of BAP in the absence and presence of I obeys Langmuir adsorption isotherm. BAP and BAP/I mixture act as mixed-type inhibitors. A probable synergism mechanism is proposed.  相似文献

Ziprasidone is composed of the benzisothiozole-3-piperizine (BITP) and an indole moiety. The inhibition potential of ziprasidone for the corrosion of steel in 1.0 M HCl and 0.5 M H2SO4 was assessed by weight loss, polarisation, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and quantum methods. The results showed that nearly 10 times lower concentration of ziprasidone showed the same efficiency that was rendered by BITP. This is related to the planarity of ziprasidone molecule, potential adsorption sites and the extensive distribution of LUMO orbitals on indole moiety which cause larger back donation. Ziprasidone follow Langmuir adsorption isotherm.  相似文献

The corrosion inhibition effect of N-aminorhodanine (N-AR) on mild steel (MS) in 0.5 M H2SO4 was studied in both short and long immersion duration using potentiodynamic polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), linear polarization resistance (LPR), chronoamperometry and hydrogen gas evolution. The surface morphology of MS was examined with scanning electron microscopy (SEM) in absence and presence inhibitor. The inhibitor adsorption process on MS surfaces obeys the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. The results show that NAR is a good inhibitor for MS in the acidic medium. The inhibition efficiency obtained from potentiodynamic polarization, EIS and LPR up to 98% is determined.  相似文献

The inhibition effect of sodium molybdate (Na2MoO4) on the corrosion of aluminium in 1.0 M H3PO4 solution was studied by weight loss, potentiodynamic polarisation curves and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) methods. The results show that Na2MoO4 is a good inhibitor, and the inhibition efficiency obtained by three methods is higher than 84% at 20 mM. The adsorption of Na2MoO4 obeys Freundlich isotherm at lower concentrations (1–7 mM), while Langmuir isotherm at higher concentrations (7–20 mM). Polarisation curves indicate that Na2MoO4 acts as an anodic inhibitor. EIS spectra exhibit three loops (two capacitive loops and one inductive loop).  相似文献

Butyl triphenyl phosphonium bromide (BuTPPB) has been evaluated as a corrosion inhibitor for mild steel in 0.5 M H2SO4 solutions using galvanostatic polarisation and potentiostatic polarisation measurements. The study was also complemented by infra red (IR) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and quantum chemical calculations. Galvanostatic polarisation measurements showed that the presence of BuTPPB in aerated 0.5 M H2SO4 solutions decreases corrosion currents to a great extent and the corrosion rate decreases with increasing inhibitor concentration at a constant temperature. At 298K, inhibition efficiency was found to be 94.5% for 10−7 M BuTPPB which increased to about 99% for the BuTPPB concentration of 10−2 M. The effect of temperature on the corrosion behaviour of mild steel was studied at five different temperatures ranging from 298 to 338K. The polarisation curves clearly indicate that BuTPPB acts as a mixed type inhibitor. Adsorption of BuTPPB on the mild steel surface follows the Langmuir isotherm.Potentiostatic polarisation measurements showed that passivation was observed only for lower BuTPPB concentrations (10−5 and 10−7 mol l−1) for the mild steel in 0.5 M H2SO4. IR and SEM investigations also confirmed the adsorption of BuTPPB on the mild steel surface in 0.5 M H2SO4 solutions. The molecular parameters obtained using PM3 semi-empirical method, were correlated with the experimentally measured inhibitor efficiencies.  相似文献

The effect of 2,5-dimercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole (DMTD) on the corrosion of mild steel (MS) in 1.0 M H2SO4 was investigated. DMTD acted as a mixed-type inhibitor without change of the mechanism of hydrogen evolution. The inhibition efficiency increased with the increase in concentration of DMTD but decreased with the increase of temperature. Adsorption of the inhibitor on the MS surface obeyed the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. The potential of zero charge suggests MS surface is positively charged in 1.0 M H2SO4. Thermodynamics and quantum chemical calculations reveal that the adsorption process of DMTD includes electrostatic interaction and electron donor–acceptor interactions.  相似文献

The efficiency of 2,5-bis(n-methoxyphenyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazoles (n-MOX), as corrosion inhibitors for mild steel in 1 M HCl and 0.5 M H2SO4 have been determined by weight loss measurements and electrochemical studies. The results showed that these inhibitors revealed a good corrosion inhibition even at very low concentrations. Comparison of results among those obtained by the studied oxadiazoles showed that 2-MOX was the best inhibitor. It is found to behave better in 1 M HCl than in 0.5 M H2SO4. Polarisation curves indicate that 2-MOX is a mixed inhibitor in 1 M HCl, but in 0.5 M H2SO4, the inhibition mode of 2-MOX depends on the electrode potential and acts essentially as a cathodic inhibitor. The inhibition efficiency slightly increases with temperature in the range from 25 to 60 °C, the associated activation energy have been determined. The addition of 2-MOX leads to decrease this activation energy. The adsorption of 2-MOX on the mild steel surface in both acidic media follows a Langmuir isotherm model. Significant correlations are obtained between inhibition efficiency with the calculated chemical indexes, indicating that variation of inhibition with structure of the inhibitors may be explained in terms of electronic properties.  相似文献

The synergistic inhibition effect of rare earth cerium(IV) ion and 3,4-dihydroxybenzaldehye (DHBA) on corrosion of cold rolled steel (CRS) in H2SO4 solution was first investigated by weight loss and potentiodynamic polarization methods. Effects of inhibitor concentration, temperature, immersion time and acid concentration on synergism are discussed in detail. The results reveal that DHBA has moderate inhibitive effect and its adsorption obeys Temkin adsorption isotherm. For the cerium(IV) ion, it has negligible effect. However, incorporation of Ce4+ with DHBA improves the inhibition performance significantly, and produces strong synergistic inhibition effect.  相似文献
