EDIpro — an integrated environment for electronic data interchange

We have developed a pull-down, menu-based integrated environment for electronic data interchange according to the UN/EDIFACT standard. The software package runs under the MS-DOS operating system and supports all phases of an interchange, from designing an interchange agreement to the final transmission of generated EDIFACT messages. This case study describes the solutions that introduce the open-EDI system properties.     

The impact of EDI implementation commitment and implementation success on competitive advantage and firm performance

Abstract. Electronic Data Interchange Systems (EDI) are increasingly being used by business firms to improve operations and customer service. One of the major motivations for business organizations using EDI is to gain a strategic advantage in the marketplace. Although EDI has been implemented by many organizations, unfortunately not all have gained the same level of expected advantage or envisioned benefits.
In this study we focus on the impact of EDI implementation commitment and implementation success on competitive advantage and firm performance. We study two categories of companies: companies that initiate the development of EDI and are known as hub companies and those that are their non-hub counterparts. Findings indicate that non-hub firms may not reap the same level of expected benefits resulting from EDI technology adoption and implementation as hub firms.     

Secure electronic data interchange over the Internet

The electronic data interchange over the Internet (EDI-INT) standards provide a secure means of transporting EDI and XML business documents over the Internet. EDI-INT includes different implementation protocols that work over the Internet's three major transports - SMTP, HTTP, and FTP. Each uses secure multipurpose Internet mail extensions (S/MIME), digital signatures, encryption, and message-receipt validation to ensure the necessary security for business-to-business communications.     

Factors affecting the implementation success of Internet-based information systems

The Internet has come to revolutionize the way in which business conducts commercial activities. In this paper, we report on the development of a model of Internet-based information systems (IIS) implementation in business-to-consumer electronic commerce based on IS implementation and technology innovation–implementation studies. Our research model suggests that eight factors, comprising the characteristics of IIS technology innovation, organizational factors, and IS related factors, affect the implementation success of IIS. IIS themselves are characterized by three dimensions: volume, sophistication, and information contents. The suggested model was empirically tested using survey results from Korean companies that have adopted IIS. The results of multivariate regression analysis reveal that compatibility and IS infrastructure are key determinants of the extent of IIS implementation (in terms of volume, sophistication, and information contents). IS expertise potentially affects the extent of IIS implementation.     

The complexities of electronic services implementation and institutionalisation in the public sector

Electronic service implementation (ESI) in the public sector attempts to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and transparency of governmental departments. Despite having provided the necessary infrastructure and investment, many governments have struggled to realise such aims due to the various forces that challenge implementation and institutionalisation. Using institutional theory as a lens, we explored the forces influencing the implementation and institutionalisation of ESI in the public sector. While our results reinforced previous research in IT implementation and organisational transformation, they showed that the dynamic nature of technology poses unanticipated pressures, and that these can impede the implementation and institutionalisation process.     

Exploring managerial factors affecting ERP implementation: an investigation of the Klein‐Sorra model using regression splines

Abstract. Predicting successful implementation of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is still an elusive problem. The cost of ERP implementation failures is exceedingly high in terms of quantifiable financial resources and organizational disruption. The lack of good explanatory and predictive models makes it difficult for managers to develop and plan ERP implementation projects with any assurance of success. In this paper we investigate the Klein & Sorra theoretical model of implementation effectiveness. To test this model we develop and validate a data collection instrument to capture the appropriate data, and then use multivariate adaptive regression splines to examine the assertions of the model and suggest additional significant relationships among the factors of their model. Our research offers new dimensions for studying managerial interventions in IT implementation and insights into factors that can be managed to improve the effectiveness of ERP implementation projects.

“数据结构”课程中算法实现的学习方法研究

数据结构课程以算法描述为基础诠释了各种具体数据结构的概念和特点,而算法的实现则用更加直观的方式巩固了所学理论知识。文章结合数据结构的教学实践,总结学生实现算法遇到的普遍性问题,进而提出一种"三步曲"的数据结构算法实现学习方法。通过在教学实践中实际应用发现,该方法可以有效地帮助学生提高算法转化的效率。     

关于网络安全管理平台的设计与实现

随着多媒体设备和计算机技术的发展与应用,人类社会的活动越来越依赖网络,具体的表现是无论是国家政府部门,还是社会团体甚至是个人企业都在建设和发展自己的网络,使其能在互联网当中实现“资源共享”、从而被人们阅读,好增高知名度.但是由此也带来许多与网管相关的安全工作：恶意攻击、病毒等等.因此,我们要重视网络完全的问题,并且需要有关技术部门研发出一个适合广大群众使用的安全管理平台.本文主要从以下几个方面展开论述网管平台安全的实际与实现.     

The use of ICT in primary schools within emerging communities of implementation

To illustrate the conditions under which successful innovation adoption takes place, this paper focuses on the implementation of information and communication technologies (ICT) through emerging communities in schools. Two types of such communities are described in terms of the degree of participation in the implementation: school-wide communities and enclaves. The article describes implementation practices in four primary schools with reported high ICT use, selected as case-studies. Four criteria, reflecting the domain, personnel relationships, policy and implementation goals and strategies, as well as staff consistency, are employed to outline the existence and types of communities of implementation within these schools. Findings indicate that, although both school-wide communities and enclaves are present in successful schools, enclaves – compared to school-wide communities – are related to lower levels of implementation. Based on these findings the authors discuss policy directions towards the development of school-wide communities as a purposeful implementation strategy to help transition ICT institutionalization from the initiation to the habitualization stage.     

WIA-PA网络关键技术的设计与实现*

无线网络技术在工业过程自动化的应用是工业控制领域的又一研究热点。WIA-PA (Wireless Network for Industrial Automation – Process Automation)[1]是IEC认可的工业无线国际标准。WIA-PA网络具有网状和星型混合拓扑结构、自适应调频能力、CSMA与TDMA混合访问机制等技术特点,能够适应复杂工业环境和满足苛刻工业需求,具有很好的可靠性和实时性。本文首先介绍了WIA-PA的体系结构;然后给出了我们在原型网络实现过程中显现的关键技术与目前采用的策略和技术方法,如时间管理、时间同步、网络安全和网状组网等。最后通过原型网络证明了我们设计的可行性和合理性。     

EDI方式的电子商务系统的设计

介绍了IS09735电子数据交换国际标准。在电子商务中，EDI将商业文件如定单、合同、货单、发票等单证按EDI国际标准所规定的报文格式，编制成能被计算机自动识别和处理的标准数据报文，通过网络，在相关企业的计算机之间传输。以公司票价查询系统为例介绍了利用EDI格式进行信息交换的电子商务系统的设计思想，并在此基础上初步开发了一个EDI翻译器系统。     

Factors affecting user performance in haptic assembly

Current computer-aided assembly systems provide engineers with a variety of spatial snapping and alignment techniques for interactively defining the positions and attachments of components. With the advent of haptics and its integration into virtual assembly systems, users now have the potential advantage of tactile information. This paper reports research that aims to quantify how the provision of haptic feedback in an assembly system can affect user performance. To investigate human–computer interaction processes in assembly modeling, performance of a peg-in-hole manipulation was studied to determine the extent to which haptics and stereovision may impact on task completion time. The results support two important conclusions: first, it is apparent that small (i.e. visually insignificant) assembly features (e.g. chamfers) affect the overall task completion at times only when haptic feedback is provided; and second, that the difference is approximately similar to the values reported for equivalent real world peg-in-hole assembly tasks.

Factors affecting the adoption of electronic signature: Executives' perspective of hospital information department

The healthcare industry is experiencing a major transformation towards e-healthcare, which delivers and enhances related information through the Internet among healthcare stakeholders and makes the electronic signature (e-signature) more and more important. This paper uses a mature framework, Technology–Organization–Environment (TEO), in information system discipline to identify factors that affect hospitals in adopting e-signature. A survey was conducted on regional hospitals and medical centers in Taiwan to verify the validity of the research framework. The results show that TEO framework is useful in distinguishing hospitals as adopters and non-adopters of e-signature. Based on the research findings, implications and limitations are discussed.     

IBM's data security strategy: Some implementation aspects

Security of resources, in particular data security, ought to be the continuous concern of any company: an effective security is a matter of vital importance. This paper discusses some implementation aspects of IBM's security strategy, which aims at providing methods for the selective protection of assets against unauthorized or accidental disclosure, modification or destruction. The practical implementation of this security strategy takes the form of a yearly operating plan. One of the items covered in such a plan is the audit or review of functions and installations. Where audits and reviews are formally defined processes, peer reviews are an informal but very effective method of establishing a satisfactory measure of compliance with security requirements.     

Factors affecting the implementation rates of energy and productivity recommendations in small and medium sized companies

The Industrial Assessment Center (IAC) at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee has worked with more than 500 manufacturing companies to identify energy and productivity saving opportunities for small and medium sized companies. The most common saving recommendations are summarized. The implementation rates of the recommendations were only about 40%. The logistic regression analysis is used to investigate the factors that affect the implementation rates of the recommendations in 147 manufacturing plants from seven different types of industries. Six possible factors affecting the implementation rates of the recommendations are investigated; payback period, sales, number of employees, plant area, annual working hours, and the industry type. It is determined that each type of industry deals differently with implementing the recommendations. Furthermore, the recommendation type (energy or productivity) and payback period are the main factors that affect the implementation rates. It was also found that the companies which run on full capacity or work more hours are less likely to implement the recommendations.     

Investigating the Critical Success Factors for Implementing Electronic Document Management Systems in Governments: Evidence From Jordan

We investigated the critical success factors that affect the implementation of electronic document management systems in government organizations. Based on a comprehensive literature review and input from an expert panel, we composed a list of 37 factors that were considered as prerequisites of successful electronic document management system implementation. We then grouped these 37 factors into six categories. Through a questionnaire survey and factor analysis, we confirmed that the categories identified are important for successful electronic document management system implementation.     

高校教师工作量管理系统的设计与实现

结合青岛滨海学院实际,对高校教师工作量系统进行了系统分析与设计,开发出了教师工作量管理系统,系统实现了相应的功能。实际应用表明,该系统的实施极大地提高了教师工作量管理的工作效率。
