This paper presents a random boosting ensemble (RBE) classifier for remote sensing image classification, which introduces the random projection feature selection and bootstrap methods to obtain base classifiers for classifier ensemble. The RBE method is built based on an improved boosting framework, which is quite efficient for the few-shot problem due to the bootstrap in use. In RBE, kernel extreme machine (KELM) is applied to design base classifiers, which actually make RBE quite efficient due to feature reduction. The experimental results on the remote scene image classification demonstrate that RBE can effectively improve the classification performance, and resulting into a better generalization ability on the 21-class land-use dataset and the India pine satellite scene dataset.

Electrical borehole wall images represent micro-resistivity measurements at the borehole wall. The lithology reconstruction is often based on visual interpretation done by geologists. This analysis is very time-consuming and subjective. Different geologists may interpret the data differently. In this work, linear discriminant analysis (LDA) in combination with texture features is used for an automated lithology reconstruction of ODP (Ocean Drilling Program) borehole 1203A drilled during Leg 197. Six rock groups are identified by their textural properties in resistivity data obtained by a Formation MircoScanner (FMS). Although discriminant analysis can be used for multi-class classification, non-optimal decision criteria for certain groups could emerge. For this reason, we use a combination of 2-class (binary) classifiers to increase the overall classification accuracy. The generalization ability of the combined classifiers is evaluated and optimized on a testing dataset where a classification rate of more than 80% for each of the six rock groups is achieved. The combined, trained classifiers are then applied on the whole dataset obtaining a statistical reconstruction of the logged formation. Compared to a single multi-class classifier the combined binary classifiers show better classification results for certain rock groups and more stable results in larger intervals of equal rock type.  相似文献

针对场景分类任务中全局Gist特征粒度较为粗糙的问题,提出一种基于稠密网格的局部Gist特征描述,利用空间金字塔结构加入空间信息,通过引入RGB颜色空间加入颜色信息,并基于词汇包(BOW)模型设计一种高效匹配核来度量局部特征间的相似性,核化特征匹配过程,使用线性SVM完成场景分类.实验考察了不同尺度、方向、粒度和不同匹配核的局部Gist特征以及训练样本集的大小对分类结果的影响,并通过在OT场景图像集上与全局Gist特征和稠密SIFT特征的场景分类结果进行比较,充分说明了本文特征构造方法和分类模型的有效性.  相似文献

Spectral features of images, such as Gabor filters and wavelet transform can be used for texture image classification. That is, a classifier is trained based on some labeled texture features as the training set to classify unlabeled texture features of images into some pre-defined classes. The aim of this paper is twofold. First, it investigates the classification performance of using Gabor filters, wavelet transform, and their combination respectively, as the texture feature representation of scenery images (such as mountain, castle, etc.). A k-nearest neighbor (k-NN) classifier and support vector machine (SVM) are also compared. Second, three k-NN classifiers and three SVMs are combined respectively, in which each of the combined three classifiers uses one of the above three texture feature representations respectively, to see whether combining multiple classifiers can outperform the single classifier in terms of scenery image classification. The result shows that a single SVM using Gabor filters provides the highest classification accuracy than the other two spectral features and the combined three k-NN classifiers and three SVMs.  相似文献

Cervical cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer death in females worldwide. The disease can be cured if the patient is diagnosed in the pre-cancerous lesion stage or earlier. A common physical examination technique widely used in the screening is Papanicolaou test or Pap test. In this research, a method for automatic cervical cancer cell segmentation and classification is proposed. A single-cell image is segmented into nucleus, cytoplasm, and background, using the fuzzy C-means (FCM) clustering technique. Four cell classes in the ERUDIT and LCH datasets, i.e., normal, low grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (LSIL), high grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (HSIL), and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), are considered. The 2-class problem can be achieved by grouping the last 3 classes as one abnormal class. Whereas, the Herlev dataset consists of 7 cell classes, i.e., superficial squamous, intermediate squamous, columnar, mild dysplasia, moderate dysplasia, severe dysplasia, and carcinoma in situ. These 7 classes can also be grouped to form a 2-class problem. These 3 datasets were tested on 5 classifiers including Bayesian classifier, linear discriminant analysis (LDA), K-nearest neighbor (KNN), artificial neural networks (ANN), and support vector machine (SVM). For the ERUDIT dataset, ANN with 5 nucleus-based features yielded the accuracies of 96.20% and 97.83% on the 4-class and 2-class problems, respectively. For the Herlev dataset, ANN with 9 cell-based features yielded the accuracies of 93.78% and 99.27% for the 7-class and 2-class problems, respectively. For the LCH dataset, ANN with 9 cell-based features yielded the accuracies of 95.00% and 97.00% for the 4-class and 2-class problems, respectively. The segmentation and classification performances of the proposed method were compared with that of the hard C-means clustering and watershed technique. The results show that the proposed automatic approach yields very good performance and is better than its counterparts.  相似文献

目的 局部图像描述符广泛应用于许多图像理解和计算机视觉应用领域,如图像分类、目标识别、图像检索、机器人导航、纹理分类等。SIFT算法的提出标志着现代局部图像描述符研究的开始。主要对最近发展的现代局部图像描述符进行了综述。方法 首先,介绍了4大类局部图像描述符:局部特征空间分布描述符、局部特征空间关联描述符、基于机器学习的局部描述符、扩展局部描述符(局部颜色描述符、局部RGB-D描述符、局部空时描述符)。对局部图像描述符进行了分析和分类,并总结了局部图像描述符的不变性、计算复杂度、应用领域、评价方法和评价数据集。最后,展望了局部图像描述符的未来研究方向。结果 近年来局部图像描述符研究取得了很大进展,提出了很多优秀的描述符,在辨别性、鲁棒性和实时性方面有了很大提高,应用领域不断拓展。结论 局部图像描述符应用广泛,是计算机视觉领域的重要基础研究。而目前,局部图像描述符还存在许多问题,还需进一步的深入研究。  相似文献

在遥感影像分类应用中,不同分类器的分类精度是不同的,而同一分类器对不同类别的分类精度也是不相同的。多分类器结合的思想就是利用现有分类器之间的互补性,通过适当的方法将不同的分类器之间进行优势互补,往往可以得到比单个分类器更好的分类结果。本文研究了如何在Matlab下采用最短距离分类器、贝叶斯分类器、BP神经网络分类器对影像进行分类,并采用投票法进行多种分类器结合的遥感影像分类,最后进行分类后处理。实验结果表明多分类器结合的遥感影像分类比单一分类器分类的精度高。  相似文献

Feature rankings are often used for supervised dimension reduction especially when discriminating power of each feature is of interest, dimensionality of dataset is extremely high, or computational power is limited to perform more complicated methods. In practice, it is recommended to start dimension reduction via simple methods such as feature rankings before applying more complex approaches. Single variable classifier (SVC) ranking is a feature ranking based on the predictive performance of a classifier built using only a single feature. While benefiting from capabilities of classifiers, this ranking method is not as computationally intensive as wrappers. In this paper, we report the results of an extensive study on the bias and stability of such feature ranking method. We study whether the classifiers influence the SVC rankings or the discriminative power of features themselves has a dominant impact on the final rankings. We show the common intuition of using the same classifier for feature ranking and final classification does not always result in the best prediction performance. We then study if heterogeneous classifiers ensemble approaches provide more unbiased rankings and if they improve final classification performance. Furthermore, we calculate an empirical prediction performance loss for using the same classifier in SVC feature ranking and final classification from the optimal choices.  相似文献

Object Detection Using the Statistics of Parts   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
In this paper we describe a trainable object detector and its instantiations for detecting faces and cars at any size, location, and pose. To cope with variation in object orientation, the detector uses multiple classifiers, each spanning a different range of orientation. Each of these classifiers determines whether the object is present at a specified size within a fixed-size image window. To find the object at any location and size, these classifiers scan the image exhaustively.Each classifier is based on the statistics of localized parts. Each part is a transform from a subset of wavelet coefficients to a discrete set of values. Such parts are designed to capture various combinations of locality in space, frequency, and orientation. In building each classifier, we gathered the class-conditional statistics of these part values from representative samples of object and non-object images. We trained each classifier to minimize classification error on the training set by using Adaboost with Confidence-Weighted Predictions (Shapire and Singer, 1999). In detection, each classifier computes the part values within the image window and looks up their associated class-conditional probabilities. The classifier then makes a decision by applying a likelihood ratio test. For efficiency, the classifier evaluates this likelihood ratio in stages. At each stage, the classifier compares the partial likelihood ratio to a threshold and makes a decision about whether to cease evaluation—labeling the input as non-object—or to continue further evaluation. The detector orders these stages of evaluation from a low-resolution to a high-resolution search of the image. Our trainable object detector achieves reliable and efficient detection of human faces and passenger cars with out-of-plane rotation.  相似文献

Breast cancer is the most commonly occurring form of cancer in women. While mammography is the standard modality for diagnosis, thermal imaging provides an interesting alternative as it can identify tumors of smaller size and hence lead to earlier detection. In this paper, we present an approach to analysing breast thermograms based on image features and a hybrid multiple classifier system. The employed image features provide indications of asymmetry between left and right breast regions that are encountered when a tumor is locally recruiting blood vessels on one side, leading to a change in the captured temperature distribution. The presented multiple classifier system is based on a hybridisation of three computational intelligence techniques: neural networks or support vector machines as base classifiers, a neural fuser to combine the individual classifiers, and a fuzzy measure for assessing the diversity of the ensemble and removal of individual classifiers from the ensemble. In addition, we address the problem of class imbalance that often occurs in medical data analysis, by training base classifiers on balanced object subspaces. Our experimental evaluation, on a large dataset of about 150 breast thermograms, convincingly shows our approach not only to provide excellent classification accuracy and sensitivity but also to outperform both canonical classification approaches as well as other classifier ensembles designed for imbalanced datasets.  相似文献

This paper proposes a novel method based on Spectral Regression (SR) for efficient scene recognition. First, a new SR approach, called Extended Spectral Regression (ESR), is proposed to perform manifold learning on a huge number of data samples. Then, an efficient Bag-of-Words (BOW) based method is developed which employs ESR to encapsulate local visual features with their semantic, spatial, scale, and orientation information for scene recognition. In many applications, such as image classification and multimedia analysis, there are a huge number of low-level feature samples in a training set. It prohibits direct application of SR to perform manifold learning on such dataset. In ESR, we first group the samples into tiny clusters, and then devise an approach to reduce the size of the similarity matrix for graph learning. In this way, the subspace learning on graph Laplacian for a vast dataset is computationally feasible on a personal computer. In the ESR-based scene recognition, we first propose an enhanced low-level feature representation which combines the scale, orientation, spatial position, and local appearance of a local feature. Then, ESR is applied to embed enhanced low-level image features. The ESR-based feature embedding not only generates a low dimension feature representation but also integrates various aspects of low-level features into the compact representation. The bag-of-words is then generated from the embedded features for image classification. The comparative experiments on open benchmark datasets for scene recognition demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms baseline approaches. It is suitable for real-time applications on mobile platforms, e.g. tablets and smart phones.  相似文献
