Recently, TiO2/multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) hybrid nanocatalysts have been a subject of high interest due to their excellent structures, large surface areas and peculiar optical properties, which enhance their photocatalytic performance. In this work, a modified microwave technique was used to rapidly synthesise a TiO2/MWCNT nanocatalyst with a large surface area. X-ray powder diffraction, field-emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller measurements were used to characterise the structure, morphology and the surface area of the sample. The photocatalytic activity of the hybrid nanocatalysts was evaluated through a comparison of the degradation of methylene blue dye under irradiation with ultraviolet and visible light. The results showed that the TiO2/MWCNT hybrid nanocatalysts degraded 34.9% of the methylene blue (MB) under irradiation with ultraviolet light, whereas 96.3% of the MB was degraded under irradiation with visible light.  相似文献

The present work is focused on the preparation of hybrid ZnO/TiO2/Ag2O nanocomposite for enhanced photocatalytic activity. The resultant samples are characterized by using XRD, SEM, EDX, HR-TEM, UV-DRS, BET and XPS techniques. X-ray diffraction analysis indicates the co-existence of wurtzite, anatase and cubic phases in ZnO/TiO2/Ag2O nanocomposite. The band gap energy value of the photocatalyst is 3.39 eV, which has been evidenced from UV–visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy measurements. Photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue dye has been investigated by using UV–visible spectrophotometer. From the result, it has been concluded that ZnO/TiO2/Ag2O nanocomposite has proven to be an efficient photocatalyst under UV irradiation when compared to that of mono and binary oxide systems. Further, the possible photodegradation mechanism is proposed to support the enhancement of photocatalytic activity towards degradation of dyes.  相似文献

Ag loaded TiO2 nanoplate array which grew on activated carbon fiber (ACF) was prepared in the present work. The as-prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and UV–Vis diffuse reflectance spectra (DRS). The photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue (MB) was used to investigate the activity of the synthesized samples. Under both UV and visible light irradiation, the Ag loaded samples showed enhanced photocatalytic activity. Besides, the effect of the deposition dosage of Ag nanoparticles on the photocatalytic activity was also investigated. Under UV light irradiation, the Ag nanoparticles acted as electron traps, which enhanced electron–hole separation efficiency of TiO2. Under visible light irradiation, the Ag nanoparticles showed surface plasmon resonance, which induced the visible light responsive photocatalytic activity for the obtained samples.  相似文献

In this paper, we reported a “green” and facile method for one-pot solvothermal synthesis of carbon dots (CDs)/Ag nanoparticles (AgNPs)/titanium dioxide (TiO2, commercial Degussa P25) ternary nanocomposites with enhanced photocatalytic performance. The characterizations of this ternary photocatalyst were studied at length and our results revealed that the crystalline phase of TiO2 component remained unchanged after the reaction. While the newborn AgNPs and CDs were tightly attached onto the surface of TiO2 nanoparticles. The photocatalytic activities of photocatalysts were tested by measurements of photo-degradation on methylene blue (MB) under ultraviolet (UV) and visible light. It was showed that the photocatalytic performance of the ternary photocatalyst was superior to that of single TiO2 or CDs/TiO2 binary photocatalyst. It was probably attributed to the synergistic effect of the photoelectrical properties of CDs and the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) effect of AgNPs, which could both enhance the absorption of visible light and hinder the recombination of photogenerated electron-hole pairs.  相似文献

Effective design and fabrication of novel visible light-oriented photocatalysts is an existing challenging task that requires further dedicated efforts, and it has been always a main concern among the scientific community. This study deals with the design and fabrication of an extremely active and ultrafast ternary photocatalyst based on Ag nanoparticles, polypyrrole doped carbon black (PPy-C) and mesoporous TiO2 (m-TiO2). Sol-gel methodology along with sonication and photodeposition routes have been employed for the successful creation of the ternary framework. Ternary photocatalyst composed of uniform spherical titania nanoparticles (10–15 nm in size) perfectly intermingled with the polymeric linkage of PPy-C. Fruitful creation of unique trio photocatalyst between AgNPs, PPy-C and m-TiO2 was confirmed by XPS and XRD. FTIR analysis further supports the development of nanocomposite photocatalyst. TEM analysis showed uniform spherical m-TiO2 nanoparticles (10–15 nm in size) covered by PPy-C with compact nodes like appearance interlocked very well among each other. The newly developed Ag@PPy-C/m-TiO2 ternary photocatalyst exhibited band gap energy in desired visible range of spectra. The photocatalytic efficiency for all created photocatalysts has been evaluated taking Imidacloprid (insecticide derivative) and methylene blue (MB) dye as target pollutants. The novel Ag@PPy-C/m-TiO2 photocatalyst produced astonishing results with ultrafast removal of both Imidacloprid as well MB dye under visible light irradiation. The newly created ultrafast Ag@PPy-C/m-TiO2 photocatalyst has removed 96.0% of the insecticide Imidacloprid in only 25 min with almost ? 2.65 times more efficient than bare m-TiO2 towards the removal of insecticide derivative. The present report offers a highly encouraging and vastly talented Ag@PPy-C/m-TiO2 ternary photocatalyst, enabling the ideal management of extremely lethal and notorious chemicals.  相似文献

Silver nanoparticles doped on titanium oxide (TiO2) were produced by laser-liquid interaction of silver nitrate (AgNO3) in isopropanol. Characteristics of Ag/TiO2 (Ag doped TiO2) nanoparticles produced by the methods presented in this article were investigated by XRD, TEM, SEM, EDX, and UV-Vis. From the UV-Vis measurements, the absorption of visible light of the Ag/TiO2 photocatalysts was improved (additional absorption at longer wavelength in visible light region) obviously. The photocatalytic efficiency of Ag/TiO2 was tested by the degradation of methylene blue (MB) in aqueous solution. A maximum of 82.3% MB degradation is achieved by 2.0 wt% Ag/TiO2 photocatalyst under 2 h illumination with a halogen lamp.  相似文献

Ag2O modified TiO2 nanoparticles were synthesized by precipitation and wet impregnation method. They were characterized by X-ray diffraction technique, UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectrophotometry and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry was performed to quantify Ag amount in the photocatalysts. The photocatalysts occurred in the concentration range of 0.05%–2% in the Ag/Ti molar ratio. The photocatalytic activity was investigated for the degradation of methylene blue as a model organic dye. Optimum reaction conditions were determined to provide maximum dye degradation efficiencies under visible light. Under visible light illumination, C2-Ag2O/TiO2 (Ag/Ti = 0.1/100) showed the highest activity. Reaction rate constants were calculated and compared for various reaction conditions.  相似文献

BiVO4/TiO2 nanocomposites were successfully synthesized by coupling the modified sol-gel method with hydrothermal method. The samples were physically characterized X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, Brunauer, Emmett and Teller (BET)-specific surface area, UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectrophotometry, zeta potential, and photoluminescence techniques. The BiVO4/TiO2 nanocomposites exhibited good photocatalytic activity in degradation of methylene blue under simulated solar light irradiation. The photodegradation of methylene blue demonstrated that 0.5BiVO4/0.5TiO2 photocatalyst exhibited much enhanced photoactivity than pure BiVO4 and TiO2. Based on the obtained results, the as-prepare BiVO4/ TiO2 nanocomposite possessed great adsorptivity of methylene blue, extended light adsorption range, and efficient charge separation properties. Overall, this work could provide new insights into the fabrication of a BiVO4/TiO2 composite as high performance photocatalyst and promise as a solar light photocatalyst for dye wastewater treatment.  相似文献

A novel visible‐light‐driven photocatalyst of Mo‐doped LiInO2 nanocomposite was successfully synthesized through a sol‐gel method. The effect of Mo‐doping concentrations on the microstructures and properties of LiInO2 was characterized by X‐ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy, photoluminescence, and ultraviolet‐visible absorption spectra. The photocatalytic properties of the as‐prepared samples were evaluated by the photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue (MB) dye under visible‐light irradiation. The results demonstrated that the photocatalytic activity of 6% Mo‐LiInO2 reached to 98.6%, which was much higher than that of the undoped photocatalyst LiInO2 (only 46.8%). The enhanced photocatalytic activity is ascribed to Mo‐doping strategy. The holes play an important role in the process of the photodegradation of MB. The superior photocatalytic activity of the as‐prepared Mo‐LiInO2 nanocomposites suggests a potential application for organic dye degradation of wastewater remediation. This work provides a further understanding on tailoring the band structure of semiconductor photocatalyst for enhancing visible‐light absorption and promoting electron‐hole separation by Mo‐doping strategy.  相似文献

In this study, Zr-Ag co-doped TiO2 (ZAT) photocatalyst films having varied numbers of layers (1, 2, 3, and 4) have been developed to coat on ceramic tile substrates by sol-gel spin coating technique. The specimens were tested to determine antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli and the capability to degrade gaseous formaldehyde under visible light. X-ray diffraction, ultraviolet and visible absorption spectroscopy, water contact angle, and scanning electron microscopy were applied to characterize the structural and morphological properties of the samples. The photocatalytic reactivity of the nanocomposite films was investigated by the decolorization of methylene blue (MB) dye under visible light irradiation. The results showed that the two-layer ZAT photocatalyst film on ceramic tile exhibited the highest photocatalytic decolorization of MB, with 60.36% efficiency. The ZAT tile had formaldehyde degradation efficiency up to 32.74% within only 6 h under visible light irradiation, higher than that of the bare ceramic tile (4.90%). Additionally, the ZAT thin films could enhance anti-E. coli activity and could be capable of degrading air pollution.  相似文献

In this work, TiO2‒Ag nanocomposite thin films were fabricated for the first time via simultaneous plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition and physical vapor deposition of TiO2 and Ag nanoparticles in the gas-phase, respectively. The presence of Ag nanoparticles in the prepared nanocomposites has been confirmed using transmission electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry techniques. The obtained electron microscopy images showed that the average size of TiO2‒Ag nanoparticles was larger than that of pristine TiO2. Moreover, the temperature of the anatase transformation into the rutile phase was decreased due to the presence of Ag nanoparticles in the TiO2 matrix, while the photocatalytic activity of the produced nanocomposite (estimated by studying the degradation of methylene blue aqueous solution under UV irradiation) was 35% greater than that of pristine TiO2. Therefore, the addition of Ag nanoparticles into the TiO2 matrix significantly affected the morphology, phase transformation temperature, and photocatalytic performance of the fabricated material.  相似文献

In this study, a magnetically recyclable Ni1-xCdxCeyFe2-yO4-rGO (x, y = 0.05) (NCCF-rGO) nanocomposite photocatalyst has been prepared by following a facile in-situ co-precipitation method combined with ultra-sonication means. The as-synthesized magnetically separable NCCF-rGO nanocomposite photocatalyst efficiently degrades methylene blue (MB) dye in comparison to bare Ni1-xCdxCeyFe2-yO4 (x, y = 0.05) (NCCF) nanoparticles (NPs) under visible light irradiation. The photo-degradation rate of MB with NCCF-rGO was ~9 times higher than NCCF nanoparticles (NPs). This enhanced photocatalytic performance of NCCF-rGO photocatalyst was due to the presence of reduced graphene oxide, which greatly help in production of photoactive species by reducing the rate of electro-hole pair recombination. The role of photoactive species that were responsible for the photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue has also been investigated. The as-synthesized NCCF-rGO photocatalyst expressed superb chemical stability and photocatalytic activity even after seven cycle runs. Moreover, the NCCF-rGO nanocomposite worked at all pH values and showed good acid resistance. In particular, the as-synthesized NCCF-rGO photocatalyst could be collected for the next cycle run by simply applying an external magnetic field. Hence, the NCCF-rGO nanocomposite could have potential use in organic dyes contained wastewater treatment.  相似文献

It is critical to develop an appropriate dye degrading technique to preserve the natural environment and human health owing to the dangerous water pollution caused by effluent dyes. So, in this work, a ZSM-5/TiO2/Ni photocatalyst was synthesized as a novel composite and used for degrading methylene blue dye in the solution. The sol–gel approach was used to immobilize titanium dioxide nanoparticles on the ZSM-5 surface, and the resulting photocatalyst was then modified using nickel nanoparticles to improve its photocatalytic performance. The nanocomposite was characterized using different tools such as FE-SEM, EDX, XRD, FT-IR, TGA, and UV–Vis spectrophotometer. The XRD confirmed that the synthesized composite has the characteristic TiO2 peaks. FE-SEM images of ZSM-5 exhibited rough, uneven, and jagged surfaces. A distinct shift in the morphology of the surface resulted when titanium dioxide was fully immobilized on the surface of ZSM-5. Shape complexity and surface roughness of the particles are elevated in the case of the ZSM-5/TiO2/Ni nanocomposite. The maximum % degradation of 50 mL of 15 mg/L of methylene blue dye is 99.17% and achieved at pH?=?8, irradiation time?=?140 min, and photocatalyst dosage?=?0.05 g. The synthesized composite can be regenerated and reused several times without losing its efficacy.

A unique Cu2O/TiO2 nanocomposite with high photocatalytic activity was synthesized via a two-step chemical solution method and used for the photocatalytic degradation of organic dye. The structure, morphology, composition, optical and photocatalytic properties of the as-prepared samples were investigated in detail. The results suggested that the Cu2O/TiO2 nanocomposite is composed of hierarchical TiO2 hollow microstructure coated by a great many Cu2O nanoparticles. The photocatalytic performance of Cu2O/TiO2 nanocomposite was evaluated by the photodegradation of methylene blue (MB) under visible light, and compared with those of the pure TiO2 and Cu2O photocatalysts synthesized by the identical synthetic route. Within 120 min of reaction time, nearly 100% decolorization efficiency of MB was achieved by Cu2O/TiO2 photocatalyst, which is much higher than that of pure TiO2 (26%) or Cu2O (32%). The outstanding photocatalytic efficiency was mainly ascribed to the unique architecture, the extended photoresponse range and efficient separation of the electron-hole pairs in the Cu2O/TiO2 heterojunction. In addition, the Cu2O/TiO2 nanocomposite also retains good cycling stability in the photodegradation of MB.  相似文献

In this research, novel ternary Ag/αFe2O3-rGO nanocomposites with various contents of GO were synthesized via a facile one-pot hydrothermal method. Ag/αFe2O3-rGO nanocomposites were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometer (EDX), photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy, and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR). The results showed that hematite nanoparticles and Ag nanoparticles were well decorated on the graphene surface. Photocatalytic activity of Ag/αFe2O3-rGO ternary nanocomposites and pure Ag/αFe2O3 was investigated for photodegradation of Congo red dye solution as a model pollutant under UV light irradiation. The ternary nanocomposite with 1.8?mg/ml GO aqueous solution concentration shows higher degradation efficiency under UV light irradiation than the pure Ag/αFe2O3 and the nanocomposites with other GO aqueous solution concentrations. It was observed that the adsorption of the dyes on the nanocomposites surface is dependent on the graphene content due to a decrease in the recombination rate, particles size, and increase charge carrier transfer. The results show that the Ag/αFe2O3-rGO nanocomposite can be used as an excellent photocatalytic material for degradation of Congo red dye in wastewater. A possible photocatalytic mechanism was proposed for degradation of Congo red dye.  相似文献

In this paper, a series of CdS/TiO2 NTs have been synthesized by SILAR method. The as-prepared CdS/TiO2 NTs have been analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS), and ultraviolet–visible (UV–vis). And their photocatalytic activities have been investigated on the degradation of methylene blue under simulated solar light irradiation. XRD results indicate that TiO2 NTs were anatase phase, CdS nanoparticles were hexagonal phase. FESEM results indicate that low deposition concentration can keep the nanotubular structures. UV–vis results indicate that CdS can be used to improve the absorbing capability of TiO2 NTs for visible light, and the content of CdS affects the band gap. Photocatalytic results indicate that CdS nanoparticles are conducive to improve the photocatalytic efficiency of TiO2 NTs, and the highest degradation rate can reach 93.8%. And the photocatalytic mechanism of CdS/TiO2 NTs to methylene blue is also described.  相似文献

A hybrid material of reduced graphene oxide (RGO) sheets decorated with CdS-TiO2 NPs was prepared through a facile one-pot hydrothermal method. The assembly of CdS-TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) on RGO sheets was in-situ produced. As-synthesized nanocomposites were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy disperse X-ray spectrum (EDS), fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL). The obtained nanocomposites exhibited a good photocatalytic activity for the visible-light-induced decomposition of methylene blue (MB) dye and hydrolysis of ammonia borane. The results showed that by incorporation of CdS and TiO2 NPs on graphene oxide sheets the photocatalytic efficiency was enhanced. The significant enhancement in the photocatalytic activity of CdS-TiO2/RGO nanocomposites under visible light irradiation can be ascribed to the effect of CdS by acting as electron traps in TiO2 band gap. Reduced graphene oxide worked as the adsorbent, electron acceptor and a photo-sensitizer to efficiently enhance the dye photo decomposition. Such nanocomposite photocatalyst might find potential application in a wide range of fields, including hydrogen energy generation, air purification, and wastewater treatment.  相似文献

TiO2 particles supported on multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were prepared using a sol–gel method to investigate their photocatalytic activity under simulated solar irradiation for the degradation of methyl orange (MO) in aqueous solution. The prepared composites were analyzed using XRD, SEM, EDS and UV–vis absorption spectroscopy. The results of this study indicated that there was little difference in the shape and structure of MWCNTs/TiO2 composite and pure TiO2 particles. The composite exhibited enhanced absorption properties in the visible light range compared to pure TiO2. The degradation of MO by MWCNTs/TiO2 composite photocatalysts was investigated under irradiation with simulated solar light. The results of this study indicated that MWCNTs played a significant role in improving photocatalytic performance. Different amounts of MWCNTs had different effects on photodegradation efficiency, and the most efficient MO photodegradation was observed for a 2% MWCNT/TiO2 mass ratio. Photocatalytic reaction kinetics were described using the Langmuir–Hinshelwood (L–H) model. The photocatalyst was reused for eight cycles, and it retained over 95.2% photocatalytic degradation efficiency. Possible decomposition mechanisms were also discussed. The results of this study indicated that photocatalytic reactions with TiO2 particles supported on MWCNTs under simulated solar light irradiation are feasible and effective for degrading organic dye pollutants.  相似文献

Rational design of semiconductor membrane photocatalyst with good mechanical flexibility and excellent photocatalytic activity is of significance for environmental remediation. Herein, flexible Ag@ZnO/TiO2 fibrous membranes with hierarchical nanostructures were fabricated through combining a simple electrospinning method and subsequent hydrothermal reaction and photodeposition process. In the ternary nanocomposite, ZnO nanorods were firmly anchored onto TiO2 nanofibers, while Ag nanoparticles were evenly decorated on the surface of both ZnO and TiO2. Benefiting from the improved light absorption, large surface area, and effective charge separation, the resultant Ag@ZnO/TiO2 membranes displayed superior photocatalytic degradation efficiency of 91.6% toward tetracycline hydrochloride within 1 h, and also exhibited prominent antibacterial activity with a 6.5 log inactivation of E. coli after 1 h simulated solar light exposure. Significantly, the membrane photocatalyst still preserved structural integrity and mechanical flexibility after utilization. This study provides an alternative approach for designing and synthesizing flexible TiO2-based membrane photocatalysts toward high-efficiency water purification.  相似文献

The present work demonstrates a facile route for preparing LaFeO3/rGO nanocomposites comprising of metal oxide nanoparticles and graphene. Structural, morphology, optical and photocatalytic studies of the samples were characterized using powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), FT-IR, Raman, high resolution scanning electron microscopy (HRSEM), high resolution transmission electron microscope (HRTEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), thermogravimetry (TGA), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, UV–visible and photocatalytic. LaFeO3/rGO nanocomposites believed as an effective photocatalyst for the degradation of methyl orange (MO) dye under visible light irradiation. The inclusion of carbon enhances the light absorption of LaFeO3, resulting in the enhanced photocatalytic activity of the nanocomposite. The degradation of MO dye under visible light source was completely achieved using LaFeO3/rGO as a catalyst.  相似文献
