Transient convection in incompressible planar and axisymmetric point flow is analyzed numerically in this work, and the thermal boundary layer response to surface sudden heating and cooling in the two settings is presented and compared over a range of Prandtl number between 0.5 and 100. A comparison between surface sudden cooling and heating is performed and different criteria are established as to when surface sudden heating and cooling are equivalent in terms of the transition time. With no initial thermal boundary layer (surface and fluid are at the same temperature), the transition time from the initial steady state to the final steady state upon surface sudden cooling or heating is found to be a constant regardless of the surface heating or cooling extent above or below the initial surface temperature, and is dependent only on the Prandtl number. With the existence of an initial thermal boundary layer, the transition time is dependent upon the heating or cooling extent, the initial surface temperature, the Prandtl number and whether heating/cooling is towards building-up or demolishing the thermal boundary later. It takes longer time when surface sudden heating or cooling is towards demolishing the thermal boundary layer than building it up. With symmetric surface sudden cooling or heating above or below the far-field fluid temperature, the transition time is independent on the surface cooling or heating extent and is a function of only the Prandtl number. A considerable difference in the thermal boundary layer response in the two settings is found. The transition time from the initial to the final steady state in axisymmetric stagnation point flow is less than that in plane stagnation flow under the same conditions. 相似文献

This study examined the performances of two double-chamber microbial fuel cells (MFCs) at 25 °C and 15 °C. After successful startup, the cell temperature of MFC A was decreased from 25 to 15 °C, yielding a sudden breakdown of the entire system. Conversely, the MFC B, started up at 15 °C, delivering higher power density at 25 °C than MFC A at the same temperature. The electrochemical analysis revealed that the MFC B had lower anodic resistance than MFC A. Additionally, a negative temperature dependence of the polarization resistances of the anodic biofilm was noted, a novel phenomenon only reported in this double-chambered study. Microbial analysis showed that the psychrophilic bacteria were enriched in anodic biofilms of MFC B, which likely contributed to the robust cell performance of the present double-chambered MFCs. 相似文献

The wood manufacturing industry in Sweden is not very often the subject of academic research activities. In certain parts of Sweden, generally in rural areas, this industrial branch is of major importance as a local employer. If the companies could grow and prosper it would lead to a more vivid countryside and decrease migration to larger towns and cities. The council of the European Community has therefore introduced certain funds for research projects in such rural areas. This paper describes the use of electricity and heat in a carpentry factory. The result shows that energy conservation measures and load management might be of significant importance in order to make the company more profitable. Even small savings can be the difference between survival or bankruptcy. For the studied factory it is obvious that much equipment for heating purposes are in a poor state. The steam system which could be useful for decreasing the use of electricity heating suffers from leaking steam traps and other imperfections which lead to severe losses in both kilowatt-hours and money. 为获取热源和有机工质的最佳匹配规律,提高系统热力性能,提出求解工质热源转折温度的新方法及基于工质热源转折温度的工质与热源最优匹配新方法。首先,通过定义潜热熵差比推导出工质热源转折温度的理论公式,并采用蜻蜓算法进行精确求解;其次,与文献[14]对比,验证模型准确性;最后,对比工质热源转折温度与热源温度筛选最优工质。结果表明:选用的15种工质的热源转折温度与文献[14]的对比误差不超过1.62%,验证了工质热源转折温度求解公式的准确性;当热源温度确定时,选择热源转折温度小于热源温度的工质可获得最佳工况;当工质确定时,选择高于该工质热源转折温度的热源温度可获得最佳工况。 相似文献
