A combined activated sludge–biofilm bioprocess called TNCU-I was developed by adding a rotating biological contactor to the aerobic zone of a traditional A2O process in order to solve the sludge retention time conflict between nitrifiers and phosphate accumulating organisms (PAOs), and the carbon source competition between denitrifiers and PAO. The TNCU-I process shows excellent carbon, nitrogen, and phosphate removal performance when treating synthetic wastewater. The process also achieved a more stable nitrification performance than the A2O process. The specific nitrification rate, the specific anoxic and aerobic phosphate uptake rates, the specific denitrification rate, and the specific anaerobic phosphate release rate were determined by a series of batch experiments. Such data were further analyzed to optimize the volume ratio of the TNCU-I anaerobic, anoxic, and aerobic tanks. The optimized process was also operated to confirm the performance. In addition, both Nitrosospira and Nitrospira were identified in the activated sludge and the rotating biological contactor biofilm by 16S rDNA based biotechnology.  相似文献

The main objective of the present study is to develop a modified membrane bioreactor (MBR) system for the treatment of municipal wastewater for the enhanced biological removal of nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) simultaneously with the ultimate goal of optimizing the two processes. The paper will address the implementation and optimization of the MBR process with respect to biological characteristics, operational performance, and effluent quality. The system utilizes anoxic P uptake and nitrification–denitrification in a MBR. Following optimization, the system achieved 99% chemical oxygen demand (COD), 98.4% NH3–N, 77.5% TN, and 96.3% P removal producing effluent biological oxygen demand, COD, NH3–N,NO3–N,NO2–N, and P of <3, 3, 0.4, 5.8, 0.050, and 0.18?mg/L, respectively.  相似文献

The trickling filter solids contact water pollution control facility for the city of Ames, Iowa has successfully nitrified wastewater with trickling filters for the past decade. Both first stage, carbonaceous biochemical oxygen demand removing trickling filters (TFs) and second stage, nitrifying TFs (NTFs) remove significant quantities of ammonia from the wastewater. Based on operating data from January 1999 through December 2001, the average specific ammonia removal rate for the TFs was 1.5×10?4?kg?N/(d?m2). Most probable number testing confirmed the presence of nitrifiers in the top media layer of both stages of trickling filters. An experiment was performed whereby flows to the TFs and NTFs were varied to test ammonia removal capabilities of the facility. During the experiment, the TFs removed an average of 2.4×10?4?kg?N/(d?m2) and the NTFs removed an average of 1.5×10?5?kg?N/(d?m2) due to low loading. Data collected during the study varied with operating conditions. It was compared to and used to calibrate NTF models. An empirical design model poorly fit the data, and a theoretically based model could not be calibrated well with apparent ammonia removal rates. A best-fit equation, dependent on hydraulic loading and influent ammonia concentration (adjusted for recirculation), was regressed directly to the data and is useful for describing nitrification in the Ames WPCF TFs.  相似文献

The efficiency of two similar gas-lift bioreactors, a biofilm reactor and a hybrid circulating floating bed reactor (CFBR), were studied and compared. In the biofilm CFBR the biomass grew preferably adhered on a plastic granular support, whereas in the hybrid CFBR both suspended biomass and biofilms were allowed to grow in the reactor. COD/NH4+ ratio (COD=chemical oxygen demand) was manipulated between 0.0 and 8.0?g/g, maintaining the ammonia influent concentration around 50?mg N–NH4+/L, the ammonia loading rate at 0.9?kg N–NH4+/m3?day and the hydraulic retention time at 1.36?h. At low COD/NH4+ ratio (0 and 0.5?g/g) both systems behaved similarly, achieving ammonia removal percentages higher than 95%. In the biofilm CFBR a reduction of the nitrification percentage from 95 to 20% was observed when a COD/N–NH4+ ratio up to 8?g/g was applied in the influent. However, at the same operational conditions, the nitrification process in the hybrid CFBR was slightly affected. In the hybrid-CFBR reactor heterotrophs growing in suspension consumed the COD source faster than those growing in biofilms as was monitored. The growth of heterotrophic microorganism in suspension had a beneficial effect for the nitrifying population growing in the biofilm of the hybrid CFBR. Nitrifying activity of the biofilm was not limited by the presence of heterotrophs consuming dissolved oxygen, displacing the nitrifying bacteria or creating mass transfer resistance as was observed in the biofilm CFBR.  相似文献

The aluminium species in different tea infusions were investigated, by determining their stability constants and concentration. This was done for some particular samples using a simple experimental method based on the sorption of aluminium on the strongly sorbing resin Chelex 100, by a batch procedure. From the thermodynamic information obtained it is possible to calculate the concentration of the different species, and in particular that of the free metal ion, which is very important for evaluating the adsorption of aluminium on biological membranes. It was found that aluminium in the tea infusions here considered is present at high total concentration, approximately 0.1 mM, but mainly linked to strong complexes, for instance with side reaction coefficient higher than 10(5.11) at pH 3.95 in one case (tea 1). This could be the reason for the low toxicity of aluminium in tea. These strong complexes were not dissociated even in the presence of Chelex 100. In this case only a limiting value of the reaction coefficient could be evaluated. The presence of the very strong complexes was found in all the tea sample here considered. In two of the considered samples (one black and one green tea) a part of Al(III) was linked to less strong complexes, for example with a reaction coefficient 10(4.14) (tea 2, pH 4.20). The presence in the considered tea infusions of other substances able to complex aluminium was also detected, by the well known ligand titration procedure, at concentration ranging from 0.65 to 3.37 mM in three tea infusions, and at somewhat higher concentration in the case of the ready drink, which was also considered for comparison.  相似文献

用流体商业软件Fluent对50 t转炉氧枪喷头的冷却水流动进行数值模拟,从冷却水流动的速度矢量图分析其流动特征。通过模拟分析,提出一种兼顾控制冷却水流动、提高冷却效率和喷头端面强度的带有水冷隔板的新结构氧枪喷头。模拟结果表明,由于新结构氧枪喷头内形成独立的进回水通道,可减少水流在水冷腔中对冲造成的能量损失和喷头中心水流死区的产生,有良好的冷却效果,增强了端部中心机械强度,抑制喷头变形。  相似文献
