Parallelism can be used to increase the bandwidths of ADC converters based on sigma–delta modulators. Each modulator converts a part of the input signal band and is followed by a digital filter. Unfortunately, solutions using bandpass sigma–delta modulators are very sensitive to the position of the modulators’ central frequencies. This paper shows the feasibility of a frequency-band-decomposition (FBD) ADC using continuous time bandpass sigma–delta modulators, even in the case of large analog mismatches. The major benefit of such a solution, called extended-frequency-band-decomposition (EFBD) is its low sensitivity to analog parameters. For example, a relative error in the central frequencies of 4% can be accepted without significant degradation in the performance (other published FBD ADCs require a precision of the central frequencies better than 0.1%). This paper will focus on the performance which can be reached with this system, and the architecture of the digital part. The quantization of coefficients and operators will be addressed. It will be shown that a 14 bit resolution can be theoretically reached using 10 sixth-order bandpass modulators at a sampling frequency of 800 MHz which results in a bandwidth of 80 MHz centered around 200 MHz (the resolution depends on the effective quality factor of the filters of the analog modulators).  相似文献

This paper presents an efficient dynamic spectrum allocation (DSA) scheme in a flexible spectrum licensing environment where multiple networks coexist and interfere with each other. In particular, an extension of virtual boundary concept in DSA is proposed, which is spectrally efficient than the previous virtual boundary concept applied to donor systems only. Here, the same technique is applied to both donor and rental systems so as to further reduce the occurrences where the insertion of guard bands is obligatory and as a result provides better spectral efficiency. For output-symmetric discrete memoryless channels (DMCs) at even moderately high rates, fixed-block-length communication systems show no improvements in their error exponents with feedback. This paper studies systems with fixed end-to-end delay and shows that feedback generally provides dramatic gains in the error exponents. A new upper bound (the uncertainty-focusing bound) is given on the probability of symbol error in a fixed-delay communication system with feedback. This bound turns out to have a form similar to Viterbi's bound used for the block error probability of convolutional codes as a function of the fixed constraint length. The uncertainty-focusing bound is shown to be asymptotically achievable with noiseless feedback for erasure channels as well as for any output-symmetric DMC that has strictly positive zero-error capacity. Furthermore, it can be achieved in a delay-universal (anytime) fashion even if the feedback itself is delayed by a small amount. Finally, it is shown that for end-to-end delay, it is generally possible at high rates to beat the sphere-packing bound for general DMCs - thereby providing a counterexample to a conjecture of Pinsker.  相似文献

A model that combines the extended Hubbard model involving intra-atomic and interatomic Coulomb repulsion and the Holstein model describing the interaction of a band electron with an Einstein phonon is proposed. Three regions of the phase diagram are considered. The regions correspond to the states of spin- and charge-density waves and the state uniform in spin and charge. Numerical estimations for the Rh, Ir, and Pt substrates show that Coulomb interaction plays a leading part, making possible transitions from the uniform state to the states of spin- and charge-density waves.  相似文献

The construction of overhead lines, their maintenance, refurbishment and renewal are nowadays seen in a different light than before. Today environmental aspects are among the most challenging aspects of high concern – in every part of life. The society's point of view has changed during the last 20 years – nature and environment are now of mayor interest. In addition to techniques and science, the perception of landscape, fauna and flora is taken into consideration during the planning process of an OHL. We call this "Extended Ecology". The project presented here for the replacement of a 220 kV overhead line which will run along an existing OHL corridor through a floodplain woodland in a nature protective zone is a good example for the new approach. To create harmony between ecology and economy is a precondition of the project. The responsible and careful treatment of the existing OHL corridor during the last few years has resulted in an improvement of conditions. In only a few years the number of endangered species living in these areas and listed on the "Red Data Lists" has increased from 23 to 40. The city of Linz is the capital of the Region "Upper Austria" and is Austria's centre for heavy metal industry with European dimensions (e.g.VOEST Alpine). The city is also well-known for advanced technologies and recently for modern arts (ars electronica, Klangwolke, European Cultural Capital 2009). The expansion of the industry and of dwelling areas reduced and endangered the natural environment; therefore – and as a logical compromise – several areas were nominated as natural protective zones. Existing overhead lines run through some of these, and some of them need to be uprated. Two parallel 110 kV OHL run through the protected floodplain woodland of "Donau-Traun-Auen". One of them was built in the 1940ies and needs to be rebuilt as a 220 kV line. Since 2006 ecological treatment techniques have been in practice in these corridors. This area originally showed a pattern of degraded nutrient-poor alluvial meadows, rich in invasive neophytes, fragments of semi-dry calcareous-grassland, tiny large sedge or reed beds in moist depressions and large short rotation coppice woodland. During the last years additional ecological compensation measures have been implemented: ponds have been created and open gravel areas generated by construction measures have been re-vegetated taking into account the soil seed bank and using proved techniques of nature conservation. Significant success can be reported after only a few years of subtle treatment techniques aimed at optimal development of target vegetation. The typical composition of plant species could be restored in core areas of nutrient-poor alluvial meadows. The number of species enumerated in "Red Data Lists" has increased from 23 to 40, including highly endangered plants demanding moderate disturbance regimes. If ecological treatment is continued, further increase of environmental conservation value in the corridor can be expected.  相似文献

In this two-part paper, information-theoretic capacity scaling laws are analyzed in an underwater acoustic network with n regularly located nodes on a square, in which both bandwidth and received signal power can be limited significantly. Parts I and II deal with an extended network of unit node density and a dense network of unit area, respectively. In both cases, a narrow-band model is assumed where the carrier frequency is allowed to scale as a function of n, which is shown to be crucial for achieving the order optimality in multi-hop (MH) mechanisms. We first characterize an attenuation parameter that depends on the frequency scaling as well as the transmission distance. Upper and lower bounds on the capacity scaling are then derived. In Part I, we show that the upper bound on capacity for extended networks is inversely proportional to the attenuation parameter, thus resulting in a highly power-limited network. Interestingly, it is shown that the upper bound is intrinsically related to the attenuation parameter but not the spreading factor. Furthermore, we propose an achievable communication scheme based on the nearest-neighbor MH transmission, which is suitable due to the low propagation speed of acoustic channel, and show that it is order-optimal for all operating regimes of extended networks. Finally, these scaling results are extended to the case of random node deployments providing fundamental limits to more complex scenarios of extended underwater networks.  相似文献

Alloys based on the Sn-0.7Cu-xNi system are potential Pb-free solders. In this paper we report on the solidification characteristics and microstructures of Sn-0.7Cu alloys containing 0–1,000 ppm nickel. The microstructural observations show that increasing the nickel content reduces the volume fraction of primary Sn, thus generating a more-eutectic microstructure. In an attempt to better understand the changes in solderability with Ni additions, fluidity tests were carried out using the Ragone method for small incremental increases in nickel content. The maximum fluidity length was found to vary strongly with nickel content. Additionally, the distribution of nickel within samples was investigated using synchrotron micro X-ray fluorescence.  相似文献

A H-terminated surface conductive layer of B-doped diamond on a (111) surface was used to fabricate a metal–oxide–semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET) using an electron beam evaporated SiO2 or Al2O3 gate insulator and a Cu-metal stacked gate. When the bulk carrier concentration was approximately 1015/cm3 and the B-doped diamond layer was 1.5 μm thick, the surface carrier mobility of the H-terminated surface on the (111) diamond before FET processing was 35 cm2/Vs and the surface carrier concentration was 1.5 × 1013/cm2. For the SiO2 gate (0.76 μm long and 50 μm wide), the maximum measured drain current at a gate voltage of −3.0 V was −75 mA/mm and the maximum transconductance was 24 mS/mm, and for the Al2O3 gate (0.64 μm long and 50 μm wide), these features were −86 mA/mm and 15 mS/mm, respectively. These values are among the highest reported direct-current (DC) characteristics for a diamond homoepitaxial (111) MOSFET.  相似文献
