研制了用于WDM全光网的全光纤型分/插复用器,由两个相同的光纤环行器和串接其间的光纤Bragg光栅组成。其中光纤Bragg光栅是用紫外光直写方式在普通单模光纤上制成。文中给出了该复用器的上/下路端口隔离度和信道插入抽耗等主要测量结果。其特点是结构简单,可实现信道波长再利用,从而提高网络的灵活性。  相似文献

Mach-Zehnder interferometers with fiber Bragg gratings (MZ-FG) are investigated as promising devices for wavelength-selectable optical add-and-drop multiplexers (OADM). A wavelength reused OADM performance is demonstrated for the first time to our knowledge in a six-channel, 10 Gb/s WDM experiment using a single-stage MZ-FG. We discuss both theoretically and experimentally the interferometric crosstalk induced by imperfect Bragg-reflectivity. Two methods are proposed to solve the interferometric crosstalk issues. The first one is wavelength offset scheme. It is experimentally confirmed that there is no interference when the wavelength of crosstalk is away from that of the signal at least two times of bit-rate. In order to separate each wavelength, the master-slave wavelength control method is proposed with Fabry-Perot interferometer made of a set of fiber gratings. The second one is a cascaded MZ-FG scheme eliminating the crosstalk itself. The calculation indicates that a Bragg-reflectivity of only 93% can suppress the crosstalk to be -35 dB. Cascaded MZ-FG's have been fabricated to show that the interferometric crosstalk can be successfully reduced to -50 dB for the add signal, and -71 dB for the drop signal, respectively. We demonstrate a novel bidirectional add/drop amplifier (BADA) module by using only one N×N arrayed-waveguide grating (AWG). For the effective transmission of bidirectional signals, it is essential to suppress the relative intensity noise caused by Rayleigh backscattering, multiple reflection, and/or AWG crosstalk. The proposed amplifier module can suppress the relative intensity noise simply by using two optical bandpass filters. No degradation was observed in the receiver sensitivity when these amplifier modules were used for the bidirectional transmission and add/drop multiplexing of wavelength-division-multiplexing signals  相似文献

A bi-directional add/drop amplifier (BADA) module with a superior relative intensity noise (RIN) suppression capability has been realised based on a cost-effective dispersion compensation technique. A 14/spl times/10 Gbit/s bi-directional transmission over 200 km-long conventional SMF and channel-by-channel add/drop has been successfully demonstrated. The authors describe a reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexer designed for 50-GHz channel spacing over either the C- or L-bands. The system may also function as a variable optical attenuator. Reconfigurable channel drop in a wavelength-division multiplexed system is demonstrated using a packaged semiconductor amplifier/filter. The filter is electrically tunable over 9.0 nm with a 0.9-nm width and is used with an optical circulator to demultiplex three 5.0-Gb/s WDM channels spaced by 2.25 nm. A receiver sensitivity improvement and low optical crosstalk is observed over a dynamic range of nearly 10 dB.  相似文献

An assembly process including: flip-chip bonding, microelectromechanical (MEMS) structure release, and atomic layer deposition (ALD) is proposed to integrate a surface micromachined optical switch for optical add/drop multiplexer (OADM) applications. In the current optical switch designs, pre-stressed beams were used to pop up the micromirror and an electrode (substrate) under the beams was designed to perform ON/OFF function of the optical switch. In order to achieve desired popped-up angle for precise optical switching, a flip-chip bonding technique is applied to a mechanical stopper with an accurate joint height that can be used to constrain the movement of the micromirror. A conformal thin layer of dielectric material (Al/sub 2/O/sub 3/) coated on the surfaces of device through an ALD coating process is used to improve vertical actuation force, as well as electrical isolation. Experiments indicate that the micromirrors fabricated by the present assembly process can achieve desired angle that meet the requirements of the proposed OADM configuration.  相似文献

利用锥光纤倏逝波与微球腔回廊模的耦合原理制成一种锥光纤-微球腔-锥光纤(TRT)型光分插复用器(OADM),可用于密集波复用(DWDM)光纤通信系统光节点中.设计制作了一种三锥光纤双微球结构的TRT型OADM.采用在硅片上光刻腐蚀制作V槽,双面光刻腐蚀制成固定微球上光纤柄的小通孔,将锥光纤与微球集合在硅片上成为OADM器件.对所制作的器件用光波测试系统进行了测试,对结果进行了分析.制作的器件对与微球谐振的光信号具有分出与插入功能,而不谐振的信号损耗很小.  相似文献

Polarization independent InP WDM multiplexer/demultiplexer module   总被引:6,自引:0,他引:6  
We report the design, fabrication, packaging, and characterization of a polarization independent integrated optical InP multiplexer/demultiplexer module. The device is based on a vertically etched diffractive grating and separates four channels with 4 spacing in the 1.55 μm window. An n-/n+-InP layer structure with very low birefringence results in a shift of the passbands between transverse electric (TE) and transverse magnetic (TM) polarization of less than 0.1 nm. With a self-aligned flip-chip mounting technique light is optically coupled from the input and output waveguides to an array of lensed single mode fibers with a coupling efficiency of more than 80%. The packaging includes temperature control that allows fine tuning of the channel passbands over 5 nm. Optical crosstalk is always better than -17 dB and fiber to fiber losses of 15 dB are achieved. An eight-channel flat spectral response arrayed-waveguide grating (AWG) multiplexer with asymmetrical Mach-Zehnder filters has been fabricated on the planar lightwave circuit (PLC). The monotonic spectral loss characteristics of AWG have been canceled by the opposite spectral response in the asymmetric MZ filter. The 1.5 dB bandwidth of 141 GHz and 3 dB bandwidth of 159 GHz are obtained for the 200 GHz channel spacing. The 1.5 dB bandwidth becomes 1.8 times wider than that of the conventional AWG. Crosstalks to neighboring and all other channels are less than -24 dB and the on-chip insertion losses range from 7.0 to 7.4 dB, respectively.  相似文献
