Several statistical decision making tools and methods are available to organize evidence, evaluate risks, and aid in decision making. Process capability indices are the summary statistics to point out the process performance. In this paper, these indices are analyzed to obtain a new decision making tool. Process accuracy index (Ca) measures the degree of process centering and gives alerts when the process mean departures from the target value. It focuses on the location of process mean and the distance between mean and target value. We modify the traditional process accuracy index to obtain a new tool under fuzziness. With the proposed tool, specification limits and process mean can be defined as triangular or trapezoidal fuzzy numbers. The proposed tool is illustrated to solve a supplier selection problem.  相似文献

Engineering tolerance plays an important role in the process capability analysis for determining whether a manufacturing process is capable of making good quality products. In contrast with the engineering tolerance region in a multivariate manufacturing process, the multidimensional machining process or the nano-cutting process has a special engineering tolerance called the positional tolerance. Positional tolerance is a special type of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing which describes the tolerance region between the actual location of machining results and the target location. In the past few years, several capability indices have been developed for measuring the performance of a multidimensional machining process under the assumption that the variances of machining results on different directions are equal. However, this assumption may not be true in most practical situations. In this paper, we propose three novel capability indices for measuring the performance of a multidimensional machining process under the assumption that the variances of machining results on different directions may not be equal. The statistical properties of the point estimators and their confidence intervals for the new capability indices are derived. Both the simulation results and numerical examples show that the new capability indices outperform the predecessors.  相似文献

Process capability index Cpk has been widely used in the manufacturing industry as a process performance measure. In this paper, we investigate the natural estimator of the index Cpk, and show that under the assumption of normality its distribution can be expressed as a mixture of the chi-square and the normal distributions. We also implement the theory of hypothesis testing using the natural estimator of Cpk, and provide efficient Maple programs to calculate the p-values as well as the critical values for various values of -risk, capability requirements, and sample sizes. The behavior of the p-values and critical values as functions of the distribution parameters are investigated to obtain tight critical values for reliable testing. Based on the test, we develop a simple and practical procedure for in-plant applications. The practitioners can use the proposed procedure to determine whether their process meets the preset capability requirement, and make reliable decisions.  相似文献

In manufacturing industries, the quality of a product depends on the combined effect of multiple input variables working singly or together and therefore attention has been given on process capability indices to shift from single to multivariate domain. In case of multivariable domain the capability to incorporate uncertainties at the time of decision making becomes necessary. Fuzzy system is introduced to take care of this requirement. In this article the process parameters of soap manufacturing industries have been analyzed. The process capability is determined using Fuzzy Inference System rule editor based on a set of justified if then statements as applicable for the process. The data has been collected in linguistic form to derive its process capability, using a set of justified rules and the effect of each factor has been determined using Design of Experiments (DoE) and analysis of variance technique (ANOVA) for improving the soap quality from perspective of its softness. This article ventures to propose a new methodology by integrating Fuzzy with DoE providing better result followed by DoE and Fuzzy Inference system in isolation.  相似文献

A structural implementation of a fuzzy inference system through connectionist network based on MLP with logical neurons connected through binary and numerical weights is considered. The resulting fuzzy neural network is trained using classical backpropagation to learn the rules of inference of a fuzzy system, by adjustment of the numerical weights. For controller design, training is carried out off line in a closed loop simulation. Rules for the fuzzy logic controller are extracted from the network by interpreting the consequence weights as measure of confidence of the underlying rule. The framework is used in a simulation study for estimation and control of a pulp batch digester. The controlled variable, the Kappa number, a measure of lignin content in the pulp, which is not measurable is estimated through temperature and liquor concentration using the fuzzy neural network. On the other hand a fuzzy neural network is trained to control the Kappa number and rules are extracted from the trained network to construct a fuzzy logic controller.  相似文献

The interval estimation fusion method based on sensor interval estimates and their confidence degrees is developed. When sensor estimates are independent of each other, a combination rule to merge sensor estimates and their confidence degrees is proposed. Moreover, two optimization criteria: minimizing interval length with an allowable minimum confidence degree, or maximizing confidence degree with an allowable maximum interval length are suggested. In terms of the two criteria, an optimal interval estimation fusion can be obtained based on the combined intervals and their confidence degrees. Then we can extend the results on the combined interval outputs and their confidence degrees to obtain a conditional combination rule and the corresponding optimal fault-tolerant interval estimation fusion in terms of the two criteria. It is easy to see that Marzullo's fault-tolerant interval estimation fusion [Marzullo, (1990). Tolerating failures of continuous-valued sensors. This paper presents a Fuzzy Estimation Approach based on Decision Making (FEADM) to estimate point soil moisture, in order to develop a regional soil moisture estimate. This keeps the advantages of an automatic irrigation system but avoiding their operational complexity. In the FEADM 's first stage, the Fuzzy Analytical Process weigh five fuzzified environmental inputs used as assessment criteria. These criteria are used by a selective assessment stage, where only the relevant criteria for each alternative are assessed. As result, the best assessments of each alternative and the best assessed alternative are obtained. In the second stage, an output membership function is assigned to every alternative for its forward aggregation and defuzzification. This process reaches a soil moisture estimate. Unlike other models, FEADM allows estimating a quantitative value from a decision making process. Furthermore, its computational cost is lower than conventional fuzzy estimation models due to the selective assessment.  相似文献

Background

Early stage software effort estimation is a crucial task for project bedding and feasibility studies. Since collected data during the early stages of a software development lifecycle is always imprecise and uncertain, it is very hard to deliver accurate estimates. Analogy-based estimation, which is one of the popular estimation methods, is rarely used during the early stage of a project because of uncertainty associated with attribute measurement and data availability.

Aims

We have integrated analogy-based estimation with Fuzzy numbers in order to improve the performance of software project effort estimation during the early stages of a software development lifecycle, using all available early data. Particularly, this paper proposes a new software project similarity measure and a new adaptation technique based on Fuzzy numbers.

Method

Empirical evaluations with Jack-knifing procedure have been carried out using five benchmark data sets of software projects, namely, ISBSG, Desharnais, Kemerer, Albrecht and COCOMO, and results are reported. The results are compared to those obtained by methods employed in the literature using case-based reasoning and stepwise regression.

Results

In all data sets the empirical evaluations have shown that the proposed similarity measure and adaptation techniques method were able to significantly improve the performance of analogy-based estimation during the early stages of software development. The results have also shown that the proposed method outperforms some well know estimation techniques such as case-based reasoning and stepwise regression.

Conclusions

It is concluded that the proposed estimation model could form a useful approach for early stage estimation especially when data is almost uncertain.  相似文献

It is well recognised that that there is a correlation between process maturity in large organisations and project success. In response to this, a number of process models and standards have been developed for the large-project environment. The Australian defence industry, unlike many overseas countries, relies to a much greater extent on small and medium-sized enterprises to supply equipment and services. Hence, the question has arisen about the scalability of overseas concepts to the Australian defence industry situation. To address this question, a research project has been undertaken to identify the current baseline of process capability for the South Australian defence software and systems engineering industry. This paper presents findings from the research project, including a general characterisation of the industry process capability and a discussion of the common perceived strengths and challenges of organisations within the industry. The project’s objectives, research design and findings are then compared and contrasted with similar research activities conducted in different parts of the world. Finally, the paper draws conclusions based on the body of work presented and suggests areas for future research and development to address industry needs.  相似文献

Delivering an accurate estimate of software development effort plays a decisive role in successful management of a software project. Therefore, several effort estimation techniques have been proposed including analogy based techniques. However, despite the large number of proposed techniques, none has outperformed the others in all circumstances and previous studies have recommended generating estimation from ensembles of various single techniques rather than using only one solo technique. Hence, this paper proposes two types of homogeneous ensembles based on single Classical Analogy or single Fuzzy Analogy for the first time. To evaluate this proposal, we conducted an empirical study with 100/60 variants of Classical/Fuzzy Analogy techniques respectively. These variants were assessed using standardized accuracy and effect size criteria over seven datasets. Thereafter, these variants were clustered using the Scott-Knott statistical test and ranked using four unbiased errors measures. Moreover, three linear combiners were used to combine the single estimates. The results show that there is no best single Classical/Fuzzy Analogy technique across all datasets, and the constructed ensembles (Classical/Fuzzy Analogy ensembles) are often ranked first and their performances are, in general, higher than the single techniques. Furthermore, Fuzzy Analogy ensembles achieve better performance than Classical Analogy ensembles and there is no best Classical/Fuzzy ensemble across all datasets and no evidence concerning the best combiner.  相似文献

This paper studies the control of pH neutralization processes using fuzzy controllers. As the process to be controlled is highly nonlinear the usual PI-type fuzzy controller is not able to control these systems adequately. To solve this problem, based on prior knowledge of the process, the pH neutralization process is divided into several fuzzy regions such as high-gain, medium-gain and low-gain, with an auxiliary variable used to detect the process operation region. Then, a fuzzy logic controller can also be designed using this auxiliary variable as input, giving adequate performance in all regions. This controller has been tested in real-time on a laboratory plant. On-line results show that the designed control system operates the plant in a range of pH values, despite perturbations and variations of the plant parameters, obtaining good performance at the desired working points.  相似文献

A modelling strategy based on the application of fuzzy logic is shown to provide a powerful and efficient method for the estimation of non-linear and linear economic relationships. The procedure is particularly suitable for the estimation of ill-defined systems in which there is considerable uncertainty about the nature and range of key input variables. In addition, no prior knowledge is required about the form of the underlying relationships, and trend, cyclical and irregular components of the model can all be estimated in a single pass. The potential benefits of the fuzzy logic approach are illustrated using a model of real-wage behaviour in the United States over the period 1960-1995. The results suggest that the relationships in the model are basically non-linear.  相似文献

This article proposes a mixed interval set‐membership estimation (ISME) method for continuous linear time‐invariant (LTI) systems by combining the positive system theory and the set theory. The proposed ISME method gives a new mixed interval‐set estimation framework for continuous LTI systems, whose benefit consists in that it has potential to achieve a balance of computational complexity and robust state estimation conservatism with respect to the interval observer (IO) and the set‐valued observer (SVO) for continuous LTI systems. Particularly, the proposed ISME method first uses a coordinate transformation such that the original system is transformed into an equivalent system. Second, the equivalent system is partitioned into two subsystems, where the first subsystem has a Meztler and Hurwitz subsystem matrix and then an IO is designed for the first subsystem based on the positive system theory. Because it is not guaranteed that the second subsystem also has a Meztler and Hurwitz subsystem matrix, a zonotopic SVO is further designed for the second subsystem based on the set theory. Consequently, an integration of the two steps above provides the whole SE results for the original system. At the end of this article, an example is used to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed ISME method.  相似文献

在非线性模型参数失配下,直接采用滤波算法很难获到理想的估计状态.本文基于扩展集员估计方法,在状态估计中引入参数的不确定信息,提出一种参数失配有界下的状态估计方法.该方法应用区间或集合运算的法则,计算由参数失配引起的偏差范围,并将其用椭球集外包.在状态估计的预测步,通过该偏差椭球集与先验椭球区间的并运算,得到预测椭球区间;在状态估计的更新步,利用观测椭球集对预测椭球区间进行更新,从而得到后验椭球集合以及状态估计值.最后,在数值仿真和发酵模型中的仿真应用验证了算法的有效性.  相似文献
