This paper introduces a Software Design Specification and Analysis Technique (SDSAT) for safety-critical systems based on a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). During software development phases, the design phase performs an important role in connecting the requirements phase and the implementation phase, and it is a process of translating software requirements into software structures. In this work, the Nuclear FBD-style Design Specification and analysis (NuFDS) approach was proposed for nuclear Instrumentation and Control (I&C) software. The NuFDS approach is suggested in a straightforward manner for effective and formal software design specification and analysis. Accordingly, the proposed NuFDS approach is composed of a software design specification technique and a software design analysis technique. In addition, for tool support in the design phase, we developed the NuSDS tool based on the NuFDS approach; this tool is used specifically for generating software design specification and analysis for nuclear fields.  相似文献

In this paper, minimum weight design of composite laminates is presented using the failure mechanism based (FMB), maximum stress and Tsai–Wu failure criteria. The objective is to demonstrate the effectiveness of the newly proposed FMB failure criterion (FMBFC) in composite design. The FMBFC considers different failure mechanisms such as fiber breaks, matrix cracks, fiber compressive failure, and matrix crushing which are relevant for different loading conditions. A genetic algorithm is used for the optimization study. The Tsai–Wu failure criterion over predicts the weight of the laminate by up to 86% in the third quadrant of the failure envelope compared to FMB and maximum stress failure criteria, when the laminate is subjected to compressive–compressive loading. It is found that the FMB and maximum stress failure criteria give comparable weight estimates. The FMBFC can be considered for use in the strength design of composite structures.  相似文献

This paper presents a hybrid methodology for conceptual design of large systems with the goal of enhancing system reliability. It integrates the features of several design methodologies and maintenance planning concepts with the traditional reliability analysis. The methodology considers the temporal quality characteristic “reliability” as the main objective and determines the optimal system design. Key ideas from several design methodologies, namely axiomatic design, robust design, and the theory of inventive problem solving, have been integrated with the functional prioritization framework provided by reliability-centered maintenance. A case study of the conceptual design of a multiphase pumping station for crude oil production is presented. The methodology provides a new design tool for determining system configurations with enhanced reliability taking into account maintenance resources and variability.  相似文献

This article presents a multi-objective (maximization of availability and minimization of maintenance cost) preventive maintenance (PM) scheduling model for a continuous operating series system (COSS) which do not provide an off-working period for PM. The objective functions are optimized by using a Multi-Objective Genetic Algorithm (MOGA). The effectiveness of the model is demonstrated through a coal-fired boiler-tube. The case study shows that the model can improve the availability along with profound reduction of the maintenance cost, i.e., increases the profit of the plant.  相似文献

The Physical Internet (PI) logistics system is an innovative logistics concept that has been gathering a lot of attention lately. This system consists of open, modular and shared containers and transit hubs to move goods globally. The purpose of this paper is to compare the performance of PI with regard to the conventional (CO) logistics system in order to quantify the advantages and disadvantages of PI from a truck and driver routing perspective with an explicit constraint on maximum return time for drivers. The comparison presented in this work is carried out through Monte-Carlo simulation within a sequential three-phase optimisation framework. Based on our analysis, PI reduces driving distance (and time), GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions and the social cost of truck driving. On the other hand, it increases the number of container transfers within the PI logistics centres. This insight is a contribution of the paper and reinforces the current literature on PI. The other main contribution of the paper is a validation of the claim that the number of drivers who can go back home at the end of a work day remains consistently high in PI, regardless of the traffic level.  相似文献

Genetic algorithms (GAs) are efficient stochastic search techniques for approximating optimal solutions within complex search spaces and used widely to solve NP-hard problems. Genetic algorithm includes a number of parameters whose different levels strictly affect the performance of the algorithm. The general approach to determine the appropriate parameter combination of GA depends on too many trials of different combinations, and the best one of them that produces good results is selected for the programme, which would be used for problem solving. A few researchers studied on the parameter optimisation of GA. In this paper, response surface-dependent parameter optimisation is proposed to determine the optimal parameters of GA. Results are tested for benchmark problems that are most common in mixed-model assembly line balancing problems of type-I.  相似文献

Recently, the manufacturing industry has been striving for sustainability because of the environmental degradation and resource depletion caused by it. Remanufacturing considerably saves material and is energy efficient, and thus, it can represent an important solution to environmental issues. However, the uncertainty of remanufacturing makes the practical management of closed-loop supply chains (CLSCs) difficult. To unlock the value potential of end-of-life (EOL) products, we studied a reuse, remanufacture, and recycle (3R) processing system under quality uncertainty for returned EOL engines. In the system, the returned cores were distributed into different processing routes, depending on the results of quality grading. The proposed matrix operations could efficiently assess the environmental benefits; moreover, we designed an algorithm to calculate the quality coefficient that reflects the overall quality condition of returned EOL cores. The impacts of quality uncertainty on the environment could be efficiently quantified via our proposed method. Furthermore, using Monte Carlo simulation and the law of large numbers, we devised a model to establish direct and definite quantitative relationships between the quality coefficient and production indexes. This model provides a basis for the formulation of optimal acquisition strategies under different returning scenarios.  相似文献

The paper is a report of an investigative study carried out to evaluate the quality of rings manufactured for rolling element bearings. The rings are manufactured from 36–75 mm diameter bars of high-carbon high-chromium bearing steel, grade SAE-52100 conforming to ASTM A295-1984 in a ring plant, which essentially consists of an induction furnace and a fast-acting hot forging machine consisting of a set of feed rolls, hot shear and four forming stations. The ring plant is capable of producing 17 million rings per annum. Thus the volume of rings produced is very large and the project was undertaken with the objective of process improvement to build in confidence during the manufacture of the product so that it can be sent out without final inspection. The project was carried out in three phases, namely use of variables charts together with the identification of the causal factors for the ovality of rings with the help of cause-and-effect diagrams, followed by process optimization using parameter design, and this, in turn, was followed by on-line control procedure instituted for the control of the variable which deteriorates with time.  相似文献

The combined use of global positioning system (GPS) technology and motion sensors within the discipline of movement ecology has increased over recent years. This is particularly the case for instrumented wildlife, with many studies now opting to record parameters at high (infra-second) sampling frequencies. However, the detail with which GPS loggers can elucidate fine-scale movement depends on the precision and accuracy of fixes, with accuracy being affected by signal reception. We hypothesized that animal behaviour was the main factor affecting fix inaccuracy, with inherent GPS positional noise (jitter) being most apparent during GPS fixes for non-moving locations, thereby producing disproportionate error during rest periods. A movement-verified filtering (MVF) protocol was constructed to compare GPS-derived speed data with dynamic body acceleration, to provide a computationally quick method for identifying genuine travelling movement. This method was tested on 11 free-ranging lions (Panthera leo) fitted with collar-mounted GPS units and tri-axial motion sensors recording at 1 and 40 Hz, respectively. The findings support the hypothesis and show that distance moved estimates were, on average, overestimated by greater than 80% prior to GPS screening. We present the conceptual and mathematical protocols for screening fix inaccuracy within high-resolution GPS datasets and demonstrate the importance that MVF has for avoiding inaccurate and biased estimates of movement.  相似文献

Stress burn-in is an effective burn-in means of screening out the infant mortality components of a system which are conducted under an extremely stressful environment. While investigating stresses, screening burn-in by thermal stress, voltage stress, or mechanical shock stress, most related studies failed to develop an effective method to determine the optimal burn-in time and burn-in cost for a practical operation. Therefore, this study presents an effective procedure that adopts robust design techniques and the accelerated stress test to determine the optimal burn-in time and burn-in cost. A case study of the production of switch mode rectifier demonstrates the proposed procedure's effectiveness. Moreover, the results show that the proposed procedure generalizes well, and can screen out the early failure from material and manufacturing process.  相似文献

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are receiving increasing attention in the private sector; however ex post assessment of operational sustainability performance remains well in advance of ex ante sustainability assessment of capital projects. It is also not yet commonplace to structure emergent forms of sustainability assessment to support the SDGs explicitly. This article reviews theoretical frameworks that aim to conceptualise sustainability assessment, and then explores the potential to develop SDG-focussed forms for use at the project-level. The extent of enhancement needed to current practice is illustrated using the case study of the Asian Development Bank. This analysis reveals that sustainability is being presented as a goal of project-level assessment and there has been progress towards delivering on this by, in particular, extending the thematic coverage. Amongst the key challenges remaining are how to address trade-offs (typically unavoidable for projects) and how to connect the SDGs, set at a global level, to the local-level where projects are considered. These findings, which reveal the gap between theory and practice, can inform efforts to develop SDG-focussed sustainability assessment.  相似文献

One of the advantages of this system is the possibility of keeping the highest pressure of the system within a limit by selecting the composition of a refrigerant mixture as compared to that in the vapor compression system using pure carbon dioxide. Performance test and simulation have been carried out for an autocascade refrigeration system by varying secondary fluid temperatures at evaporator and condenser inlets. Variations of mass flow rate of refrigerant, compressor power, refrigeration capacity, and coefficient of performance (COP) with respect to the mass fraction of R744 in R744/134a and R744/290 mixtures are presented at different operating conditions. Experimental results show similar trends with those from the simulation. As the composition of R744 in the refrigerant mixture increases, cooling capacity is enhanced, but COP tends to decrease while the system pressure rises.

This paper presents new computational and modelling tools for studying the dynamics of an epidemic in its initial stages that use both available incidence time series and data describing the population''s infection network structure. The work is motivated by data collected at the beginning of the H1N1 pandemic outbreak in Israel in the summer of 2009. We formulated a new discrete-time stochastic epidemic SIR (susceptible-infected-recovered) model that explicitly takes into account the disease''s specific generation-time distribution and the intrinsic demographic stochasticity inherent to the infection process. Moreover, in contrast with many other modelling approaches, the model allows direct analytical derivation of estimates for the effective reproductive number (Re) and of their credible intervals, by maximum likelihood and Bayesian methods. The basic model can be extended to include age–class structure, and a maximum likelihood methodology allows us to estimate the model''s next-generation matrix by combining two types of data: (i) the incidence series of each age group, and (ii) infection network data that provide partial information of ‘who-infected-who’. Unlike other approaches for estimating the next-generation matrix, the method developed here does not require making a priori assumptions about the structure of the next-generation matrix. We show, using a simulation study, that even a relatively small amount of information about the infection network greatly improves the accuracy of estimation of the next-generation matrix. The method is applied in practice to estimate the next-generation matrix from the Israeli H1N1 pandemic data. The tools developed here should be of practical importance for future investigations of epidemics during their initial stages. However, they require the availability of data which represent a random sample of the real epidemic process. We discuss the conditions under which reporting rates may or may not influence our estimated quantities and the effects of bias.  相似文献

An innovative hybrid hollow fiber membrane absorber and heat exchanger (HFMAE) made of both porous and nonporous fibers is proposed and studied via mathematical simulation. The porous fibers allow both heat and mass transfers between absorption solution phase and vapor phase, while the nonporous fibers allow heat transfer between absorption solution phase and cooling fluid phase only. The application of HFMAE on an ammonia–water absorption heat pump system as a solution-cooled absorber is analyzed and compared to a plate heat exchanger falling film type absorber (PHEFFA). The substantially higher amount of absorption obtained by the HFMAE is made possible by the vast mass transfer interfacial area per unit device volume provided. The most dominant factor affecting the absorption performance of the HFMAE is the absorption solution phase mass transfer coefficient. The application of HFMAE as the solution-cooled absorber and the water-cooled absorber in a typical ammonia–water absorption chiller allows the increase of COP by 14.8% and the reduction of the overall system exergy loss by 26.7%.  相似文献

We describe the design and operation of a new high-pressure metal ebulliometer which can operate at pressures to at least 3 MPa in the range 220–400 K. Infinite-dilution activity coefficients are presented for the system CHF2Cl + CF3-CH, at 275 K and for the system CF3-CH2F + CH2F2, at 260, 230, and 300 K. The Wilson activity coellicient model and a virial coefficient model are applied to these systems, and the phase equilibrium conditions are calculated. The results are shown to agree well with predicted and with published measured values. The excess enthalpy is calculated and compared with results from a Peng Robinson equation of state. Vapor densities on the dew curves are given.  相似文献
